A shocking incident has come to light from Govindpur, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, where a 36-year-old woman’s half-burnt body was recovered from her residence under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased has been identified as Lipika Kumari, who lived in a house located in the Vastu Vihar residential colony. The property reportedly belonged to her father, a retired scientist from the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR), who passed away in 2023.

Lipika was living with her brother, Pranav Rajvardhan (50), while another brother resides about 2 km away.

According to police, Lipika is suspected to have died on the night of April 7. Her brother Pranav allegedly informed neighbours about her death, but they reportedly did not believe him or come forward to help.

Police said that, in a state of panic, Pranav attempted to cremate her body inside the bathroom of the house.

The matter came to light after neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from the flat and alerted authorities on Monday.

Police reached the spot and recovered the half-burnt body, which has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Officials stated that further action will depend on the medical report.

Local residents claimed that both siblings were suffering from mental health issues and had become socially isolated over time, though police have not officially confirmed these details.

Pranav has not been taken into custody so far, and questioning is likely as part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident has raised serious concerns and left the local community shocked.
