00:00Hello there, good morning and welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office.
00:05High pressure dominated the weekend's weather, some pleasant spells of sunshine,
00:10and high pressure will continue to be the main story of the week ahead,
00:13though the risk of some heavy showers this afternoon and some patchy rain on Tuesday
00:18before the sunshine returns into Wednesday.
00:22So this morning, a bit of a mixed start across the country,
00:25some showers across Scotland, Northern Ireland,
00:27some mist and fog patches clearing from England and Wales,
00:30but these will soon push out the way and then we'll see plenty of sunny spells,
00:34particularly across central southern parts of England and Wales.
00:37We'll see some heavy showers bubbling up across parts of Scotland, Northern England,
00:41the odd rumble of thunder is possible, some gusty winds associated with these showers too,
00:46but elsewhere largely dry.
00:48And in the best of the sunshine across southern counties of England and Wales,
00:52temperatures once again are well above average, reaching around 21, 22 Celsius,
00:56and elsewhere generally 14 to 16 Celsius.
01:00So just feeling a little cooler where we do have these showers across the north and the east.
01:05And those showers will continue to push southwards through Monday evening,
01:08the odd rumble of thunder possible into parts of the Midlands,
01:11and then southern parts of England as this system moves its way southwards into the early hours.
01:16It leaves a legacy of cloud overnight, some hill fog, some drizzle in places,
01:20the clearest skies across parts of Northern Ireland, Western Scotland,
01:24and we'll see some mist and fog patches forming here.
01:27Temperatures under the clear skies may fall down to around 5 or 6 degrees,
01:30but for most with the cloud holding up around 8 or 9 degrees.
01:34But it does mean a cloudy start for most.
01:36On Tuesday, some outbreaks of patchy rain and drizzle pushing south and westwards,
01:41murky over the hills.
01:43Best of the sunshine on Tuesday will be across Northern Ireland and northwest Scotland.
01:48But perhaps some sunnier spells developing across towards the wash,
01:52East Anglia down towards southeast England into the latter part of the afternoon and evening,
01:57but a brisk northeasterly breeze developing here.
02:01So temperatures along North Sea coast, 12 to 14 degrees.
02:05Come inland and further west, temperatures in the sunshine reaching 16 or 17 degrees.
02:10So a few degrees down on what we saw over the weekend,
02:13but feeling pleasant in those sunnier breaks.
02:15On Tuesday evening, we'll see increasing amounts of sunshine before dusk as showers start to ease,
02:21and high pressure then allows that sunshine to develop more widely Wednesday and Thursday.
02:26Largely dry, plenty of sunshine before the showers start to increase again come Friday.
02:32Temperatures bouncing back up in the sunshine after some chilly mornings lifting to the low 20s as well.
02:39So plenty of warm weather to come for the week ahead.
