00:15But in The Stack today, we broke down some mock drafting today.
00:23And talk for a second, because I want to get, there's two questions, I want to pull those two questions.
00:27But talk about what you saw in the mock draft today.
00:30Yeah, it was a bummer, because you start to see early on, you're feeling decent, and then all of a
00:37sudden you've got the minefield that you're going to have to navigate with Kansas City, Cincinnati, and Miami.
00:43And you're like, okay, well, Reuben Bain Jr.'s available, Mansoor Delaney's still available, and then what happens?
00:48Boom, boom.
00:49Bang.
00:49They both go.
00:50Bang.
00:50Yeah.
00:51They go right ahead of you.
00:52So you're now in a situation where all the really good defensive players, unless you're willing to take Jermon McCoy,
00:58are now off the board.
01:00There's Jimmy Jermod.
01:01There's no David Bailey.
01:02There's no Sonny Stiles.
01:03There's no Caleb Downs.
01:04There's no Delaney.
01:05There's no Reuben Bain Jr.
01:06Arbel Reese is gone.
01:07So what are you going to do?
01:09Yeah, that's the problem that we ran into.
01:11And there was a discussion that we had yesterday about, I was trying to prove a point, because yesterday we
01:18had the discussion about looking at potential offensive players.
01:22Now, if you're in a situation where McCoy is clearly off the board for you, picking McCoy would be a
01:30great option for me at 12.
01:32That would be fine.
01:33I'd be great with that.
01:34But what if the organization doesn't feel that way?
01:37Yeah.
01:37You know?
01:38Since that's the way we're heading.
01:39Yeah, what if they don't feel that way?
01:41And what if they, and I said it earlier, what if they do have Falk and Parker guys?
01:46They might have some guys up higher than we do.
01:49Yeah, they could love Peter Woods from Clemson.
01:50They could love Peter Woods.
01:51Maybe they don't feel as kind of as beat up as I do about it.
01:57But if they don't like those guys, if they're not fans of those guys, and then all of a sudden
02:03you're having to maybe pick guys that you don't have on your stack as players worthy of picking at 12.
02:12So we did the mock draft.
02:13We ended up picking Lemon out of that group, is what we did, the wide receiver.
02:18Because it was compared to our stack was, he was ahead of our corner from Terrell from Clemson.
02:28So you're going to take the top receiver or your third corner?
02:31Yeah.
02:31Right?
02:32Kind of, or are you going to take the top receiver or the second best offensive tackle kind of situation?
02:37So that's kind of where I think that if, when you put your board together, we always talk about don't
02:42window dress your board.
02:44You know, put the players where you think and don't jump tags.
02:47I mean, that's the one thing where we've talked about that a bunch.
02:50When you jump tags, you get in trouble.
02:53But if they're not comfortable taking McCoy, then you really do have to be ready for some type of a,
03:01potentially, an offensive player.
03:03I wouldn't force this thing.
03:05I wouldn't force this thing and say, oh, we got to take, on my board would be the third best
03:10corner.
03:11Just because you need a corner.
03:13Don't, don't, don't, don't say, don't reach that way when you have another player.
03:19You have players probably graded higher in the stack.
03:22Would you rather trade down if you had the chance or stay and take an offensive player?
03:27Okay, this is what we did.
03:28Now, when we started the mock draft, when we started the mock draft, I had a feeling that when we
03:37were going to get, when it got to 9, 10, and 11, that I proposed at 8 that we go
03:43up.
03:44I proposed at 8, we go up to the Saints and make a trade.
03:49Now, okay, what you have to figure out is, I would do it similar to the compensation that we talked
03:55about with Cleveland, where you get the Saints early second round pick.
04:00Don't, don't, you know, don't sit there, listen, if you want to give them 12 and 20, and they give
04:06you 8, and then they're top of the second round pick, I think you can make this thing work.
04:11You know, that you feel better, both teams, I think, feel better about that.
04:16And we were thinking that if we were going to, if we were going to go up, that's how we
04:20were going to do it.
04:21We were going to get 8 and 42.
04:25Very similar to what we were trying to do with Cleveland at 6.
04:28Okay, we were trying to make sure that we got the defensive player we wanted.
04:33If you're hell-bent on making sure you get a defensive player, then you might need to go up in
04:40this draft.
04:41Because I've talked about this a bunch.
04:42I think, I think that Kansas City, I think Cincinnati, and I think Miami.
04:48And we found out in our mock draft, all it took was two of the three teams taking a defensive
04:53player, and we were out.
04:55We were in, we got put into that situation where we were having to think about drafting an offensive guy.
05:02So if you, if you want to, if you want to eliminate the possibility of being in the situation we
05:09were, of having to take an offensive player, you might want to think about going forward in this thing.
05:14Yeah.
05:14And making sure you get ahead of those teams that, like I say, all it took was two of the
05:20three, and we were, we were, we were talking wide receivers.
05:24Yeah, and Daniel Jeremiah today with KNC, it's like, yeah, Delaney's not going to be there.
05:28Like, he seemed very confident and definitive.
05:30Yeah.
05:31LSU corner, not going to be there at 12.
05:33And if you, and if you, if you have Delaney, if you have hopes for Delaney, and you have, and
05:38you don't like McCoy, now you've kind of, now you've limited yourself, which you can really, really do.
05:44Well, if you're trading up, I'd rather do it with Cleveland, if Cleveland's down to dance, because you get a
05:48little bit better of a second round pick and return, and, and you are able to more so guarantee yourself
05:54the defensive player you want.
05:56Right.
05:56Without risking, like, the commanders taking one of the guys that you like or whatever.
06:00I think it's, honestly, I think it's more likely that the defensive player go at 9, 10, and 11.
06:11Yeah, see, like, in our simulation, I think Downs went 7 to Washington.
06:15Yeah.
06:15I mean, if Jeremiah loves there, there does seem to be momentum, and it makes sense that Washington would take
06:20him there, but yeah, I mean, at 8, and it just depends on how it really falls, but you had
06:24your choice between Reuben Bain Jr. from Miami or Montsor Delaney from LSU.
06:28Yeah.
06:28And I'd be whoever they'd want there.
06:31You know, I'm cool either way.
06:32Love both those players.
06:33So sign me the hell up.
06:34But yeah, I'd like to do the Cleveland thing, too, if they're willing to give you back 39.
06:38That makes sense on our trade chart.
06:41Maybe Cleveland in real life's like, no, we're not giving you 39 for that.
06:44We want to keep that pick.
06:45Well, then you're not going to get 20, which absolutely helps them.
06:48That helps them that way.
06:50So anyway, you've got to think about if you want to get a defensive player and not get shut out,
06:57you might have to go up the way these things are.
07:00And now the question is, can you go back?
07:03And can you go back if these wide receivers are still on the board?
07:08It kind of depends on what we do at linebacker between now and then, doesn't it?
07:12Because I can't move too far back off a 20 without a linebacker.
07:16I'm available to move that 20 if we have traded for Jordan Brooks in the next four weeks.
07:22Yeah, true.
07:22But I mean, if I'm getting 39 or I'm getting 42, that's prime Anthony Hill Jr. territory.
07:27I think.
07:28If you trade out of the first round, you're not going to probably get Rodriguez.
07:33But if you trade out of the first round, I think you've got a shot at Hill.
