00:00I want to talk to you about what happened today with Todd Munkin and I really I don't want to
00:04make too big of a deal about it because I can hear other shows tomorrow for instance I can
00:08hear them already discussing it and and being like well yeah Todd Munkin you know he might have
00:14might have given some credence to the idea that it should door out of the gate but he maybe walked
00:19it back it wasn't really serious okay I just I know what I heard and what I heard Nick was
00:25somebody
00:25that seemed very enthused at the idea that Chador Sanders is in his office a lot and made a point
00:29of it to mention how little Deshaun Watson had been there and how he hadn't really seen Dylan Gabriel
00:34I don't think those things were an accident and at this point when you have a spot with Munkin the
00:40way that they do where he's so raw to all this and he's so new to all this I don't
00:45think he knows
00:46not to say these type of things quite yet yeah the gamesmanship of it if you will you know it
00:51was
00:51something Stefanski was good at right out of the gate like Stefanski was a robot it was hard to get
00:57anything out of Kevin any which way you never knew what he was thinking you never knew what if his
01:03words were gonna match his actions you just never knew I think maybe we'll have to have a year of
01:09detection with Todd Munkin of what's he serious about what's just hot air with Todd but I'm with you
01:15today I can't unhear what I heard and that's he said that how they divvy up these reps going into
01:22camp will be predicated on what they did last year and to me that just means Shador probably
01:27is in the driver's seat but we could be wrong I think this is similar to Shador with Shador it
01:31was
01:31like what's his superpower I don't know that Ty Simpson has a superpower either which I think is why
01:36most people look at him as a you know as as a second or third round prospect rather than
01:42rather than a first round in fact I'd say like if you if you look at the two of them
01:46I think they're
01:47you know the way people talk about talked about Shador coming out last year and the way people talk
01:51about Ty Simpson it probably is that far off you know one from the other that was Albert Brary
01:55joined us last segment and what's interesting about that is that I feel like it opens up a lot
02:00of possibilities in the conversation of what do you do with Ty Simpson but it also opens up the idea
02:05that if let's say they take him at I'm not even saying 39 the way Albert's talking is second
02:09or third that's a different convo Nick like that's a completely different if you take him in the third
02:15round you are very much in Shador Sanders territory from last year where it's not about them making
02:20him the franchise quarterback it's then about this was extremely great value and if he turns into
02:26something he turns into something yeah but if he's just the same exact quarterback that Shador is if
02:31that's what Albert's telling us where you know he doesn't view either Shador Sanders or Ty Simpson
02:36I disagree with that with Albert by the way the idea that Shador didn't have any elite traits I think
02:41his accuracy was an elite trait whereas with Ty Simpson I agree with him 100% I don't see anything
02:45elite
02:46that's why I'm not the biggest Ty Simpson guy it's it's like if if that's the fact is that they're
02:51very similar in that realm then you should probably just avoid Ty Simpson altogether I'm fascinated to
02:57understand how did the Browns view this though because Munkin and Simpson have really been exchanging
03:03pleasantries since it feels like Indianapolis yet at the same time Munkin definitely certainly sounds
03:09like he's warmed up to the idea of Shador Sanders so yeah it will be very fascinating to see how
03:16this
03:16all unfolds um because Albert man threw cold water all over where I was coming from on the Ty Simpson
03:24thing is at least if you do it in the first round you've got a plan you've at least liked
03:28something
03:29enough you feel convicted towards Ty Simpson whereas if Ty Simpson ends up being 39 or 70 I'm good because
03:37then you're it's just more of the same and you're really targeting one in 2027 and if that's the
03:42case then I'm just good to ride with Shador Sanders I saw enough last year where I'd be willing to
03:47just
03:47continue forward with Shador Sanders I'm not muddying that any further I think Shador is the better
03:52quarterback I haven't been shy about that I think Shador Sanders as of today doesn't mean Ty Simpson
03:56three years from now could be something uh I mean could be some way different in that conversation but
04:01like as of today I think the quote I had on it yesterday or maybe last week whatever it was
04:05was that if I
04:06had uh one game fate of the universe tomorrow am I choosing Ty Simpson who's six feet tall and hasn't
04:11played in 13 college games and I mean he's been in college for five years but 13 college games or
04:17am I
04:17taking Shador Sanders I'm taking Shador Sanders I'm with you a one-to-one I'm taking Shador Sanders
04:22over Ty Simpson but that's part of the problem then so like if they take this quarterback let's say in
04:26the second round or the third round you're spending draft capital on a team that desperately needs
04:29we have a lot of draft capital but you need guys you need people um and young rookie contracts
04:35even what happened at the edge position today where that AJ Epinesa doesn't go through with
04:40this free agent contract like now you could probably use a little bit of depth at edge like they have
04:44these nine draft picks it's not to say that you could just light them on fire like they did last
04:48year by drafting two quarterbacks like they should have just drafted Shador at 94 last year instead of
04:54doing Shador and Gabriel together it confused the entire thing one-to-one Shador and Ty Simpson
05:01I'm taking Shador every single time well so if Shador is going to win out that battle by the way
05:06that I think he would if he's going to win out that battle then what are you doing you're spending
05:09a
05:09second or third round pick on Ty Simpson for what like you still have to keep your options open for
05:14the 2027 draft do the Browns see it that way and that's the variable that we just don't know yet
05:20if the Browns think that Shador Sanders is this far off project quarterback if the Browns think
05:26that Shador Sanders long term is shorter Jameis Winston or Jacoby Brissett then they might really
05:34be serious about Ty Simpson I don't know how the Browns genuinely feel about Shador Sanders because
05:41I get mixed signals it sounds like the coach likes him it sounds like the general manager and the owner
05:45maybe not so sure if they're contemplating playing a guy who hasn't been good since the last time
05:51Tiger Woods was winning Masters I just don't know how you confidently know what Shador Sanders is one
05:56way or another right now I I don't know that the people that think he's going to be awesome I
06:00love
06:00you I do I don't know how you can confidently say that right now but I also don't know how
06:04you can
06:04confidently say you think he's going to be Jacoby Brissett either okay we just didn't see enough last
06:10year in a proper setting to be able to try to evaluate that I like I get it if you
06:15want to come back
06:15down to earth a little bit on on some of the projections with Shador I certainly have myself
06:20but I I've not thrown him out with the trash either I I don't know how you could possibly do
06:24that
06:25after the situation that he was put in last year and then so like if that was their thought process
06:29that he's just a career backup right now that would really surprise me that way I've just but
06:33if we want to play with that idea then if you take what Ty Simpson in the second or third
06:38round and
06:38then that's your that's your lottery ticket is that how they're viewing it like that's that's your guy
06:43the boomer bust that's so messy the boomer bust yes it is it sounds messy for a reason but is
06:47that
06:47like your boomer bust uh proposition that I've been describing for Shador is it really just high
06:52the entire time here's what we do now that's annoying if it's true because again that's not
06:56a plan I know that's not a real plan it's not a plan and here's how it exposes that it's
07:00not a plan
07:01is that you'd be banking on Ty Simpson falling to the second or third round to even see this plan
07:06through and then and then banking on hitting a lottery ticket like that and what do we know second or
07:10the
07:11what do we know about this team that would scare you into that logic they love value that's what
07:15they always preach that's that's how we got in the Shador you're scaring me that they're going to do
07:20they're they're not going to do it at 24 you're scaring me that they're going to do it at 39
07:24and
07:24they're just going to add to the confusion of Sanders v Gabriel v Watson v Simpson in round two if
07:31he's to get there if he gets to round two then you don't love him that much though I agree
07:35with that
07:35Ty Simpson at least be convicted and draft him in the first round like I I miss those days JP
07:42like
07:42the the Browns right now feel dead I miss having a little bit of conviction when we used to sit
07:47here
07:47and argue do you want Baker do you want Darnold like people were pounding the tables and planting
07:52flags for these guys I don't even love Ty Simpson as a prospect we've been through that plenty over
07:57these last couple of hours I don't think Ty Simpson is God's gift to football by any stretch of the
08:02imagination I'm just looking for a real plan that's what I've devolved into I used to sit here
08:08and debate these prospects and Baker and I loved his accuracy and his attitude and Darnold I was
08:13worried about the interceptions and the fumbles and the ball security like I miss all of that now
08:19we're talking about oh maybe he sneaks into the second round and we could get him for value like
08:24there's no conviction there like there's no long-term planning there I agree with you but what I'm saying
08:30is I didn't listen to Albert last year when he spoke the way that he did and he was dead
08:33on
08:34and I'm not going to fall for the same mistake twice he tells me the people he talks to around
08:38the NFL say Ty Simpson's not going in the first round at least the majority of people he's spoken
08:42to that's how the NFL thinks I'm led to believe he's right he was right last year I'm led to
08:47believe
08:47he's right now
