00:00The government will finalise the proposed review of fuel subsidies for rich Malaysians as soon as possible, says Prime Minister
00:09Anwar Ibrahim.
00:10Anwar said this is subject to an ongoing study to determine which specific income groups would be affected so that
00:18the initiative does not end up burdening the upper middle income group.
00:21Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said the matter is being studied by the National Economic Action Council's Crisis
00:29Management Task Force, led by corporate figure Hassan Marikan.
00:33He said the proposal had been tabled about a month earlier by the task force headed by Hassan and was
00:40subsequently reviewed amid discussions over whether it should involve the T5, T10, T15 or T20 income groups.
00:48Yesterday, UMNO Youth announced that it would table a motion at the next UMNO Supreme Council meeting to propose excluding
00:56those in the T20 income group from fuel subsidies.
