00:00The breaking news, in case you missed it, in Below the Belt, Jackson Smith and Jigba getting $42 million a
00:08year with his Seattle extension.
00:11It's just amazing how they talked amongst the sides.
00:14Who's JSN's agent? Do you know, Bob?
00:16I do not off the top of my head. I can find out in two seconds, though.
00:19They talked and they got a deal done, and at least the last check, last Thursday, Calvin Watkins saying no
00:25movement or discussions on the George Pickens front.
00:28WME.
00:29What's that?
00:30William Morris?
00:31WME Sports. That's what AI says.
00:33I would think William Morris, but who's the agent?
00:36He is represented by Ben Renzen, Joel Siegel, and Jeff Garmhausen.
00:43Okay. I reckon he's Siegel's name, but anyway, what's that going to do to Pickens Floor and Pickens Market?
00:50We discussed that in depth at 840.
00:53Let's get you, not one, not two, not three, but four new Dallas Cowboys as we're going deeper into the
00:59mock drafts.
01:00Now, crosstalk with KNC at 940.
01:02All right. Yeah, let's go to NFL.com.
01:04This is Chad Reuter.
01:05He always does a, by the end of the year, he'll do a seven-round mock.
01:08He does some of their longer form mocks, and so he's got his fourth rounder out now.
01:12But this is a little bit of a, I was excited in one way because I was like, all right,
01:16this isn't just a random, you know, fan mock that's being thrown up and just like people essentially guess.
01:23And it's somebody at NFL Network or at NFL.com who does talk to people and consult people.
01:29And so it's like, all right, we'll get four rounds here.
01:30We're going to get four Cowboys picks.
01:32This will be exciting.
01:34I don't know if this is that exciting.
01:36Let's look at it.
01:37So first round of the draft.
01:40I'll just quickly run down the list.
01:42Raiders, Mendoza, Jets, Arvel Reese, Ed Drescher from Ohio State.
01:46Cardinals take Francis Maui Noah, the offensive tackle from Miami.
01:49Titans take David Bailey, the Ed Drescher from Texas Tech.
01:51Jeremiah Love, the Notre Dame running back, goes to the Giants.
01:54Monroe Freeling, the Georgia offensive tackle, goes to the Browns.
01:57Sonny Stiles, linebacker from Ohio State, goes to the Commanders.
02:00Keldrick Falk, the Ed Drescher from Auburn, goes to New Orleans.
02:03That's high for him compared to some of the other mocks.
02:05Number nine, the Chiefs take Caleb Downs from Ohio State.
02:09Ten, the Bengals take Monsoor Delane, cornerback from LSU.
02:13Eleven, the Miami Dolphins, one pick ahead of you.
02:15Take Reuben Bain, Ed Drescher from Miami.
02:18So you look at the draft and you go, okay, we got a lot of the guys taken off the
02:22board that we like.
02:23Would we be willing to just say, you know what, let's go Dillon Thienam in this high.
02:27Or, you know what, let's go ahead and just take a risk on Jermod McCoy.
02:30Or maybe they just go to another corner.
02:32Say maybe Colton Hood from Tennessee or Avion Terrell from Clemson.
02:35Let's do something there.
02:37Nope.
02:38In this instance, the Cowboys say, who's the best player left on the board?
02:44Well, the best player left on the board just happens to be an offensive player.
02:49And the Dallas Cowboys in this mock draft select.
02:51Ornay.
02:52Carnell Tate, wide receiver from Ohio State with the 12th pick.
02:56Bye, George.
02:58If they do that, for sure.
02:59You think there's any chance he's available still?
03:02Maybe.
03:02I don't think it's likely, but maybe.
03:05The receiver group is so kind of jumbled and it just depends on how the needs stack up behind you.
03:10I'll be honest, I've seen him as high as two.
03:15I've seen him go as high as two in some of these mocks.
03:18Not many.
03:20If he's there at 12, that's lamish.
03:23I don't think he's that good.
03:24I don't think he's as good.
03:25I'm just saying, it's like for him to fall that far, it's kind of lamish.
03:28He could go as high as, I think, four.
03:30And I think he probably goes ahead of Dallas as his floor.
03:34But, I mean, he could be there.
03:35But four would be as early as I could see him going to the Titans.
03:38Realistically, probably more like five to eight is what I think it would be.
03:43He's good.
03:45But, I mean, the guy he reminds me of and the guy who I think his career might end up
03:48having is like, he's Calvin Ridley to me, kind of.
03:51Like, he's a bigger Calvin Ridley, which is fine.
03:54He's a gambler.
03:55He's pretty good.
03:55But I don't know that I'd look at it and go like, I really need to add a Calvin Ridley
04:00if he's staring me in the face at 12.
04:01I got to pass up defense.
04:03Nope.
04:03So, I wouldn't love it.
04:05But they keep going down the board.
04:06Now, you want to trade George because he's asking for 38 to 40.
04:10Okay, fine.
04:10Now, is Calvin.
04:11And then we get to another timing thing with them when we all killed them and they got destroyed for
04:16not trading Micah before the draft instead of right before the season.
04:21That's another thing here.
04:22Like, what's the number have to be at for Jerry to be like, all right, we're going to do this
04:27before the draft to try to have three first-round picks?
04:30Because then, you know, because normally in the negotiations, the number gets more realistic the longer it goes.
04:36So, if the number's at 38 over the next week or two, and then it's time to draft, you don't
04:44leave room for the number eventually getting back down to 36, 35, 34.
04:51Yeah.
04:52You know, the game.
04:53The game is shortened.
04:54The negotiating game and window is closed faster because the draft is right there.
04:59All right, let me ask you this.
05:00You're a team or you're Jerry.
05:03I will say I think you have to, if that's what you're going to do, if you're opening yourself up
05:08to that possible, you have to trade him before the draft because once you pick a receiver, then teams are
05:13going to go, oh.
05:14Okay, so you've got to pay $40 million and you already drafted a replacement?
05:18Cool.
05:19Yeah, you don't have anything over us.
05:20You've got to get rid of him now.
05:21All right, let me ask you this.
05:22I'm going to R.
05:23And do we all agree you'd rather, if you were going to trade him before the draft?
05:28If I was going to trade him, I'd do it before the draft.
05:30Yeah.
05:30Yeah.
05:30Yes.
05:32And would you trade him before the draft?
05:34You know, or say, we think this is going to end up at 35.
05:40So let's just stick in there, defensive player, and I hope it doesn't blow up last second like Parsons did.
05:47Yeah, I could see them going, let's tag him and we'll have him play on this this year.
05:54And then we'll just have three really great receivers right now.
05:56And then Carnell Tate's ready to step in and be the number two next year.
05:59I don't think they would take Carnell Tate, but under that scenario, that's how they would look at it potentially.
06:02Would you trade him before the draft or while you're on the clock?
06:06Yeah, even while you're on the clock, it's clear.
06:08Is that too late?
06:09Like Tate's on the board.
06:09You're right there.
06:10Why are you trying to unload him now?
06:11And now there's even more pressure.
06:12They're going to go take it or leave it because you clearly want to pick that receiver.
06:15All right, let me ask you this.
06:16I'm sorry, I can give you a one and a two this year.
06:20Okay.
06:22Before the draft.
06:24Or the day after the draft, I'll give you two ones.
06:27One in 27 and one in 28.
06:30I mean, he's not getting two ones.
06:33I mean, he should.
06:34No.
06:35He should.
06:35He shouldn't.
06:38To me, a top five or six receiver in the NFL should get two ones.
06:44If people agree he is.
06:47The only teams have not.
06:49Do you think if Lamb got put.
06:50They could give up two first-round picks from right now and no team has wanted to.
06:52Do you think if Lamb got put on the block today, he'd get two ones?
06:56I would think a top five receiver should get two ones.
07:00I mean, top edge is getting two ones.
07:05I don't know.
07:05I think Lamb maybe gets a one and a two.
07:07I don't think he gets two ones.
07:08I don't think he does either.
07:10Is the edge tougher to find than receiver?
07:11Yes.
07:12How good your quarterback?
07:14In general.
07:15I mean, look, I mean, yes, because the edge.
07:19Like, will Puka get two ones?
07:20I would hope so.
07:22I mean, I'd give two ones for him if I was a team in need.
07:25Yeah, Puka would get two ones.
07:27I would guess there's like three guys who are getting two ones right now.
07:30Jefferson, Puka, and maybe Chase.
07:33Yeah.
07:34Something like that.
07:35And I don't know.
07:36Jefferson.
07:36All right, so one or two before the draft, the day after two ones in RJ's scenario.
07:41One or two.
07:42The one and the two, probably.
07:44I mean, considering the window that this team has, I would probably do the one and a two.
07:49Just give me a...
07:50I am so tired of hearing about this freaking window.
07:52Well, you know, it's a window you're trying to create.
07:54You're trying to install a window.
07:55Yeah, like, they're trying to talk about being posers.
07:58You're renovating.
07:58You're trying to install a window.
08:00It's like me paying $2,000 for a table on a VIP club.
08:03I don't belong there.
08:06I'm overspending to be a wannabe.
08:08I totally get it.
08:08They're not there.
08:09That's the way you're saying.
08:10But, like, the way their window is structured with the contracts of Dak and Shoddy and all that.
08:16Yeah, if you give me a one and a two now.
08:18One and a two now versus a two-two.
08:20By the way, my window is only tied to Dak Prescott.
08:22That's it.
08:23I'm not tying it to Brian Schottenheimer.
08:24I extend my coach.
08:26So by the time I hit that second first-round pick, it's the third year of this timeline.
08:29So I got a rookie in here with Dak for that?
08:32No, give me a one and a two.
08:33Now, the only thing you get is that maybe that's Dak's last year, and you could fall into a quarterback.
08:37All right, let's get to the players, Bob.
08:39Yeah, could be.
08:40Next up, number 20, the Dallas Cowboys select Miami edge rusher Akeem Mesidor.
08:44This is from NFL.com.
08:46Yes, who's a good player and one who I think absolutely can help impact the game now.
08:51He's 25 years old, and he has a lengthy injury history.
08:56So that's two picks that maybe don't make you feel totally comfortable for very different reasons.
09:00It's okay, though.
09:01We got pick 92 now.
09:02We've added that.
09:03What would you say is the biggest position the Cowboys have addressed this offseason?
09:09Or if they're on their most resources?
09:13Like position or unit?
09:15Like secondary?
09:16Yeah, unit, secondary.
09:17Yeah, they've signed two safeties.
09:18They added a corner.
09:19Yeah.
09:20They got some flexibility there.
09:21Well, the Cowboys, with pick 92, select another member of the secondary and not a corner.
09:26They take safety, Bud Clark from TCU, who's a good player, ball skills.
09:30Again, another old player.
09:31He's like 23 or 24.
09:33So that's important.
09:33And has dealt with some injuries and, again, good player.
09:37I don't know that I'm just blinking lights in.
09:40I got to take another safety, though.
09:42Like, I don't know that he's going to crack the rotation as a rookie.
09:45You're talking about adding somebody who's just...
09:46I'm fine with it.
09:47Malik Hooker's going to retire soon.
09:49Well, then you got P.J.
09:50Lock to step in, baby.
09:52But, no, it's the setup now where it's like, okay...
09:54Yeah, Logan Wilson syndrome.
09:55I'm going to back up.
09:56I'm just going to magically come here and, you know, sprout.
09:58Still no linebackers.
10:00Still no linebackers.
10:01And then pick 112, the Cowboys finally get a linebacker.
10:05It's Harold Perkins from LSU, who at one point in time was considered a much higher prospect.
10:11Here's the problem.
10:12He tore his ACL in 2024, and when he came back, it did not look like the same dude.
10:17Did not look like the same dude in 2025.
10:20So you've added two old players, one of them coming off an injury who doesn't look like the same,
10:25and a wide receiver.
10:25That would be...
10:27That would...
10:28You could always be wrong if it could click.
10:30Like, that would make me feel a little sick to my stomach come Monday morning.
10:34I would not feel great about that collection of players if that's who they drafted.
10:38All right.
10:38NFL draft coverage.
10:39You know it's going to be the best in town with our entire squad right here on 105.3 The
10:45Fan.
10:46Thanks for being a total.
10:46That stands for turn it on, leave it on.
10:48The Penn State lineman.
10:51Mm-hmm.
10:52Where is he being projected?
10:54Vega Yolani.
10:55He is projected to go probably, like, around 15, like, in that range, top 15 to 18.
11:05And how do you pronounce it again?
11:06Vega Yolani.
11:09Brian Baldinger said, we had Tyler Booker come out last year.
11:14Zabel came out.
11:15They were great players.
11:16This kid is better than both of them.
11:18He said that to Jacob Sports or whatever it is.
11:22I agree with that.
11:24Better than?
11:24Vega's better than Booker.
11:25Better than Booker.
11:26And so that's the blinking light scenario that you may have to ask yourself.
11:29If at 12, receiver's the best position.
11:31It's one thing.
11:32But let's say you get to 20 and the best player on the board, which could potentially be it if
11:36he slides.
11:37At 20, I would imagine if Vega Yolani's on the board, he is the best player on the board, I
11:40would guess.
11:41And so at that point, you're asking yourself, well, do I just want to get a guard and move Tyler
11:44Smith to tackle?
11:45Like, if I've drafted somebody with defense with the 12th pick, it's a scenario that at least I think they
11:50would have to talk about.
11:52It's the red zone.
11:52It's the red zone.
