00:17loop sports radio 610 it's your man figgy fig holding it down on a monday happy monday to
00:23everyone out there so something happened to a houston defense attorney for the first time in
00:29his 46 years of practicing law let's go to fox 26 news and first we gotta give a round of
00:37applause
00:37to mr randy wallace randy wallace shout out to randy wallace here's randy wallace with the story
00:44in his 46 years practicing law john petruzzi says he's represented hundreds of murder defendants
00:51but he said what happened yesterday with his court appointed client was a first for the veteran
00:59attorney on the surface the psi hearing in the 178th judge kelly johnson's court was fairly routine
01:0627 year old jacarius lewis pled guilty to a murder that happened in april of 2024 at 7959 sunbury
01:15lewis was facing 5 to 50 years the state recommended 50 years and the judge agreed
01:23the judge pronounced the sentence my client hit me in the face and people in the courtroom say
01:31that i fell back i was standing i fell back against the chair and then i hit a counter and
01:37hit the back
01:37of my head and apparently fell on the ground but i don't remember any of that and then the next
01:43thing
01:43i remember is i'm standing in the courtroom and there's just a ton of people there bailiffs and
01:49paramedics and all kinds of commotion and then somebody said to me john do you realize that
01:55your client just punched you in the face and i said no i didn't know that i was kind of
02:01shocked really
02:02i mean i've done this a long time and i've never had a client hit me before and uh you
02:08know i've lasted
02:09all these years and uh i was i was shocked i thought we were getting along okay i didn't get
02:15the impression
02:16that he was ready to hit me or anything no and he never he didn't like you know threaten me
02:21that
02:21morning and uh but apparently when he heard the sentence that that kind of you know pushed a button
02:28let's say lewis is now charged with injury to the elderly the da's office requested that lewis's bond
02:36be set at 100 million dollars all right 100 million all right man cold clock though man how old was
02:45that guy the uh the odor the defense attorney yeah yeah because they they got him on injury to the
02:52elderly i don't know why but i didn't know that was i'm guessing over the age of 50 right i
02:56didn't
02:56know that yeah just to be safe how long did you say he's been practicing i'm 46 years oh then
03:01he's
03:01over 70 yeah i was like i was about to put the number at like 75 personally dude man and
03:07i'm just
03:09i wish we i hate to be this gruesome but i wish we could see video of this just the
03:14guy's reaction
03:15like did he hear the 50 years said you ain't do nothing for me he don't remember nothing yeah he
03:22got knocked he said he just woke up everybody was around looking at him i guess that guy said i
03:28wouldn't hit him for 20 50 i mean if we're gonna be honest what did he stand to lose he's
03:35going
03:35away from oh yeah no i think that's a big part of it yeah i don't think he's gonna get
03:38bailed out
03:39anytime soon either no yeah 100 million dollars yeah not gonna get bailed out and i have a strong
03:46feeling that he's not gonna be let out on good behavior at any point but yeah look not saying that
03:51he's right by any means because clearly buddy is wrong however five to 50 and i got the maximum
03:58i can understand the ill the animosity yeah i wouldn't have turned that into a punch however
04:02i can understand how you like man this defense attorney ain't do nothing for me five to 50 is
04:07a big window that's what i'm saying and we ain't get 45 yeah you ain't get 40 yeah no no
04:12no 50 all
04:14of them we're getting you all it's like waiting on the refrigerator ain't it he got all the years
04:18right there from back in the day getting your cable turned on yeah yeah it's like yeah we'll be
04:25there in a three-hour window and they get there right at the end damn i done waited this whole
04:30day yeah you wasted my whole day yeah but yeah uh also there's some people mad at you that said
04:36these uh that you said that 50 over 50 was elderly they mad at you no i was trying to
04:41give them the
04:41benefit of the doubt i'm just you know i don't want to call nobody too old that's that's kind of
04:45like playing the down card a little bit on a woman yeah how old do you think i am oh
04:50you look
04:50about 29 yeah yeah not not a day over 27 yeah no a damn well that girl over push it
04:56look at 50
04:58try to be nice but salute to that uh defense attorney man he he sounded like he was a good
05:04sport about it too he was tough sounds like he needs a different level of defense bob and weave big
05:08dog bob and weave yeah yeah next time maybe they need to have handcuffs on or something or he need
05:14to stand on the other side of the room yeah it's the mixtape in the loop sports radio 610
05:21here's another story this one is about a weed man who was arrested but here's the thing he got
05:28arrested he got put in the back of the uh police car and his phone started going off like via
05:34uh
05:35what car play you know you got the car play going oh wow and in the office no in the
05:41cop car no in
05:42his car i mean he's close enough to his car oh okay oh gotcha gotcha okay so he got arrested
05:47he
05:47got put in the back of the cop car yeah meanwhile the cop nearby yeah that's really i hate when
05:53that happens like the very few times that i valet when they turn on the car and then my music
05:57starts
05:58playing i'm like hey hey hey i need you to hear so were they listening yeah so so i bet
06:02they answer
06:02the call so the phone started ringing yep the cops answered the call and guess who was calling
06:07somebody looking for the wee man exactly and this is how it sounded press new connect phone button
06:12to answer answer it hello hi you at the spot yeah i'm at the spot what spot where you want
06:19me to meet
06:25so so so what you what you looking for what you trying to get
06:32so what you trying to get for the lit 20 you want a seven or three five or three five
06:38what's the seven is this is for me yeah it's for me i mean it's decent it'll get you by
06:44i can do uh
06:45the seven for twenty i like you got cash out yeah i got cash out all right i'm like what
06:52you want
06:53what you want you about to pull up to the spot yeah why you know yeah yeah right yeah that's
06:59cool
06:59that's cool with me all right officers got a two for one oh my god i need my attorney friends
07:09i was
07:09just talking to attorneys that's got to be entrapment right i need my attorney friends to help me out
07:14that's not a good case clearly i've watched too much police dramas because i have no idea
07:18whether and didn't identify themselves don't you have to identify yourself i don't know i don't i
07:22don't know either but i've watched tv too i've also watched law and order yeah now spoiler alert i
07:28don't think they actually met up with the person because wait so they just let her get out to the
07:33corner she's just out here standing there waiting for the movie elm is a long street according to
07:38this next clip i'm about to play oh really that's like saying meet me on west timer oh like that
07:42could be
07:43that could be two hours away yeah but it didn't stop here here's what the cops told the weed man
07:49they actually went back to the weed man that was in the back of the car and this is what
07:54they told
07:55him hey brother i talked to one of your customers oh hold on hold on hold on hold on no
08:01son what they
08:02said they're gonna meet you they said they're gonna meet you on elm street
08:05oh seven for twenty seven for twenty seven for twenty no man you know how long elm street is
08:13i know y'all ain't gonna find me man damn this up say you on the way there listen yeah
08:21yo gang
08:31you know i'm ready for you to punch me dead in my i swear to god you don't want that
08:36smoke why you
08:36want that smoke and you don't know me i'm super t stupid mcnewby and you don't know me i'm super
08:41man man yeah and i want superman to punch super t stupid mcnewby dead in this shit up
08:47at least they're getting along yeah they're having a good time they're a real good reporter
08:51you can tell they probably know the guy pretty well yeah and they was just like man look they
08:56they was he was sitting in the back of the car just cracking up i'm like this i'm sure this
09:01ain't
09:01the first time you got oh i'm guessing not i'm guessing you are probably a regular i didn't
09:06realize that the cops would relay the message they're like hey we took a message for you your
09:10customer would like to meet you on l she's online for yeah you sitting there oh come on man why
09:16you
09:16got to do that man yeah what was he mad about because to me it sounded like he was mad
09:20that
09:20they didn't get more specific details it was like which which corner are we supposed to meet at
09:25yeah that's what it sounded like can we wrap this up so i can go get this yeah can y
09:29'all go pick
09:29that up for me you know elm street is a long ass street man come on man
09:36it's the mistake in the loop sports radio 610 got to get a got to give us a loop and
09:42maybe happy
09:42trails or probably happy trails to spirit spirit airline oh yeah it's over with for them they
09:49shutting down they did not get that 500 million dollar government bailout and here's a pilot
09:55speaking he's speaking on that little intercom giving his customers a heartfelt message a lot
10:01of crazy stuff has happened but it's funny as we sit here i'll speak for myself um i don't remember
10:08any of the bad times just the good ones so spirit um believe it or not started flying in 1983
10:19it was called charter air at the time and in 1992 and changed his name to spirit
10:29so we've been in the air since 1983 what is that 43 years
10:36and unfortunately that's over so thank you for your support over the years
10:45and uh onward and upward right go god bless you all
10:57have y'all ever took spirit not yeah once yeah you took it once not once oh not one not
11:03i took it exactly one time i have taken spirit a number of times we we are we balling on
11:08a budget
11:08and apparently i did not realize this but i know a lot of people started getting on this
11:12so i had to try and double check it pretty safe option in all of in all of its years
11:17of operating
11:18not a single uh crash event that's pretty amazing yeah yeah so i mean look they gonna charge you for
11:25breathing on the flight don't get me wrong however you gonna make it and so shout out to spirit
11:30airlines they were they were doing a very vital uh task and not to get like too down into the
11:37weeds
11:38i actually uh i'm very scared about what the prices are going to look like here soon now that the
11:42budget
11:42airline isn't there to keep hold people down that's a big the big part of it but uh we do
11:47need to be a
11:48little real here as well and because that's heartbreaking you know clearly the guy was emotionally invested
11:54as a pilot in spirit airlines as it's heartbreaking that so many people are now out of work you do
12:01have
12:01to set that aside from spirit airlines ran itself out of business you know there's yeah there's there's
12:07just absolutely no question about it the airline industry is tenuous enough as it is and they were
12:13really regarded as not just budget but not very well run well i mean yeah the the idea was they're
12:20running pretty thin in order to offer to undercut and hope that they you know through volume would get
12:25their numbers on on budget flight costs and i think that obviously rising costs right now especially
12:30when you talk about fuel yeah then uh then put it to a place where it was it was untenable
12:35but the
12:35thing about is i think you need uh and not to get it's like the economics of because i'm not
12:39what
12:39versed enough to talk in a way that i would feel comfortable but uh i think you need you need
12:44the low
12:44end of this sure uh in order to you know in order to force other other force competition right in
12:50a
12:50basic way of saying and you just you just don't have you don't have that to the point of have
12:55you
12:55seen this on social media apparently someone is like proposing a crowdfunded attempt at buying spirit
13:02really yes not gonna work oh i mean how often do crowdfunded attempts like this actually work i just
13:09love the concept they're like you know we're gonna do spirit spirit airlines don't exist
13:14we're gonna make it exist by making it to a co-op i'm like all right more power to i
13:18think they've
13:19some there's been a commitment of something like 40 million dollars or something that's already now
13:23they let's be honest no money had to be actually committed it was just pledges and i think you
13:28need to get to like a billion and a half in order to make this a viable thing good luck
13:32right these
13:32are different numbers that we're talking about but i do love that people for some reason have had
13:36such an attachment to spirit they're like i'll save you spirit even though we always make fun of you
13:40whenever you have an opportunity to talk about you yeah yeah yep
13:44all right it's the mixtape in the loop sports radio 16 salute to all the 76er fans uh philly beat
13:51boston in game seven in boston um this past saturday and philly fans had to huckle the uh the heckle
13:59the
13:59folks over at nbc boston and this is what it sound like and somebody got a little fed up on
14:06the set
14:06philadelphia they came out and balled out tonight celtics had one lead in this game it was in the second
14:11quarter when they hit a three to go up 37 36 but it's going out otherwise uh taking control taking
14:17the series they win this game seven 109
14:32wait is that one of the dudes on the show yeah getting the you are ugly if i'm not mistaken
14:37i'm not
14:37sure because they didn't show the camera who was saying it but brian scalabrini is on that sounds like
14:42so that that might my guess would have probably been scowl scowl got drawn off sides yeah oh man
14:49and then the other thing is i'm wondering if they they was that a plan break or was they already
14:55going to break already because it just got so loud they're like they're like we'll be back in the
15:00moment he's like we can't even we gotta get security so yeah man here's the thing as much as we
15:07talk
15:07about philly fans they do stuff like this yeah they do their presence will be known they are great
15:11at being annoying which is not nothing by any means no it's big and which is why it's so weird
15:16that they can't get fill the stadium with their own fans for the next series well it's not even that
15:21they can't fill it's just they sell them whatever because knicks fans will pay premium so they'll sell
15:26some of these tickets and then you end up with a circumstance where hey there's a lot of knicks fans
15:30in here or whatever so yeah shout out to shout out to joel trying to make sure that that does
15:34not
15:34happen however yeah and i get y'all out of here on this um i'm just throwing this out here
15:41i don't
15:41know how y'all feel about this um front office sports reported or they tweeted this skip bayless
15:47is set to appear oh yeah alongside steven a smith on friday's episode of first take so are you guys
15:55oh yeah tuning in to this oh yeah yeah absolutely i think i might i might have to check this
16:00out
16:00i am 100% good on it really 100% good on it it's entertainment man i've never been particularly
16:07entertained by it and uh if you if you like first take with steven a and skip not as much
16:14really well i say not as much it was fine like i understand the benefit of it i am not
16:19a fan of
16:20skip bayless nearly as much like i can see the i can see the i guess artistry for lack of
16:27a better term
16:28and the steven a smith i've just never really gotten down with the skip bayless of it all
16:32i've always started right there i know that's why i'm kind of like oh i'll check it out yeah i'm
16:37kind of curious what's i feel like he's lost his fastball can we be honest well yeah probably a
16:42little bit he's lost his fastball i i've always defended skip bayless even though i think he's
16:46irritating and i think he you know clearly pushes buttons for just for the sake of pushing buttons
16:50but the man knows how to get people talking and and and how to you know strike nerves etc and
16:57there's
16:57as we know that's a big part of what i wonder i wonder what the hell is espn or maybe
17:02this could
17:02be a steven a thing i wonder what they trying to do here like are they trying to test the
17:07waters a
17:08little bit good question i never would have thought he would be back on yeah first take at all yeah
17:13that's a good question i wonder if they trying to test the waters a little bit i don't know if
17:17this
17:17is a larger espn thing because i think it's being billed as one time only and i don't know if
17:21they
17:21would do that so specifically if this was one of those you know test the waters yeah i do that's
17:25how you test the water though that is maybe so i i think that they would just kind of be
17:30like hey
17:30he's gonna be here and they wouldn't necessarily be so hard on hey guys it's only happening once
17:34i think that this is more of an attempted reconciliation between those two dudes specifically
17:38because there's been a little bit of not quite bad blood but it's been weird between them and i
17:43think that this is steven a smith smith reaching out to skip bay it's like hey we cool right we
17:48can do this for a show and at least like i hear you i don't think i don't think either
17:52one of these
17:53guys do nothing do something for no reason okay yeah and they they did um do an episode together
17:59at one point i forgot what podcast it was i don't know if it was yeah skip spot or skip's
18:04podcast or what
18:05but they did sit down and talk at one point yeah so i don't think this would be the first
18:10time they
18:11sat in front of each other but i i don't know i feel like they trying to test the water
18:16a little
18:16bit all right well uh are y'all excited about the possibility of that this happening more than once
18:22no okay all right because i do want to see it i do oh yeah it's entertainment y'all y
18:27'all gonna run
18:28the numbers up so the espn is like actually this works let's do it i feel like maybe they feel
18:32like
18:32it's getting something getting stale where they trying to bring that could be well remember steven a
18:37smith has pretty much uh final authority on that like he executive produces this so it would have
18:41to come from his mind either way uh i'm good so that's ultimately the point and i'm always good by
18:47uh when i get a chance to partake in uh figgy's mixtape 120 p.m every weekday right here on
18:52sports
18:53radio 610 if you see something that you believe to be uh mixtape worthy hit figgy up on social
18:57shout out the box of legacy too he the one oh i've seen this story already but he tagged me
19:01in the
19:01cop story oh okay very good yeah very good yeah there you go box of legacy i think you'll do
19:06that
19:06at the figgy fig and he'll shout you out just like he shouted out box of legacy
