Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Rain is arriving across the west, further east a dry start to the day, although we are
00:09seeing some showers across Shetland.
00:11The air is relatively cold, this is a weakening band of rain, sporadic birds pushing over
00:16north eastwards, pivoting across Northern Ireland, you'll see probably the most wet weather
00:20and then it turns drier into Friday morning with the frost and fog before yet again more
00:26wet weather comes in and this band of rain will be more persistent, slow moving, a broader
00:31area of wet weather and also the winds will be stronger as well into Saturday morning.
00:36For the time being there are the showers of the Northern Isles, clearer skies across mainland
00:40Scotland, the rain clipping Western Isles, South West Scotland, Northern England and Northern
00:44Ireland seeing some heavier pulses through the morning.
00:48That rain extends down towards East Wales in Midland, Central Southern England but notice
00:51showers already moving in, that rain has cleared the West Country as well as Wales and those
00:55showers will continue through the day but notice the cloud is breaking behind this band of rain
01:01so you should see some brighter weather, certainly some brighter weather coming through across the
01:06far north of Scotland.
01:07Eastern counties through the morning seeing some clearer skies but this band of rain just pushing
01:12towards these parts as we head into late morning through the afternoon.
01:18That rain already across central and southern parts of Scotland will push into more northern
01:23areas as it continues to rain across western Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:28Brighter skies in its wake with those showers across southern and western facing coasts and that brisk
01:34breeze continues across eastern Scotland clipping the far east of England. Temperatures will be similar to
01:39yesterday.
01:40Now let's head into this evening and see what's happening. Well two things are happening, first of all the rain is
01:47slowly clearing towards the north-east. Clearer skies inland, still those showers just peppering coastlines but it is going to turn a lot colder.
01:58Expect a frost into the early hours of Friday morning and with lighter breezes also some fog is likely.
02:04It's going to be a cold start to the day then but bright with some sunshine but that's not the end of the story as you see that cloud and rain roll in from the west.
02:12So by around mid-morning, Northern Ireland, Wales, the west country, some heavier pulses are likely yet again.
02:19And we could see that rain being quite persistent through the afternoon. So it's a good few hours of rain likely as it slowly pushes towards
02:26south-west Scotland, eastern counties of England. And your outlook through Saturday, it reaches the north there with showers to follow and temperatures
02:33recovering just a little bit. Wherever you are, take care, have a good day and I'll see you again soon.
