Noida: A theft incident during an engagement ceremony in Noida has raised serious concerns over security at public events. The incident took place at Diamond Crown Banquet Hall in Sector 49, where a man posing as a guest allegedly stole a bag containing around ₹5 lakh in cash and jewellery.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 1 pm while the ceremony was underway and both families were busy with celebrations. Taking advantage of the situation, a youth dressed in a formal suit entered the venue and blended in with the guests.

CCTV footage shows the accused moving around the hall casually and even having food at the function. After identifying a bag containing cash and jewellery belonging to the bride’s family, he discreetly picked it up and walked out of the venue without raising suspicion.

The theft came to light when family members noticed the bag was missing and began searching for it. Upon failing to locate it, they checked the banquet hall’s CCTV footage, which clearly captured the entire sequence of events.

Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at Sector 49 police station. Police officials said the case has been taken seriously and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused using CCTV evidence.

The incident highlights lapses in security arrangements at large gatherings, where outsiders can easily gain access by posing as guests.
