26 April - National morning forecast presented by Greg Dewhurst.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest Met Office forecast.
00:04And high pressure still dominates our weather pattern at the moment.
00:08Some subtle changes over the next 24 hours may just allow a few showers to develop, particularly
00:13across the north and east of the UK, but for most of us it will remain largely settled
00:18as we move through the second half of the weekend and into the beginning of next week
00:22as well.
00:23This morning, temperatures in mid to high single figures, around 9 or 10 Celsius to
00:29start this morning for those running the London Marathon, but there will be plenty of sunshine
00:33to come here through the day and temperatures lifting as we move through into the afternoon.
00:38For most of us, a dry picture as we move through the day, particularly across England and Wales.
00:43There will be some medium and high level cloud at times making the sunshine hazy and it could
00:48just give one or two splashes of light rain, say over the Pennines.
00:52And a few showers bubbling up across parts of Northern Ireland, Northern Scotland as we
00:57move through the day.
00:58But even here there will be plenty of sunny spells between those showers and with light
01:01winds, temperatures lifting in that late April sunshine.
01:06Generally for most, the high teens, locally low 20s, 20, 21 Celsius as possible.
01:11So by mid-afternoon, temperatures in the London area, 20 degrees for those still running.
01:16A little cooler along some eastern coast, but maybe quite, not quite as cool as what we
01:22saw on Saturday, reaching around 15 Celsius here.
01:25Still across North East Scotland, temperatures around 9 to 13 degrees where we'll see those
01:31showers.
01:31And they will continue into the evening time.
01:34Elsewhere, we'll see some clear spells developing.
01:36Any thicker cloud in the east may just produce one or two light showers into the early hours.
01:41But I think most places will be dry.
01:43A few showers also continuing across parts of Northern Ireland and North West Scotland.
01:49Under the clearest skies and with light winds, we'll see again some mists and fog patches
01:53possible.
01:54Towns and cities generally in the range of four to nine degrees.
01:57But in the countryside, we could see temperatures down close to, if not just a touch below freezing
02:03for one or two of us.
02:04But it does mean a sunny start to Monday morning.
02:07Some low cloud in the east quickly clearing.
02:10A few showers from the word go across Northern Ireland, Northern parts of Scotland, and they'll
02:14remain here through the day.
02:15And as we move through into the afternoon, the clouds will bubble up, particularly across
02:19central eastern parts of England as well.
02:22And we could see one or two showers developing here.
02:25I think the showers perhaps most frequent across northeastern parts of England into southeast
02:30Scotland.
02:31One or two of the showers here could be on the sharp side, but lots of dry weather for
02:35many of us.
02:36Best of the sunshine further south and west you are.
02:38And here, temperatures around 20 or 21 Celsius.
02:43And for most, again, the mid to high teens.
02:46So temperatures remaining above average for the time of year.
02:50Those showers will slowly fade away Monday evening time and then high pressure dominating
02:55as we go through the week generally.
02:57So it looks like it should be a largely dry picture, plenty of sunny spells and temperatures
03:02likely to remain above average for the time of year.
