00:06but let's get to some draft stuff it's the nfl detroit lions draft aggregate blitz thingy
00:14okay so what we do is we take all the latest news what's being reported on our lions put in
00:20one place
00:20and give our opinions and we start with this dave burkett on twitter from the detroit free press
00:26tweeted out that the lions are linked to tennessee cornerback jamaud mccoy who missed all of last
00:31season with a torn acl field yates of espn wrote today if jamaud mccoy's knee injury pulls him to 17
00:39don't be surprised that the lions adjust their plans on the fly for the tennessee corner missed
00:46all of last year with an acl scott how do you feel about mccoy at 17 well i'd be fine
00:53with this if
00:53freeling and ionia uh the offensive lineman if those guys are gone because i really like those
00:58two uh i'd be fine with this if mesador is off the board um but if those three guys are
01:05there then i'd
01:06like to choose between those three i put mccoy along with the same lines as proctor um the other law
01:13offensive lineman from alabama the uh the safeties uh warren and thenaman um but i also put them ahead
01:19of guys like sadiq to tight end edge rushers that are beyond mesador i think he's a stud actually
01:26jamaud mccoy is uh he's a guy whose film is exceptional but he's hurt so that's the deal
01:33um with him being you know off or you know injured and missing a good portion of the year uh
01:38it's a problem but he seems nearly fully recovered his speed is is back he ran a 4-4 recently
01:45there are
01:45some questions about his you know lateral ability right now as he's coming back from the injury but
01:50that's all going to work itself out he could be an absolute steal everybody says he's the second
01:55best corner in the draft and they liken him to uh stingley and others so i mean i don't have
02:02too
02:03much of a problem with it i mentioned the three guys i'd take ahead of him but we'll see where
02:06they're at kang what do you make of mccoy at 17 so i hate drafting very recently injured players
02:12but he did just crush his pro day after skipping the combine he ran a 4-3 actually gator and
02:17hit
02:18it like oh yeah and a 38 inch vertical so he seems to have everything back we're in working order
02:24but
02:24the problem is we haven't seen him play football in over a year i worry about his love of the
02:28game
02:28doug he said you know he sat out the 2025 season because of the injury but there was word that
02:32he
02:33couldn't he was clear to come back which shows not to come back near the end of the season
02:36to focus on the draft his talent may be too good to pass and the only reason he's going to
02:42be there
02:42maybe for the lines is because of the injury uh he might be really tough to pass up but uh
02:48if they
02:48took him i'm assuming they you know they pass all he passed all the medicals and the lines feel too
02:52good about his talent yeah look i mean i don't hate this i don't love it as much as some
02:57other things
02:58that they could do but it's interesting cbs sports had some quotes about mccoy unattributed quotes
03:04a nfl general manager quote i thought mccoy was a top five player in this year's draft
03:09based on last year's film everything looks incredibly easy for him injury will scare some people
03:15and i don't blame them meanwhile a defense coordinator said he's the best cover player in
03:22the draft the injury thing the lions had success jameson williams being an example and they've had
03:28some failures on zarika had injury questions and so did hendon hooker but everybody's different and
03:33a lot of it has a lot of it is luck based this could be an ultimate steal i don't
03:38hate it
03:39don't hate it but i don't love love it next up on the needed edge rusher field yates also wrote

03:48whenever the lions draft an edge rusher look for the biggest frames with the heaviest hands
03:54zion young of missouri and gabe akis from illinois are targets at 50 would this be an ideal scenario
04:02two pretty well respected edge rushing prospects at 50 and if so which one do you prefer well as you
04:08know my guy is danny dennis sutton from penn state and he's nearly six foot six 260 pounds with big
04:14hands i don't know if that means heavy hands or not but that's my guy i'd rather have him over

04:18other two that being said um i do have ptsd about zion young because he played at michigan state and
04:24i didn't see much there and it's unfair of me to do that i got it but i'm just that's
04:29there uh as far
04:30as hackus is concerned or yakis or whatever it is hackus uh i i'm intrigued by this guy because he
04:39was a
04:39state champion wrestler so he knows all about leverage uh he knows all about grit in the fight
04:45i i appreciate that he's also very productive at illinois despite being the one guy in the in the
04:52front seven the teams had to worry about hey what are we going to game plan against we got to
04:56worry
04:56about this guy and he was productive so there's that out of those two i'd like uh yakis kang between
05:04the two i'm gonna go with zion young i think he's got the exact size the lions prefer to play
05:09opposite
05:09aiden hutchinson big dude big frame love his size and he's really developed at missouri since he left
05:16michigan state he can rush the passer and he can also set the edge is what i think they really
05:20prefer
05:20if they're going to draft an edge rusher in the first round so i like zion young doug
05:24yeah zion young was going up against guys like caden proctor and the kid from texas a&m that's going
05:30to get drafted who's playing in the sec akis i agree with you wrestlers in the trenches on the
05:35defensive line are awesome and the 11 sacks is hard to pass on i have a slight leaning towards akis
05:41but i
05:41will tell you this if these two are on the board at 50 and they went tackle in the first
05:45round
05:45i think brad holmes should be thrilled uh next up new visits mlive reporting some new visit news
05:53the lions have met with alabama offensive tackle caden proctor and now the nfl network adds
05:57that the team has hosted utah offensive lineman caleb lomu before next week's draft he's not
06:03considered a surefire first round pick to have accessibility to loma who would probably be at 50
06:09which would you prefer proctor at 17 or lomu at 50 and you could do something else at 17
06:16i tell you what there you as we did yesterday in the exercise there are so many combinations of
06:21players in first and second round that i really like and i think it's in large part because the
06:26lions have several holes they need to fill um i've backed off of proctor just a little bit not a
06:31ton
06:32but just a little bit after hearing john jansen talk about him and his concerns with him and the weight
06:37and is he really truly dedicated to playing football i love his size he's a mountain but
06:43if you're going to back off him for and and know that you can get lomu in a second round
06:48lomu has a
06:48high grade lots of people are just raving about him and they think he's a first round pick so if
06:53that
06:53means that i can get mesador in the first round and lomu in the second round sign me up i'm
06:59all for
06:59that plan can you yeah if you can guarantee me lomu at 50 i'm taking lomu at 50 and i
07:04do something
07:05something else at 17 lomu has really good length he's also very athletic as well and then at 17
07:11you can go edge go defensive back you know maybe do something even crazy we haven't even thought
07:15about yet but lomu at 50 i think would be a dream because but of course you can't guarantee this
07:20but
07:20if you told me you could i would take him at 50 and then like i said do something else
07:24at 17 where
07:25you need his strength is pass pro and mlive had this stat he gave up zero sacks and two quarterback
07:31hits and 383 pass pro reps and that included reps against david bailey of texas tech who they
07:39played against last year the highest rated edge rusher so i think he's proven it and proven it
07:44against the best so i i like lomu at 50 better than proctor at 17 uh next up justin mellow

07:53illustrated talked with florida gators cornerback devin moore who confirmed that he visited with the
07:58lions during the pre-draft process he's a 6-3 corner he's known for his physicality but espn
08:05lists him at just the 15th best cornerback available what round would be too high to select
08:12more so this one screams it's a brad holmes special meaning that brad holmes likes this guy so much
08:21doesn't care about the ranking he's going to trade up to get him this one screams to me brad holmes
08:25is
08:25going to move up into the third round because they don't have a third round pick they'll give up
08:28draft capital until the end of the draft move up into the third and take him is that too high
08:34i think
08:34it might be i mean you've got two fourth round picks i might be willing to just wait wait for
08:38him to
08:38come to you in the fourth round don't get too excited you know let it play out a little bit

08:44and and let's hope that that's the case if you really but if it's brad holmes if he loves the
08:48guy
08:48he's gonna go get his guy kang your thoughts no way in the second round third round too high
08:54because you'd have to give up draft capital getting to the third round maybe the fourth round for me
08:58he's not very fast lengthy lengthy injury history that's why he doesn't have like the film he has
09:04may be good but it doesn't have a ton of film doesn't have a ton of experience because of that
09:07i'm staying away from him so fourth at best for me doug i love the idea that brad holmes is
09:15doing his
09:15due diligence on a mid to late round corner i do not trade up for him i if he falls
09:22to you in the
09:22fourth round great but if you look at brad holmes the draft boards he built in la produced some
09:28real good playmakers for at least a period of time with the rams he got john johnson who had 15
09:36picks in the third round he got jordan fuller for the rams who had a good few years with them
09:41in the
09:41sixth round he got kirby joseph in the third round now not all of them have hit but that's what
09:46happens
09:46with mid-round picks but the ones that he's hit with have been real playmakers so this does scream
09:54a brad holmes kind of guy that he trades up into the third round and you go why did he
09:58do that because
09:58there's been a number of examples of that that he just couldn't didn't want to wait for didn't want
10:04to risk losing but if he lets the board play out and takes this guy i think it's really really
10:10intriguing well it's also kind of a brad holmes special if he's got an injured past
10:13right and lions fans are going to hate it if that's the case and then if you double down on
10:18the special and move up into the third to take them it's going to be a question pick look all
10:24that matters is how are they playing on sundays and and and we'll see there one thing i do i
10:28love
10:28the size yeah six three corners that that's pretty great but if you don't have the speed to match up
10:34and utilize that size and that could be problematic and there it is that concludes our detroit lion
