In a cinema-style case from Karnataka’s Belagavi district, a newlywed woman allegedly conspired with her lover to rob her husband’s house and flee with gold ornaments to start a new life together.

Police have arrested both the woman and her lover and recovered the stolen valuables.

The accused woman, identified as Haseena Nadaph, had married Shareef, a resident of Hosakote village, around two months ago. However, according to police, she was already in a relationship with Hanamanth Marapur before the marriage, and the affair allegedly continued even after the wedding.

The incident was reported from Hosakote village in Ramdurg taluk of Belagavi district.

Police said Haseena allegedly took advantage of the absence of family members and stole around 154.6 grams of gold ornaments worth approximately ₹21 lakh, along with 45 grams of silver ornaments, from her husband’s house.

Investigators suspect she had planned to elope with her lover after carrying out the theft.

Following a complaint filed at Katakol Police Station by Shareef’s relative, Dilshan Nadaph, police launched an investigation into the case.

Officials said suspicion quickly fell on Haseena, and within 48 hours, police traced and arrested both accused.

The stolen gold ornaments were also recovered from the duo.

Police later produced the accused before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
