00:00So today, we heard Andrew Perry. Obviously, they traded Miles Garrett yesterday. Have you heard
00:05about this? Have you seen about this? Have you heard about this? Well, today, the natural
00:08questions came up. Denzel Ward, you're thinking about trading Denzel Ward, similar situation to
00:13Miles Garrett. Here's Andrew Perry. I think it's probably most appropriate for Denzel to speak for
00:17himself. Number two, Denzel's been great throughout the offseason. His communication's been good.
00:23He's a big part of the team. We like him a lot. He's still playing at a really high level.
00:26That doesn't change with this transaction. All right. So pretty much a non-answer. And then
00:31Albert Breer, who, if you guys missed us, was on at 240 today. And here was Albert Breer on whether
00:38the Browns would entertain offers for Denzel Ward. I mean, I don't think they're going to look to move
00:43him, but not impossible. If this trade shows you anything, it's that, like, anything's possible,
00:48right? And so, you know, I don't think you're out there looking to move Denzel Ward. You know,
00:54you still have to field a team this year. I think, you know, you still owe it to the players
00:58to give them a chance to be really competitive, which I think the trade does for Garrett, because
01:02you are bringing a player like Garrett Burst back. I can't, like, look at my crystal ball
01:06and say for sure whether some blockbuster offer is going to come along in July or at the cut
01:12down in September. If they're willing to give a first-round pick plus something else, I think
01:16it's something you have to think about. But I don't know that given his age and his injury
01:20history, that's going to happen right now. So I agree with Albert that it makes incredible
01:25sense from the Browns side. If you were willing to move on for miles for a price that you thought
01:30blew you away, it would make sense, especially because it would save you money. And because
01:35Denzel's not getting any younger at 29, he just turned it in April. It would make sense
01:40if somebody comes along with the, oh gosh, offer that you would just not be able to turn it down.
01:45Yeah. I mean, I just don't know how the same logic doesn't apply. What applies to Miles Garrett
01:49should apply to Denzel Ward. And I just don't know why the Browns would be looking at it any
01:53differently unless they just felt like Denzel was so bad last year that his stock just cratered.
01:59And so there's just, what's the point of sending away another fan favorite for if it's not anywhere
02:03close to good enough value?
02:05Yeah. I mean, I, well, and I think it's as simple as that. If somebody came along and I actually
02:09think
02:09it's as simple as a first round pick. If somebody came along and offered you their 2027 specifically
02:15first round pick for Denzel Ward, I don't think Denzel would be here by, by cut down date.
02:20And I think this is them maybe suggesting that they just don't feel like that's coming.
02:23And which is why I think Albert's phrasing there of not right now makes Denzel probably the prime
02:31piece to watch at the trade deadline because teams always are willing maybe a little bit more to
02:36overpay with, with, you know, eight, nine games to go in the season. And Denzel can rebuild his value
02:42with the first, you know, eight or nine games of the season as well.
02:45And that's exactly right. Rebuilding the value. Like if he can show in the first eight, nine games of the
02:48season that he's back to being Denzel from a couple of years ago and not what he was last season,
02:52then all of a sudden we're cooking. I don't think a first round pick is insane. If it was peak
02:57Denzel Ward. I mean, Sauce Gardner got two first and a Donnie Mitchell, right?
03:01Right. Um, uh, Trent McDuffie, that was a first rounder, a third and a fifth, right? Like, I mean,
03:06like there's like the, the precedent's been set. These guys will spend first round picks on
03:10cornerbacks. I just think Denzel hurt his value too much last year. Yeah. And I think it's
03:14interesting, like with Denzel, uh, the other big kind of modifier here, but a variable, I guess I
03:20should say is does somebody get hurt in camp? Cause that's another thing that if a team that
03:27thinks are going to compete this year in August loses their premier corner, or they get into camp
03:34and just see that their corners that they brought in are not ready for prime time, that might be the
03:38other time. So I think it was really interesting when Albert said right now, I think he literally
03:43meant today, June 2nd, 2026, August 1st, 2026 might be different. Uh, certainly October 1st,
03:522026 might be different as well. Have you been thinking about the, uh, the Denzel Ward comments,
03:57uh, when asked by Mary Kay a couple months ago about like, well, what would your reaction be? Uh,
04:02if miles Garrett got traded and his response was somewhere in the ballpark, I'm paraphrasing,
04:07but yeah, it would make me, it would make me, you know, think about things again. I, he couldn't,
04:11he couldn't just legitimately stamp down that it was just a no go for me. I'm a Cleveland Brown for
04:16life. I, that's all I care about. He definitely cracked the door open of like, if they're trading miles
04:21and this is the direction they're going, I might not want to be involved in this. Yeah. And I think
04:27again, like miles to me is one of one, uh, as good as Jared verse can possibly be. I don't
04:33think
04:33he's going to come close to being miles. I still like Jared verse by the way. I'm just making the
04:37comparison with Denzel. I think Denzel, because of the health, I think, I do think Denzel is wildly
04:45underrated as a corner here in town compared to what like NFL players will talk to Marche saying
04:50that's the toughest corner he's faced. I think it was very, I thought he was properly rated for a
04:54few years. Then I thought he was underrated. And then last year just kind of hurt him a lot.
04:57And so I think now we're to the point where it's like, well, given all of that, a first rounder
05:02for Denzel at this point, this crew would be a massive, massive win for this organization,
05:06especially, and I think this is the other part from the Brown side of things. Again, I don't want
05:10them to trade Denzel. I didn't want them to trade miles. I probably understand the value concept
05:15more with Denzel, who I don't think is one of one. I think he's really, really good,
05:20but it's not like my, like miles to me is generational. Denzel is a very good corner
05:24when he's healthy, but he's not generational. I don't think they should concern themselves
05:27with any, you know, PR hit that's going to come with losing Denzel Ward. They certainly
05:31didn't this time. Well, they never do. They have it with miles. They have it with Njoku.
05:35They have it with Teller. They have it with Patonio. They have it with Nick Chubb. Like
05:38they don't care about that being the storyline. So I just find it interesting. Some people are
05:42painting the picture of like, well, you know, the Browns, they just, they, they love
05:45that Denzel's from here and he's been a loyal soldier and everything under the sun. It's
05:49like they, the Browns have shown you, they don't really care about that. They don't
05:52really care about whether the fans have an attachment to him, but I, Denzel's liked in
05:57this city. Denzel, you can move Denzel and the world will keep spinning. Which is, I still
06:02don't get. I mean, I understand we punish players for injuries a hell of a lot more than
06:08if they like punched a woman. That seems to be the case. Like if you, Hey, you, you,
06:12you struck two years and I'll forgive you. Oh, you got injured a bunch of times. Well,
06:18I don't know that we can have you around these parts. I can't figure out why Denzel isn't
06:22more beloved. I don't know either. Cause he also happens to be a really cool, just everything
06:25I've seen. I don't know him personally, but he just seems to be a really cool dude.
06:28He's made it to five Pro Bowls. Uh, that's an insanely large number of Pro Bowls. This
06:33isn't a guy that you wake up and you're like, yeah, he snuck his way into one of them. You
06:35know what I mean? Like five Pro Bowls is a big number, Ohio state local kid. Like
06:40he checks all the boxes of what it should be, but no, he just doesn't. It didn't, it didn't
06:45sit for some reason. And I don't know why he's also a football players football player.
06:50Like I love, I love hearing other football players talk about guys they love or guys
06:56they hate to play against. And Denzel, even last year was still getting a lot of really
07:01big kudos from, from other NFL players being like, I think that guy's a pain in the ass to
07:05play against. I think, okay, there's two things that hurts Denzel. I think the concussions
07:08obviously hurt the conversation. The other one is that, uh, for Denzel being as great
07:12as he is and getting all the accolades that he does, he's great at passes defended. He's
07:18not great at actually getting interceptions. And I feel like that always holds back Denzel
07:23because most fans, well, most fans think about interceptions and they just, they go to themselves
07:27like, Oh, well, did he, how many interceptions did he end up having? Oh, and there's been
07:30multiple years. I don't know that doesn't have a year where he's got over three in any
07:33given season. No, he doesn't. Uh, and in like the last, uh, let's say last three years,
07:37he's got five total interceptions, right? So like the lack of actually getting interceptions,
07:42the thing that stays with people's brains, the longest that hurts. Meanwhile, two years
07:46ago, he led the league and passes defect, uh, deflected. Like he just impacts games, but
07:50not in the way that it's a, it's a doubles hitter, not a home run hitter. That's the problem
07:54in the same way that redoing miles contract jumpstarted teams interest in miles. I do think
08:01trading miles might pique everybody's interest in Denzel in a way that could basically make
08:07this, this conversation today, uh, a moot point very quickly because you just don't know
08:11out there who really values Denzel at a different level and how many people are thinking about
08:16them from last year.
