00:00We do have Daryl Ryder joining us right now, brought to you by Scheiben Jewelers,
00:04Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
00:06I will ask you, Daryl, is Sal Pal Antonio's idea of taking Kenyon Sadiq at six palatable to you?
00:13Hold on. Six is drunk. We don't have to take that serious.
00:15How about 24?
00:16I just said it. Six.
00:17Is 24 palatable?
00:19Is Sal Pal sandbagging us, Daryl?
00:21Yes. I think he's 100% sandbagging us.
00:24I also don't think that the Browns are picking at six.
00:26So, you know, I think that throws a little wrinkle into the conversation as well.
00:32So at 24 you do it, though?
00:35No, they need to come out of the first round with an offensive lineman,
00:41preferably a true left tackle as well as a wide receiver.
00:45All right. So with this, you talked about the trade down.
00:48Today was the day of trade downs.
00:50Three major mock draft guys mocking the Browns and Cowboys trades.
00:56Almost identical trades.
00:57It revolves around the sixth pick and the twelfth pick and everything else.
01:01Is that the perfect trade down opportunity for the Cleveland Browns?
01:05Well, I talked about this last night on the offseason special with Coach Riz and Jake Volnick.
01:11I feel like Dallas is the perfect trade down partner because Jerry Jones is someone that you can take advantage
01:20of.
01:20And I think that what's getting lost in this conversation right now is it's not about the picks this year.
01:29Okay. It's not about swapping six for 12 and 20.
01:33For me, I want Dallas's 20-27 first round pick.
01:37So you can keep 20.
01:39Give me six for 12 and you're 20-27 first rounder.
01:43And if both teams have to throw in some, you know, later picks or whatever to make everybody happy, then
01:49so be it.
01:50But I think that would need to be the goal or should be the goal for Andrew Barry if, in
01:56fact, he does trade down.
01:58And I think Dallas is the perfect team to do it.
02:00They already have a quarterback, so they're not worried about getting in on the quarterback derby next year or saving
02:06their assets next year for getting in on the NFL Draft quarterback derby in 20-27.
02:13So I think that they're the perfect trade partner for the Browns.
02:17And I don't think it's a coincidence that everybody is mocking a trade between the Browns and the Dallas Cowboys
02:24right now.
02:25And also remember, Andrew Barry's going to talk tomorrow.
02:28You know, he's probably not really going to tell us anything to tip his hand, you know, in any way,
02:35shape, or form what he's thinking.
02:37But just remember, this time last year when Andrew Barry took that podium in Berea, he had already agreed to
02:46trade the number two pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
02:49Okay?
02:50He had already agreed to that before he spoke to reporters.
02:53So, I don't know, maybe Andrew Barry's working on a little something-something right now behind the scenes that they're
02:58trying to keep quiet.
03:00Oh, that's interesting.
03:01Because, I mean, we're going to discuss Rappaport's reporting from yesterday on the Pat McAfee show in relation to Travis
03:07Hunter and that pick and how he was ready to take Travis Hunter.
03:10But it's a good reminder out of you, days in advance of the NFL Draft, he decided what he wanted
03:15to do already.
03:15Yeah, I mean, I believe the reporting was it was two weeks before the draft.
03:21They had worked it out.
03:23They had both agreed to keep it quiet.
03:25It would not become public until the Browns went on the clock.
03:30Then, as you remember, we got to draft night about an hour before the draft.
03:35We started to hear some buzz.
03:37Hey, maybe the Browns and Jaguars, hypothetically, could work something out for that No. 2 pick.
03:43And then, you know, the news finally popped.
03:47Yes, the Browns and Jaguars have agreed to that trade.
03:51The Browns moved down three slots.
03:53They got Jacksonville's 20-26 pick.
03:56So, I think Dallas could be the perfect trade partner for the Browns here at 6.
04:02But, again, I can't stress enough, they don't need a third first-round pick this year.
04:08You've got the 39th pick.
04:09You're good.
04:10You're good on top 110 picks.
04:15You've got five of the top 110 in this draft.
04:17You're going to get plenty of good players there.
04:19So, for me, the focus is get that 20-27 first-rounder from the Dallas Cowboys.
04:26Let them keep that 20th pick.
04:28Take No. 12.
04:29I don't think they're going to offer you the first-rounder next year.
04:31I think that's an insane asking price by yourself.
04:34Well, like I said, you do some things there, Jonathan, to make it happen.
04:37But I think that needs to be the goal of that trade.
04:39Well, so how far would you go then?
04:41Would you give up the idea that they keep their 12 and their 20 and it's just all you get
04:45in return is the 20-27 first?
04:47Would you do that?
04:48No.
04:49If the only way they'll say, well, touch the 20-27 first is if that's the only thing you get,
04:54do you do it?
04:56Well, no.
04:58I got to have the two first-rounders this year.
05:02And here's the other thing, too.
05:04You're also projecting there that if you make that trade with Dallas, okay, your pick next year from them is
05:12going to be similar to where this year's pick with Jacksonville fell, right around the mid-20s there.
05:19So, you know, that's the value that Andrew Berry is going to have to try and work out.
05:24But I do think it's paramount that you find a way to get Dallas' 20-27.
05:30Listen, you can play around with draft picks all you want.
05:32Maybe you give them next year's second-round pick to be able to do that or something like that.
05:37I think there's a way to do it.
05:38I don't know specifically what that formula would look like, but I think getting the Cowboys' 20-27 pick to
05:44move down six spots is doable.
05:48As a reminder, Dallas doesn't have their own first next year.
05:52It would be Green Bay.
05:53So, just in case anybody's trying to figure out that calculus on top of this.
05:56All right, Daryl.
05:57So, I want two picks here, one if they stick at six, one if they were to move down to
06:0212 with Dallas.
06:05Give us both picks for both cases that they happen eight days from now.
06:10Well, I think you go Carnell Tate if you're still at six because you need to fill that wide receiver
06:20spot.
06:21And he's the best wide receiver in the draft.
06:24So, I'll go Tate at six.
06:27And then if you end up sliding down to 12, then I think that's probably where you end up with
06:34one of these offensive tackles.
06:37Whether that's, you know, Malanoa, whether that's Proctor, whether that is, I'm trying to think here, who else might be
06:47there and slide down for them.
06:50Freeling, maybe you go that route too.
06:53But I think if you go down to 12, then you go ahead and you take your tackle with that
06:56pick.
06:58I don't like doing preview Andrew Barry press conferences because I just feel like that's just not a reasonable thing.
07:03But, like, I think tomorrow is interesting because are you expecting to hear anything of substance?
07:09Or have you just plugged your ears in and have recognized that he's just going to lie up there?
07:14Yeah.
07:15I mean, look, his job, but that's his job, right?
07:18His job is to be deceptive.
07:19For sure. I'm not discrediting him for it.
07:20Right, yeah.
07:21I mean, his job is to be deceptive.
07:23Remember a year ago, right?
07:24I mean, he just was heaping praise on Travis Hunter.
07:28In hindsight, being 2020, he's just sitting there thinking, boy, he's really not hiding this love for Travis Hunter.
07:34And then it turns out all he was doing was reinforcing to Jacksonville, hey, you made a really good trade
07:41here with us.
07:41You're getting a very good player.
07:45You really fleeced us in this trade, which, you know, hindsight being 2020, it is the Browns who ended up
07:51winning that particular trade.
07:53So I'll say this.
07:55One of the things I'm hoping to hear tomorrow, Jonathan, is how much he loves Ty Simpson.
07:59Because then I'm going to feel relieved that they're not going to have any interest in Ty Simpson.
08:05Daryl, Cavs, Raptors, game one Saturday.
08:09Are you expecting an easy first round for the Cavaliers?
08:13I think this is a five-game series, but I don't think it's going to be an easy five games,
08:19if that makes sense.
08:20The series is going to look a lot more lopsided than I think it will be.
08:26I certainly expect it to be competitive, but keep in mind, the Raptors slapped the Cavs around early in the
08:34season.
08:34And it's pretty amazing that, you know, they haven't played Toronto for months and months now.
08:40And they're a completely different basketball team.
08:43But I have a feeling this series is going to go, you know, the way they usually went when LeBron
08:49was here.
08:50So, I am expecting the Cavaliers to dispose of Toronto in rather rapid fashion.
08:57Do you agree with the idea that it feels like everyone's just kind of on the same page now of
09:01what the expectation should be?
09:02It feels like anything short of getting out of the second round feels like not a disaster, but definitely a
09:09disappointment.
09:09Changes need to be made.
09:10Meanwhile, if you make it to the Eastern Conference Finals, then you did prove something.
09:14Yeah, I think that, especially with the way this is set up for them, right, the fact that they aren't
09:22going to see Boston until the Conference Finals,
09:26assuming the Celtics get that far, I do think that anything short of a Conference Final,
09:34barring circumstances beyond their control, would be a severe disappointment.
09:41They need to break through this second round thing this time around.
09:47Maybe the third time will be the charm.
09:49It should be the charm for them.
09:50It's why they made the James Harden trade.
09:53And so, you know, they shortened their runway, if you will, their championship window runway with the age of the
10:02roster
10:03by bringing in a guy who's 37 years old and, frankly, running out of lives to get himself to the
10:09mountaintop as well.
10:10So, hopefully, you know, James Harden comes through this thing just as motivated himself to climb that mountaintop.
10:18But, yeah, if the Cavaliers don't get to the Conference Finals at minimum, that's going to be a very disappointing
10:22playoff run.
10:24Darrell, we're out here at Rally House.
10:26I'm looking at all these jerseys here, and I'm looking over to the Cavs there.
10:29We got World B-Free, Mark Price, two different Mark Prices, a couple of LeBrons, and then Sean Kemp and
10:35Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
10:36They have Sean Kemp jerseys over there?
10:39They sure do.
10:40Wow.
10:41I'm actually – I really kind of want one because I have a Sean Kemp Sonics jersey because that's where
10:47I fell in love with Sean Kemp.
10:49Well, you and Kemp are about the same size these days, so.
10:52Well, and they were in 1998.
10:55It's that last year.
10:56People forget the first two years of Sean Kemp was really good, and then he found out all the eateries
11:01in Cleveland.
11:02Yeah.
11:03So, I submit – I'm going to give you mine up front.
11:06I could really use a Vitaly Patopinko jersey.
11:10I just – that would, like, make me the happiest person in the world.
11:13Is there a – not random, but a former Cav that is in a Superstars jersey that you would love
11:19to have?
11:19Oh, yeah, man.
11:21I'd probably say Terrell Brandon.
11:23Oh, he's so underrated.
11:25Yeah, I love –
11:26I loved Terrell Brandon in the 90s.
11:29I really did.
11:30They had a run after Mark Price of really good point guards that didn't stick.
11:37It was, like, Andre Miller.
11:39It was Brevin Knight.
11:41It was Terrell Brandon.
11:43There's one other that I'm just not thinking of.
11:45And then we got LeBron, and he kind of stuck for a while.
11:49Do they – why don't you customize, like, the older jerseys that way?
11:52Well, I think you could – I would think you can just do your –
11:55You can customize anything, right?
11:56Yeah, yeah.
11:57You just – yeah, if they don't have the player you want, you just go ahead and say,
12:00this is the number I want.
12:01This is the last name I want on yet.
12:03Has that ruined these type of convos, though?
12:05The idea that you can just, like, if you want that jersey bad enough,
12:08you can just go online and customize it?
12:09No.
12:10I think it's only made it better.
12:11There's a thrill of walking into the rally house and then seeing, like, a Sean Kemp jersey.
12:15Yeah.
12:15Well, but it's still a Sean Kemp jersey.
12:17It's not like a fake Sean Kemp jersey.
12:18Are you implying that one created online that isn't –
12:21No, I'm implying, like, if you really wanted that jersey,
12:23you could just go online, custom make it yourself,
12:25and then you can get any jersey you ever wanted.
12:27Yeah, well, I think there's still something special about it if you've customized it.
12:31You don't have to be like, oh, I really wish the rally house had that.
12:34I got you.
12:34I got you.
12:34It's like it's there for you.
12:36It exists.
12:37All right.
12:38Darryl, we appreciate you, buddy.
12:40You bet, guys.
12:40Have a good week.
12:41Darryl Ryder there brought to you by Scheiben Jewelers,
12:44Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
12:45I'm picking up what you're putting down.
12:46It took me a second.
12:47Okay, good.
