00:00Hello, we have a north-south split in the weather as we go through today and into tomorrow.
00:06High pressure situated in the south and temperatures will be rising here, but in the north we do
00:11have these weather fronts just draped over the north of the UK. You can see the area of high
00:15pressure to the southwest, but in the north that's where we're going to see rainfall totals start
00:20building, especially across the northwest of Scotland. We've seen some low cloud this morning
00:26that is generally lifting and breaking now, so we should see some sunnier spells as we go through
00:31the day. But it's across western parts of Scotland that the rainfall totals will continue to build as
00:37we go through today and overnight, so there may be some disruption here with some surface water
00:42flooding. To the south of that though, closest to the area of high pressure, fine and settled, the
00:47cloud will lift and break, but it will still be quite hazy at times, so some bright or sunny spells.
00:53Now in the south, that's where temperatures are going to be rising up to 27, 28, 29, possibly
00:59around 30 degrees. Across the far north, more suppressed underneath that cloud and rain,
01:05and a bit more of a breeze developing as we go through the day too. So as we go through
01:10Sunday evening, well a damp end to the day across much of Scotland. Again, northwestern facing
01:16hills is where we're going to see the rainfall totals build up. We'll see some murky conditions
01:20elsewhere, especially across northern Ireland, the hills of northern England, into Wales and the
01:25southwest with low cloud filtering back in. It might be thick enough for some odd patches of rain and
01:31drizzle to the far south. That's where we hold on to the clearest skies, but it is going to be
01:36a warm
01:37night to come. So temperatures holding up around 14 degrees in the north, but in the south, 16 or 17
01:44degrees to start Monday morning. Now through Monday morning, best of the sunshine in Scotland is going to
01:50be to the far north into Shetland. Otherwise, a bit of a repeat. We'll see further spells of rain,
01:55but perhaps just edging a little bit further northwards before building again in the north
02:00and west. Brighter skies developing across northern Ireland. All of that low cloud should burn back
02:06and retreat back to coastlines. So for many places, again across the south of England, that's
02:11where we're going to see a good deal of sunshine. Again, some high level cloud will filter in,
02:15so that'll make the skies a bit more hazy and perhaps some lower cloud just drifting further
02:20south as well. But in that sunshine, again, temperatures are going to continue to rise more
02:25on day-on-day heating, up to 31, possibly 32 degrees. But even across the north into Northern
02:31Ireland and Scotland, highs of up to 20 to 21 degrees. As we go through the period then into Monday
02:40night, further spells of rain across the north. So more so across Orkney, Shetland and the far north
02:45of Scotland. Elsewhere, a bit of a repeat. There will be some clear skies, but variable amounts
02:50of cloud as we go into the start of Tuesday. Now having a look at the bigger picture though,
02:56as we go through the week, we will start to see that high pressure really dominating. So this time
03:02it's the Azores High further out towards the west. So it's more day-on-day heating compared to the
03:07heatwave that we saw in June. There'll still be some fronts toppling in across the north of Scotland
03:12to bring cloud and outbreaks of rain here. And then as we go through the week, so Wednesday,
03:17Thursday and perhaps even into Friday, we draw up some south and south-easterly winds. So temperatures
03:22will be increasing again, perhaps into the mid-30s. So up to 33, 34 degrees. But like I said,
03:30we won't have that high humidity that we had in June. For more updates though, if you're watching this
