00:05Another bitterly cold start to the day, temperatures widely below freezing thanks to Arctic air
00:11which has been with us for the whole of the weekend and will be today as well.
00:16Just notice though into tomorrow we may see something just a little less cold trying to move in from the Atlantic
00:22but that will bring some hazards as well and it is going to be a tricky commute this morning.
00:27We have outbreaks of sleet and snow pushing south across the country and Met Office amber snow warning in force
00:33across northern Scotland but easing later on in the day.
00:37Tricky conditions through the day as temperatures really struggle to rise so icy stretches likely almost anywhere.
00:44Met Office warnings remain in force through the day overnight and into tomorrow as well.
00:49Temperatures on the thermometer really struggling for most of us, only around 2 or 3 degrees.
00:53Some places staying below freezing but perhaps across south-west England highs around 4 or 5 degrees.
00:59But even here with a northerly breeze it will feel sub-zero.
01:02So a very cold day for everyone. Temperatures really struggling so extra layers will be needed if you are heading out
01:09and do check before travelling as there could be some delays on the roads and rail.
01:14As we head through the evening time temperatures very quickly fall widely below freezing
01:19and overnight we will see a band of rain, sleet and snow starting to move into parts of Northern Ireland,
01:24north-west Scotland, some icy stretches developing here.
01:28Elsewhere generally dry but still the risk of some coastal sleet and snow showers which may drift inland at times.
01:35Temperatures under the clearest skies falling well below freezing.
01:38Again, towns and cities 5, minus 5, minus 6 Celsius but in the countryside close to minus 10.
01:43Again, perhaps under the cloud and sleet and snow further north-west for parts of Northern Ireland,
01:49north-west Scotland here. Temperatures nearer to freezing.
01:53So a cold start, an icy start for many.
01:56Cloud and rain and snow pushing eastwards across Northern Ireland, Scotland through the day.
02:01Cloudier skies into Northern England, one or two sprinkles of sleet and snow.
02:06After a sunny, cold, frosty start clouding over across the rest of England and Wales.
02:10Best of the brighter skies holding on across south-east England.
02:14Parts of the west starting to see the risk of some rain and hill snow moving in here.
02:19Temperatures just a little higher tomorrow.
02:21We could see highs around 7 or 8 degrees across the far south-west of England but still chilly,
02:26particularly across central and eastern parts of the UK, around 2 or 3 degrees at best.
02:31And another cold and frosty start on Wednesday morning.
02:34Sunshine initially but turning wetter and windier from the west,
02:38particularly through the afternoon and evening time.
