26 October - National Morning Forecast presented by Greg Dewhurst
Transcript
00:00Hello there. Some of us enjoyed an extra hour in bed last night with the clock change and it's all changed with the weather today.
00:09We've had a cold northerly airflow across us so far this weekend, but all eyes to the northwest as this next weather system brings cloud and rain in from the northwest and sweeps it southeastwards across the country over the next 24 hours.
00:23It remains blustery into the beginning of next week, but signs of a bit more Atlantic weather coming in, allowing temperatures to rise a little further as the week goes on.
00:34But this morning, a chilly start, particularly where we've got the sunny skies across central and eastern parts, but it quickly clouds over across Northern Ireland and Scotland with outbreaks of rain moving in here and pushing slowly southeastwards through the day.
00:46The rain could bump into some colder air across the Scottish mountains to give a little snow here.
00:51Not unusual for the time of year and the rain by the afternoon reaching the higher ground of Wales and the southwest of England.
00:59The southeast of England generally staying cloudy, but perhaps thick enough by the end of the afternoon for some light and patchy rain developing here.
01:07Temperatures similar to what we saw on Saturday, 8 to 12 Celsius, and with a lot of cloud around, the wind still coming in from a northwesterly direction.
01:16It will be rather chilly.
01:18Into the evening time, a few glimmers of sunshine initially across Northern Ireland, Western Scotland before sunset.
01:24Elsewhere, generally cloudy with showery outbreaks of rain pushing southeastwards.
01:28And then overnight, we see further rain stretching across parts of Wales, southwest England.
01:32Elsewhere, clear spells and showers, and still rather breezy, generally with more cloud around, temperatures not falling as low compared to last night.
01:41So generally in the range of 4 to 9 Celsius, perhaps even a few places in the southwest staying in double figures.
01:48But it does mean a cloudy, damp start to the day here on Monday morning.
01:51Elsewhere, blustery showers from the word go.
01:54Generally through the morning into the afternoon, the showers become a little less frequent,
01:57though it remains quite cloudy across southwest Wales into the west country with some outbreaks of rain,
02:02which may push back into Northern Ireland later on in the day.
02:06Here's the dividing line between some milder air across the southwest, 14, 15 Celsius to Chile air.
02:11Still the further north and east you are Aberdeen there, struggling around 8 or 9 Celsius in the afternoon.
02:17But in between, there will be some spells of sunshine for all of us.
02:21And then into the evening time, this weather front introduces more rain in from the west.
02:25Next week, it looks unsettled.
02:28We'll see further spells of rain at times, perhaps some stronger winds too.
02:31But we'll see a gradual climb in those temperatures, particularly across England and Wales.
02:37If you'd like more information on this, follow us on our social media channels, and I'll see you again soon.
