00:05It's a messy mixture again out there today. Some clouds, some sun and a few showers here and there.
00:11Two areas of cloud of note, two areas of low pressure.
00:15This one just brushing its way across northern Scotland.
00:18Got high pressure closest to the UK, but it's a fairly feeble affair and this low is just gradually nudging
00:24it away.
00:24And we are seeing a few showers here and there, some through central and southern parts of Scotland.
00:28They'll work up towards eastern Scotland and there's that low pressure bringing some wet and breezy weather into the western
00:35Isles of Scotland,
00:36getting onto the west coast through the afternoon.
00:38The odd shower across the east of Northern Ireland may affect Belfast and a scattering of showers for Wales.
00:44Northern parts of Devon perhaps getting into the coast of Lancashire as well.
00:48One or two showers also across East Anglia and the southeast, but they're pretty well scattered.
00:53Much of the country will be dry through the rest of today.
00:57It's still on the cool side, admittedly, but temperatures in many places a little bit higher than yesterday and feeling
01:01quite a bit warmer, I suspect, on the east coast compared to yesterday as well.
01:05So a little warmer here, even though, as I say, temperatures are still around or a touch below average for
01:10the time of year.
01:12As we go through the evening and overnight, we'll see a bit more of that showery rain trickling south into
01:16western Scotland, across Northern Ireland.
01:17A few more showers this evening, a heavy one for Northern England and the Midlands before edging away through the
01:23early hours.
01:24And at the same time, more showery rain then likely to work its way up across southern counties of England.
01:30But again, many places for much of the night will be dry.
01:33Quite a bit of cloud around, but where we get some clearer skies later in the northwest and across eastern
01:38counties of England,
01:39we'll see those temperatures dipping down well into single figures and there is the possibility in rural spots of a
01:44touch of frost here and there.
01:46Where it stays cloudy, there are temperatures holding up at eight or nine Celsius.
01:50Still a bit of a messy mix tomorrow.
01:51Quite a bit of cloud around, some sunny spells.
01:54There will be some more showers, probably, I think, an increased amount of showers tomorrow over southern counties of England
02:00initially,
02:00into Wales and then spreading up into the Midlands.
02:02One or two heavy ones from the storms that are possible.
02:05We'll also see this zone of showery rain drifting south from southern Scotland into northern England.
02:11A drier, brighter day for most of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:14Some sunny spells, particularly in the northwest.
02:16Just a few showers drifting in on the breeze here.
02:19But notice where that breeze is coming from, bringing down cooler air.
02:22Whereas in the south, I see things turning a bit warmer where we see some sunny spells across southern most
02:27counties of England.
02:2818, 19, perhaps even back up to 20 Celsius, whereas we'll only be at 9 or 10 across northern Scotland.
02:35Elsewhere, when we get the sunny spells, it's feeling quite pleasant.
02:38But there will be, as I say, a few more heavy showers around through Friday afternoon and into the evening.
02:43Perhaps over parts of the Midlands, Wales and northern England in this zone could catch a downpour or two.
02:49They should tend to ease away as we go through Friday night and into Saturday.
02:54The mixed picture continues, though, as we head into the weekend.
02:57For more on that, you'll want to watch our full weekend video.
