00:00If you missed it for the eighth time in the last 15 years, the Cowboys are opening on Sunday night
00:05football against the New York football Giants. Cowboys 11-1 record against New York in season
00:10openers. Yeah, baby, this is going to be awesome. Now, I did remember this in the Cowboys post-draft
00:17presser, and it has now started to circulate today, but did Jerry accidentally slip up and
00:23tell us? So we all should have known, there should have been no surprise, this is who the Cowboys
00:27were opening up against. Here was Jerry just a couple weeks ago. Tomorrow, we've got these
00:33guys, we think there's enough players right there that they can be on the 53 and be helping
00:38us beat Giants. And Will, you guys have gone to the defense. Oh, wow. Jerry snuck one in
00:45there. Yes, he did. Now, I thought of it like, he does just kind of use the Giants, like, yeah,
00:50we're going to kick the Giants ass, you know, like the Giants are just kind of his fallback
00:54team. It's kind of brilliant because it's like, you know, they're going to play the
00:57Giants. You could just say that, but he knew. He knew. Did he give him a wink? Did
01:02you see the video? Did he give him a wink when he said Giants? I was trying to, like,
01:05see Chotty's body language right next to him. Like, oh, no, was he just, did he make
01:09a face or anything? And I do think that he was trying to contain himself for not trying
01:15to give anything away, like, crap. Jerry, really? Did you just tell everyone that we're
01:19playing the Giants week one? But he does, like, do you think, Brian, do they all know the
01:23schedule already? Like, they've all got it. These teams do have it. And we're just waiting
01:27for Thursday for the public to know. We would get it on the dot-com side the day of the
01:35release, really. Well, actually, the day before. And because then we were building out all
01:42the elements that, you know, like, we always had this, we had the schedule reveal, you
01:46know, we had to. Yeah, you got to make it. You got to make it. Video. Yeah. So there
01:50was a time where we were building out all these elements that they knew what it was
01:56and, you know, but it not, not, I don't think it was that early. Okay. But we admit
02:01nowadays, it's like the schedule release is a big thing around the league. Everybody's
02:06trying to one-up each other, these social media teams. They're all trying to, the social
02:09media teams are absolutely trying to one-up. How many little Russini-Vrabel
02:15Easter eggs are there going to be in some of these? A lot. There's going to be a ton.
02:19It hasn't been the Chargers that have been the best in the business over the last few
02:22years? The Chargers. Their social team's pretty dialed. The Chargers are the one that everybody's
02:26been kind of chasing here recently. Yeah. They're in a nice shop. Creativity. You've got
02:30to go back to Cowboys and Bucks open this season. I think it was in 2003. It was a noon
02:37kickoff. That's the last time the Cowboys have had a noon kickoff week one. That is
02:41crazy. I was still working for the team then. It was a home one at Texas Stadium. I actually
02:44went with my dad. We showed up. We rode the bus to get there. How hot was it that
02:48day for you? It was extremely hot and we were late. The bus was arriving late. I missed
02:52the first quarter and I was freaking fuming. The little me. But it was fine. Cowboys did
02:57win that day. So it was cool. You got to see Quincy spin it? We didn't have too many wins
03:01in 2000. No, there were a lot of wins. There were not a lot of wins. We didn't win many
03:04games. That was, God, what a nightmare. No, there weren't. But the Bucks were, you know,
03:09hey. They played Season 0 Pro quite a bit, actually, when you think about it, like the Giants
03:13slot. But they played Tampa Bay. They played the home and home against Tampa Bay and Brady
03:18in Tampa. Great game. Then when Dak broke his finger at home. And then I think they opened
03:23up the season with Romo one year in Tampa. And they might have gotten a win there. So
03:28yeah, the Bucks are kind of a team that's obscure that the Cowboys open the season up
03:32with a lot. But there you go. Cowboys, Bucks, and we know Cowboys and Ravens. The other thing
03:37that we got on Wednesday, we're going to get all the international games. That'll be as they're
03:41kind of slowly releasing the schedule stuff. But we did find out that Peacock landed a
03:46Week 17 Saturday doubleheader. So you're going to get a 325 game and a 7 o'clock game on Peacock,
03:53which President Trump is pissed about.
03:56Yeah, I mean, they keep spreading things out. Got to have nine different services to watch
04:03football.
04:03Stop. I do agree. You shouldn't have to pay to watch the NFL.
04:07It's the best way to get people onto your platform, though, is hijack their NFL team
04:11and say, the only way you can watch us this weekend is if you have this, that, or the other
04:14thing.
04:15No, you're right. Absolutely.
04:16You're going to feel horrible for those people.
04:17Okay, the story of Ryan Flannoy. Now, if you listen to the Cowboys hour earlier this
04:22season, Flannoy was on with Brad and he told some of this. But this is incredible. And
04:27Flannoy is certainly one of these players that you're hoping takes another step this year.
04:30I mentioned this on the stack with Brian last week. But I think Flannoy is going to be on
04:36a mission to prove, hey, you got George Pickens on a franchise tag. I can be the guy that steps
04:41up as wide receiver two next to CD. You don't need to worry about this. And he made the most
04:46of all of his opportunities last year. But here's the story of Ryan Flannoy. Did you know
04:51anybody like this in high school that grew this amount in just an offseason?
04:56Playing football, smallest on the field. My freshman year of high school, I was 5'3",
05:0299 pounds. Playing football, smallest on the field. We having this meeting, a freshman
05:08meeting. He asked the whole room, does anybody want to play college football? Of course, everybody
05:13raised their hand. He pointed me out and was like, but your side is unlikely. I'm not being
05:18harsh on you. I'm just being realistic. My heart went to my stomach. So that, like, moment
05:25floor, I'm like, not that I can tell you what I can do because I'm the only person on that
05:30team. 5'3", 99 pounds. We had a church revival there. I'm glad you said that. Yeah. Freshman
05:39year of high school. I wasn't sure what he said. 5'3", 99 pounds. Okay, so one of my best
05:45friends my senior year, and I know how much he weighed because we were always going to work
05:50out together, right? And he was like 140, 145 that entire year. Like, by the time he was
05:5719 years old, so this is like a year and a half, two years later, he was 210. And it
06:02just, it went like up and out. He went from like 5'11", 140 to about 6'2", 215, 220.
06:09I mean, and he's probably 250 pounds right now. Yeah, what, I mean, what a jump. Like,
06:13you're 5'3", 99. It's like, dude, yeah, you want to play in the NFL, good luck. And then
06:16all of a sudden you shoot up to 6'2". Amazing. Quite the story there for Ryan Floyd. And that
06:22dude, he's driven to be great. And I'm a believer in his game, man. Just late bloomer.
06:27Yeah. Absolutely. Probably a big reason why he was under-recruited. Didn't go to a big
06:30school. It's an incredible story. I don't know if he said that in the clip. I couldn't
06:34tell, but he said going into his senior year, like the coaches were going around the room
06:38being like, oh, you can make it D1. You, you, you. And well, not you, but like everybody
06:43else. And he said, it just hit him so hard. Yep. Wow. Yep. That's what he, that, it's
06:48just, ugh, crushed him. But now look at him on the Dallas Cowboys. Only player from a school
06:53that's made it to the National Football League. Did you see the video of this? Like, did
06:57you see where it was that there was a, uh, just so much, it was just the most chaotic post
07:04edit? Yeah. They, they put that sound on there and they did a bad job mixing it. Oh my God.
07:08Awful mix. Yeah. Doing way too much. Yeah. Cause the actual, uh, interview was a good
07:14listen. The post edit here was, was terrible. Yeah. Not good. Really, really bad stuff.
07:20But we love Flanoi and you've been on Flanoi. At least Flanoi's my guy. I love him. You loved
07:24him over somebody else, right? It was, uh, who was it? Was it Turpin or was it? Jigba?
07:28No, no. He loved JSN. JSN is wide receiver one. There was, there was, there was like some
07:33wide receiver stuff. Maybe it was Turpin. He just kept being like Flanoi, Flanoi, Flanoi.
07:38Yeah. Flanoi's going to be your wide receiver three. Yeah. You nailed that dude. 100%. What
07:44are you giggling about? I asked you him or lamb. You know the answer to that CD. For
07:49one more year. I'm trying to like downplay my love for Flanoi cause I'm not going to take
07:52him over CD or Bacons? No, no. Jackson, Smith and Jigba. Oh, him or, ooh. That's why I said
07:58it. It's tough. Do you believe if he was a wide receiver two for the entire season, he'd
08:04be what? 900 yards? 1100 yards? What do you think Flanoi is? I think 900 is fair. I think
08:10900 is absolutely fair. Like it to me, it's within reason. Yeah. I mean, like, look, I
08:14don't know if you're going to have 2000 yard receivers like you had last year, but I think
08:18that he's very capable of being a wide receiver. I mean, this year will be a lot. I think a
08:21wide receiver three is perfect right now. Uh, but I believe in him to be able to take
08:24that next step. CD or JSN is a great question. I think I'm still going to go with CD today.
08:30Okay. That could change after this year because JSN's really only had one amazing season where
08:35he's looked like a top five wide receiver. Now some of that's not his fault, right? DK
08:38was there and he was getting a little bit limited. They finally just let him unleash
08:42this season, but I'll still go CD for the time being. And maybe that's because I'm a little
08:46bit biased. Maybe dude, just maybe not, not a guarantee. Not guaranteed. Chris Boswell,
08:52man, congratulations for your $28 million extension, but he does not beat out Brandon
08:57Aubrey. Okay. He ties Brandon Aubrey for the highest paid kicker in the national football
09:02league. But I think that guy deserves it. Anybody that's kicking in Pittsburgh, that
09:05is a tough place to kick. Very difficult. And he's done it. He's been pretty nails. He
09:10has. Isn't he a local guy? He is a local guy. Fossil Ridge or something. I want to say
09:15Blake has an interesting story about Chris Boswell. Yeah. The Boz hopped in the, uh, the
09:20ex-girlfriend's DMs or something like that, which I mean, how old is Chris Boswell? I feel
09:24like he's up there. Yeah. I feel like he's definitely in his mid thirties. He's older
09:28than us. Yeah. But he, I think he went to, and who was Blake dating? Like this, he had
09:33to have been punching way down. Like we're talking 12 years younger. Yeah. Fossil Ridge
09:37high school. And then he went to Rice. Good for him. Shout out to the Boz. Uh, David
09:42Njoku has agreed to a one year deal with the Chargers. He's going to get $8 million. This
09:46is an underrated late off season signing. This could be a great fit with the Chargers.
09:52I was jarred with like last week or the week before when I was looking at remaining free
09:57agents. I'm like, wait, David Njoku is still on the street. I don't understand how that
10:02happened. He just got a one year deal. I wonder what the league knows that we don't. Cause
10:08on the surface, it's like David Njoku, like, yeah, he's super solid tight end, man. I know
10:12he was out in Cleveland because Harold Fannin, you know, he stepped up as a rookie. He's like,
10:16he's super solid. I get it. Move on. But I thought Njoku would have been a week one of
10:22NFL free agency kind of pickup. That's a nice move for the Chargers right there. Yeah. And
10:26I mean, as a, another option for Herbert, obviously you got McConkie, Quinton Johnston.
10:31They said they're not going to trade him. So as of now, Gadsden at tight end, right? Yes. And
10:35he was the rookie last year that popped. Yeah. Gadsden ended up being an absolute star. Uh, so
10:40that's a nice duo right there. They want to run some more 12 tight end personnel. They can do
10:44that. I like what they're doing. Maybe a Marion Hampton can finally only their offense. If
10:49there's tackles can stay healthy. Trey Harris was another good addition for them last year
10:52that they took at Ole Miss, the rookie. If those tackles can stay healthy, maybe finally
10:57Justin Herbert can have playoff success. Mike McDaniels talking about, Hey, I'm trying to
11:01make on the best quarterback in football. Good luck for Mikey. We'll see if he can adapt
11:05because he didn't do that in Miami, but maybe he's a guy that's just a really good OC, not
11:09a good head coach. I mean, didn't he have the best offense in the NFL with Tua? Yeah. A couple
11:14of his first year there, they were really good. Yeah. So I, I, I don't know. I could
11:18see this being the development that Herbert needs to actually, you know, be great. Yeah.
11:24Not just a traitsy dude. Who's good. I'm with you, dude, because Tua has so many limitations.
11:29And so McDaniel, there was only so much he could do with them and he got the most out
11:32of Tua for that stretch. But now you look at Herbert and like compared to Tua, you're
11:37talking about a guy who there is really no limitations in terms of what you can do as an
11:41offensive coordinator. I'm sure McDaniel is just smiling every single day, walking in
11:46there. Like I'm not constrained by a guy with kind of a noodle arm and no athleticism.
11:50The thing about him though, that I think maybe doesn't get all the recognition is, is how
11:55run dominant he is. He's fantastic. How well that's going to marry with what Harbaugh
12:00wants and how much pressure that's going to take off Herbert. I mean, for most NFL defenses,
12:05you have a 60% chance of being right. If you play pass, you know, if you can bring it
12:10back
12:10to 50-50, the mind games that it plays. Oh, 100%. And you're right. He's been able to
12:15do that too with not great offensive lines. So with the Chargers who have dealt with a
12:19ton of offensive line injuries, McDaniel is going to be a good remedy to solve some of
12:22that. Speaking of running the football, congratulations to Adrian Peterson. Last week, you told us about
12:27his son who's already getting offers as a freshman in high school. Now Adrian Peterson has been
12:33named to the 2026 Ring of Honor for the Minnesota Vikings. So congratulations. He wasn't in it
12:38initially. No, I know. Right. I figured like as soon as he retired, that would have been probably
12:42an easy move, but no, maybe some of the legal stuff. Maybe they like wanted to take a step
12:47back, but that 2012 MVP season, 10 of his 15 years were in Minnesota. So now he will be
12:54part of their Ring of Honor and we'll stay with the running backs. This is a sad story. Missouri
13:00running back Ahmad Hardy, who is he okay? He's well, he's, he's in stable condition. So yes,
13:04he is okay. He is okay, but he was shot at a concert and he was awesome last year. He's
13:10projected to be a first round pick possibly. Oh wow. He could be the best running back in
13:13all of college football. Hopefully this doesn't, you know, this is an injury to him and we're
13:17going to get more information. They're still doing an investigation on the shooting, but
13:235'10", 210 pounds. He transferred to Mizzou ahead of last season, finished second in all
13:29of college football and rushing, led the SEC in yards per carry. So he's going to recover
13:34from that and then we'll see how that impacts his season. But that is one of the big names
13:38in the upcoming NFL draft. Ahmad Hardy from Mizzou. We don't know where he was shot. It
13:44was at a concert. Oh yeah. Where on the body? Where on the body? That might have come out.
13:48Lower body? I think it's a, I want to say it's a lower body, but again, we're getting more
13:52information out on this. I don't know how much they've released yet. Yeah. I haven't seen
13:55anything about exactly what the nature of the, of the actual wound is. Just that there
14:00was a post from Mizzou and that we know that he was one of the victims. Yeah. You
14:05had, I mean, you had the Washington running back, Brian Robinson, a couple of years ago
14:08that was shot through the knee. Miraculously didn't like slow him down. Then you had the
14:1449ers wide receiver last year, right?
14:16Yeah, here's all.
14:17But both those guys made it back during the season. You know, like.
14:21It's true.
14:22You know, gunshot wounds sounds terrifying. And I'm sure last night was, was horrible for
14:28him, but it doesn't have to be career altering apparently, which is surprising.
