00:00:19the pack hasn't quite got there faster as fast as we thought he would but still migrating his cell forward
00:00:26up to 14th now.
00:00:28Now the car in the free pass position is the number 48 Justin Allgaier is in that car again this
00:00:36week he's the first car one lap down Hedrick Motorsports Jeff Andrews says that Alex Bowman continues to experience vertigo
00:00:44symptoms so the team is following the guidance of the medical team and giving Alex the time he needs to
00:00:50recover so he's going to be out for the next two races in addition to this one.
00:00:55Guys Chris Buescher has run his boss down Brad Kieloski the leader of this race in a hurry.
00:01:01That last lap he was three tenths of a second faster than Brad so that 17 car is making some
00:01:07speed right now passing him and catching him and passing him is two different things.
00:01:18We called Buescher a grinder had a little feature on him in pre-race where I grew up in central
00:01:23Connecticut a grinder was a long sandwich what's called a hoagie or a sub or a torpedo in other parts
00:01:30of the country.
00:01:30We called it a grinder but I know what you meant and it fits he grinds it out.
00:01:43Oh see right there exit of turn two right right there Ricky Stenhouse tried to come down the hill right
00:01:51there and Chase Briscoe just touched the apron and it shot him up up the racetrack a little bit but
00:01:56that could have been a lot worse.
00:01:57You can get yourself in trouble off of turn two really really fast with the way that the bumps are
00:02:02and the way that that car shoots up out of the hole up up to the wall off the exit
00:02:05of two.

00:04:07It's maintaining about six to eight.
00:04:11And the good news for both of these cars they're going to score stage points and put themselves in a
00:04:15great spot for the first two stages so far.
00:04:19So that's the exact opposite of what they've been doing to start the year by protecting themselves in the first
00:04:24two stages by running well.
00:04:26Yeah all three of them are going to have stage points with Preece in six.
00:04:30Now here's Keselowski's radio.
00:04:33This is the worst I've been for drive off of both ends.
00:04:3648 just let Chris go.
00:04:38Got to be efficient here.
00:04:39Nice and smooth.
00:04:43Pretty normal to have that racetrack start to swing the other way as far as how the handling characteristics are
00:04:50working.
00:04:51As you'll notice when they go down into turn three this time that shade's starting to creep over the wall.
00:04:56And when that shade starts to creep over the wall here that's when the balance starts to change on these
00:05:01cars.
00:05:01And see the shade that's starting to come in right there.
00:05:04It's starting to get longer down the racetrack.
00:05:06And that's when the money is made from the crew chiefs up on the pit box.
00:05:12Sometimes you go to a racetrack and you just have to anticipate when things like that happen.
00:05:16So who's who came up with their car the best now that it's starting to the track conditions are starting
00:05:21to change.
00:05:23Daniel Suarez drawing a beat on Austin Sendrick.
00:05:26That's for 10th place and a stage point.
00:05:30Every run.

00:06:04Suarez.
00:06:05So no love lost there Clint.
00:06:07No but I think Daniel's getting the last laugh of that.
00:06:11Yeah I mean on the racetrack Daniel's definitely out running the the one car and his old car you know
00:06:18from track house racing and heard Ross talk about the struggles of track house racing on our pre-race show
00:06:24today and he was very vocal in saying hey our cars just aren't very good on the long runs.
00:06:29And so when the driver's starting to speak out publicly like that it definitely gets the attention of the team.
00:06:36So Chastain just went past Kyle Busch that was for 20th place.
00:06:41And here is Tyler Reddick moving he just moved past Ryan Priest to take over sixth Larry.
00:06:46Yeah Mike it's been about 75 or 80 laps since they changed that battery put the bigger battery they just
00:06:52asked for an update on his voltage.
00:06:53He said 12-7-12-8 which is good we still got over 100 laps to go and he's not
00:06:59complained about anything else about the brakes.
00:07:03Closing in on we've got some 11 audio.
00:07:21Yeah if something's moving around he might have a wheel that actually didn't seal all the way up.
00:07:26I saw that car move around down the back straight away and sometimes if that wheel comes loose it'll actually
00:07:32cut it in half and then it'll go flat.
00:07:34So if that wheel is actually loose there's definitely something moving around in the back of the car.
00:07:41But it'll it'll it'll shift on and off of the of the hub and start to move around and make
00:07:48it feel like it has a flat tire but it's not flat.
00:07:51Larry I know you want a couple stage points but what do you do here?
00:07:54Yeah I mean we still Mike we've got you know we've got 15 laps to go before this.
00:08:00No we've got five laps to go before the stage is over.
00:08:03I just don't know about a loose wheel.
00:08:05They've run 41 laps.
00:08:08You see here comes the run.
00:08:10Buescher is on him.
00:08:12Brad's having trouble with Lugano and some lap traffic.
00:08:15This is the opportunity.
00:08:18Coming to four to go in the stage.
00:08:21And Buescher's there.
00:08:28Well that's what we talked about with Brad's car earlier when he when he would get into traffic you know
00:08:33you just have to be you have to be precise because the front tires aren't going to turn and we
00:08:37know it affects the Fords more than the other brands.
00:08:41But it definitely has been a little bit more of a struggle for Brad than it than it seems like
00:08:46for the 17 car of Chris Buescher but he's going to fend them off this time.
00:08:51But that 17 car is fast.
00:08:52Buescher and Brad are two spots apart in the point standings.
00:08:57So doesn't matter much whichever one of them wins the stage.
00:09:01It's good for RFK either way.
00:09:05Three to go.
00:09:10Denny Hamlin has fallen from 10th surrendered that to Daniel Suarez.
00:09:18Nope just crossed him back over.
00:09:20Yeah and what a day for for RFK though.
00:09:23I you know no matter what happens the rest of the day these guys have shown up and had the
00:09:27speed to contend at the front of the racetrack even when you know I know Tyler Reddick has has the
00:09:32fastest car that on the racetrack.
00:09:34But they have been right there with him to be able to compete and make pit stops and do all
00:09:39the things that it that it takes to keep themselves at the front of the pack.
00:09:43But Suarez down there he took for granted.
00:09:45He just decided he was going to do a slide job on Denny Hamlin and Hamlin gave him a little
00:09:50bump but cut him a little bit of slack as well.
00:09:52Daniel got the 10th spot.
00:09:54That'll be the last point paying slot here at the end of the stage in two laps.
00:09:59All right Chris Buescher do you beat the boss for stage two what happens here.
00:10:03Now you see Brad struggling with grip right there you can keep that pressure.
00:10:07Yeah you can see the back of the car moving around but I agree with you Clint just keep pressure
00:10:11on him try to make it move and make him push a little harder than he wants to.
00:10:17Don't let him get the left run out right here.

00:11:21It sounds repetitive but race the racetrack.
00:11:24Only go as fast as your car will go.
00:11:27And just keep yourself in the game because so many people are going to make mistakes.
00:11:31This weekend's cup race could be the gnarliest race that we have seen there in a long time.

00:12:28But we've seen so many mistakes on pit road today put Bubba Wallace pretty much out of this race with
00:12:33that bad pit stop he had.
00:12:36Now, Denny Hamlin came in before pit road opened, and they're talking on the radio about a monoball as being
00:12:43possibly the problem.
00:12:45Let's listen.
00:12:46We think there's nothing underneath that's broken that we can tell.
00:12:50We think we had a left rear wheel loose.
00:12:52There's signs of that.
00:12:53It's the only thing we can tell.
00:12:55Okay.
00:12:55I mean, that's a possibility considering what I felt.
00:13:00Yeah, so I've had this scenario happen.
00:13:03It happened to me at Phoenix one year.
00:13:04And it felt like, remember, Clint, when the track bar we used to have them move around?
00:13:08That's what happens when that left rear tire comes loose.
00:13:11That thing will start to shift on the hub, and it'll start to feel like it's adding skew to the
00:13:15car.
00:13:15And when you've been driving it straight all day, it feels really funny and definitely got away with one right
00:13:21there.
00:13:21And that stop was 9.2 seconds, their fastest stop of the season.
00:13:27All right, pit road is open.

00:13:29Kyle Larson's crew chief, Cliff Daniel, standing on the wall, assisting the pit crew as they go over for him.

00:13:36Still has that vibration that he's had all race long, especially early in the run.

00:14:18And that's what you want to see when you have a car that hasn't been in the front consistently all
00:14:22year.

00:14:49Tyler Reddick, the pole sitter, led the first 45 laps but had trouble in the pits.
00:14:55Yeah, Reddick obviously had some issues with having to change a battery, lost all that ground.
00:15:00It's been the whole race trying to make that up.
00:15:01And more pit trouble as Blaney and Bubba Walls.
00:15:04We talked about this, that every pit stop important.
00:15:08This affected.
00:15:09And Chris, the one thing we highlighted is we want fast pit stops but we don't want this.
00:15:13You don't want a disaster.
00:15:14It can take you completely out of the race.
00:15:16That got Bubba behind and then got even a wreck.
00:15:17Yeah, Denny Hamlin into the 43 of Eric Jones.
00:15:20Behind that, Bubba Wall is second in points.
00:15:23He started on the front row.
00:15:24He goes into the wall, causes problems.
00:15:27But in the meantime, the story is this man, 42-year-old Brad Keselowski, the stage one and stage two
00:15:33winner.
00:15:352012 champion.
00:15:36He's won here twice before.
00:15:38And, Jamie, we talked on our pre-race show about how experienced and veteran drivers do the best here under
00:15:45these situations.
00:15:45You hope he's had a couple of pit stops already, actually four or five here.
00:15:48You hope that his pit crew can be up to what he has so far.
00:15:51Can he hang on?
00:15:52Yeah, I think, I mean, obviously Brad and Buescher have really good cars.
00:15:55But the one that I have my eye on is Tyler Reddick.
00:15:57You mentioned at the beginning they had to change the battery.
00:16:00Billy Scott gave Tyler the option at the end of that when they changed the battery.
00:16:03He's like, look, if you run into your cooling equipment, we will have to put another battery in that car.
00:16:08Tyler has toughed it out, not rid of any of that cooling equipment, has put himself back in a position.
00:16:12I think he can get to the front and win this race today.
00:16:15Wow.

00:16:16For Keselowski, it's been two years since he's led this many laps.
00:16:20No stage two winner this year has gone on to win this race.

00:17:45I think he was just trying to help the six car, Brad Kozlowski,
00:17:48but had a heck of a run and put himself in a hole that was pretty small to fit into.

00:18:02And that's the thing that you never know.

00:18:11Now that Briscoe has had a run closer to the front of the pack,
00:18:14they've been able to make an adjustment, and he's gone.

00:18:24They have not had the results this season so far for the speed that they have shown.

00:24:34See, he came around Briscoe and had to be way out of round in his box, got him pointed wrong.
00:24:41That's going to lead to a slower stop, even lose more spots.
00:24:45Going to need to get back in front of Briscoe in that 19 car, Kevin.
00:24:48Yeah, well, he's going to have a hard time winning this race if he doesn't get to pit with the
00:24:52track position in front of Briscoe.
00:24:56Now, we talked a couple of weeks ago about cool suits and the issues.
00:25:00Here is Tyler Reddick trying to purge the fluid out of his cool suit.
00:25:05Yeah, he's basically going to try to get all the water that is in that vest that he has on
00:25:12underneath his suit out,
00:25:13because that water is getting hot, and you can tell that they don't have any way to cool this thing
00:25:25down because of the battery.
00:25:27They can't run the machine, so you've got to get the water out of it,
00:25:29because if you don't, it just sits inside that cool suit and gets hot.
00:25:32So he's actually using that CO2 cartridge to suck all the water out of that suit and get it off
00:25:37of him.
00:25:38And he just put a bag of ice in place of it.
00:25:43Let's take a look at stage points earned today.
00:25:45Brad Kozlowski maxed it out, winning stage one and stage two.
00:25:50Reddick, Buescher, Larson, Blaney all capitalizing.

00:26:1110 oval tracks in operation in this state.
00:26:15But one that is not is in jeopardy.
00:26:17We lost Myrtle Beach Speedway not long ago, and Greenville Pickens Speedway,
00:26:21the developers, I mean, they are closing in,
00:26:25and council meetings and county and city council, folks want to save Greenville Pickens Speedway.
00:26:31You need to get involved, and you need to go to these government meetings because racetracks don't vote.
00:26:36If you're going to save the sight of the first live televised NASCAR race in full, you need to help
00:26:43out.
00:26:44All right, Chase Briscoe's radio.

00:27:29Those guys in the front that didn't pit, they want Briscoe to get held up as long as possible.
00:27:33They do not want to see those new tires break free any sooner than they can.

00:27:47And they're doing a great job of holding the cars up.

00:30:36car has been so fast.
00:30:37He's just not made it all the way to the front to have clean air yet.
00:30:40Well, yeah, I mean, right there at the end of stage two, he drove straight to his teammate Kozlowski didn't
00:30:46get him passed.
00:30:47But in my opinion, it was probably the better RFK car at the time.

00:44:08cross overlap 240 that's when it maybe opens up thanks larry now hosabar had a move on suarez it
00:44:15did not pay off and now he surrendered a spot to blaney tries to come right back both of those
00:44:22cars are absolutely flying though the hurricane on his way to the front for seven hosabar had worked
00:44:29his way all the way up to the sevens bumper but now you're starting to see him fade a little

00:45:34three weeks we're continuing to do that they finish top five you see that slide right there on the bottom
00:45:39of your screen but they've been in the top five and in the hunt and they're looking to come in
00:45:44here in the
00:45:44next five to eight laps yeah and this strategy's actually worked out pretty good uh for for ty gibbs to
00:45:51be able
00:45:51to gain a couple spots uh chris busher it's worked out the best for daniel suarez has managed it and
00:45:58i
00:45:58think right now those guys got themselves good enough track position and got spread out that they didn't get
00:46:03swallowed up by the by the rest of the field like austin dylan did and now blaney's come alive he
00:46:08went
00:46:08past hosavar and now has passed suarez to move up to sixth
00:46:21during pre-race brian blaney talked about uh having to run through the field like this
00:46:28i hope to not pass as many as i did at phoenix today yeah but if it's the same end
00:46:32result then i'll take it
00:46:36well he's passed 15 cars since the restart he restarted 21st he's sixth and i asked him on that
00:46:43pre-race you're the best pastor in the business in the cup series of nascar how do you do it
00:46:48he does it every week well and the other thing he did today really well was handle the radio correctly
00:46:55and and he was calm cool and collected because it only happened once here today it happened twice
00:47:00at phoenix and he kind of he kind of got wound up but he's done a great job of handling
00:47:05it today
00:47:06all right here's the reverse of the situation at the end of stage two
00:47:10yeah busher held station and didn't pass his boss now it's reversed exactly right and just like the
00:47:17end of that state now we have starting to see people hit pit road this is going to put pressure
00:47:21on
00:47:21these leaders what do they do here cassie adjustment there for kyle larson well it's going to put pressure
00:47:28on these leaders but the biggest thing that they need to do right here is not pit when the car
00:47:32that's
00:47:32pitted in front of them pits because of the the problems that it has caused both of these guys all
00:47:37day need a clean pit stall but all these guys starting to pit now is going to put a lot
00:47:42of pressure on
00:47:42these leaders and brisco blaney those are the guys going to put pressure on him as brad looks at the
00:47:46inside i look for the it probably won't happen many more laps before you see those leaders pit larry
00:47:53yeah you can't be far behind them this is what happened the last set of green flag pit stops when
00:47:57hamlet came the all came oh busher's wrecking right there tyler reddick he was coming to the pit road
00:48:03and tyler reddick got into the back of him and turned him around still green still green big trouble
00:48:09he hit the wall hard
00:48:16green flag stops continue byron blaney elliott
00:48:27and chris busher who looked like he might have been on his way to victory here
00:48:32now has got to recover and that's how fast it can change mike just a simple i don't know if
00:48:38his hand
00:48:38was out the window or what happened what the communication was between the spotters but 45 had
00:48:43no idea that that 17 was coming to pit road and ran all over him
00:48:48no caution flag and busher finally makes it to pit road
00:48:58Kozlowski in the pit lane along with busher regan
00:49:02like that six car was contemplating coming to pit road on the lap on chris busher
00:49:06almost got spun out there and ended up tagging the wall as for his car keep in mind on this
00:49:11next run he's
00:49:11been very loose when we've had green flag pit stops after the cycle so we'll have to see what it

00:51:09able to run some laps just as fast as he can go because that's that's what you want to do

00:51:15to take advantage of those new tires to get the laps to be as fast as possible early on in
00:51:19the run and i
00:51:20want to brag on brad he took that car he was mired back in traffic and absolutely drove straight through
00:51:27the
00:51:28field charged to the front on that restart and there he is you see him easily take the lead back
00:51:36but that job he did on that last restart to start the third stage was impressive
00:51:41and put him in a situation where he can get back to win in this race
00:51:45so carson host of our pits that leaves just mcdowell and gilliland
00:51:49on the racetrack and mcdowell is in the pit lane now
00:51:55so we'll cycle back through and look at chris busher who got uh got roughed up there
00:52:01instead of contending for the lead busher's back in eighth place yeah and you see right up top right
00:52:06here you see the the six in the 45 right now brad's got himself a straightaway lead on the fastest

00:52:38there that's a little better shot it doesn't look like it buckled anything up around the louvers

00:55:39well we saw hardy hit it in qualifying going for the pole and just absolutely smoked him in in quality
00:55:44qualifying and i think right now it's he knows he's behind so he's willing to take more risk and
00:55:49get up there against the wall where he can gain that speed that that he needs so well he has

00:55:55advantage there's no question now that we're we're on the other side of of the pit stop you have a
00:56:00little
00:56:00bit of advantage here but it's still 39 laps to go got to do some tire managing still
00:56:07and how much does that right now it's you know it's that lap even hitting the wall it was four
00:56:13tenths but how much does that even out at the end of the run but right now he's he just
00:56:17gained another
00:56:18six tenths of a second on on on brad so briscoe is one and a half back one and a
00:56:23half seconds reddick
00:56:25two point eight seconds back tie gives six point oh ryan blaney six and a half then chris busher
00:56:31right on his bumper along with austin syndrick william byron nine seconds back larson and jones
00:56:37eleven seconds back that is your top ten blaney has done a fabulous job of getting himself back
00:56:44established with the front runners of this race he's been all over the place today
00:56:53doing ryan blaney things isn't he kevin passing cars every week it's it's the same thing and and
00:57:00ultimately this is just a day where you can't go to the back you can't go to the back one

00:57:05make it all the way back to the front when you have a decent car tyler reddick has a spectacular

00:57:11was able to get himself back up to the front of the field but ryan blaney as he does week
