00:11good morning from the United States we are here at the circuits of the Americas
00:15Austin Texas for our first race of the day and it's Moto3 Alvaro Carpe starting
00:20from pole position for just the second time in the Moto3 class but looks so
00:25fast alongside him though look at that Casey O'Gorman and the young Irishman
00:29starts from the front row in Grand Prix's for the very first time
00:32Championship leader Max Keilis didn't have it all his own way during practice he
00:36starts on the third row but showed some real pace throughout the weekend heading
00:40up that second row look at Pratima there another good qualifying session from him
00:44Scott Ogden did well in qualifying as well we've heard from him on the grid a
00:47little bit battered and abused he starts on that fourth row alongside Joel Kelso
00:52Kelso's teammate Eddie O'Shea a little bit further back on the sixth row of the
00:56grid I spoke to Cormac Buchanan this morning Neil coming into the circuit back
01:01is sore as you might imagine he said I've just he's got I've got sail bike get
01:05through this race and hope that I'm fitting again from Heret because he has
01:10taken a battering this weekend believable yeah one of the biggest crashes I've seen
01:14in a long time just a week ago in Brazil and said that one didn't affect him at all
01:18I was the other crash in Brazil that's hurt him that's all so strange I mean he's had
01:23three crashes in the last week big bigger than I've never had a crash that big but
01:28honestly I mean you said you spoke to him earlier I was gonna I was but I was just
01:31thinking why is he come down from the moon like huge high side so obviously is
01:37the young Kiwi's made a tough stop yes it's a bit sore as you might expect
01:41temperatures here 23 37 on track to starting to creep up isn't it and I do feel
01:48like in this Moto 3 race tires will come into it won't they this track just asks a
01:54lot of them yeah it does yeah quite abrasive lots of different corners lots of hard
02:00acceleration out of slow corners that always eats away at the drive part of
02:05the tire but what I was gonna say Gab if you're gonna race a motorcycle in
02:08America this is about as good as it gets 23 degrees there's a nice cool breeze
02:12actually yeah these are perfect conditions to get stuck in get your
02:16elbows out pretty much everyone's gone with the soft rear tire there's a few
02:20mixes on the front row Casey O'Gomer has gone with the soft front Carpe and Perone
02:24with the medium front so there's a little bit of a mixed bag in terms of the
02:28front tire Jesus Rios there number 54 he's got a double long lap penalty to take
02:33Marco Morelli has a single lap long lap penalty to take Rios for causing a crash in
02:39Brazil and Morelli he balked Veda Pratima on his qualifying lap didn't affect the
02:45Indonesian too much he starts from the second row of the grid so exciting this
02:49one who's your money on here today because Carpe had four tenths on the field he
02:54had eight tenths on Quiles but then Quiles throughout the weekend has looked
02:58strong yeah Quiles appears to have the best race pace but he's starting from the
03:02third row of the grid if your Carpe is starting from pole you have got to just put the
03:07hammer down try and get a good start and do it literally do a super pole lap try and
03:11break the group and what about Casey O'Gorman what's he got to do because he has looked
03:14great all weekend he's got great pace that one it's not a one lap wonder Casey's an
03:19aggressive rider anyway so he'll face hey Casey will fancy his chances which is
03:24that's why he's here sounded confident on the grid when Nat spoke to him
03:29beautiful day he has just ticked over into the afternoon two minutes past midday
03:36a little bit of a breeze out there something just to think about in Moto3
03:40but absolutely this is the ideal conditions for a Moto3 Grand Prix here in
03:46the sunshine in Austin in Texas big fast circuit dwarfs these Moto3 machines
03:52there's Ireland's Casey O'Gorman starting from the front row of the grid for the first
03:57time alongside in Valentin Peroni another hard charger and Albro Carpe still
04:00searching for a first Grand Prix victory so here we go then our first race Moto3
04:0614 laps revs up lights out we are on the way great start from Carpe look at that Peroni as
04:13well on his
04:14inside they will funnel onto a tight apex Prasima and O'Gorman trading a little bit of paint up there
04:20on the inside is that Keyless yes it is what a start from the third row of the grid but
04:25at the front
04:26really even better from Albro Carpe yeah Carpe got a good start like I said he's going to put the
04:31hammer down but
04:32Keyless like say from the third row of the grid he went straight to the inside wait for everyone to
04:35break and just break later
04:37come on in me and Mark Marquez yesterday exactly what he did when he made it up to third from
04:41the second row
04:41so Carpe last up front around the right hander and turn six it's a long loop it's a horrible corner
04:48he lost the front but he stays in it yeah the team meetings definitely been listen you have to go
04:55from
04:55poor position because you know Keyless's race pace is pretty good Valentin Peroni trying to stick with
05:00him as they drop down towards turn 11 not wanting to hamper Carpe in any way because he senses that
05:06this
05:06he's going to be broken up as KCO Gorman attacks down to turn 11 good move Pratibasoy coming though
05:13and tries to just let him go through they are side by side on this straight elbow to elbow side
05:19by side
05:19flat out up to about 140 miles an hour 145 miles an hour down to the one of the slowest
05:25corners of the
05:26year down to turn 12. Peroni opting not to take the slipstream just uh and now look at that for
05:33Max Kiles how much he makes on the brakes Peroni then slots in behind Carpe it's all going off behind
05:37uh in the lay of our bike in there of Guido Pini we heard from on the grid getting busy
05:42so Carpe still
05:44leads Peroni alongside Kiles is there now in third and Adrian Fernandes trying to bridge that gap
05:50he's bringing through Joel Esteban who had a really solid weekend back in Brazil and he's in the mix here
05:57with KCO Gorman just behind Pratibasoy with him they've just got to make sure they don't keep knocking
06:02looks out of each other go Gorman and Pratibas both got the pace but don't get too far behind yeah
06:08yeah the problem is if they do not looks out of each other which they are doing exactly what we
06:12see right now and then Casey returned the favor and just sent him off the side of the track there
06:17yeah but this is where you just got to be careful yeah these three are going to eat away I
06:21mean what
06:21an opening laps for Max Kiles in third from the third row of the grid obviously he did get a
06:26good start but
06:27he's put together a really clean lap there up towards big red at the end of the first lap starting
06:34lap two Carpe still leads them has looked solid he's really built this weekend he was fastest in first
06:40practice and then fastest going into qualifying topped it off the lap record here this weekend by
06:48our road Carpe was broke by 1.8 seconds and it's not like Moto2 where they've got to soften the
06:54tire
06:54same tires as last year 1.8 seconds I mean that's unheard of really I mean just incredible how fast
07:00the
07:01whole field is going oh that's a really aggressive move there from Guido Pini and then straight back
07:07Joel Esteban and this is the problem they start battling like this the gaps will open up and you need
07:12to be with the leaders because you need that slipstream to stick with them yeah and all that
07:17part of the track almost changes the direction you leave the door open but the problem is if someone
07:21makes a pass it's going to slow both riders down Uriate launching it at the side of Rico Salmela wow
07:28right out on the outside of the racetrack for Joel Esteban it was down on the grass there Esteban
07:33so still Carpe and Perrone lead Chiles just in that sector not as strong but then on the straight
07:40the Aspar bike seems to be working so well we've said that before I think the Aspar team always get
07:48the
07:48maximum out of their package similarly the Leopard Honda of Adrian Fernandes see him close up there
07:54Esteban again he's completely off the track in the back of shot there I don't know what's been I don't
08:00look at each other oh Gorman and Esteban Pratima's going to attack Esteban by the looks of things
08:07really messy look how clean it is for Carpe in front his elbows high elbow that he's got out
08:14road Carpe it's brilliant it's like Ben Speedy's out there it is it's a different sort of riding
08:19style it's it's rare you see a young rider with that style because it's a bit old school as well
08:24here they go again Pratima having a look at the side of Joel Esteban
08:29oh Casey Ogorman miles off the track there actually got that wrong into uh turn 90 track limit soon
08:34going on because I've seen a few Casey again that's two in two corners yeah Valencia Perrone takes over
08:40the head of this race now fastest rider on track is Guido Pini in fifth but look how he's dropping
08:47Esteban and Ogorman and Pratima as they barge into each other corner by corner
08:53the corner now leads from Carpe in second place not able to break away but he'll feel he's done a
08:59good job of just making sure there's less riders in contention here and it's funny yeah you have to
09:06talk to yourself you have to say if I keep banging into this person we're both going to go back
09:11so I
09:12will just sit behind him hopefully he's going to drag us forward I'm talking about Casey Ogorman and
09:17Pratima I've just seen him again yeah you get to the point where you've got to think okay let's just
09:25have a I'll have a go up following you but I mean obviously both very young men new to this
09:31championship
09:31and they'll learn they'll look back and think yeah probably I've cost myself two or three seconds just
09:36by uh just being a little bit too aggressive so we like to see aggression don't we oh absolutely and
09:42that's part and parcel of moto three this was the move a little bit off track there look at oh
09:46gorman
09:46he's in the car park
09:51so the number 73 a valentine peroni the country yeah that's that was stream on that one
09:58for the stream as well yeah oh peney late but i don't know oh sorry is it fernandez yeah yeah
10:04his opinion coming now no again oh gorman off track in the back of shot that was not a track
10:11limits it turns well what a group we've got at the front though and what i'm thinking of it is
10:16aggression you've got some personalities at the front of this moto three race now the only one there who
10:22might say isn't that's the car pain yeah it's the one who i think is the most level-headed yeah
10:29most sensible of them hasn't taken a win so far so maybe that's part of parcel literally the reason
10:34as well because we've seen carpe in quite a lot of these scraps and uh getting beaten up really so
10:42yeah this is a it's a tasty lead group and look now prathom has managed to go to the back
10:47of them
10:47for shows with a clean lap yeah you know you've got an absolute stream a lot case is potentially just
10:53going to end up in that second group if he's not careful yeah and he's now got adrian cruces coming
10:58fast uh behind them the likes of joe kelso scott optins in 12th place eddie o'shea down in 17th
11:06as carpe's now having to scrap with guido peeney this isn't the race he was expecting not when he's
11:11doing two minute 12.1 yesterday in qualifying i wonder if he's just thinking about tires i think
11:18he is i think they'll be saving the tires you've got to look keyless has got to the front now
11:23and
11:24is he gonna drop the hammer is he gonna try and stretch this field out a little bit this was
11:29the
11:29move up into turn one for max keyless his bike isn't it that's fascinating there but there's also a
11:38little bit of it's like extra power but they can't beat them no no exactly but it's just how they
11:44set
11:45up it must be the way they've got that bike working but is that using more tire we'll find out
11:50later on
11:50in the races adrian fernandez isn't gonna sit back and watch wants to get involved doesn't want to see
11:56keyless breakaway this moment again in the back of shot really strange it must be on the track
12:01limits there must be something going wrong he's clearly got an issue no rider in this so such a
12:07few laps runs off the track to the extent that case is so maybe he's got an engine brake issue
12:11could be
12:12the case pushing him forward in the braking zones yeah he's losing hand over fist look at him now and
12:16he's under pressure in fact cruises has just passed him so oh my goodness me little look over the shoulder
12:22there from guido peeny these lot right so stephan comes on the inside he touches peeny then prats was
12:29in the most dangerous part of the racetrack there on the outside this is going to get lively
12:37texas two-step out on the racetrack between the moto three field
12:42perone now in four peeny fifth frattsman sick there's stevan in seven and manx keyless all the
12:49while he's now able to focus on his job of breaking away fernandez will know that and will i expect
12:55something from fernandez sooner rather than later yeah you don't to let keyless control these races
13:01that's what he wants he wants to dictate the pace he knows regarding tire wear what sort of lap times
13:06he
13:06needs to do so the thing is though when you're leading you're cutting a big hole in the air on
13:12these long straights so you do you are giving the the group behind the chance to get that draft oh
13:23so can you just let people know see that as they drop over the crest you can see at turn
13:27one
13:27just how tricky that corner is to negotiate to the handkerchief size apex apex i'd say turn one
13:34is the the most difficult corner of the whole season i can't think of a more peculiar corner
13:40you've got that long straight it goes up that real steep it up to turn one but then it's the
13:44sort of
13:45tabletop effect how it levels off at the top you cannot see the apex when you get up there i
13:49know
13:49you've been up there we're going to go before the gp race you cannot believe how tight that corner is
13:56remarkable corner and that's where everyone funnels in at the start of the race providing a lot of action
14:02in this one here comes throwing another one this is the bobby pin down here another really tight
14:07one look at that so tight again i'm not sure tv oh a big high side yeah and down goes
14:14esteban
14:14nothing he could do in that situation we've seen them in the past here haven't we we have yeah yeah
14:19we've seen that before do you know what i was i was watching pratima all the time he looked like
14:25he's
14:25gained quite a lot of confidence from the first two races and he would look like he was over his
14:30limit a
14:30bit for me they were pulling moves left right and center and it's bitten him for all joel esteban
14:36nothing he could do in that situation again of golfers off the track luckily that one said there's no
14:41green there is there so it was uh you won't get that won't be uh it won't be penalized for
14:46that yeah
14:46you feel for a step on in that situation just one place wrong time yeah fourth fifth oh just a
14:54big old
14:54eyesight like i said he's just too aggressive on the throttle but he's he's looked leery the whole
15:00race taking liberties and eventually one of them bites him yeah this track has bitten for pratima and
15:08boy esteban so at the front group of five has opened up then a big gap back to casey o
15:15'gorman
15:15whatever problem case he's having it's costing the shot at the win in this race right what do we
15:23say about car paint building into this one new fastest lap of the race price on margin
15:29keyless is keyless that's the hammer down here yes yes hence and he is trying to go now he's trying
15:35to stretch them i thought he might have just sat for a few more laps trying to save a bit
15:39more tire but
15:41we have seen keyless's pace throughout the weekend has been the best race pace got all that experience
15:46in the aspart team haven't they um what david alonso did to go on and win the championship okay
15:52in the early laps it's a case of sometimes you have to go for it straight from the others you've
15:57got to
15:57manage it this one it looks like it was make your way to the front and then hammer down
16:05yeah what did kevin schwanns say earlier we had a good chat with kevin schwanns on thursday and you
16:10asked him what makes the difference with a rider what did he say the team the people around here
16:15you're talking about max keyless in the aspart team with all that experience i mean jorge martinez
16:20the man who warns the team aspar he's uh ex-world champion i mean he's literally been in this paddock
16:26since the 80s he's been there seeing that he's got quality people big culture in there as well who
16:32looks after these riders just great people and that builds confidence as a rider when you ride for a
16:39team like that because of course you trust what you're being told and now carpe who wants to follow
16:44him but look at this he's being hunted he's being passed and now peeney's up to second peroni in third
16:51fernandez back to fourth and carpe at the back of the field and again that just helps keyless as
16:58he's out there in front yes punching a big hole in the air but not using up his tires so
17:02much
17:03i hope i'm not tempted fair but this is as smooth as i've seen peeney look in second place
17:08quite a um what's the word crusher he's a crusher he's a pusher he's italian he's young he's brave
17:17he's got lots of talent he's one of the riders who is known to get a little bit of red
17:23mist but he's
17:23looked immaculate so far in this race making his way through to the front started on the second row of
17:29the grid it's looking all weekend actually it's not just been one lap here one lap there as he's showing
17:35in this race new fastest lap of the race from guido pini and they need to do them because all
17:41the
17:41while chiles is just running a really nice pace at the front oh that's where you don't want peroni to
17:51that's just cost them both time you've just lost a tenth there and a bit of momentum coming down the
17:55hill that's it and the honda is he's at the strong part of the race track usually for the honda
18:00through the flowing sections you know guido pini in second place must be good when his manager
18:05is emilio alzamora now the last person that emilio alzamora managed what was he called
18:11i can't remember decent rider did more gp what a few races yes he was mark martin marquez's uh personal
18:20manager of a young age of a young age where i'm going with this is he's got an eye for
18:25some talent
18:27yeah he took his hat on peeny hasn't he yes i don't know if he manages anyone else does he
18:32i think there's younger riders there are there are a couple in the junior championships that he's uh you
18:38know he's got under his yeah he's got brian uriarte yeah who's currently in sixth place he's the junior
18:45world champion from last year the red bull rookie champion from last year so yeah just to get to
18:49underline i think he's uh emilio knows what he's looking at actually emilio himself was a one two
18:54five cc world champion back in 99 or when was it 2000 yeah i think yeah 99 and then 2000
19:01lucky
19:03selling as they run wide peeny and baroni no penalties there they have been our first track
19:08limits warnings coming up though you can see that triangle on the tower on the left and it's ready
19:13o'shea surprisingly wherever casey o'gorman's been running off hasn't been tracking these areas
19:19no eddie got a terrible start he was down in 20. he's worked really hard actually worked his way up
19:24to 14th and
19:24i mean like we've that we've said earlier has really good race pace but unfortunately you have a bad start
19:30you don't stand a chance mayor ramastorfer's at the back of the field and he's crashed out all alone um
19:36just having a look john kelso's now made his way up he's at the head of that chase pack now
19:40he's in sixth
19:41place so kelso for the great em live squad and making his way through in good order just ahead of
19:48casey o'gorman those opening laps what we said that that's sort of the back of the lead group when
19:54they start battling that's what's created the two groups do you think kelso would be able to run with
20:00this if he goes away just lacking the one lap pace at the moment isn't he joe and that was
20:06his strength
20:06on the ktm that will come though that'll come with experience oh wow threading the eye of the needle there
20:15the thing is in moto three but you know you've made a move it's pushed someone off the track you're
20:20not going to get no give out penalty car in moto three no because everybody had a penalty well
20:26exactly the lap wouldn't include turn 13 the lap would be the long lap loop
20:34pass over pass but meanwhile you look at keyless in the front he looks like he belongs there he looks
20:41like he owns this race we saw him do this well we've seen him do it on numerous occasions but
20:46just a week ago in brazil he was so impressive that's why when he started on the third row we
20:51were looking at car pay we i actually thought car pay would have a bit more pace maybe he does
20:54later
20:55in the race um but we always said just keep an eye on keyless because it just looks like it
20:59suits
21:01similarly with david alonso although in moto two that's obviously the next race on our card he's
21:06relegated back to 17th on the grid incorrect tire pressures which is a bit of a shape for him from
21:12pole to 17 17. tell you what they've taken that serious well he's just he's qualified two times
21:17which wiped off okay fair enough yeah um and because ortolla didn't complete a lap that's why
21:23he's just ahead of ortolla there's vader looks to be okay yeah yeah looks all right all part of the
21:30learning curve i mean you start this is championship world championship campaign with a fifth place and a
21:36third and like i said he just looked a bit layering he's not looked that bad in the past so
21:40all part of the learning curve he's controlling that adrenaline it's good to have self-belief yes
21:46you've got to think that you're the man and you can win but step by step well there you go
21:52kilo's got
21:53that slightly wrong shall we say through turn 19. i know it is ripley round there i think there's just
21:59part of the track that you hit it wrong and it just flips you directly off the track quite a
22:04few riders do
22:04that well it shows how much kilos is on the limit being forced right if he's hit a bump there
22:10remember
22:11silver mentioned it on his lap didn't he yeah it's ripley there isn't it
22:19yeah i've mentioned his lap once to us has it since he did it on friday has there been any
22:24other
22:24conversation that was a long evening friday night you went out with him last night as well yeah we were
22:29we were the broken spoke local uh texas two-step country bar and so we were looking at all the
22:34country music the dancing silver's still talking about his lap
22:39wore off yeah wore off silver
22:45that was the uh move at 19 there for kilos where he obviously just
22:49missed his mark done the right thing though brought it back around yeah absolutely done the right thing
22:54pick the bike the track limits the fact is you've got well and over beyond and you lost around
23:01that definitely counts as the track limits you're like i did not touch the green
23:08obviously the idea is that uh the green paint is it would have been crass so you've got to
23:13have some kind of penalty that's the point you need to suffer a penalty casey sauna wouldn't be happy
23:19no i've not wanted the ball but yeah it was on the outside of the racetrack and saying this was
23:25grass
23:25yeah casey's adamant it's like just put grass on the edge of the circuit and it'll stop them from
23:30running off the edge that's a shame for joel oh joel kelson was running in sixth spot and
23:36turn 11 yeah that's marco bezeki so easily easy easy to do it's a horribly tight again where turn one
23:44is perhaps one of the trickiest corners that could be the tightest corner on the whole motor gp calendar
23:48turn 11. yeah i don't know what the uh radius of it is but which one is the tightest because
23:54there's
23:54three ridiculously tight ones but that bobby pin turn 11 is just i don't know if that is tighter than
24:00one
24:00or 12 but they are yeah 15 as well got five first gear corners and that's why it's it sort
24:11of splits the
24:12pattern some people quite like this track some people don't most two of them are next to me yeah
24:17exactly so i loved it and i i just not got on with it but like it's this you come
24:22here it's
24:23it's this huge facility this huge track and it's got the average speed of valencia yeah which i can't
24:30get my head around i just wish they built something and this part of the track is beautiful you drop
24:35down
24:35the hill and it starts to flow through two three four five six and then it then it tightens up
24:40i mean this
24:41is a really good part of the track and again it's all through rollers as well isn't it and max
24:45keyless looks to have got the flow back adju fernandez has lost the toe alvaro carpe he's there in
24:52fourth i'm not counting him out here you know still you know there's parts of the track and i think
24:56a bit
24:56of it is that that ktm the yaspar ktm at the front gets off the corner as well certainly the
25:02last corner
25:03the gap grows but through these the flowy parts as you'd expect a little bit that honda in second place
25:09with
25:09the guido penic carrying the corner speed just seems to claw back a few meters perone's kept his
25:15powder dry hasn't he in this race a few times even on the early laps it's like he almost i'm
25:21not saying
25:21he's not able to attack but he's just rolled out of the view where where normally he'd go for it
25:26he's not
25:26close enough maybe he's maturing maybe he's learning never not a moto three rider impossible okay look at
25:34keyless i'll tell you what that bike is an absolute rocket ship it's a missile isn't it we
25:39in the motor 2 race in brazil if you watch daniel gardor's motor 2 aspar bike whatever they do
25:46i know they work work hard in the wind tunnel through winter the and it's small details marginal gains
25:52that we always talk about in this sport make a huge difference
25:58looking further down the order scott ogden's there in 11th eddie o'shea's in the points gain in 13th
26:03place markham roly after his long lap loop uh he's up into the points now the problem is when you're
26:09racing against someone who clearly has a speed advantage you're not in a position to make that
26:15pass you're too far back so if you try a lunge it's going to end up in tears and essentially
26:21then
26:21you have to ride over your limit through the corners always trying to keep that no trying to
26:25claw those meters back but it's corners like this right now this is not talent or ability you just
26:30get out the corner point squirt and look by the time we get to the breaking zone look at the
26:34size of
26:34the gap it's huge look at on our timing screens neil look at that yellow indicator that just popped up
26:39for
26:39us max keyless has just done a personal best lap of the race he's built into it still built into
26:45it four
26:46lapsing go now it's a case of just getting his head down good scrap going on here rico salmela the
26:5227
26:53casey o'gorman on the 67 on the inside uh brian oriarte as you could just see he's there in
26:59seventh
27:00place cruises and scott has also got in the mix that's good scott say oh hello casey i told you
27:08it was
27:08one line through there didn't say wow there weren't much room through that that we did another one
27:14the honda does look good doesn't it oh and then a big moment out the front for salmela
27:23that's what i like to see though and do you know what like we talk about this in racing a
27:29lot
27:30instinctive riding you're not thinking about doing the past yeah exactly you're just making it happen
27:34and do you know what the part of this is for me here for o gorman is he's come up
27:39through the ranks
27:40with these kids bashing fairings with them week in week out in the junior classes yeah he's had
27:46another couple of years that he might have had because the age limit changed but this is he's got
27:51no fear of bashing into these people or you know making them making his presence felt it's got no fear
27:56it's got no respect is it there's that as well and what i mean by that is he's beaten them
28:00all he's not
28:01you know he's not here thinking wow i'm finally a grand prix rider and i'm racing against people
28:06i've looked up to or people have can i beat them he knows he can beat them he's beat max
28:10keyless
28:11a lot oh keyless lost the front there scott ogden's just got through on o gorman now so he's also
28:17starting to feel his way into this one at the front max keyless just having a moment guido pini and
28:23valentine peroni are sensing there might be a shot for them here peroni starting to look like he wants to
28:29make a move there's warnings all over this race track it's a tough place to get your head around
28:37max keyless leading the way watch this now three to go so so pini's right behind he should be in
28:45a
28:45position to pass him up to turn one and look you get to the finish line and already it's like
28:50five
28:50bike lengths look at that personal best lap still for keyless despite that moment personal best for
28:56valentine peroni as well in third is this not an easy one to call with three to go neil no
29:03i think
29:03that i think aspar have thrown the 300 cc engine in they've moved the 251 aside i'm joking obviously
29:09but it's that sort of power that is not obviously i'm not insinuating the cheating of course i'm not
29:14but whatever they've done with the gearing gear ratios the setting on that bike they've got it
29:21absolutely winning perfect
29:26we always talk about the bigger balance don't we on the motorcycle well you know until your geometry
29:31how you do you set your gear ratios that kind of thing and you you lose in other areas and
29:35it looks
29:35like in certain other areas the other bikes are stronger but then when we get into the straights
29:40they've obviously pitched there oh oh here we go late move yeah but see right we're going to see
29:47here aren't we from max keyless now yeah he's just going to blast past him he is and i think
29:51that
29:51was there you go there's david in his slipstream what that is the weirdest thing didn't even take the
29:58slipstream because he knew mirror signal maneuver peroni also coming through peroni fantasies chances here
30:06this is about to go off oh smell the gunpowder because he's about to get fires the year in texas
30:13that was a
30:13good move from peeney super aggressive well keyless nose in the race and carpe's not out of this one
30:20now like coffee's dragged into it now with these uh moves being pulled on the riders if you know
30:25should you get aggressive you go slower well this is about to go on it already has isn't it has
30:32been even one did he win one last year or am i getting confused no no no no i don't
30:37think he has no
30:37no he leads them yeah from max keyless in second place he told peeney put the front last year
30:45in quite a few of the races but he didn't manage to seal the deal of this front group peeney
30:52of
30:52course still searching for a first grand prix victory what's this quality verone also still
30:57searching for a first grand prix victory albro cafe still searching for a first grand prix victory two
31:03laps to go and this look at the go anyway look at the speed difference oh gab i've never said
31:07i don't
31:07like it oh on the brakes perone oh and he sats him up in turn one there has max keyless
31:15got tire issues
31:15at this stage of the race now is that really really really confident oh he's got an issue front tire
31:22baby
31:24he's been a couple of times he hasn't just been able to bring it down to the apex in quite
31:28the same way
31:30do you know what i mean as in he's really confident like oh i'm not worried i've got more
31:34yeah that's what i mean straight exactly oh we'll see yeah we're going to find out there's one and
31:39a half laps to go look have you noticed through this through this sector they were closing on him
31:42i just wonder if his front it's not quite feeling it at this stage of the race yeah he's losing
31:47right
31:48i did not see that coming at all went with the uh medium option so it's peening from perone
31:54are we going to get a new grand prix winner with carpe in third yeah yeah one oh penis lost
32:01ground
32:01there and so perone comes through on the inside now what's keyless got here at the back of the pack
32:06has he gone too early has he shot his shot far too early in this race perone and pini alongside
32:13each
32:14other clawing it back meter after meter on the straight carpe's now going to come to the inside
32:20albro carpe has got perone pini on the brakes is devilish but he's wide perone then cuts through
32:27to the inside pini has the inside line but perone takes over keyless isn't out of it yet he's back
32:33up
32:33into third just over a lap remaining in this core free as carpe straight through on keyless what a
32:39crackerjack opener here at the circuit of the americas yeah it almost looks like maybe keyless has got
32:45tyre problems because he can't quite get the thing turned can he now he's lost a load of ground through
32:49the
32:49the twisty car park section valentine perone from argentina leads this grand prix actually born in
32:57spain but runs under the argentine flag with pini in second place behind him third for albro carpe former
33:07junior world champion former red ball rookie champion still has not won a grand prix but in just 3.4
33:15miles
33:16one of them looks like they will have their first winners trophy in grand prix racing turn one's your
33:21first opportunity carpe surely going to attack up into here he does he does he's leveled yeah leveled
33:28him actually up the straight into so he didn't have to break any later but pini has been strong through
33:33the flip flops but he just lost a bit of momentum heading down through turn two can you imagine the
33:39feeling now the adrenaline with these young riders like i said that your top three there none of them have
33:43ever
33:43gone at a grand prix before pironi look deep look deep and that can affect your momentum can't it through
33:49these flip flops they want to be careful because if they let chiles get on the back of them coming
33:53onto the straight he'll be oh pina's almost gone down and the problem there is it's bought chiles too
34:02up through turn nine over the top down through ten through the bumps down to the tightest corner perhaps at
34:10turn 11. here comes chiles on the brakes on pini and now he goes through is he able to get
34:17the run
34:17on them down towards turn 12 last lap of the us grand prix he shouldn't be able to he's nowhere
34:22near
34:22close enough to get the slipstream but his bike's that fast it's going to just stop picking it up ever
34:27so slightly yeah now it's picking up the draft you can see it coming forward and he's coming closer and
34:33closer all the time max chiles but it's like he just normally you feel like you go for it from
34:38there
34:39at the front alvaro carpe has taken over oh big bump for chiles is that his race run as pironi
34:46fights back and that will create a gap for chiles because chiles was wide it still could go anyway
34:53at four we've only got five corners remaining in this race pironi leads on the 73 from the 83 of
35:00carpe
35:01the 94 of pini the 28 in the back is chiles three corners linked in here through the right handers
35:08and carpe's turned underneath them what a move from alvaro carpe riding underneath valentine pironi
35:13who has to have a go at 19. does he send him wide does he touch the green paint into
35:19the bottom
35:19on the inside oh carpe's on the inside line watch pini on the inside he's gonna win it oh he
35:28worked it out
35:29and chiles take second carpe is done but Bruno pini saw the move happening in front of it took the
35:36best
35:37line out of the final corner and the tall lanky italian wins the race for the first time
35:42crawl crew says behind beats starmailer to the line uriati is eight but tally is ninth
35:48ogden is tenth eddie o'shea gets 11th place across the line what have we just witnessed now well we've
35:54we've we've been introduced to obviously a new winner and a new man patient pini the one who used his
36:01head he allowed the two riders in front to completely out break themselves here we go with two corners to
36:07go
36:07oh that's from carpe i mean that was tight and we're going to come downhill into the penultimate corner
36:12up the inside goes who is that that's perone and then he's always going to it's always going to be
36:19a last corner but he just goes in way too late does carpe pushes them both wide and pini patient
36:27pini
36:29can't believe it guido pini is a grand prix winner for the leopard honda team we'll have all the
36:35reaction to a brilliant start to our day here at the grand prix of the united states back with the
36:41podium in just a moment
36:50delight in certain parts of pit lane despair in others valentine perone was within 500 meters perhaps
36:58of his first grand prix victory passing in turn 19 he can sense it he can smell the chance of
37:04winning
37:05then he's attacked by albro carpe grido pini reads it brilliantly sees that that's a lunge passes on
37:11the inside perone's put to the outside of the racetrack he misses out even on the podium so from leading
37:17into the final corner he's four pini wins what a moto three race to start our day and he needs
37:24some
37:24consoling the young lad but i thought he rode the best i've seen him ride almost because he rode with
37:29his head today he did nothing wrong that's that's racing he attacked him to the penultimate corner
37:34like you're supposed to do and he couldn't have the exit speed he needed because of that but that
37:39that meant he was vulnerable and then he could control carpe running very basically off the track
37:44and how many times in that race could he have attacked in the final corner or penultimate and he
37:47didn't yeah kept his powder dry hey not to be for perone uh deserves a big boost from his team
37:53for the
37:54ride albro carpe looks a little bit frustrated i feel like he and chiles were the perhaps i can say
37:59this sounds weird the fastest out there but whether they were managing tyres or had a few issues here
38:04and there it's grido pini's consistency throughout the race that has won it for him yeah yeah and pini
38:09just an absolute demon on the brakes fast through the fast corners not uh slow back on the straight
38:16he almost lost it on the last lap grido pini if you remember through turn five that's right yeah that
38:20big slide remarkable race great race loved it can get broken up here can't they that's the first italian
38:27to win since dennis fodger won in 2022
38:34in moto three first italian winner you know we're talking about paul steve talent from various places
38:39the italians have put their faith in this youngster he's tall he looks like he should be on a moto
38:44gp bike
38:45rather than moto three from borgo san lorenzo which is the town nearest to magello he's got racing in
38:52his blood and he's got his first race win carpe can't be disappointed i think i think he rode really
38:59well i mean maybe slightly fortunate that that group started to battle each other and sort of clawed them
39:05back but that's why you never give up do you yeah he attacked into the last corner which you're supposed
39:11to
39:11to yeah what was what what else was he going to do what if he stayed second he wasn't going
39:16to win yeah
39:18got to have a go
39:22great race looked it yeah this track's not the best sometimes because of that the snake section
39:28spreads people out a little bit good ride from scott hogden not not a good weekend at all really for
39:35for him so it's a solid 10th place finish so it was carpet and so naughty he is getting a
39:42penalty for
39:42that or at least he's going to get his wrist slapped you cannot wait weave like this look at this
39:47yeah right it's so dangerous so uriata came across the line in the eighth in the end look at eddie
39:53o'shea
39:54he made it all the way up into that group except so eddie o'shea finished 11th he was 20th on
39:58the first lap
40:00it's a good ride actually from o'shea it starts his season three point scoring finishes
40:05that's a step forward isn't it yeah let's have a uh watch uh of what alvaro carpe has to say
40:09to jack
40:12alvaro first podium of the year and there can be no doubt in the fact that you went all in
40:16on that
40:17final lap what are your emotions now to have come out at the end of it in third a bit
40:21sad a bit upset
40:22from the from that last corner because not just by myself because i dropped two positions just also
40:30for perroni i have to say sorry i have no option to to defend this because i i was very
40:37i was going
40:38very very wide so i have to say sorry first of all and then about the race i have to
40:43say was a bit
40:45uh uh difficult because maximo was pushing a lot then i i go back a little bit because i made
40:53a
40:53mistake on the on a breaking so um i tried to catch them two laps to go i catch them
40:59i i try i start to
41:02overtake and then i arrived to the podium as i said i was a bit upset for this third place
41:08but was a great
41:10race uh i say thanks to all the team all my family my friends they are looking at me at
41:15home say hello
41:18and that's all thank you also for all the fans great ride well done thank you i don't think it
41:23needs to apologize no at all you go up to valentine and say look mate that's racing that's it absolutely
41:30hey it wasn't he did what he's supposed to do he did what that is sort of what your job
41:34is and he
41:34shouldn't be disappointed i thought he rode well today and if it's meant to be third in the battle like
41:39that then so be it you've you've given it your all gonna tie you can see just on penis couldn't
41:46you
41:46just at the edge of the tire they were feeling somewhere let's see what max keyless now has to
41:51say to jack because he led for much of that race what happened late on
42:00max it's another podium you extend out the world championship leads but after setting that red hot
42:05pace and leading for so many laps how do you reflect on the race yeah i was pushing to try
42:10to open gap
42:11but it was difficult it was really windy i think if there was not so many wind i could have
42:17a bit more
42:18of feeling and push even more but i was risking a bit too much and in the last three laps
42:23i said okay
42:24i'm going to go behind i'm gonna learn about them let's see let's see if i can do another thing
42:30and the last lap i knew something was going to happen so this is why i didn't fight too much
42:36with
42:36pinny i was thinking if in the last corner i feel that there's nobody overtaking i overtake pinny but
42:43i saw it was going to be a mess i said okay go and i overtake them i overtake them
42:49in the last corner
42:49it was great so i think it was a really good race because i thought a lot and i think
42:55this is something
42:55i improved top ride well done thank you how old is he that's that's worrying for every other rider i
43:03mean he's only just 18 yeah and riding with such thought he obviously did feel confident but he got
43:10back to the back of the group well it was like i said it was strange wasn't it his body
43:14language was
43:16that i've had he's really confident i've got a problem so thankfully he was fully in control and in
43:23doing so extends his championship lead now 23 points over car paper look at the smile on this
43:27young lad's face guido pinny a first time grand prix winner guido what a race what a last lap what
43:37a
43:37final corner can you believe you've just won your first ever grand prix in that manner well it's been a
43:45long long weekend for us because we we work in a very good way and this is the result so
43:51we have to
43:52continue in in this line because we see the results so i'm really happy i have to say all thanks
43:58to all
43:58my team because they make an amazing bike and we have an amazing group so thanks to them and all
44:04the
44:04people support me and looking from from italy huge congratulations thank you
44:13oh he's so excited to kiss the mic that's so cute
44:17uh totally unpredictable that race i think you're coming coming in it looked like max keeler's had a
44:22little bit of an issue uh in the last few laps but let's get stuck into that last lap michael
44:27because
44:27it was dramatic it was so exciting to watch yeah i could see that peroni's front tire was banded on
44:32the right side we came into the triple right-hander and he just couldn't turn it well enough so yeah
44:37it was all to play for this is down the long back straight and at this point you think keeles
44:41is maybe out
44:42of it but the strength of the aspar engine was going to bring him back in he's good on the
44:45brakes as
44:46well gets back onto the two rebel ktms but at this point you're looking at peeney and thinking can he
44:51win it from there in fourth place so this final sector this is where it all begins to play out
44:57the
44:57front tires are really over their limit so especially peroni more attacks here carpe losing the outside peg
45:03but uh what really impressed me was carpe's turning so his commitment in this triple right-hander how
45:08he just nails it gets it in under peroni and then peroni's ability to respond so this is it we're
45:13coming into the the triple right-hander watch peroni he just cannot turn the bike the front tire is
45:18completely gone carpe just squeezes it in under but peroni he's ready to respond fires it to the inside
45:24at turn 19 takes it all the way to the outside which pd gets very close to the green paint
45:29here but
45:30doesn't touch it actually and for this moment on you know that the move's going to come from carpe watch
45:34peroni he loses the front here right at the apex and somehow saves it gets non-stop the track i'm
45:40impressed with peeney though he just checked it up called it perfectly he was going to go for the
45:43move on the inside got better off it and it delivered a victory today what a performance from guido
45:48it really was an incredible performance silvan what did you make of pito peeney today we're on board here
45:54patience paying off you know guido peeney normally he's the one that is going to take that extra risk he
45:59makes look for a lot of mistakes and he was wise he patiently waited positioning himself in the
46:05right way he was gonna have a go like michael said in turn 20 you could see he was ready
46:09to pounce
46:10but as soon as the both ktm riders in front brought a little bit too late he thought better and
46:15then
46:15and then waited a little bit and got the the exit of the corner so yeah uh really well done
46:20to him
46:20and uh it's funny we were talking to paolo bonora early on and he said patience about moto gp obviously
46:27but um as it uh as it as we've just seen he also uh works for motor free it runs
46:32throughout it seems
46:33around kota gava what a way to take your first victory absolutely superb 318 year olds on the podium
46:40here miradrag kotor the team boss down there at leopard also joins him up on the podium as he accepts
46:51the trophy for the constructor today robert dingman who's president of the ama gives the trophy to alvaro
47:02carpe now up to second in the championship two mercians on the podium in carpe and in
47:09chiles 65 points great start to the year for chiles with a win and two second places putting
47:26together a championship campaign but for the first time first italian in four years to win
47:33a grand prix in moto three from just around the corner of the migello circuit guido peeney
47:41is victorious in the u.s grand prix and now we'll hear the italian national anthem ring around kota
48:25an explosive opener here just box office stuff from moto three with guido peeney that
48:33phenomenal maiden victory for him max kiles in second place and the pole man alvaro carpe
48:39taking a very strong third all 18 years old the kids are all right what has moto 2 got in
48:46store for us
