Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning.
00:03Three types of weather today, showery for some, cloudy towards the west,
00:07brighter skies across more southern and eastern areas.
00:09High pressure which influenced our weather through the last 24 hours is drifting towards Denmark
00:15and this is going to open up the chance of more cloud and also some outbreaks of rain coming in
00:21from the west.
00:22Milder conditions warm across central and eastern areas on Thursday with some sunshine
00:26before it turns chilly from the west through Thursday night and into Friday
00:30with the prospect of some sunshine further north and west as we head through the day on Friday.
00:35If you're stepping out first thing, watch out for a frost across the north and the east of Scotland at
00:38least though
00:39once the sun rises you'll see the sun just coming up very nicely.
00:43More cloud across the bulk of mainland Scotland and some showery rain which has been making inroads
00:48from Northern Ireland, far northwest of England, towards the central belt overnight.
00:52Cloudy with some showery bursts across eastern parts of Northern Ireland and further south
00:57it's a rather murky start to the day.
00:59We're seeing one or two mist and fog patches and with that some low cloud as well.
01:03But all of this should lift and break allowing for some brighter skies as we head through the morning
01:08and into the afternoon.
01:09A bit of a breeze coming in across the southwest peninsula, certainly Irish seacoast
01:14towards the west of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:17So through the morning we watch as this cloud breaks across England and Wales.
01:21Notice the progress of this showery rain towards Sutherland, Murray Firth as we head through
01:26the morning into the afternoon and it would dry up across Northern Ireland but always rather cloudy.
01:30Cloudy across western Scotland and hanging on to some drier weather across the far north
01:35and northeast of Scotland as well.
01:37The cloud could break through the afternoon across southern areas of Scotland.
01:41Further south you'll enjoy that sunshine through the day as temperatures arrive around 14 to 17 degrees
01:47Celsius, probably 11 or 12 for the central belt, for Northern Ireland 11 or 12 as well.
01:52Now through this evening and overnight a few mist and fog patches can't be ruled out across England
01:56and Wales starry skies here.
01:58But notice this rain, a more persistent band of rain arrives across Northern Ireland as well as western Scotland.
02:04The wind picks up some strength here as the cloud thickens ahead of it and through into the early hours
02:09of the morning.
02:10You can see the rain trying to nudge in across Glasgow, the Trussocks, towards the Cairngorns.
02:15So a wet end to the night across the west there.
02:18For most though it's a dry end to the night, cloudy across eastern Scotland, clearer skies across much of England
02:24and Wales.
02:25And you'll see the sun as we head through Thursday across many parts.
02:30The clouds will thicken across west Wales as well as the west country.
02:32A little showery rain can't be ruled out through the day.
02:34More persistent wet weather across the bulk of Scotland as it clears Northern Ireland through the afternoon.
02:39But the air turns colder from the northwest with some showers.
02:43The wind orientates towards more of a northwesterly and so you'll see a few showers coming in.
02:48Places such as cold rain as well as the Outer Hebrides.
02:51We hang on to that rain through afternoon, evening time across most of Scotland.
02:56Clipping the northwest of England as well as west Wales, the west country.
03:00But notice brighter skies further east and this is where we'll see the highest temperatures.
03:04Top temperature, possibly home counties around 18 or 19 degrees Celsius.
03:09But feeling pleasantly warm places such as the Midlands up towards east Yorkshire.
03:14So, as we head through a Thursday evening and overnight, that cloud and rain gradually pushes ever eastwards.
03:22So, it all feels loud a little bit across some parts, becoming more fragmented.
03:26Notice this ridge of high pressure into Friday morning.
03:29So, expect a frost, particularly across Northern Ireland, Northern England, even Wales as well as Scotland.
03:33It's going to turn colder here with a ridge of high pressure.
03:36But the prospects of some brighter skies coming through as we head through to Friday.
03:40We hang on to more clouds across central and eastern areas of England.
03:43And that rain sort of comes and goes.
03:45And that's the name of the game as we head through the beginning of the weekend.
