00:00All right, so, Cowboys questions that matter.
00:02I mentioned this earlier, but I want to get your thoughts.
00:05So, Ezraku with the hip surgery, going to be out until training camp.
00:08We got the news that Ezraku and Leofau are moving because of the Christian Parker system.
00:17Do you think either or both can excel at linebacker?
00:23I do.
00:24Now, obviously, I honestly think, Kevin, this little hip surgery that Ezraku had is going to put a damper on
00:31things.
00:32If he's going to be ready for camp, that's fine.
00:34I understand that, but you're still losing it.
00:36It puts you behind, man.
00:37Yes, exactly.
00:38And now you're having to learn another position, and you have to be a little more fluid in your hips.
00:43We talk about the oily hips all the time.
00:45Yes, you do.
00:45Thanks to Alec Medford, who obviously is in the Medford Plex.
00:51It's very important.
00:52I think they can do the job.
00:54I think Leofau can, but he is going to have to take on a little bit bigger size than normal.
00:59I wonder if he's putting on some more weight this offseason for that.
01:02And that's got to be another thing, too, Kevin.
01:05A lot of these guys might be asked to do new things.
01:07They have to take their whole program and change it a little bit.
01:10Who are they talking to?
01:11What's the program going to be for them?
01:13Their own personal trainers now have to get on the same page with,
01:16we've got to keep your speed, but also you've got to take on some bigger bodies.
01:20You're going to be taking on these offensive tackles now.
01:23But I do think that they can make that transition just with the things I think they're going to be
01:28asked to do.
01:29Do you think the Cowboys will actually be aggressive in free agency?
01:35Now, I want to explain this one a little bit more because you just heard it in the last sports
01:40minute,
01:40which was really off-base.
01:43He's not focusing.
01:45People are not focusing on the thing that Jerry said that matters, in my opinion.
01:51I think you're dead on with this, Kevin.
01:53So Jerry said, I could see us being aggressive in free agency.
01:57And then the sports minute is like, hey, a couple of years ago we said all in.
02:01Like, that's great.
02:01But that's an irrelevant part of the quote.
02:05And that's what everyone seems to have, like, caught up on.
02:08This is the part of what he said that I think matters.
02:12Jerry Jones, the only way to push more is for me to go borrow some of my future.
02:18Expect me to go borrow some of my future.
02:21And we have talked about this time and time and time again.
02:25You can totally have more money created.
02:29You'll probably have to F over your cap in 2028 and, to a certain extent, 2027.
02:35But that's what he's talking about.
02:37And that's the part that matters.
02:39Don't get caught up in, ugh, they're going to be aggressive in free agency.
02:42That's not the part of the quote that matters.
02:44The part of the quote that matters is him saying, expect me to go borrow some of my future.
02:50And that is something that we have talked about forever.
02:52If Dak Prescott is here and you think he's the man, which they do,
02:57it doesn't matter what I think, you think, what anybody else out there thinks,
03:00the Cowboys think that he's the dude that can lead this thing with some help,
03:05then why not go for it?
03:07And that quote right there shows that he's thought it through.
03:10Thought it through.
03:11Now, the action and the execution of it, we'll see.
03:14Yeah, I have no idea.
03:14But it sounds like, based on what Jeremy Fowler's saying,
03:17the Cowboys do have a very detailed plan on what they want to add to this thing this offseason.
03:22And I think, you know, a shared vision with Christian Parker was a big factor there.
03:26Knowing that you have a dude that's not just coming in here and he's like,
03:29whatever you guys want, I'll coach him.
03:31It sounds more like he's like, I want these things.
03:33I need players like this.
03:35As it should be, right?
03:36You absolutely should.
03:37I want this.
03:39Otherwise, why'd you bring me in here?
03:41But I think I like the coaching staff a little more than I think I've felt in a long while.
03:47I was a big fan of Christian Parker already.
03:50I like what Schottenheimer did.
03:51But so the idea, though, is that Jerry has, for many years now, been like,
03:58ah, there's always next year.
04:00Yeah.
04:01And he's like, we've got to dig ourselves out of a cap hole.
04:03Yeah.
04:04And then this year, he's like, you know what?
04:06I'm kind of tired of getting my ass kicked.
04:08And I don't want that to happen again.
04:10I don't want to have to jump on with K&C and have them get the best of me sometimes.
04:14I want to be able to say, you know what, I put the best team together, and they're going out
04:19there to win.
04:20I believe that they are.
04:22They've shown me some things this offseason already that make me believe not that they've changed,
04:26but that they're altering some of the approaches that they want.
04:30I think they're going to spend.
04:31You don't need that money down the road if you're trying to win right now.
04:34And maybe Jerry has an idea of what this window is for himself, too, of being like,
04:39I want to win this much in this time period.
04:42How are we going to get that done?
04:43We better develop a damn good five-year plan here.
04:45Yeah.
04:46I mean, from the trade of Micah Parsons to hiring a different kind of defensive coordinator
04:52or a coordinator of any kind, and what I mean by that is somebody who doesn't have, like,
04:57the biggest mainstream name.
04:58Or even one of their old friends.
05:00Yes.
05:01Yes.
05:01And moving away from those tropes has been encouraging.
05:05And then to hear him say it like that, I'm hoping, man.
05:09I'm with you.
05:10And then I'll add this.
05:13I was listening this morning from him on the bus when he's like, we don't have time.
05:17I don't have time for red shirts.
05:20We're not going into this draft picking up guys that are going to be, what are they going
05:24to look like in three years?
05:25Yeah.
05:25I need guys.
05:26You got to go.
05:27You got to.
05:27We draft you.
05:28You hit the ground running.
05:29So, like, that's their approach, Kevin, is we're not trying to project out what this guy's
05:33future is going to be.
05:34And that goes in line with, I need to borrow some of the future money.
05:38I'm not worried about three years from now.
05:40This is the season we need to maximize.
05:42See, and somebody brought up the statement, maybe it's the restructures that impact the
05:47future.
05:48That, I mean, I could see where you would think that.
05:50That's not the case.
05:52Like, the way, and we've talked to Jerry about this in the past, the way they built
05:56out Dak's contract and the way they, quite frankly, built out several players' contracts
06:01is so you can flip those switches and convert to signing bonus and everything like that.
06:06Oh, they've already said with Kenny Clark and Quentin, we need that money.
06:09Yes.
06:09We need those monies.
06:10And so, I think all of the restructuring they did, which, that's the thing.
06:15Like, I get why people talked about it over the weekend, but I was like, man, we told
06:19you this like a month ago.
06:20We sure did.
06:21And so, it just played out exactly.
06:24You know what, though, Kevin?
06:25The more I know about this thing, the more I know that we don't have to tell people we
06:31told you this a month ago.
06:32Our Tolos now.
06:33They know.
06:33They'll tell people for us.
06:35That's pretty awesome.
06:36I heard this from K&C in December, guys.
06:39I appreciate that y'all are doing this right now, but y'all got to start listening to K&C
06:44more.
06:45And it's okay.
06:46Sometimes they're a little behind.
06:48Sometimes some people that are making these things, they're a little behind and they're
06:51still trying to figure it out.
06:52But the Tolos know.
06:53They'd be listening.
06:54Yeah.
06:55And that's why you would have known if somebody starts an argument with you about we put the
06:59non-exclusive franchise tag on George Pickens because we're moving him, you know that
07:03that is wrong.
07:04Because you heard it here first.
07:06Now, let's stick with George Pickens.
07:09Will moving George Pickens around help the Cowboys offense evolve?
07:15Because that was one of the things they said they wanted to focus on is moving him around
07:20and having parts of the offense revolve around him.
07:23Do you think moving George Pickens around will help the Cowboys offense evolve?
07:27How wouldn't it?
07:29That's a fair point.
07:31Just because I guess the idea would be if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
07:34And some people would argue it worked really well the way you were doing it.
07:37Yeah.
07:38And it also does depend on his comfort level of moving around and his understanding of
07:42the routes.
07:43I think he could do it.
07:43I think he's very...
07:46The more that Schottenheimer works with him, the more they get rolling there, they're going
07:49to understand a little bit.
07:50But, Kevin, there's one thing that I've learned about football.
07:55It's being multiple is important.
07:57Even on offense, if you can be multiple, I don't know how many times I have to say multiple
08:02for you to understand it, but being multiple...
08:04Alec knows.
08:05I get it.
08:05Lining up multiple fronts, lining up in multiple places on the field, and then not allowing
08:11anybody to get comfortable.
08:12Because what happens is those defenders, they're like, okay, I know I've got to go over to the
08:16right side of the field because that's where George Pickens is going to be.
08:18I'll just line up on him.
08:20Well, now you get over there and you look up and you're like, holy crap, that's isn't
08:23what I thought it was going to be.
08:25My defense, how is this going to work with this guy?
08:27It changes everything.
08:28It gives you the ability to have similar looks and run different plays, but also have different
08:34looks and run similar plays.
08:36And so those things give you...
08:37It just gives you more opportunity to create explosive plays.
08:41And that's where Clayton Adams' mind is right now.
08:43All right.
08:44My next one.
08:46Is a fully healthy Simone Revelle able to be a real player for the Cowboys?
08:52Because you hear, hey, look, he's healthy for the first time in a long time.
08:57And that's great.
08:58And I appreciate that.
08:59And unfortunately, he has some baggage to carry with him in terms of the Jones family hyped
09:04him up to the moon.
09:05Like he's the best parts of Deion Sanders and Daryl Green combined.
09:10So healthy, is he able to be a real player for the Cowboys?
09:16I think so.
09:17Just hearing Christian Parker talk about him, he seems very excited to work with him.
09:21And I think he feels just, again, hearing Christian Parker say what he said made me feel like this
09:27is a teacher that knows he can teach.
09:30And when you know, when you see somebody that's good at what they do, don't they just carry
09:34themselves a little bit differently?
09:35They're like, this is what I'm really good at.
09:38So watch.
09:39And I feel like the teaching part of it, him working on his technique is going to be a
09:42little better.
09:43He looked like, based on what I heard him say, it sounded like he felt he had all the
09:47tools to play what they want him to do.
09:49So I think he will be.
09:51Now, do I think he's going to be the next Deion Sanders?
09:53No, I don't.
09:55Deion Sanders is a one of one and always will be.
09:58All right.
09:58I don't think there's anybody that's ever going to say, I was Deion Sanders also.
10:02It's just not going to happen.
10:03I bet there's a couple out there.
10:04Yeah.
10:05That feel that they were better.
10:06Probably so.
10:07But I just, and you know what?
10:09To play that position, you probably need to think that way.
10:11But I think from the rest of the perspective, a lot of us look at it and say, Deion, one
10:15of one.
10:15I would love to have another body out there that's just as good that we start going, okay,
10:21the secondary is becoming a no-fly zone, and they don't even do that whenever nothing
10:25happens.
10:26They do it for real.
10:27Yeah, by the way, somebody asked from the 616, if the fix to freeing up money is restructuring
10:34salary into the signing bonus, then why isn't every contract starting with a large signing
10:38bonus on the front end to prevent delay of the inevitable?
10:42So one of the issues that you run into that is you are kind of playing with fire when you
10:48convert some of these contracts because usually what the Cowboys do is they kick some down
10:56the line into those void years, which that can hurt you later.
11:00And I think the reason why not all teams do that to start is it's like when you start a
11:04new relationship and you've had your heart broken eight million times, you're hoping for
11:08the best this time.
11:09Like, I signed that deal hoping for the best, but also building in some loopholes in the
11:14contract that just in case the rest of my team or my signings or whatever don't go exactly the
11:20way I hoped they would, then I've got a little wiggle room.
11:24Did you get a prenup when you got married?
11:26Was that...
11:26Oh, no.
11:27Her family definitely has more money than my family does.
11:30So, if anything, she was the chump on that.
11:34Yeah, both Adrian and I, we gave each other prenups, so...
11:37Oh, man.
11:38Because we both had nothing at the time, so...
11:40Oh, okay.
11:40So wouldn't you argue no prenup was needed?
11:43Well, just in case.
11:44Oh, okay.
11:45Yeah.
11:46What if I found out I actually did have something, like an oil...
11:49Oh, the oil well.
11:50That's right.
11:51Okay, so you talked about Christian Parker.
11:54Let's go to this.
11:56Christian Parker and Jerry Jones have both talked about this.
12:00Christian Parker wants players that can play early.
12:03And then Jerry Jones said, hey, we can't redshirt a second-round pick.
12:06So, like, I realize right now they don't have a second-round pick, but obviously we've
12:11worked to fix that.
12:12If that is the case, do you think, whether it's Jermon McCoy or any other person, do you
12:20think that might steer away from some of those players in the draft?
12:23Yes, a thousand percent.
12:24I think Jermon McCoy is extremely talented, and I think on his pro day, he better prove that
12:29he is healthy.
12:30As he said he was, but didn't do anything of a combine.
12:33Yeah, and then do anything.
12:34My personal thought is, you see him do his stuff on pro day, and he looks ready, and he's
12:40ready, ready, ready, then go ahead and get him.
12:42But I think the Cowboys have said, we're going to go ahead and put a flag next to him.
12:46Monsoor is the guy.
12:47Delane's the guy that we probably would look at first.
12:51I'm kind of getting more and more excited about him, because we watched him.
12:54Like, we're very, Alec and I both know, we have a really good understanding of what the
12:58player is.
12:59And as, if Brada says he's the only player that didn't frustrate me whenever I was watching
13:04LSU games, then I'd feel pretty comfortable.
13:06That's a big bit of confidence right there.
13:07Now, again, when we were talking last week, though, there were some thoughts on that.
13:11Like, he has some things to prove, because he's not the fastest, he's not the biggest,
13:16he's not the strongest when it comes to Delane.
13:18But he's got all these good stickiness things that we like about him.
13:22So he does have some things to prove that he is, like, heady when it comes to the game.
13:26I'm using that a lot today.
13:27But it's becoming more prevalent.
13:29Being an intelligent player is important.
13:31But yeah, man, when it comes to a guy like McCoy, I don't think you'll see him go at
13:3612 or 20.
13:37If something was to happen that the Cowboys, this is one of the reasons, too, Kevin, that
13:41I don't think that they'd be willing to trade down for him and say, hey, let's get a discount
13:44special on this guy.
13:46Okay.
13:46I think that they would say, no, I'd rather take a player that we might be able to put
13:49on the field right now, because he's ready to go.
