Shan, RJ, and Bobby went into the Red Zone and took a look at an NFL scout-led mock draft that could shake up Dallas' draft plans. They shifted their focus to a scenario that has the Bengals snagging Caleb Downs before the Cowboys have a chance to; they weighed the cost of a potential trade-up with Kansas City, and more.

00:00Everyone's trying to figure out a way to kick out draft material.
00:04Matt Miller got scouts and executives to predict the top ten.
00:09Scouts, unaffiliated with the teams that they were assigned.
00:12I think unaffiliated too with the divisions.
00:15I think they were from separate divisions.
00:17Yep, so I like that. The scouts are anonymous.
00:20They did not allow any trades.
00:23So we're going to go from the top on down,
00:25see if anything particularly jumps out about what they have to say about the player.
00:30As the scouts say.
00:32Fernando, Raiders 1.
00:34Someone said he's a lot like Matt Ryan was coming out of college, Boston College.
00:38Super accurate, super poised, does not get rattled.
00:42Got better every week it seemed like.
00:45Arvel Reese to the Jets.
00:46The Jets canceled their David Bailey visit,
00:51which to me should shift all the Vegas odds to Reese at 2.
00:55They're trying to say, oh, we know enough.
00:57B.S.
00:58That is typical Jets stupidity if they're actually still considering Bailey
01:02and didn't want to meet with him.
01:04A $1,000 flight or $500 if you're the Ravens flying out Crosby
01:08in order to meet with the number two pick and you cancel it,
01:11that means Arvel Reese is going there, I believe.
01:13DraftKings has it right now, minus $130, Arvel Reese, even odds David Bailey.
01:19Wow, minus $130.
01:20Okay.
01:21Scouts have David Bailey to the Cardinals at 3.
01:25NFC GM said, can I trade this pick?
01:28Can I trade it with the Dallas Cowboys potentially willing to make a splash?
01:34Number four, Jeremiah Love, Titans.
01:38Love, done deal, happily will take the best offensive weapon in the class
01:42to take the pressure off of Ward.
01:44Send an NFC West Area scout.
01:47I consider Caleb Downs.
01:49He's a blue chip, but don't overthink it.
01:51Love's the guy to take this offense to new levels.
01:53So that sounds like when he's saying I consider Downs, take the blue chip,
01:57that almost sounds like, at least for that guy, he's doing it from like,
02:00what would I do if I was the GM of this team?
02:02I wonder if he's just approaching it from like, how would I draft this team?
02:07Five, Carnell Tate to the New York Giants.
02:10AFC scouting director made that selection.
02:13Love is off the board, but the Giants have every receiver
02:16and offensive lineman available to them.
02:18And RJ Choppy, you are predicting a New York Giant hot take
02:22with what they won't do.
02:24Yeah.
02:24So you go back.
02:26Now, I talked, you know, my Seahawks guy told me a lot about the inner workings
02:30of the Giants.
02:32Okay.
02:34And I want Tolos to text if they know what that reference is.
02:37I want to test your Toloism.
02:39All right.
02:40So I'll tell you this.
02:41They are not taking an offensive lineman with their first pick with the Giants.
02:44In the 18 years that Harbs was in Baltimore, they drafted Michael Orr, okay,
02:54and then Ronnie Staley.
02:57All right.
02:57Stanley, yeah.
02:58What did I say?
02:59Staley.
03:00Oh, Stanley.
03:01They drafted one or two, I should say.
03:03So other than, and Orr was in his second draft.
03:06So in the last 16 drafts, because the first draft was Flacco.
03:10So the last 16 drafts, they drafted one offensive lineman.
03:12Wow.
03:13All right.
03:13In the first, with their first pick.
03:14Not just in the first round, because some years they didn't have a first rounder.
03:17So with their first pick.
03:18And that means in that same time frame, they've taken five wide receivers slash tight ends,
03:26four linebackers, three safeties, three corners.
03:30Interesting.
03:30So does that say more about Harbs, or does that say more about Ozzie Newsom slash Eric DaCosta?
03:37Well, I mean, I don't, it's a good question.
03:39And I don't know, especially early on.
03:41No, and I don't know.
03:42I don't think any of us know.
03:44That's the reason why I think it is so unpredictable, is you don't know how, it's like us trying
03:47to figure out Christian Parker with Fangio.
03:49We think we know, like, what he picked up from, but, like, we don't know what he's going
03:52to discard yet.
03:53Yeah.
03:53That's fair.
03:53And I have no idea the power that he wielded, especially early on, right?
03:57Yeah, because he's running this.
03:58He is running this.
03:59And I have no idea, like, you know, after about, you know, probably after they won the
04:02Super Bowl, he got a little bit more power.
04:04Sure.
04:04But even before that, you know, it was 2008 when they draft Flacco, 2009 when they draft Orr.
04:08Is he, how big is his voice, right?
04:10How strong is his voice?
04:11Sure.
04:11There's no way for us to know.
04:13We know what it is here.
04:14All right.
04:15But I'm just saying, in the last 16 drafts, he had chances.
04:18He only took an offensive lineman one time.
04:19So this scout is giving the Giants, Carnell Tate, saying, Stiles is going to get matched
04:24here, but the Giants added Tremaine Edmonds to an already stout group.
04:29We've not talked about their current roster or depth there.
04:32AFC scouting director.
04:33It's hard to pass on Stiles and downs, but I have to build up the talent on the offense.
04:37Tate is, at minimum, a really good wide receiver, too.
04:41And you can free up Malik to move around and find matchups.
04:44That would stun me.
04:46Like, I mean, it...
04:47If they took Tate?
04:48Yeah.
04:49I don't know if that'd be good or bad for Dallas.
04:50I'm not sure.
04:51I mean, that would be a pretty...
04:51Assuming Neighbors comes back healthy, that's a...
04:55And assuming Dart's good.
04:56Yeah.
04:57Oh, that's a juicy receiving court.
04:58The more receivers that go, the better for Dallas.
05:00I just don't know if Tate going that early, if that just then causes teams you think might
05:04take receivers, but then take defenders who have slid down the board.
05:06Oh, so you're not saying it because you're scared of the Giants having him.
05:09No, it's like, I think Washington is going to take Tate right now.
05:12So if you take Tate from Washington, does Washington then default to, like, Downs or somebody?
05:15Six, NFC East Scout has Francis Mowinoa going to Cleveland.
05:27All right.
05:28Tough decision.
05:30Blah, blah, blah.
05:31At 24 overall, you're going to like one of the receivers available while probably not finding
05:35a plug-and-play starting tackle.
05:37Remember, Cleveland has multiple picks.
05:39Seven, AFC East Scout styles to the commanders.
05:44The commanders don't have one glaring need, and in a draft light on blue chips, it's tempting
05:49to trade back and get more capital instead of debating between a non-premium position
05:52or maybe drafting a third corner.
05:53I have an idea.
05:55Dan Quinn knows the value of a linebacker with range.
05:58Bobby Wagner styles has that ability, and he's a capable blitzer, too.
06:02I think Love and Tate off the board means they pick Downs.
06:05That's what I think would happen.
06:06Love and Tate.
06:07Means Washington picks Downs?
06:09Yeah, that's what I think they would do.
06:10Saints.
06:11Eight.
06:13The first, wow, Jermon McCoy, AFC South Scout.
06:20What team does he work for, Bobby, with the face you're making?
06:23Would love to find out, because I think that makes an odds-on favorite to draft Jermon McCoy,
06:28one of the teams in the AFC South.
06:30I mean, it could be.
06:30If Jermon McCoy gets taken by the Saints at eight, you send Kellen Moore whatever he wants
06:37from Texas.
06:38You send him all the wild-fork briskets that you can.
06:42Here's the explanation.
06:44Rarely do you find true blue-chip corners, and when one falls to you, it's an easy decision
06:48to take him off the board.
06:50So I'll take McCoy with the belief his knee is good long-term, and that he'll be back to
06:54the player we saw in 2024 when he was the best corner in the nation.
06:57This is 100% a Colt Scout, I'm guessing.
06:59That's a Chris Ballard thing to do.
07:01Just take McCoy.
07:02He's good.
07:03Just take him.
07:03If you're a team like the Saints who's not, I mean, you're not going to compete this year.
07:07Huh?
07:07I mean, you might be in the playoffs.
07:08I don't consider competing.
07:09I mean, like, compete for a Super Bowl.
07:11Okay.
07:11All right.
07:12They've got some upside.
07:13Yeah, for sure.
07:16You know, like, if you're not worried about a redshirt here, if you don't care, if you're
07:19more worried about, like, hey, look, is this guy going to be an elite player someday,
07:23and you're comfortable, then I don't see an issue.
07:26Like, if you're, like, if you're in a window like the Rams.
07:29We still didn't talk to him in the commercial break.
07:32Well, I mean, like, because I think the last thing we said, he was so dismissive of what
07:36it would be.
07:36Whose hair is that, Bobby?
07:38Oh, it better be Chris's.
07:39I don't know who that is.
07:40It looks, uh.
07:41It was on the mic.
07:42It looks blonde.
07:42It looks blonder.
07:44It was on the mic, though.
07:46If you're the Rams.
07:47That was on your sweatshirt.
07:48If you're the Rams, if you're who's got to win now, right?
07:52Cowboys, I think, have to win.
07:53They're up against it.
07:55And whose perfume is this?
07:56Right.
07:57Several teams.
07:59You know, Russini's up to the game.
08:01I got to now.
08:02I think Chicago could take him.
08:04They got a long enough window.
08:06McCoy.
08:07Oh!
08:08I think the team that makes the most sense to take him is Chiefs.
08:10You can't put the Saints window with the Bears.
08:13No, no, no.
08:14You just laid out this smart Saints plan.
08:16Chicago's win now.
08:18They have a window.
08:19They're win now, but they're win tomorrow, too.
08:21I'm talking about the teams that are only win now.
08:23Rams are only win now.
08:24They don't have a future.
08:25Cowboys' future's a handful of years.
08:27Detroit's future's a handful of years.
08:28You have other teams out there.
08:30San Francisco's, you know, those are the teams that I don't think can really afford to take.
08:34McCoy's plus 1,500, according to DraftKings, to go to the Saints right now.
08:38Plus 1,500?
08:39Yeah, that's not very likely.
08:41There's six players ahead of him.
08:43Yeah, that's not very likely.
08:46Plus 1,500.
08:50And then your heart is smashed at No. 10 as the NFC South scout has Caleb Downs.
08:59Possibly that would probably maybe wipe the Cowboys out.
09:04One more.
09:04This was the second fastest pick made in the mock.
09:08With the area scout making the decision two minutes after I put Cincy on the clock.
09:13Quote, we'll take Downs.
09:14This might not be the biggest need.
09:16Safety is not a premium position, but Downs is a premium player who's a culture-setting winner
09:21with the football IQ, work ethic, playmaking mentality, and drive to be great.
09:24The Bengals need homegrown talent on defense that can set the standard.
09:29That's Downs.
09:30Oh, the lane.
09:32Oh, yeah.
09:32The lane would be the last one left.
09:34The lane would be there with Miami at 11.
09:37But Miami needs a corner.
09:38This exercise only does top 10.
09:41What happens if Miami takes the lane at 11?
09:45Well, then now you're digging deep a little.
09:49Or at 9 in that scenario, you trading up with Cincy?
09:52Or with Kansas City?
09:54If they'd entertain it.
09:56What do I have to give to get to Kansas City at 9?
09:58Probably 12-20 for 9-29.
10:01Say it again.
10:0212-20.
10:02You'd say 12-20 for 9-29.
10:04So you go up three spots and then drop 9 in the first round on the other one.
10:07Okay.
10:08I'm fine with that.
10:09Yeah.
10:10That is one that I would – I don't know if they would, but I would make that deal if
10:14I really felt like,
10:14all right, there's one guy left.
10:15Let me just go get him, and then I'll drop a little bit.
10:17Because then I still get my two picks in the first round.
10:19All right.
10:20So there it is.
10:20These scouts, the Brian Broaddus friends, picking top 10 of the NFL draft.
10:26Oh, yeah.
