Stolen Car Rampage in Ludhiana: Police Chase Ends After Baleno Smashes 7 Vehicles

Chaos broke out in the Shimlapuri area of Ludhiana on Sunday morning after a speeding white Baleno car rammed multiple vehicles while attempting to evade the police. The incident, which was not a routine road accident, occurred during a chase following a car theft complaint.

According to reports, police had received information about a stolen Baleno from the Shimlapuri area and had laid a trap to intercept the vehicle. At around 11:30 am, when police signalled the car to stop, the driver allegedly accelerated instead of complying and attempted to flee.

During the chase through narrow lanes near the Dussehra Ground, the accused drove recklessly and lost control of the vehicle. In the process, the car hit a Bullet motorcycle, a 100cc bike, two Activa scooters, an auto-rickshaw, and also damaged two parked vehicles. The vehicle then rammed into a house wall before crashing into an electric pole with such force that the pole snapped into two.

Accused Apprehended Near Dussehra Ground

Following the crash, the vehicle was badly damaged. Police personnel on the spot acted promptly and apprehended the accused near the Dussehra Ground. The SHO confirmed that the accused was being chased in connection with a car theft case and had caused damage to several vehicles while attempting to escape.

The accused has been taken into custody and shifted to the concerned police station. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether others were involved in the theft.

Despite the scale of the incident, no casualties were reported. However, several vehicles were damaged, causing significant losses to owners.

A video of the incident shows two policemen on a motorcycle chasing the suspect vehicle. As the police approached, the driver suddenly reversed the car, crushing multiple parked bikes. People present at the spot were seen running to safety.

The accused reportedly swerved the vehicle multiple times, creating panic in the area. The chase ended when the police surrounded the car while the driver was attempting to reverse, and overpowered him.
