00:04Very cold last night, temperatures down to minus 9 Celsius across Oxfordshire.
00:10Benson recording the lowest temperature for England so far this winter.
00:15Cold Arctic air stream across the whole of the UK, we all know about it.
00:19Seeing some crisp winter sunshine and snow showers by day, but also quite a lot of icy stretches.
00:25If we have a look at the precipitation type radar from earlier today, we can see where this snow shower is indicated with the whites that have pushed in through the morning,
00:34leading to icy stretches in places and further snow showers over the next few days.
00:39Met Office warnings covering much of the UK through the rest of today into the beginning of next week.

00:47For the rest of today, we'll see frequent heavy snow showers across northern Scotland.
00:52Sunnier skies through the central belt, but here one or two showers passing through could be wintry as well.
00:59Frequent wintry showers across parts of Northern Ireland.
01:03Down into northwest England, parts of Wales, the Midlands and the West Country,
01:07some of these snow showers may make their way southeastwards into southeast England as well.
01:11But elsewhere, generally dry, plenty of winter sunshine to be had out there, but it will be very cold.
01:19Temperatures really struggling to rise much above freezing.
01:22Aberdeenshire there staying below freezing for the day, perhaps five or six degrees around some coastal stretches of southwest England.
01:29With that northerly breeze, if you add that in, it will feel more like below freezing for many of us.
01:35So if you are heading out, watch out for those icy stretches, snow showers, but also take some extra layers as it is bitter out there.
01:42Temperatures widely falling below freezing as we go through this evening time.
01:47Frequent heavy snow showers across northern Scotland has led to another amber warning being issued here.

02:09So that means temperatures, well, towns and cities, minus four, minus five possible in the countryside again, minus nine, possibly even lower.
02:18So a very icy and cold start to Monday morning.
02:22Monday morning being the first commute back for many after the Christmas period.
02:28There will be icy stretches further.
02:30Snow showers down the eastern side of England pushing southward.
02:33Snow showers in the west as well and frequent snow showers across northern Scotland.
02:38That warning out for the amber snow across northern Scotland through much of Monday morning.
02:44Icy stretches remaining through the day.
02:46You can see the blues on the map even by the afternoon.
02:49Most places really struggling to rise much above freezing.
02:52Many higher ground areas will stay below freezing all day.
02:56Southwest England, five or six degrees as a top spot for the afternoon.
03:01Into the evening time on Monday, further wintry showers pushing south, those temperatures rapidly falling below freezing.
03:09Weather systems starting to push into Norman Island, western Scotland by the end of the day, giving a mix of rain, sleet and snow here.
03:16And temperatures overnight, Monday night into Tuesday again, falling into minus double digits.
03:22It remains cold through Tuesday and into Wednesday.
03:25Further weather systems trying to push through, giving some sleet and snow in places.
03:30But just signs by Thursday of it turning a little less cold, but potentially wet and windy in some places with some hill snow as well.
03:37Something to keep an eye on in the forecast.
03:40So snow and ice remain the main hazards over the next few days.
