From the hair artist behind Zendaya and Cynthia Erivo, Coree Moreno (@coree.moreno) “loves hair that feels lived-in,” not forced. This Fall, his advice is simple: embrace your natural texture. In R29’s Fall Lookbook, he shows that wearable styles can still turn heads — wherever the season takes you. Check out the episode and tell us which is your favorite Fall ’do.

00:00Hi guys, Cory Marino, celebrity hairdresser. I am here with Refinery29 to share five
00:05transformations on beautiful heads of hair. Check out the fall style forecast.
00:20Each of these braids have been made by hand and they should be used like textiles. We have not
00:25used any scrunchies, very minimal bobby pins and this is going to stay all night. I'm inspired by
00:30the 90s of course but I'm trying to bring it into the future so this is how I would see
00:35a natural
00:36woman with her braids on a red carpet or at a wedding. Like an elegant moment, something evening
00:41ready. What do you think is different about the way you approach hair for fall versus all of the
00:46other seasons? The weather. So the humidity isn't a factor in any of my options. Also I think about
00:51collars and hats and wool neck pieces and turtleneck. So this is definitely a bob territory.
00:57It's time to do shorter lengths. Seasons are starting to get drier so it's really that time
01:01to start focusing on like nourishing the hair. And what are you excited about for this fall?
01:06I feel like we're having this almost resurgence of worker wear. Office siren has been around but I
01:11feel as though like people are taking it a little bit deeper. And not something I'm saying to kind
01:14of dress up and get in that bob. Alright well let's chat about each of these looks.
01:20I'm absolutely obsessed with this modern beehive that you created. The recreation is the permit on
01:25your hair lane. And oddly enough shags and shorter layers work best for this type of styling because
01:32you're not having to hide and tuck ends in places that they shouldn't go. It's like immediate sexiness
01:36without even trying. The hidden bob. It's one of those tricks that hairdressers in my position would
01:44have to just have in their arsenal. But I also feel like it's great for the everyday woman.
01:48Yes! Okay the everyday girl can do this.
01:54I think this is my favorite. This braided updo. This is super important to me because I just feel
01:59like oftentimes braids aren't something referenced for evening wear or something formal. So it's just
02:05really important for me to show the variation and the range that braids actually have.
02:13So this I consider the grunge chignon. A low bun being transitioned into something really really
02:19modern. I think that it's so timeless. I could see this on a mature woman. I could see this on
02:23a younger
02:23girl. I could see someone with natural hair and someone with smooth hair. Just so versatile.
02:32The new wave. I feel like the new wave is something that's done a lot. But I also feel as
02:38though that
02:38it's lost its refinement. Everybody's wearing kind of this beachy. You can kind of cramp. I want to kind
02:43of like show this style using a flat arm because you're really able to customize that wave. So if
02:47you're wanting to accent cheekbones, like those waves need to be starting there. If you're wanting to
02:52accent jaw, those waves should be starting there. One of the things I noticed about the looks you've
03:04been doing so far is like they're not too perfect, which I feel like makes them feel approachable.
03:08What do you like about having like some texture and some? I love the element of hair feeling very
03:13lift and I want it to feel comfortable. And I feel like most times like super perfect textures, frizz-free
03:19looks like requires you to like destroy your hair to achieve them. So I'm like I would rather lean
03:23into the problem things instead of like trying to correct them. What about these looks makes it feel
03:28like kind of you and fresh and cool? I am quintessential like a classic man as far as hair
03:34is concerned. But I've found a way to like merge my grungy inner child making women feel like fierce.
03:41So like I've like merged those worlds and like this is kind of what I envisioned for the fall. Like
03:46the
03:47trends I've been consistently working with. A lot of these images on my work.
