00:01And really he's had a great approach this week and he kind of laughed it at Tyler Reddick's qualifying lap.
00:07He's like yeah that's just Reddick doing Reddick things and I think his his approach was not far off and
00:14still conservative to not hit the wall.
00:17Reddick was going for broke and he didn't care if he hit the wall and actually did hit the wall
00:20in qualifying.
00:22So Bubba's doing a nice job.
00:23You talk about an approach and talk about Bubba.
00:26But he has been squeaky clean just not making mistakes and being quiet on that racetrack and that's what it
00:33takes.
00:33Kyle Larson in fourth is the first Chevrolet in the race.
00:37Larson running right where he started after this first round of pit stops the September 23 winner here.
00:45Yeah and I can't believe that we're talking about the race streak that Larson has of losing.
00:50But it's very interesting to listen to Tyler Reddick talk about how hot he is inside the car.
00:56We hear Larry talking about fuel strategy.
00:59We know he's got to alternate or issue but he's still got a really really fast car and keeps making
01:05that time up and making his way forward.
01:07So Reddick's still in this thing just got to keep the car together and get those those stops to be
01:12clean on pit road.
01:13And sixth for RFK Chris Buescher the grinder top tens in five of the last six races here Josh.
01:20Well yes and this has been a very good track for Chris Buescher and I talked to Scott Graves as
01:24crew chief earlier today.
01:26Told me they unloaded yesterday where they expected to be.
01:29Felt good about where they got to the car at the end of the day.
01:31Today came over the radio during that first portion of the race.
01:34Said the car was a little tight but he felt good about the bounce overall.
01:38They told him you're doing a great job just keep holding serve to be able to hold his spot in
01:42the top ten so far today.
01:44So two of the Penske Fords in the top ten including Austin Sendrick Blaney in second.
01:53Sendrick now in seventh.
01:54The one interesting thing I will say as we look at Austin Sendrick right here having a nice day running
01:59seventh.
02:00The Fords are typically tight.
02:02They typically have a tighter balance in traffic just in general.
02:06And I think with everything that we're talking about with the rear of the cars not being where they need
02:11to be for all these guys.
02:12I think that their their natural balance of the Ford kind of leans it leans towards what this package is
02:19as far as being too loose in the back from a balance standpoint.
02:24Here's Chase Elliott in eighth.
02:27He started third his best qualifying effort ever here.
02:30Well we know Chase Elliott does a nice job all day of just keeping himself in the game.
02:35He was very happy with his car from practice section mentioned how well it drive what was driving.
02:41And when when the driver is comfortable that usually goes a long way in the confidence category but hasn't got
02:47off on the on the right foot to start the race lost a few spots.
02:51But just keep yourself in the game don't get up against the wall don't make any mistakes until we get
02:56to the end of this thing.
02:57And that's exactly what you're seeing with his teammate riding right there.
03:00I think you're right when you talk about a new package you look at simulation everybody's kind of running around
03:06the same time is what I mean by that organizationally you see all those Gibbs cars running together.
03:11You see William Byron and his teammate Elliott right here a lot of figuring out a lot of sorting out
03:17as we're learning the balance of these race cars in particularly these Chevrolets with a new body.
03:21Myron won this race three years ago right behind him another Chevrolet this would be Daniel Suarez who started 11th
03:29Regan.
03:30Well Mike Daniel Suarez continues to have a good start to his tenure with Spire Motorsports.
03:35He and crew chief Brian Sparks working very good together good chemistry good communication.
03:39As for the race car right now started the race on the tight side continues to be just a little
03:43too tight for him in turns three and four.
03:45I mean those front tires not working quite as good as he'd like Jamie a little further back in the
03:51field all the Gibbs cars racing around each other Christopher Bell in the 20 just not where he wants to
03:57be right now and it all started with the way they unloaded yesterday I talked to Adam Stevens this morning
04:01and he said they were just off just way too tight.
04:05They weren't able to move the needle too much and he said it's hard to get confidence in a race
04:10car on such a high degradation race track they knew they were going to be up against it today he's
04:16one of those drivers that hit it on the earlier side lap 39.
04:24Back to the front and Brad Keselowski who's now been out front at Darlington for the last 31 laps.
04:39How fast could a stock car go born from bootleggers built by rule breakers we don't ask permission we don't
04:48seek approval we just are the most relentless unpretentious athletes on the planet chasing glory and 200 miles per hour
04:56defiantly unapologetic authentically NASCAR.
05:10Here's what we'll say about the road to greatness.
05:13Here's what we'll say about the road to greatness.
05:13The name Ford is synonymous with desert racing.
05:17You gotta keep pushing the desert's not gonna let up.
05:20It sure isn't paved.
05:23It's a challenge just to finish.
05:39Arby's meat in three box includes your choice of classic roast beef or crispy chicken and now you can also
05:46get the big crispy fish sandwich.
05:48So get your choice of meat and three sides all for just $7.99.
05:52Arby's we have the meat.

06:08And the free return label says I'm going places.

06:27To avoid going in circles, make note of recognizable landmarks.
06:31Like that.
06:32What's wrong with going in circles?
06:35Different circles, Ross.
06:36Okay.
06:37Head for the mountains.
06:40Street football is bad.
06:42Let's go!
06:43It's the UFL kickoff on Fox.
06:46Here we go.
06:47Friday, it starts with a bang.
06:49As the perennial powerhouse Birmingham Stallions
06:52Touchdown!
06:54Take on the newcomer Louisville Kings.
06:56With new teams and new rules.
06:59The UFL is a testing lab for the future of football.
07:01This is Football Reimagined.
07:03The UFL kickoff begins Friday and continues Saturday and Sunday on Fox and ESPN.
07:17Since 1950, they've raced at Darlington Raceway.
07:20The fans love to come here, show off their throwback gear.
07:25Meet up with some of the NASCAR alumni that are here for this weekend.
07:30And watch Brad Keselowski holding court here.
07:33He has led the last 37 laps and holds a two-second lead over Ryan Blaney.
07:40Let's pick up at 11th place.
07:42This would be Ryan Priest, the third of the RFK cars.
07:45They all started well.
07:46They're all running well.
07:47Yeah, he was miserable yesterday, wanted to drive his car backwards.
07:50He said it felt like he needed the back to do what the front, in the front, in the front,
07:55to do what the back was doing.
07:56So definitely was a long practice day for Ryan Priest.
08:00But as they normally do, they just figure it out and get themselves in contention here in 11th.
08:05And right with him is Riley Herbst having a really good day.
08:09Riley's done a great job.
08:10We talked so much about the 2311 cars, but Riley in his second year now coming to one of the
08:17toughest racetracks that we go to.
08:19But taking advantage of his teammates and his organization's speed today with a solid run so far.
08:26Denny Hamlin, last week's winner, started ninth and here he is in 13th.
08:30Well, exactly what we expect, to have him working himself forward in this field.
08:35We see his lap times right now way better than the cars behind him or in front of him.
08:40So see him right up against the wall right there, Clint.
08:42Using it all.
08:43Still got a handful, even though his car's fast.
08:46Now right behind him is Chase Briscoe.
08:48And Briscoe has picked up nine positions since the green flag.
08:52Regan?
08:53Well, Mike, that's exactly on pace with where crew chief James Small told me he thought they would be.
08:58He said, I don't think we're going to storm our way to the front, but if we can get four
09:02or five spots each time we put a set of tires on each run of the race, that's exactly what
09:06we need to do today.
09:07As for the race car, Chase started this run off just a little bit too tight, but it's all already
09:11migrated freer this run than it did the previous run.
09:14That's exactly right.
09:14That's exactly right.
09:16Fifteenth is Eric Jones, a two-time Darlington winner in that nice Richard Petty or Wally Donlebeck driving for Richard
09:23Petty paint scheme.
09:24That's pretty sharp.
09:25That's the Advent Health onboard camera riding with Eric Jones today.
09:29Eric has just done a great job here.
09:30Every time he's ever been here, we mention his name and talk about how well he does here.
09:35He's won races here.
09:36So great racetrack for Eric Jones.
09:40Christopher Bell.
09:44Or excuse me, Ty Gibbs running in 16th just ahead of Christopher Bell.
09:48Gibbs started 26th.
09:50He is plus 10.
09:52Christopher Bell started 20th.
09:54He's plus three.
09:55I'm scratching my head a little bit with the Gibbs cars and I'm going to take you to Bell next
09:59like you were talking about.
10:01All of them running right there together, but not.
10:04You talk about a bingo card, Kevin.
10:06Not really on my bingo card where they're running so far.
10:09Needing some adjustments.
10:10Caution's coming.
10:11We know the stage in.
10:13Probably going to hear some adjustments coming out of the Gibbs camp.
10:16Three to go in the stage.
10:17And Brad Keselowski, who had earned a total of just two stage points so far this season, is out front.
10:26And what a turnaround because Ford's did not lead a single lap here last Labor Day.
10:32Well, it's exactly what we talked about.
10:35He just needed to qualify better.
10:37Even last week at Las Vegas, he was able to work himself towards the front of the field by the
10:41end of the race.
10:41But it took all day.
10:42And those stage points reflect exactly what you just said.
10:46When you don't qualify good, you don't get stage points.
10:49And that's what they needed to do better.
10:51But even then, he's kept himself up in the points.
10:53And right now, he would sit fifth in the points if it ended.
10:56That's exactly right.
10:57I just looked over.
10:58Fifth in points with the sixth guard, Brad Keselowski.
11:01Much better start to this season than we had last year.
11:03And his last lap was as fast as anybody on the track with the exception of Tyler Reddick.
11:10Cedric and Elliott, seventh place, being battled here.
11:14Byron holds down the last point-paying spot as we come to the end of the stage.
11:19Nineteen cars on the lead lap.
11:21Well, as Brad comes to the last lap of the stage,
11:25how was right there?
11:26He's going to fight for his life to try to keep himself on the lead lap.
11:29And Tyler Reddick making up ground.
11:31Don't forget, he's got a lot fresher tires than these guys.
11:34But what a great first stage for Brad.
11:36That's an eighth place starting position for Bush that he's fixing to go a lap down.
11:40Hard to believe.
11:40Short, not much time here in a stage one.
11:43Here they come to the line.
11:45And Kyle Busch is going to stay on the lead lap.
11:49Brad Keselowski wins the stage.
11:54Second stage win at Darlington for Brad, who's a two-time winner here.
12:02What a nice rebound from last week for stage winner Brad Keselowski.
12:10Yeah, I used to always tell my guys, evolve or die.
12:13And, you know, in racing, you have to evolve or you do die and you get left behind.
12:19I got my mind right.
12:21It was almost refreshing to have to learn something different.
12:23I knew how to do everything else with the old car.
12:26I didn't need to practice.
12:27I didn't need to go to the simulator.
12:29I could tell you what you needed to do in about two laps.
12:31And, you know, when it changed, I had to decide, do I want to keep doing this and be a
12:37part of this process?
12:38Or do I want to just go on into the sunset and do something different?
12:44It's the all-new Fox Sports digital show, Speed, with Harvick and Buxton, fueled by Poet.
12:50Subscribe to Speed on Fox on YouTube, the Fox Sports app, or wherever you get your podcasts.
12:57Jamie.
12:58Well, Mike, Ty Gibbs has been on a hot streak.
13:01Three straight top five finishes coming into Darlington.
13:03And a big part of that success, of course, are these guys, the pit crew that includes his own cousin.
13:09Let's meet Team 54.
13:14Jackson Gibbs, front tire changer, Ambassador Christian, football coach.
13:19Go Lions.
13:20Daniel Smith, rear changer, 60-plus cup wins and two championships.
13:24Nate McBeth, tire carrier, former linebacker at Holy Cross.
13:28Braxton Brannan, Jackman, Mooresville, North Carolina.
13:31I love my family.
13:33Ian Anderson, fueler.
13:34I'm a former offensive lineman at Ball State University.
13:36This is my 10th year in the sport.
13:39Good.
13:45Came to pit road as soon as the field was lined up behind the pace car.
13:48The pits are not opened yet for the end of stage one, but that voltage problem is what they're working
13:53on here.
13:55They lifted the hood, checked and made sure that the belt that drives the alternator was in good shape.
14:02It turned out it was.
14:03You'll see a thumbs up.
14:04And so now they're going to change and put a larger battery in the car than the one that was
14:10in it.
14:10There is the change being made from the right side window.
14:14Redick is now back in the pits.
14:17Well, they've got a fast enough car.
14:18If they can just make it survive to the end, they can get themselves back up through the pack.
14:23Right now there's 20 cars on the lead lap.
14:28Did you see that was a much bigger battery, the one they put in and the one they took out.
14:32A lot bigger, Larry.
14:34Yeah.
14:34And again, to Mike's point, they made sure the alternator belt had not come off.
14:38I wasn't sure about this strategy, but I think Kevin made a great point.
14:41Only 20 drivers on the lead lap.
14:44Let's do it early.
14:45Let's get it behind us because, to your point, we've got a fast race car.
14:49But remember, the Gen 7 car, the battery's over there inside the car beside the drive shaft tunnel.
14:55No longer is it in front of, you know, in front of the left rear tire.
14:57We have to take the tire and wheel off and everything.
15:00Well, I don't know what's going on there, but I know size matters.
15:03And that second battery was a lot bigger.
15:04I'd say I'm more comfortable with that one making it to the end.
15:09Here are the pit crew rankings coming into Darlington.
15:12A combination of factors.
15:15With Christopher Bell's team up top.
15:18Now, look at second and third there because that's going to be interesting on pit road.
15:23Chase Elliott and Chase Briscoe both lost their pit selection because of failing inspection twice.
15:30So they've had to take last whatever was left in the pits,
15:34and they're going to be side by side in the midst of a lot of traffic there.
15:40Jamie.
15:41And Ty Gibbs, who just met his pit crew, looked like a good stop from here.
15:45Just too tight.
15:45He touched the wall.
15:46He wants to be tightened up at one end and loosened up at the other end.
15:50You hear that so often, Josh.
15:51For Chase Elliott, he said it turned better during that last run,
15:54but still the car lazy up front, having to compensate too much in the back.
15:58That second-ranked pit crew went to work to fix him up, Regan.
16:01Brad Katzlowski spent most of that run just protecting tires in particular right front.
16:07Hey, guys, look at Blaney.
16:08He's got trouble.
16:09Yeah, he had to stop in another pit to get it lug tight.
16:12Sure did.
16:13He was going to win the battle off pit road and had to stop to get that lug tight.
16:16And I'm glad you said that because our leader, Katzlowski, had trouble.
16:19Also, Kyle Busch is still on pit road.
16:22They're looking at something on the left front corner of his Chevrolet.
16:26Kyle Larson beats Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski off pit road in the first caution flag stop of the day.
16:39Live at Darlington Raceway, time for a race break with Jamie McMurray, Chris Myers, and Brad Keselowski
16:46trying to end that 64-race winless streak.
16:49Remember, he broke his femur back in December, largest bone of the human body.
16:55He's run every race this year.
16:56He's finished on the lead lap for every race this year.
17:00And we're in turn four.
17:01It's a great view with these race rack fans to see around.
17:05By the way, we're dressed like a couple of lost accountants.
17:08But it's 88 degrees and it feels like 105 or a lot more.
17:12And how about the guy who sat on the pole is sitting in a hot car right now?
17:16Yeah, super sympathetic to Tyler Reddick who hasn't run the air conditioning or any cooling the entire race.
17:20They did put a bigger battery in.
17:21Hopefully he recovered, but most likely not going to be able to cool down his car.
17:25It's going to be a tough day for him.
17:26Has the fastest car.
17:28And Ryan Blaney is the other one.
17:29Listen, you think about the issues the 12 car had on pit road at Phoenix twice.
17:32They had to come back in.
17:34But we mentioned in the pre-race show, Chris, how good he was at passing cars.
17:38We're going to see if he can do that again right now.
17:39As good as he's been, 0 for 18 in his career.
17:42And I have this sign here about fans.
17:44It's just amazing to me, Mike, this little town in South Carolina, which has a population Darlington of 6,000.
17:50But on race day, they get as many as 60,000 and fans from all over all 50 states.
17:55We had North Dakota, New York, Maryland, and from 15 different countries that come to cheer on their favorite drivers.
18:01It's awesome here, Chris.
18:03The town really embraces the racetrack and has here since 1950.
18:10Well, a couple issues on pit road.
18:14Ryan Blaney, whose pit crew is ranked 33rd of 36 full time teams, is fine on the right side.
18:23But on the left side, they've got a loose lug nut.
18:27So Blaney will leave his pit since the issue and pull into another pit down the road to get that
18:35tightened,
18:35which will give him a restart at the back of the line.
18:39And that's the third loose wheel that loose wheel that he's had in the last two weeks.
18:45He's got to get tired of that.
18:46And you see him pulled into another stall right here.
18:51His teammate Austin syndic as soon as he left.
18:54Alright, I'm going to pull in guys bailing me out again.
18:56Thank goodness for teammates.
19:07What do you think his radio is saying right now?
19:09I don't know any any reason that he shouldn't be having a major meltdown.
19:15So let's let's see if we have something here.
19:20Come on, guys.
19:21We got to be cleaner than that.
19:23We just cannot do this.
19:24We've got to clean it up.
19:26We cannot afford to make mistakes like this.
19:29Yes, sir.
19:31Blaney will restart 20th.
19:32Now, Bubba Wallace also had trouble on his pit stop.
19:37And this is watch the left front here.
19:42Where the stops done the jack.
19:44Whoa, whoa, whoa.
19:44We're not tight.
19:45Yeah, you see that carrier right there like hanging on for dear life trying to tell him that, hey, you
19:50got it.
19:50You got to stop.
19:51Do not take off.
19:52They did not want that wheel to come off on on the racetrack.
19:54But he did a good job of being very affirmative.
19:57Very direct.
19:58Stop, stop, stop and got in the way.
19:59Got in that windshield and got the driver stopped.
20:04So three of the top four at the end of stage one will restart in back.
20:08Twenty one lead lap cars.
20:10Micah McDowell got the free pass.
20:12He also got nabbed for speeding on pit road.
20:15Well, he's in the back anyways.
20:16Well, those guys in the that had that trouble are going to have to start in the very back.
20:20So double bad for them as far as track position goes.
20:23Larson, Buescher, Kozlowski, Elliott lead them off into turn one.
20:29Guys, we talked about not making mistakes and everything that we have seen happen.
20:3545, 23, 12, all the cars that we've been talking about.
20:40I mean, Kyle Larson is in the front of this race and we know how dangerous Kyle can be at
20:44this particular racetrack.
20:46But they have put themselves in a position to be the leader in that.
20:49But that's what you have to do here at Darlington.
20:51Keep yourself in the game.
20:53He who makes the least amount of mistakes is going to have a chance to win.
20:57A lot of new faces in the top ten now.
20:59Sendrick Suarez, Priest, Briscoe.
21:12Looks like you don't want to stay double file here any longer than you absolutely have to.
21:17How about.
21:17Yeah, you see three wide right there.
21:20Ty Gibbs and Ross Chastain and Eric Jones down there on the bottom.
21:23You see that one car get loose.
21:25Momentum of the 54 is going to take them by both.
21:27But you want to run as high as much as you can.
21:30Every time you run low, it is going to take some life out of those tires.
21:33You got to do what you got to do on these restarts to gain the track position and pass when
21:37you need to.
21:38But it definitely doesn't help.
21:39Oh, not clear.
21:40Yeah, he was not clear right there and Ross Chastain cut him no slack.
21:44Fight for 12th place here.
21:46That was a wreck that didn't happen.
21:48So close.
21:52Now Bubba Wallace with that issue on pit road because they backed up and tightened the nut in the pit
21:57stall.
21:58No penalty.
21:59He was allowed to restart there in 16th instead of having to go all the way to the back.
22:03Here's his radio.
22:05Sorry.
22:07They're tight.
22:08They're tight there.
22:09We'll reset here.
22:10Yeah.
22:11Give me about the last.
22:12You all can the car, but we're in the worst air we're ever going to have.
22:17So the car is not good for that.
22:21Yeah.
22:22And in that situation, they actually checked the lug nut and everything was tight.
22:26So they had kind of misread that scenario.
22:29And look, guys, from a from a driver standpoint, when you're when you're up in the in leading the race
22:35or in those top three to five positions and you have that track position and something like that like that
22:40happens on pit road and you get in the middle of this pack.
22:43This is one of the worst places to be in the middle of the pack with the with the traffic
22:46and how this car acts in dirty air.
22:51Well, nobody's in more dirty air than Tyler Reddick.
22:53He's having to come from the trunk.
22:55He is his way back.
22:57And Mike, I'm glad you said that.
22:58What a harness ness in front of him.
23:00Hose of our Kyle Busch and Zane Smith off of two hosts of our insane Smith.
23:06Man, it was so close right in the front windshield of Tyler Reddick.
23:12And that's the risk when you get put to the back of the pack and, you know, you get all
23:17these restarts and things that can happen so fast here at Darlington.
23:21And just your your risk level goes up of getting your car torn up.
23:24But they I still think they made the right call getting a fresh battery in there, put a bigger bigger
23:29battery in there.
23:30You got to get this things this car across the next 200 laps.
23:34He still got the fastest car without a doubt.
23:37Now, Reddick was 33rd after the choose Blaney was 34th on the restart.
23:42Now that's because they had to start behind the lapped cars.
23:46They're 19th and 20th with 21 cars on the lead lap.
23:50Watching from the Xfinity cam on board Reddick.
23:53Good time for the Xfinity fastest lap of the race, which would be Bubba Wallace.
23:58And he did that back on lap two.
24:13Sierra leader Kyle Larson right there, Brad Kozlowski running him down.
24:17You know, I think that the big question for Brad is going to be, OK, how does my car handle
24:22when I'm when I'm behind Kyle Larson?
24:24We think that Brad's car is better on the long run than Kyle Larson's when he's leading.
24:31How is it when he's behind Kyle Larson running second?
24:35So, Larry?
24:36Yeah, we know there were a lot of issues in pit road, but how did we end up with the
24:39top three that we've got right now?
24:42Kyle Larson, his pit stop was 10 seconds flat.
24:45Brad Kozlowski, 11-8.
24:47That's how he lost the lead.
24:48But I want to give a shout out to that 17 pit crew.
24:51You talked about it in the pit crew rankings, 9.3.
24:55Wow.
24:55Ranked third overall after five races this year.
25:00Well, he got a break.
25:01Now, he did not get to pick his pit.
25:04But the pit that was assigned to him was right in front of Timmy Hill's pit.
25:09And Timmy Hill is the first car out of the race.
25:12So he's got an empty stall there to pull in.
25:14His saving grace is actually that Joey Logano is a lap down in front of Chase Elliott.
25:18And Chase Elliott can drive deep into his box and give him room to get out.
25:22So still not ideal, but it worked out probably best case scenario.
25:31Coming to complete 20 laps in stage number two.
25:35Kyle Larson Chevy ahead of Brad Kozlowski's Ford.
25:48So good.
25:49Gross.
25:50Jesse, you remember Danny?
25:52Hey.
25:53Hey.
25:56Nice fit, bro.
25:58Thanks.
26:01Here we go.
26:02How are you doing that?
26:0610 years later?
26:08Uh!
26:10Four parks.
26:11One vacation that changes everything.
26:15Universal Orlando Resort
26:18Movies?
26:19No.
26:19Fairs will?
26:20No.
26:22Dollar a day?
26:24David Luster...
26:26What's the fun?
26:27Hey!
26:28What's the fun?
26:28I'm about to smoke you like a ham.
26:42We need that unlimited play for just a dollar a day only at Dave and Buster's
27:01America's the greatest land of all. So make it take today to see the USA and see it in your
27:10Chevrolet.
27:20Well we're under caution. Denny Hamlin, Eric Jones, Bubba Wallace was right there. It happened
27:27entering turn three. Eric Jones on the right is already sideways and watch Denny moves up.
27:34His driver, Bubba, hits the wall. That's why you can't make mistakes, Kevin. Happens so many times
27:39in this sport. You get behind, you get caught up in a wreck. Bubba Wallace on pit road. Eric Jones
27:44around. Denny in the wall pretty hard as well. Yeah and for Denny, he got the right rear first
27:49and it slapped that right front. We've heard Bubba talk about his steering wheel being off.
27:53So his toe is knocked out. It looked like Denny Hamlin got in there a little hot,
27:56got into the back of the 43 and turned him around.
28:02Pit road is open, Jamie. The five of Kyle Larson comes in from the lead. He has a small vibration
28:09and he had it before the last stop as well. They think it might be brake related, but they said
28:13there's nothing they can do at this point. A four tire stop. Meanwhile, his teammate William Byron,
28:18the car's not responding a lot, but they're okay with it. Not a lot they can do. Good speed in
28:22the 24,
28:23Josh. Well, for the 17 of Chris Buster, you saw how great and quick that stop was last time.
28:28He's been getting the car better and better over the course of this run. Four tires and fuel for the
28:3217, Regan.
28:33Fred Kozlowski did a much nicer job on that previous long run of managing the right side tires.
28:38A little bit less cord showed this time. Obviously a shorter run. They weren't as worried about it.
28:44There's your race off pit road.
28:53Kyle Larson. Chris Buster, Brad Kozlowski. And then Chase Elliott.
28:59Kyle Larson. Chris Buster, Brad Kozlowski.
29:04Oh my God.
29:05Kyle Larson. Chris Buster, Brad Kozlowski.
29:05Oh my God.
29:08Kyle Larson. Chris Buster, Brad Kozlowski.
29:08Oh my God.
29:09Did you see that?
29:10Should we tell them?
29:12So bad.
29:13Oh my gosh.
29:16That's not fun.
29:17I stopped.
29:21Do not listen to that.
29:25Thank you, man.
29:28I know how it feels.
29:35The Bush Guide. Cold and smooth survival skills.
29:38If red touches yellow, it'll kill a fellow. But if blue touches white, it's bush.
29:46Light. Head for the mountains.
29:49We'll come back later.
29:50The three for me, only at Chili's, serves up the big QP for just $10.99.
29:55And that's 85% more beef than some quarter pound burger.
29:58Yeah. Hey, fast food. This is how you value meal.
30:02This Chili's three for me is the best $10.99 you can eat.
30:06To tell you the truth, we could take or leave the extravagance.
30:11The attention, the celebrity, the bragging rights, the bravado.
30:16Because all we've ever really wanted is for every Ford driver to feel this.
30:35You guys, Wendy's has new biggie deals starting at just $4.
30:39So now you can decide how biggie you want to go, which is kind of beautiful.
30:44I'm not condensating. You're condensating.
30:46More biggie options so you can get more of what you really want at Wendy's.
30:50Welcome to the edge of racing, where rookies turn fearless and veterans remember why they started.
30:57It's raw, aggressive, unpredictable.
31:00On Saturday, it's not about the fame.
31:03It's about the fight.
31:06Here, losing hits harder.
31:08And when they win, it's because they risked everything to get there.
31:21Second caution of the day in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington, South Carolina.
31:28Let's go back and have another look at this incident that involved Denny Hamlin, Eric Jones, and Bubba Wallace.
31:35Yeah, and you're going to see why Eric Jones spun out right here shortly.
31:43Oh, did you hear the car almost?
31:46It sounded like it might have gone into neutral right there.
31:49Or shut off.
31:50Yeah, or shut off or something right there.
31:58And then you see the contact behind that with the 11 and 23, so.
32:04Here's what the 11 of Denny Hamlin had to say about it.
32:08I'm sure we got two damage, and the wheels was right.
32:12Well, it showed low, and he went low and checked out.
32:16What the f***?
32:18Yeah, that was just the brake locking up.
32:20That's right.
32:20He was way hard on the brakes trying to keep him running him over, and unfortunately got in the back
32:25of him.
32:26Tore up race car.
32:26All right, Shane Van Gisbergen gets the free pass.
32:29He will restart 20th.
32:34Then, looks like 13 cars took the wave around, including Michael McDowell, who again will restart in the back, too
32:41fast down pit road.
32:43So.
32:45That saved a lot of cars having trouble struggling throughout the day.
32:49That leaves everybody on the lead lap now, except Joey Logano, minus one, and Cody Ware, minus three.
32:58Ready to restart.
32:59Larson and Buescher, who had another great pit stop, Keselowski.
33:04Better start for Keselowski on the bottom this time.
33:11Hard to stay door-to-door with him off a two.
33:17Larson struggled a little bit on the outside.
33:19Here comes two teammates on the inside.
33:23Got him.
33:24Those Fords going right back to the front.
33:26Yeah, and Brad's car is really good, and I think the fact that he can take advantage of getting that
33:32lead back so early in this run
33:34and not have to be in dirty air is key to the success of that six car.
33:39He did a good job on the restart.
33:40Got a good jump with him, was door-to-door with him, pushed Larson a little high on that exit
33:45of two.
33:45You see Larson had to lift, and that was it.
33:53This bunch was three wide off turn two.
33:56Got that sort of settled out before they got to turn three.
34:00Yeah, and this is going to be an interesting run.
34:02I'm curious as to what Larry is thinking right here, but I think all these wave-arounds are banking on
34:07the fact that they can split this thing up into short segments right here and pit early.
34:11So, is that what they're thinking, Larry?
34:14Well, I think the reason they went ahead and rode the dice, Kevin, they only had 11 laps on their
34:18tires.
34:18Don't get me wrong.
34:19That's a lot of laps at Darlington, but I think they felt like a good opportunity.
34:23Yeah, all the leaders, including the wave-around, you're going to have to go 69 laps.
34:27That's a stretch.
34:28You can do it on fuel.
34:30That's a stretch on the tires.
34:31So, if they split it, they would pit about lap 150.
34:35Well, if you make me run 60-something laps, Larry, I'm going to be mad at you.
34:38I won't do that to you.
34:39Thank you, Larry.
34:41So, half the field stopped.
34:42The first 21 cars came in.
34:45The whole rest of the field did not.
34:48So, once this cycles through, get the feeling we're going to be catching lap cars again pretty soon.
34:54Yeah, it's not going to take long, but I think that there is definitely going to be some strategy as
34:58to when you short pit right here to try to protect yourself from going a lap down.
35:02So, you know, even though you have 11 laps on the tires, you're going to be able to keep up
35:07better than if you had 30, 35, 40 laps on the tires.
35:11So, you've got to keep track of the time so that you can take advantage of this shorter run.
35:19You know, we heard Denny Hamlin saying that his car, as Sendrick slips up off the floor, talking about the
35:26toes off and we're struggling here, but the car's still pretty sporty out there.
35:31Think about how many times you wrecked into something and they fixed the fender, or you think back to Atlanta
35:36where the fender flew off a Reddick's car or something gets bent and you come home and you're like,
35:40man, that thing handled pretty good after I wrecked and they checked the toe or something and they're like, yeah,
35:44it was towed out half inch.
35:46Yeah.
35:46Well, that must be pretty good for that tire.
35:48Well, something woke it up.
35:50Hamlin restarted ninth.
35:52He's up to sixth.
35:55Clear, clear, clear, out there.
36:01Tyler Reddick's radio.
36:04The thing that's wrong with the brake pedal, it's really hard.
36:08No, no view.
36:10Pedal not moving, really stiff, locking the left front apart.
36:14Copy that.
36:15Just maybe give it a minute to see if you can cool it back down or go a little rearward
36:19up by it.
36:20And I could tell by his downshift getting into three, Kevin, when he went to downshift, that thing was trying
36:26to wheel hop and get up underneath him.
36:27You could hear it in the driveline.
36:28Ding, ding, ding, ding.
36:29So having trouble getting the 45 car slowed down.
36:33And my question, before they changed that battery, had he cut the brake fans off and maybe overheated the brakes?
36:40Well, let's not forget they've had more brake trouble than just about anybody in the garage.
36:44When we talk about rotors blowing up or pedals feeling weird, that has been one of the downfalls of 2311,
36:52is the brake package and the struggles that they have had with it.
36:58Riley Herbst and Redick running nose to tail there.
37:02Yeah, and let's give another shout out to that 35 car.
37:05He's done a great job today of keeping himself in the game.
37:08But Tyler Redick, I mean, there's not much more that can go wrong for this team with the battery.
37:15You know, now we're talking about the brake pedal.
37:18So it just never happens on a day when the car's running like crap, Clint.
37:25How about RFK?
37:28Roush, Fenway, Sports Group, Keselowski.
37:31Brad's leading.
37:32Bushers in third.
37:34Preece is in fourth.
37:36They had this race circled.
37:38They were going to do it for the Biff.
37:39For Greg Biffle, they salute him with the paint jobs on the cars.
37:42This race has special meaning for them.
37:44And look where they're running.
37:46First, third, and fourth.
37:48Yeah, and we talked about Ryan Preece earlier,
37:50how awful he thought his car was yesterday and wanted to, you know, have major changes.
37:56And that's the group that they are.
37:58I love the camaraderie between this group and how they communicate with each other.
38:02And they just grind away to make their cars better.
38:05And here they are at the front of the pack.
38:12One hundred sixty-eight laps to go in Darlington.
38:15Sixty to go in stage two.
38:17Brad Keselowski out front.
38:26Chevy Trucks are as capable and dependable as the Chevy people who drive them.
38:31You probably know one.
38:32Your sister.
38:34Your buddy.
38:35The ones who always show up.
38:38They all have that little extra.
38:40Something.
38:41And maybe you got it, too.
38:43It's Chevy Truck Month.
38:44Right now, get over $7,300 total value on this 2026 Chevy Silverado.
38:50Plus, Costco executive members can get a $1,250 members-only incentive.
38:58And Doug.
38:59Thank you both for coming in.
39:01I'm a bit worried about Doug Jr.
39:03I know how important Liberty Mutual is to your family.
39:06They customize car insurance to save people hundreds.
39:09Right.
39:10Well, Doug Jr. keeps writing this.
39:13Douglas Jr.
39:17Well, at least he spelled insurance right, right?
39:20He did not.
39:21Only pay for what you need.
39:23Liberty, Liberty, Liberty, Liberty.
39:29How did you do this?
39:32I'll show you.
39:37The whole park now runs off Xfinity.
39:40The network can self-heal, too.
39:42It's pretty cool.
39:42Oh, yeah.
39:44Wow.
39:45Something even smarter than Alan?
39:47I don't think so.
39:48Yeah, he's pretty smart.
39:50Yeah.
39:52A whole new species of Wi-Fi.
39:54At the same price for five years.
40:19Four parks.

40:46Next week, NASCAR heads to the paper glib.
40:49The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series kicks things off in Martinsville on Saturday at 3.30 p.m. Eastern on
40:54the CW, followed by the Cup Series on Sunday at 3.30 p.m. Eastern on FS1.
41:02Hey, the Modified Tour is in action Friday night at Martinsville.
41:05That will be a great show as well.
41:07Here are your lap leaders, sponsored by Liberty Mutual.
41:10Brad's been out in front for 70 laps.
41:12Tyler for 45.
41:14And Kyle Larson for 16.
41:18Brad's led a total of three times for 70 laps.
41:22And now RFK is 1-2-3.
41:26RFK is having a great day here in South Cackalackie.
41:30Tell you who is not, and that is Bubba Wallace.
41:33He got into the wall and turned two a couple laps ago and is kind of nursing that car around
41:38now.
41:39He's now dropped a lap down.
41:44And how about his owner, Denny Hamlin, Josh?
41:46Well, guys, before that last call, Denny Hamlin was struggling with that car.
41:50They were trying to figure out how to get the balance exactly right to help him make up some spots
41:55in the field.
41:56Makes contact with the 43.
41:57Caution comes out.
41:58They come and they work on the car.
41:59Came over the radio and said the car is much better in terms of the balance.
42:03It's very secure on entry.
42:05Still need to work on the middle a little bit tight, but he said this car is much improved.
42:09Funny how you make contact, and the car gets better, guys.
42:13Well, it's a...
42:14It usually doesn't work.
42:16This car is fickle, and I will go back to Tyler Reddick again.
42:19And we've seen him win with no fender on the car at Atlanta.
42:22And sometimes you get in these scenarios where the balance is way different than what it has been.
42:28And I think that's exactly why the Fords are leading the race.
42:32They tend to have a tighter balance, and it's fallen into their wheelhouse this week with the cars being so
42:38loose in the back.
42:39And arrow-wise, they're out of balance with this package.
42:43It's not what you would probably want it to be as far as front-to-rear balance.
42:48So, the front-row starters, Reddick with electrical issues and a long stop in 13th, and Bubba Wallace now one
42:55lap down.
42:56Tough day for Team 23-11.
43:01Well, you know, the Bubba Wallace situation, and Tyler Reddick hasn't been in that situation, but Bubba Wallace, when you
43:08have a bad pit stop, you put yourself in the middle of the pack, you heard him mention it on
43:12the radio, that you just don't want this track position.
43:14And next thing you know, you're in a wreck, and you have those days where the car is running really
43:20good.
43:20You're just up there cruising, have a bad pit stop, crash.
43:23And that's what happened to Bubba.
43:25Here's seventh place changing hands as Chase Briscoe moves up past Chase Elliott.
43:34Yeah, and you see his teammate right there on the bottom, on the inside of Chase Elliott.
43:38Chase Elliott's car has just not got to the point where he wanted it to be today.
43:44After talking about how good it was in practice and thought he was in position to have a good day,
43:48they've just been kind of lingering around the end of that top ten.
43:51Yeah, he's minus four since the restart.
43:57Regan?
43:58Well, Mike, just to update the number 19 to Chase Briscoe, we see that he just made that move for
44:02the seventh position, progressively moving forward as the day has gone on.
44:06The car started off looser earlier, just updated the team a moment ago, and said that this is the tightest
44:11we've been all day long.
44:15A.J. Allmendinger on pit road under green, so is Cody Ware.
44:19Larry, I'm wondering, all of these cars that took the wave around on that last caution, they've got to be
44:24in pit road pretty soon, don't they?
44:25Well, they do, Mike, because we've now run, since the restart, we've run 21 laps.
44:30Remember, they had 11 laps on their tires as we see more of those wave arounds.
44:34So I think they got to the point, we need to just hit pit road and get four fresh tires.
44:39But what's going to be interesting is with our leaders, because we went back racing with 69 laps to go.
44:45If you split that, you're going to run somewhere around 34 to 35 laps, meaning lap 150, which is about
44:5112 laps from now.
44:52You may see some come a little early.
44:54You may see some run a little long.
44:56You may see some run a little long.
45:02Ty Dillon on pit road again.
45:04Scheduled stops for those drivers from 22nd on back that took the wave around.
45:11RFK, 1-2, Kozlowski and Buescher.
45:17The yard looks incredible.
45:19Thanks.
45:20All it took was.
45:29Nope.

46:32Papa John's.
46:32Here's what we'll say about the road to greatness.
46:36The name Ford is synonymous with desert racing.
46:40You gotta keep pushing.
46:42The desert's not gonna let up.
46:43It sure isn't paved.
46:46It's a challenge just to finish.
47:02The three for me, only at Chili's.
47:04Still can't be beat with the big QP, fries, bottonless chips and salsa, and a bottonless drink.
47:09All for just $10.99.
47:10So if you're McDonne with tiny overpriced burgers, just come to Chili's.
47:14This Chili's three for me is the best $10.99 you can eat.
47:17What a day.
47:19Rock and roll, let's go.
47:20Do you want an experience that wakes you up?
47:22A place where you can scream to your heart's delight?
47:25Go ahead.
47:26No one will hear you anyway.
47:28Yeah, let's go, baby.
47:29Here, you don't just watch.
47:31Yeah.
47:31You feel.
47:32Come as you are and have a damn good time.
47:35Who is your daddy?
47:37That rumble you hear.
47:39That growl you feel.
47:41That's us.

48:08Brad Kozlowski, Chris Buescher, RFK Racing Mustangs out in front of the field here.
48:14Denny Hamlin on pit road, first of the leaders to make a stop along with all many of the cars
48:19that took the wave around on that last caution.
48:24Well, they have looked that 11 car up.
48:26He had made up some serious ground there at the end.
48:29So, Denny Hamlin, his team doing a good job putting him in the game.
48:33Here they all come.
48:35Jamie?
48:35Kyle Larson, who led 16 laps earlier, just that vibration is his moment from playing four times here in air
48:42pressure for the five team.
48:44Ryan Preece is in.
48:46So is Chase Briscoe.
48:48I think your leader's going to come.
48:50Daniel Suarez, Chastain, Sindrick.
48:53Add Kozlowski to that.
48:56Dylan, Bell, Byron is done.
48:59Here's Gibbs.
49:01So a lot of these lead lap cars coming.
49:10Regan.
49:11Well, Mike, as soon as that first wave of cars hit pick road, crew chief Jeremy Bones immediately came on
49:16the radio set.
49:17Next time, bye, Brad.
49:18We're going to stop.
49:19That's exactly what they're doing right here.
49:20As for Brad in the car, he has been silent on the radio so much so I had to go
49:24check with the team to make sure I was on the right channel.
49:26He's happy with that six.
49:28All three RFK cars stop on the same lap.
49:31That hands the lead to Chase Elliott.
49:36Well, you know when that driver's happy, he's not talking, so good sign from BK.
49:42Van Gisbergen completes his stop.
49:44Kyle Busch is in.
49:45Joey Logano lap down.
49:46He's in.
49:47It's going to be Riley Herbst.
49:50Eric Jones.
49:51All on pit lane.
49:53Coming off at two, you got your leader, Keselowski, and there's second place, Hamlin.
49:56Here he goes.
50:01Well, that's what you hope for when you pit a couple laps before the leader, and Brad's hoping to cut
50:06it as close as possible and have a little bit of an attire advantage over Denny Hamlin, and he's able
50:12to fend him off right there.
50:13But that's exactly what you wanted to do if you were Denny Hamlin, try to put yourself in front of
50:17as many of these cars as possible.
50:19As you see the 17 now of Chris Buescher working his way to look underneath that 11 car.
50:25Yeah, Hamlin was 5.7 seconds back when this began.
50:28So the first three drivers have not stopped, Elliott, Redick, and Blaney.
50:39And this would fall in right into Larry's strategy as far as wanting to split this stage right in half.
50:44And now you're starting to see, you know, a couple more cars come to pit road.
50:49But Chase Elliott keeps on logging another lap here.
50:56Yeah, that's Redick and Blaney.
51:02So now just Chase Elliott still on the racetrack.
51:06Everybody else has made a stop, Regan.
51:08Well, Mike, as you see Tyler Redick coming down pit road, it's certainly been a very eventful day for this
51:13Team 45.
51:14As for the car right now, it's tight, swing in the back, having some issues through the corners with it.
51:18But he also made point to the crew chief, Billy Scott.
51:21I'm in traffic, and I know that that's a big part of it.
51:24Pulling up with Sunoco race fuel with Poet Zero Carbon Bioethanol.
51:29And that stop's done.
51:32Larry, what's the thinking on the nine, and how long can they stay out there before they lose whatever advantage
51:38they have?
51:38Yeah, I mean, right now, he's basically two seconds a lap off.
51:43I gotta believe, yeah, he's coming to pit road right now.
51:45To me, they ran one lap too far.
51:47But I don't think it could get to pit road because of traffic.
51:52So that extra lap that Chase Elliott ran before making his stop is going to cost him several seconds to
51:59the other leaders once we cycle through.
52:04Josh?
52:05Well, for Chase Elliott, they've been able to get that car to turn better the way he wanted,
52:09but still complaining about the front end of that car and how it's making him overcompensate for the back as
52:14he comes in.
52:14Gets four tires and fuel.
52:19And there goes Kozlowski.
52:23He leads Buescher by a second.
52:25Denny Hamlin by two.
52:27Kyle Larson by almost three.
52:30Yeah, and when he was able to clear Denny Hamlin and not have to sit behind him and worry about
52:36how to get back by,
52:37that just put him right back in control of the race.
52:40And, you know, when a guy like Brad Kozlowski has control of a race and able to dictate the strategy
52:47and wait a couple laps like he did in this scenario, I mean, the confidence level just keeps going up
52:54and up and up for Brad
52:56as you click off these laps.
52:58So Ford won two.
53:00Denny Hamlin's Toyota third.
53:02Kyle Larson's Chevy is fourth.
53:062019 was the last time that Hendrick Motorsports or Chevrolet went this deep into a season without a victory.
53:13They don't have one yet.
53:15Larson's their best shot today.
53:17I mean, we're on this thing.
53:19Smooth.
53:20Focused inside that car.
53:23Interesting.
53:23He's got a clear shield.
53:24You see that eye black, kind of like a football player he has on.
53:27Well, you run the clear shield when you get old, Clint, because you need light.
53:31I've been in this scenario.
53:33When you see people stop running dark shields, that's because we can't see anymore.
53:38So you need all the light that you can get.
53:41But Brad doing a great job.
53:42You see his head almost move inside the helmet right there.
53:45He's actually got his helmet leaning against the headrest, just resting it right against that foam.
53:52Now, Chris Buescher is closing in a few hundredths a lap.
53:56As you see that interval shrink between first and second.
54:00With Denny Hamlin holding station there right at three seconds back in third.
54:06And Kyle Larson getting close to Hamlin for the third spot.

56:35Brad Keselowski continues to lead at Darlington.
56:38Our aerial coverage is brought to you by Goodyear.
56:41Legends aren't born.
56:42They're proven.
56:46Brad's lead is shrinking.
56:48Chris Buescher now within three quarters of a second of Brad.
56:53With Kyle Larson one and a half back and Denny Hamlin two seconds back.
56:57Chase Briscoe has picked up five spots since the last restart.
57:02Four-point-seven back.
57:06Let's go back and take a further look at Brad Keselowski's last stop here.
57:11Yeah, this is the only thing that worries me about this six car.
57:13Can they compete with these guys that they're racing around when the money's on the line for a pit stop?
57:18But if they have the trouble like they did right here, they're not going to maintain that track position at
57:24first, Clint.
57:24A little slow on that right front, exactly where it was.
57:28But again, I agree with you.
57:30You can see how close Buescher got to him, his teammate.
57:33Well, they're 11th in the pit crew ranking.
57:36Ross Chastain had to re-jack up the right side.
57:39He came in 10th but had a 20-second stop.
57:42Just one of many frustrations exhibited by drivers here in the first half of this race.
57:54I don't understand how we can be this far off.
57:57I mean, the balance now is somewhat, like, drivable, but freaking slow as s***.
58:03He should buy 10 on the one car for a spot.
58:06What a s*** gun.
58:08I know, man. I know.
58:10Typical 10.
58:10You s***, so good.
58:11Man, because we're faster.
58:12We're faster.
58:13Sorry.
58:14We're going faster.
58:18It's been quite a day so far, and we still have 131 laps to go.
58:21Oh, you've got to love Darlington.
58:23This place brings out the best, and those drivers behind the wheel, in there frustrated,
58:27the car never drives good, even when it is driving good, and the fall-off and things
58:32that you have to deal with today, they're at a high level, Clint.
58:35Well, even the cars that are driving good, you talk about 23-11 on the front row, both
58:41of them, as soon as the rag fell or having trouble, Reddick's had several problems.
58:47The 23 car got caught up in a wreck, but don't count out 45.
58:51I haven't given up on him yet.
58:54Yeah, that 45 car is still really fast, Clint.
58:57You know, I think they've had to deal with a lot of issues.
59:00We've heard him talking about having to battle his way through traffic,
59:04but I would not sleep on this 45 car still.
59:07He's going to work his way back up into the front.
59:09I hear you, but if it's a problem, he's at it today.
59:14Well, he is plus seven now.
59:16Since the last restart, he is up to tenth.
59:20Yeah, and right now, he's the only one in the 31-second bracket.
59:24So, that thing still has a ton of speed.
59:27And his teammate, Chase Bristow, is now up into the top five.
59:33There's his Toyota onboard camera.
59:38Entering turn three.
59:41Chase Elliott, Michael McDowell for 13th there.
59:45McDowell's had to overcome two speeding penalties.
59:52Well, it's been a pretty interesting day so far.
59:55We've seen cars have trouble.
59:56We've seen, you know, cars.
