00:05For many, a fine day out there, but we are looking at some wet and windy weather coming in across
00:10the far northwest.
00:11The satellite picture across the Atlantic shows this big column of cloud.
00:15It's associated with the jet stream, that fast-moving ribbon of air high up in the atmosphere that it's also
00:22pushing in this area of low pressure.
00:25To the south, though, we've got high pressure also slowly building in here.
00:29So, a bit of a north-south split developing.
00:32We've already got the high cloud from that low pressure spinning in across the northwest,
00:37and outbreaks of rain trickling in now to parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland through the rest of the
00:43day.
00:43Ahead of that, maybe one or two showers over eastern parts of Scotland, but pretty well scattered.
00:48Also, the odd shower further south across England and Wales.
00:51Again, perhaps in the east, maybe for East Anglia, but they'll be very well scattered.
00:55Most of England and Wales dry, bright, a mixture of sunny spells and clouds, and the winds at this stage
01:02fairly light.
01:02But the winds will be picking up across Northern Ireland and western Scotland as the wet weather moves in here.
01:08Quite a temperature contrast across the UK.
01:11Generally around or above average for most, though.
01:13Feeling quite warm in the sunny spells, certainly across the south.
01:16In 26, we might squeak up to 27 celsius, but starting to feel cooler as the winds pick up in
01:22the northwest,
01:23and that rain sets in for the evening, becoming more widespread over Scotland.
01:27We'll see some outbreaks of rain through the evening trickling into Northern England, so turning a bit damp here.
01:32Same goes for North and West Wales, and eventually some of that patchy rain by this stage.
01:36Not that useful for the gardens across the Midlands and Southwest England, too.
01:41At the same time, it turns drier through the night across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:44But windier, going to be a blustery, gusty old start to Thursday, something we've not seen much of recently.
01:51Quite a warm, humid night across the south, 15, 16.
01:54Maybe some towns and cities holding up at 17 celsius, a little more comfortable further north.
01:58And certainly a fresh, gusty feel here.
02:01In the south, quite a grey, murky start.
02:04Some mist and low cloud around the coast of South Wales, Southwest England.
02:08Outbreaks of rain and drizzle.
02:09We'll see a little bit of that moving through East Anglia and the South East.
02:12But again, nothing for gardeners to get excited about.
02:15Gradually clears away.
02:17A gusty, blustrous start across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:20The wind steadily easing for most, and the showers fading away as well.
02:24So, morning showers, yes.
02:25But generally, by the afternoon, most places dry it bright with some sunny spells.
02:30Main exception will be Shetland, where it will stay windy, and there will be further showers coming in here.
02:36Temperature-wise, well, similar values to today.
02:38Certainly across the north, they're probably a fresher feel, a degree or so down.
02:43But again, in the south and east, with some sunshine, we could get to 26 or 27 degrees Celsius.
02:49And generally, the weather stays fine through Thursday evening.
02:52A very pleasant summer's evening for most.
02:55The wind's continuing to ease, although still quite lively over the northern isles of Scotland.
02:59The dry weather then continues into Thursday night and into Friday morning across the south.
03:05We've got that high pressure building in, and that is going to bring many places a fine weekend.
03:10But further north, we've got more weather fronts to contend with, likely to bring some cloud and rain here at
03:16times into the weekend.
03:17But this high pressure building in the south may well see temperatures ticking up a little bit as we head
03:22into it next week.
