00:00all right so there is a a thought generally i think from from a lot of fans and stuff like
00:07that
00:08like draft weekend is usually an opportunity also to make trades and it has been in the past
00:11aj brown is a guy who's gotten moved but there seems to every year be this this influx of
00:19movement following the draft like there's always a really strong trade market that heats up in
00:27general probably from about the end of april the end of the draft until first week of june uh maybe
00:34a little bit before then because teams want to get guys in there for mini camp and then have enough
00:37time to kind of get that layoff time before training camp to get things down and then uh walk into
00:43the
00:43draft or walk into training camp obviously so for the cowboys like for instance we've talked about
00:49the idea that if they were to take a receiver which i don't think they're going to take a receiver
00:53with
00:53one of their first two picks but let's say they get wiped out and for some reason carnell tate
00:57happens to slide down to them at 12 and there's really nobody defensively that they can pick and
01:02they can't trade out of the pick would they just instead say you know what let's pick tate let's
01:07rescind the tag on pickens and then use that extra cash we have to go make a trade for somebody
01:12else
01:12let's let's see if we can do that that might be our best way to build this team moving forward
01:17well those sort of things also exist for other teams whether it be somebody staring them in the
01:23face and they pick them and all of a sudden they have a surplus or they'd be interested in trading
01:27somebody but they want to get out of the draft first before they make sure that they're actually
01:31going to make a deal so i got a couple names that i think are worth keeping an eye on
01:36that in terms of
01:37not dallas directly have an interest but guys i've heard could be available whenever things get done
01:43with the draft depending on how things go and most of these i don't think are a surprise i think
01:47a couple of these we've actually heard already talked about as potential trade candidates now
01:51but the first one right off the bat riley moss in denver so he's a cornerback he plays opposite pat
01:59sertan um he has been in the nfl now for three years so he's getting close to extension time i
02:06think
02:06there are a lot of people who think denver likes him wants to keep him but denver's also building
02:11something has a bunch of different resources out there that they're trying to get guys
02:13paid with but riley moss is a guy who can play inside or outside had a decent year he will
02:19be
02:19due a contract shortly but i think if the broncos come out of this feeling like we got a corner
02:24we
02:24like we don't have to worry about that anymore we're covered let's go ahead and just make the move
02:30get off of this deal before it ends up becoming a big payday and we can circulate that way now
02:36obviously
02:36dallas's interest would then depend on who do they take if they were to take downs and uh akeem
02:43mesador from miami or if they were to take uh you know sunny styles for let's say they trade up
02:48and
02:48so they have to give up 20 and then they take sunny styles and in the second round they get
02:51you know somebody else a dead edge rusher well then they may look at and go like you know what
02:56we're still not totally solid here at cornerback let's make a move let's figure something out and
03:00so riley moss is somebody who i think depending on how the draft breaks out could be available
03:05how much do you want to take a risk with a character guy who is it it's uh it's my
03:14character
03:15no this would be this would be a person you're trading for he would not probably be available
03:20if not for the fact that he's got some issues right now terry on arnold the cornerback from
03:25the lions who recently got mixed up in the hey did terry on arnold's friends kidnap somebody what's
03:30going on here uh the lions by all accounts want to move him at this point if they can make
03:38sure
03:38that their bases are covered so that would be do they come out of the draft feeling comfortable and
03:43confident with what they've fleshed out on their roster he's been a little bit of a disappointment
03:4852 pff grade last year yeah he's been a little bit of a disappointment but he was a guy who
03:53high draft pedigree somebody that the cowboys liked when he was coming out still young
03:58can do some different things for you in the secondary i think that as long as you're okay
04:03and you're just saying hey i'm trying to open this three-year window like we've talked about
04:06maybe you say hey that's somebody who we can give something up after the draft that the lions feel
04:11like they just want to move off of this let's go ahead let's take it let's jump into this and
04:16in
04:16fact i gotta look real quick i think terry on arnold i think still has a couple years left on
04:21his deal
04:21too so like drafted in 2024 yeah so you would have upwards of this season 27 and potentially 28 you
04:28could have him under control for the next three years and his cap hit the next two years is 3
04:32.9 and
04:324.5 million so if you can feel comfortable about where things are at all right give you a good
04:38place
04:38be the cock oh boy um that stands for king of compensation it does shop um i'm gonna say
04:48i know it feels a little rich i know i'm i'm i'm riding i'm riding my my two here i
04:55was gonna say i
04:55think maybe a three okay i was thinking all right i'll do it for four but it would feel a
05:02little bit
05:02more dangerous with a three it just i think it just depends on how much like maybe it is a
05:08four if
05:09the answers are worse than people want them to be um but like i i think that right now there's
05:15enough
05:16distance and separation from what they've been able to ascertain about it that they would look
05:20at it and say all right it's a little hot to handle but and then he hasn't been great but
05:25there's
05:25upside there let's let's go ahead and roll the dice on it so there's another one there uh two other
05:30spots to look at and this is again going to depend on how much they can fortify their front
05:38and they've invested a lot of resources there so it wouldn't be unusual for them to just feel like
05:43all right we're we're set let's make a deal particularly if they're able to salvage the
05:47dexter law and stuff but it would be cave on tibodeau and that's somebody who i think tibodeau
05:52to me makes just that sounds all too much like a deal the cowboys would make and not that i've
05:59heard
05:59anything so i don't want anybody twisting that and thinking like i've heard that they're gonna go
06:03make a deal from anything but the all right he's kind of you know disgruntled wants a deal they
06:10don't have a deal done with him they're kind of like you know what we've invested plenty in other
06:14spots and we've made the deal for brian burns before they picked edge rushers high before i
06:20think that it would make some sense that sounds very much like a move that the cowboys end up like
06:24in june going all right well our solution to this where we rallied a little bit because we didn't get
06:28the address we wanted we got a guy we loved back in the day a couple years ago and a
06:32guy who's had
06:32some decent seasons never played up to where he needs to be but somebody who we think is hungry and
06:37we
06:37capitalize on just like we did with george pickets and and we'll be able to get that out of
06:41loud personality on social media loud personality on social media loud personality in front of the
06:46cameras and in front of the and and he is a i remember when he was coming out there was
06:51a lot
06:51of questions about does he is he and then i know sometimes this rubs choppy the wrong way when this
07:00is
07:00the criticism there's some questions like is he too opinionated does he does he have too many
07:06thoughts on too many things because that just might be a little bit of a headache and so then
07:09they dropped him in new york city in front of that media and said this will work but to this
07:14point
07:14he's been solid it's just not been consistent for him and he's never really shown up as the guy that
07:21they thought he could have been when he was coming out of oregon when he was just a stud but
07:24maybe
07:25somebody worth buying low on and then the last name here and i pick what's that what's the pick i
07:30would
07:30guess third or fourth is is what you're looking at um and he may be somebody who maybe he gets
07:35moved draft weekend but i think if he's still hanging around and dallas looks at it and goes
07:40all right musical chairs is done and we still don't have another edge rusher we want that may be a
07:45call
07:45that they would make uh and then the other one and this is the name that we've heard a lot
07:50thrown
07:50around here in dallas as somebody that cowboys fans would like uh and it's somebody that it would make
07:56so much sense if they would go ahead and deal him even though they have not yet and i don't
08:01think
08:01they've publicly indicated they would that's jordan brooks at miami the linebacker david helman went on
08:06g-bag and he said that is part one of my three-point plan that's my very first thing give
08:12up a third
08:12jordan brooks and he said now we're cooking cooking with gas would you be willing to give up let me
08:18i'll
08:18just say because i know you probably were watching a ton of dolphins games last year i watched more
08:22football yeah i know you watched more football but that means you probably didn't watch the
08:25dolphins were terrible yeah um so when you if i told you jordan brooks is going to be
08:32on a scale of 10 i told you next year he will be an eight linebacker would you be willing
08:37to give up
08:37a third this year's third for that yes and just say all right cool i'm jumping in yeah what if
08:42i told
08:42you that you're not going to be able to resign him and he's just going to play out the year
08:45here
08:47no okay so it's it would be contingent on you being comfortable that he was going to come back yeah
08:50yep i mean for me it's like i just don't think there's enough guys out there that can
08:55make us compete this year so you that's why you would take it off the table if he was
09:00not just a one-in-shot right he's 28 yeah and he's somebody who at his cost you think will
09:06be his
09:06contract uh probably given the way some of the deals got done this offseason obviously each year
09:13kind of well per yeah probably i think that were quay and dean came in uh dean was dean was
09:1812 quay
09:19came in a little higher yeah um but yeah i would think yeah probably 12 something like that um because
09:24i mean he's already on his second deal and so yeah i'm fine with giving him the third and paying
09:28him
09:29so and i think that that's why when i did i just did the the mock that we did at
09:34720 the 30th pick
09:36for miami i went ahead and gave them a linebacker because i i do look at it and i wonder
09:41if in their
09:42shuffling they're gonna say all right jeff halfley needs his resources at defense we've got
09:47receivers that can stretch into the second round let's address receiver there they're not good
09:52they're not going to be good next year they've still got a lot that they've got to spend time on
09:57and rebuild through and different things like that that i don't think that miami's in a position to
10:01compete so to me it's more just like about all right cover your bases make sure you have young
10:04players here to replace the guys you're about to purge so you know how in college like the
10:09the way to go now we're finding out in the nil era is and i'm just spitballing here it's don't
10:15really recruit high school it's get older transfers who are ready to win now are we gonna get to the
10:22point where it's like all right you know what don't try to draft trade picks for players that
10:28are ready to win now i mean that's the rams are doing that the rams have done that for 10
10:32years the
10:33rams have done that uh philly's done that in part philly works really hard to build up capital and
10:38then purge some of it for veterans and so that's typically how they try to have the best of both
10:43worlds i think the philly model is probably the best one you could do if you could swing it the
10:47rams doesn't seem sustainable but it is for them i asked my giants guy well who's in new orleans about
10:52thibodeau he said he's terrible should be a beast with teams double teaming burns but he does nothing
10:58had one good play in his career against washington huge liability against the run so that is this
11:04giants fan he doesn't work for the giants you're you're having a lot of uh you're having a lot of
11:08guys that if they're being purged and they're available they've got it's it's the old money
11:12ball his flaw is this his flaw is this the the thibodeau it's that he's just been a a disappointment
11:18he's completely underperformed where he was supposed to be way too loud for his production
11:22yes way too much talking for what he has churned out yep below the bell
