00:06The weather's been fairly messy for the past few days,
00:08and that is going to continue as we head into Friday.
00:11We've got an air of low pressure.
00:12You can see the wind swirling around it here,
00:14throwing a weather front across western Scotland into Northern Ireland,
00:17bringing some outbreaks of rain here through the night.
00:19Further south, we've seen some heavy showers.
00:21They'll tend to fade, and then we'll see potentially some further showers
00:24coming up across southern counties of England and into Wales later
00:28as we head towards dawn.
00:30Clearer skies across eastern parts of England.
00:32That's where we'll see the lowest temperatures,
00:34and it's in this zone where, if the skies stay clear long enough,
00:37we could see a frost in rural areas.
00:39Most towns and cities holding up above freezing,
00:41but certainly in the countryside, pockets of frost are possible,
00:44as they are across northwest Scotland as skies clear here again
00:48as we head towards dawn.
00:50So it's a messy mix again on Friday.
00:52You should see some sunny spells over eastern England,
00:54southernmost counties of England as well.
00:56Some showers across the Midlands, Wales and northern England,
01:00and they may well turn heavier, particularly from mid-morning onwards
01:03across more central parts of southern England, south Wales,
01:06drifting back into the Midlands.
01:07So you could catch a couple of heavy showers during the course of the day
01:11in this central zone.
01:12A rumble of thunder is possible.
01:14Staying fairly cloudy across this part of the country
01:17between England and Scotland borders.
01:19It's pretty dull here with outbreaks of mostly light rain on and off.
01:22A few showers again across Scotland, but generally northern Scotland drier than Thursday
01:28and mostly dry in northern Ireland too.
01:30Just one or two scattered showers likely here also.
01:33Quite a bit of cloud, but some good spells of sunshine coming through.
01:36And of course, this time of year, a bit of sunshine makes all the difference.
01:39Temperatures a little bit higher across the south.
01:41Yes, it may start pretty fresh, but by the afternoon,
01:44we could sneak up to 20 Celsius in one or two places.
01:47But further north, we've got the colder air drifting in,
01:50so temperatures may struggle a little bit to get much above 10 or 11 Celsius.
01:54And this kind of pincer movement continues with the cooler air pushing south,
01:57the warmer air also pushing north.
02:00And that may well just invigorate this old weather front a little bit
02:04through Friday night and particularly into Saturday,
02:07keeping things cloudy in this zone with outbreaks of rain and drizzle.
02:10That will also keep the temperatures up,
02:12but with the colder air in across northern Scotland,
02:15again, pockets of frost likely here.
02:17Temperatures will dip down where it's clear over central and eastern England,
02:22well down into single figures here.
02:25On to the start of the weekend,
02:26and we've still got a bit of a messy picture,
02:29almost a four-way split,
02:30something a bit drier and brighter across the Midlands and Wales.
02:34This old weather front providing cloud and outbreaks of rain.
02:37And with the breeze coming in from the North Sea,
02:39that's going to feel pretty fresh from Edinburgh down to Newcastle.
02:43Further north, sunny spells and just a few showers,
02:45but we could also see some heavy ones breaking out
02:47over central parts of Scotland.
02:50And some heavy showers then also likely over Wales,
02:52maybe up into the Midlands and northern England for the afternoon.
02:56So again, a few areas we need to keep a close eye.
02:58It's getting to that time of year
02:59where we could easily see some heavy, even thundery showers.
03:02And then the potential for more showers
03:04to push up across southern counties
03:06during the afternoon and into the evening.
03:08It will be quite a bit warmer here by this stage,
03:10easily 20 degrees.
03:11One or two pockets could get to 21 or 22 Celsius,
03:15whereas we'll, again, only be in single figures
03:17across northern Scotland, thanks to that northerly wind,
03:20which will eventually win out.
03:21This cloudier zone, as I've been talking about,
03:24is part of a weather front which splits the difference
03:26between the warming air in the south
03:28and that colder air further north.
03:30But as we head into the second half of the weekend,
03:32we're likely to see the colder air pushing back further south.
03:36So it will be a fresher feel across southern areas
03:38as we head into Sunday.
03:40Again, one or two showers,
03:41but a little ridge of high pressure
03:43bringing a lot of dry weather
03:44until this low brings some wet weather
03:47across parts of northern Scotland.
03:49As I said, it's a messy old mix, plenty going on.
03:52You'll want to keep up to date with the very latest.
