00:57woman spent more than five months in jail for a crime she didn't commit one that happened a thousand
01:02miles from her home and police say ai is to blame 50 year old angela lips says she's never even

01:10to north dakota but police there issued an arrest warrant for her for bank fraud she says u.s marshals
01:16arrested her at gunpoint at her home and she was then later extradited to north dakota lips wrote

01:28exhausted and humiliated police in fargo now say a false positive from an ai facial recognition tool
01:35used by a neighboring police department is what's behind this mess flagging lips's photo as a potential
01:41suspect but they forwarded that information to our uh detectives who then uh assumed wrongly
01:50that they had also sent in the surveillance photos with that photo id angela lips was finally released
01:57months later when bank records proved that she was in tennessee at the time of the crime the police
02:02chief says they've already made changes to prevent this from happening again though he did not directly
02:07apologize for what has already happened software company clearview ai has not returned cnn's request
02:13for comment and as far as we can tell they're still investigating the actual original crime i feel

05:43her yeah she you could tell she was getting irritated on the stand and she she just didn't
05:49care at this point i want to know what her her lawyers they it felt like they did not prep

05:58as someone whose uh credentials are watching television or watching the television shows about
06:03uh lawyer type stuff so don't take or take any of this with a grain of salt however i know

06:08know that typically you get up there you have some level of idea of how this goes and probably with

06:14case this cut and dry or maybe not cut and dry but this focused you should have a general idea

06:18one what some of the questions are going to be so you have a she she felt like everything was

06:24fresh to her yes to me my personal opinions it felt like she probably didn't even know he was
