00:00the point but and out of a contract and out of a contract but so like top rack the motivation's
00:05at
00:05at maximum because he's coming in here trying to prove a point so it's it's uh and he's just trying
00:12to scalp any of the other yamaha riders and that's a win for him so similarly brad binder's in a
00:18tough
00:18bind at the moment isn't he like okay talk maverick vinales his potential factory contract has been
00:24suspended uh pending everything that's going on with his shoulder but he'll be possibly looking
00:29for a ride at the end of the season if he if he doesn't start to find something here yeah
00:34it's
00:34been a a long time since we've seen brad really get the most out of his package if you compare
00:41him to
00:41pedro and of course that's that's how it is in this paddock and i mean he's a great rider i
00:47mean we're
00:47both i know huge brad binder fans it'd be nice to see him in another manufacturer we talked about that
00:52last night he's been on the ktm since he came into this paddock i i if i was throughout all
00:57the classes
00:57throughout all the classes actually he's been on orange i if i was a a manufacturer i'd be
01:03interested in him because i rate him a lot would he be cheap very i don't mean that in a
01:10no no you
01:11mean that it's it's a good question basically if you're in the sort of position of brad it's been a
01:15factory riding now for quite a few years it's not about earning money it's about getting another
01:20opportunity and proving that you're worth it to to stay in this paddock
01:25you're a good superbike rider by the way as well as in just i was thinking he would if he
01:30didn't get
01:31an opportunity if he does if the music stops and the seats are all full and there aren't any
01:34opportunities to stay i don't even go into motor 2 he would go to world super bikes and
01:40being competitive yeah his brother was doing all right actually he went
01:44daytona in motor america didn't he he was battling up there for the for the podium in his first sort
01:49of
01:49appearance yeah is he doing the full season i think yeah i think i think he's doing the full
01:52season darren binder so top rack razgat liolu out there trying to find a way through it'd be a
02:00i mean if he got through to q2 like he did in brazil that would be huge but i just
02:04can't see it
02:05happening well he's going to throw everything at it we saw him yesterday on the back of marco
02:09besecki and actually through the first sector didn't really lose that much a couple of tens
02:14i'd say but then it's sure when he got onto the straight the middle part of the track he lost
02:17so
02:18much ground it's silver did a nice interview with him before the start of the weekend we'll have that
02:22uh coming up and you know a lot of that is adapting to things but also how he keeps his
02:28motivation highs
02:29you know the seat issue that he's been uh working on getting himself comfortable on the bike and we have
02:35three rounds in and you know it feels like it's it's just not coming easily to him and we're not
02:41surprised are we no no that's a decent time 201.9 to start yeah to get into the top 10
02:50yesterday you
02:50needed 201.5 yeah i'm looking compared to his time from yesterday morning he did a 2023 so that's um
02:59he's
02:59knocked uh 0.4 off and it's it's tricky you can you can't imagine that he was fast into turn
03:05two
03:05all the riders will have seen that in that previous session a lot of riders were crashing in that part
03:10of the track so you you do what's weird as well sometimes you think i'm not going to i'm not
03:15going
03:15to force it into here and you lose the front because you've not loaded the front and so it can
03:19be
03:20slightly counter-intuitive uh john mia hadn't been mentioned this one perhaps uh to go through but the
03:27honda looks like it's working definitely better this weekend for luca marini anyway said with the
03:31standard casing just feels so much so much more like the bike that we developed over winter and
03:36they all did say didn't they mia marini and the honda riders wait till we get away from these these
03:41races yeah wait wait till we get away from that heat treated tire the honda's always struggle with
03:46traction hasn't it so then if you put a tire in that's got maybe a little bit less grip it
03:51uh makes
03:52matters even worse i hope top back something like that i would love top absolutely some performance
04:00if you did but remember you got fabio cuartoraro in this session as well i bet it's one of those
04:04laps
04:05where you always say you want to be sat on the back of it i tell you what he can
04:08ride can top right
04:09i just love watching him he's on the absolute limit he's box office he is a box office rider
04:17i love his personality in the the interview with sylvan he comes across so well
04:26leave it big black lines front and rear it felt like at one point in there but
04:31but his goal obviously is to get through goal number two be top yamaha if he does that
04:38what can anyone say if he's faster than cuartoraro rinz and miller i mean this tracks alex rinz's
04:44track he's one here twice he's amazing obviously cuartoraro i don't need to say any more about him
04:49he's a just an absolute legend and jack miller ain't slow
04:54felt like faint praise after the other two
04:58out of the final corner then four is already improved
05:02a two at one point two ralph fernandez a two at one point six aldegar third so mir it is
05:08who's doing
05:09the early running in this qualifying session what i will say is that that's the second flyer lap now
05:15they've got two minutes to get back into the pits fabio cuartoraro's gone down in the tight section
05:22that's a horrible part that's out of 15 isn't it yeah it's like the corner but is it right at
05:26the apex
05:26here yeah is he gonna usually you lose the front on trail braking in and next day's not done well
05:32what oh
05:33now that is bizarre i'd need to see that again he's lost the front and sort of like tried to
05:40get off
05:40it yeah and then remember peco banaya's crash at the end of last year where he fell off the side
05:44of the
05:45bike similar kind of thing peco did it a few times i said the one in the one in indonesia
05:49i'm still
05:49battled by we thought he ran over a tear off didn't we we were starting to think it looked that
05:53weird
05:57anyway thankfully fabio got got away with that unharmed
06:00yeah extremely easily got caught underneath the bike or anything those strange crashes are the
06:04ones that normally injure you aren't they so he's at the back of the field here fabio cuartoraro
06:10work to be done everyone else still halfway around the racetrack coming back to
06:16get their tires changed as i say it's such a long circuit
06:24time out there's at a premium no one's done massive long runs here you haven't got time
06:33the only uh two minute lap in moto gp now
06:40so cuartoraro back you're going to show him his crash here so it's a horrible corner isn't it it's
06:45this i mean turn 14 doesn't exist almost no and then like i said you're breaking all the way into
06:50the apex
06:52that is a really strange looking one isn't it he was lucky he didn't get caught with it
07:02it was like that with that then that's so why was it weird right so that's the opposite
07:07of a lot of crashes you see a lot of times we see riders crash and they do everything in
07:12their power
07:12to get underneath it to try and save it and he sort of did the opposite he thought i've lost
07:16the
07:17foot i'll just get away from the bike and then he sort of it almost got caught up with it
07:20this will be a good
07:20shot look at top right there front wheel off the ground full commitment through turn 10 the bike's
07:26wallowing through there but he does not back off he just keeps fighting it like i say all action top
07:33rack i can't get enough of him such a challenging part of the circuit that's where mark marquez crashed
07:38out yesterday 120 miles an hour with you i mean they call it the horsepower rodeo it your bike's like
07:43a
07:44bronco underneath you yeah what's this i'm gonna get the back wheel off the ground we've seen mia do
07:49this all this season strong in the braking zones and that's why with the rear tire with the standard
07:55casing on these tires it's gonna help the hondas here because it's a strong part of their
08:00of their motorcycle yeah yeah it's where they gain a bit of ground back where they lose a bit of
08:05acceleration a little bit of traction they can they've got a bike that stops really really well
08:12it's important to this track and that's why they should be strong here because
08:15we've got all these they say it's five first gear corners think of the heavy braking heavy
08:20braking into turn one heavy braking into 11 heavy into 12 heavy into 13 heavy into 15 and heavy into
08:2720 so
08:28if you've got a bike that stops well that's where you that's where you gain and make your lap time
08:34down there with juan mir and santi and andes
08:40got five minutes to go in this session so it's going to be
08:44pretty much one go at this now for the riders still in the pits a lot have gone back out
08:50onto
08:50the track ralph fernandez looks like he's going to be leading the charge
08:57this jack miller heads out
09:02how many grand prix's has jack won is he won about four maybe
09:06motor gp races uh he's won four yeah all right i'm 10 10 grand prix in total four in motor
09:11gp i'm
09:12trying to dig my way out of just giving him a slight insult going and jack miller isn't slow he's
09:15won four
09:16motor gp races the boy can ride a bike can't he rinse has won six
09:23in motor gp that is of course carterara's on 11. so they're all you know more decent riders aren't
09:30they in the yamaha camp
09:35i had a feeling fernandez was going to get through he isn't through yet but that aprilia turns so well
09:42so once you get from turns two to turn to ten i feel like that bike's got an advantage and
09:48then
09:48actually when you look at the track map through 16 17 and 18 is a really long corner i feel
09:54like
09:54if he doesn't get through it's a it's a big so he's dropped the ball he's you have to take
10:00advantage
10:00on tracks where your bike's working really well and his teammate is consistent at the moment isn't
10:05he whereas raul dropped off in brazil nowhere near the rail that we saw in thailand
10:12and so important for him to get through he's running the medium front a new medium front
10:17tire as well in the bike yeah and he's under in that first split as you would expect as we
10:22say
10:23that's where the side to side the s is the snaking part of the racetrack up and over the top
10:28of nine
10:28now watch him through ten handful of throttle didn't he to yeah pile it down the hill there through the
10:35kink and then even dropping it the track drops away here it's still dropping it's dropping away from
10:39all the time through the apex and still into the straight bottoms out here and then you start to
10:44climb up a hill on this straight now yeah the straight that's not a straight yeah and what we
10:48mean by that is it's a roller coaster it rolls beautifully bit beautifully up and down and you
10:53go from one side of the track to the other then back over again to the right hand side in
10:57the braking
10:57zone now so he's still up here this is now where you might expect if the honda it is that
11:02he's battling
11:03or the ducati that he might lose a little bit in this third sector yeah and it's it's that being
11:10aggressive in these braking zones this is where we saw fabio quattro crash braking on angle he just
11:16hangs in first gear all the way through that sector that's why this is one of the slowest average speed
11:21laps that we get in moto gp lots and lots of red indicators on our timing screens fernandez has kept
11:26the advantage just over mia through sector three but look at zarko and look at aldeguer
11:31aldeguer is so impressive missed all the testing this year first time on the bike was last weekend
11:37and was not far off at all if he can get through in this session that's going to help his
11:44races so fernandez goes second so he lost more time in that final sector so fernandez into second place
11:51behind juan mir quattro now having had a spill oh god kind of out of shape didn't it coming out
12:00of
12:00that final corner there for fabio quattro do you remember the yamaha used to have that horrible
12:04problem didn't it on corner exit yeah something's wrong there that uh something's not working properly
12:08zarko just misses out so he's that's him done this is the thing because it's such a long outlap there
12:15we
12:16are aldeguer goes top and that's why fernandez needed to get ahead of mia because as it stands he has
12:21been pushed out of the top two fermin aldeguer standing up to be counted he's going again for a second
12:28attempt
12:34minutes ago in this session lots of riders are gonna have one last go at it
12:41miller and rinse about to come to the line as they get to set off in their final laps top
12:45rack's just
12:46set off on another another lap now zarko's done quattro is done that's all he's getting out of
12:53his bike morbidelli is halfway round and i don't think you'll get another lap in after this one and
13:00i think fernandez is done as well halfway round yeah it's a strange session this one isn't it really but
13:06i think it's been a timing thing yeah we've taken taking flags coming out in 20 seconds yeah and the
13:13likes of ral fernandez they've done brad binder's in the third sector i don't think he's going to get
13:17another lap in it's going to be tight yeah this is a good they're going to be good for diogo
13:22morera this
13:23is going to put him up look at his riding style love it love it it's not the smallest by
13:30any means but
13:31he's got that jorge martin and a bastinini style hasn't it he certainly has tell you what he's going to
13:37close in he's going to get held up a little bit of a little draft over the line behind me
13:43behind morbidelli moreira actually in the end when he comes to the line goes fourth
13:50slow to appear on our timing screen that one he went up to fourth place
13:59the biggest disappointment out there frankie morbidelli yeah on intent yeah and rinse in a
14:06way because he's quite a way off actually he's on a lap now he's on a lap yeah that's why
14:11i didn't say
14:11anything yeah as it stands he's two seconds off but he was yesterday actually prince which is
14:17it is weird because this is the track that it normally really works for him
14:25so for me aldeguerra two minutes point nine you know that matches mark mark is his time from
14:31yesterday pretty much just 500 slower so actually terms of laps done on the racing weekend second
14:37fastest lap of the weekend that one from fermi and is is it going to be one of those uh
14:43situations
14:43where going through q1 just gives you that little bit of feeling in these tricky conditions it's cold
14:48it's blowing a gale as well it is breezy out there not hobbling so much you'll see
14:54did have the crutch with him yesterday uh when uh i saw him but actually typed it to one side
15:00i think it's just there just in case binder eighth quickest yeah top rack impressed just 0.2 off
15:11quarter arrow and obviously fabio had that crash but he's out qualified his teammates and
15:17alex rings
15:20yeah
15:22quattro six zarco fifth more ferreira four for ral fernandez that's got to feel like a bit of a
15:29disappointment hasn't it for for raul yeah that's opportunity miss i mean there's not there's not a
15:33lot in the time he's missed out by what is it is that 18 or eight thousandths of a second
15:40exactly what we
15:41saw here from fabio quattro out of this final corner what goes on here
15:53it's a bit of a strange wobble it's a shades of peko banyaya from last year
16:00just snaking for him out of the final corner yeah but unhappy still is top yamaha though down in 16th
16:10on the grid
16:14for me now is to compose himself and go again
16:20seriously impressive performance from the youngster
16:24the grassini man so with ral fernandez missing out frankie morbidelli missing out it's swan mir
16:30on the factory honda and this youngster who go through into q2
16:38yeah thanks gav uh yeah both of them joining their teammates in q2 i think of everybody there raul is
16:46going to be the most disappointed because he probably would have been expected to put that bike
16:50through yeah 100 especially after the you know the promises that he's shown at the this this start
16:56of season so um yeah they couldn't quite make it count i think joan mir surprised a little bit
17:01everybody there as well a great lap from uh from me and aldo gay as well come still coming back
17:06from
17:06that injury i know he was there in brazil but mr on i mean before brazil he'd not ridden a
17:11moto gp
17:12back since valencia last year he started on all the testing in the winter and they're showing here
17:16they're super strong even in the time attack he can't hardly walk yeah it's raising the bar he's
17:21raising his expectation as well and like you say you know you saw him kind of hobbling into the garage
17:25and
17:26he has been on his crutch all this time but i guess once you get on the bike you know
17:30you don't
17:31need to be able to walk it sounds stupid but it's a different beast isn't it yeah it's not a
17:35running
17:35race and and if it was he'd be in big trouble but when you're on the on the bike after
17:40such a big
17:41injury you know he broke his femur had surgery it was only a couple of months ago and this type
17:47of
17:47injury normally takes a long time to to heal and to get solid so he won't be feeling it but
17:52on the bike
17:52he's still able to move like he wants to and produce the lap times i mean that was a very
17:57very strong
17:58effort from aldergear taking risks as well you know when you got that kind of injury you you do not
18:03want to fall on that and that's the point isn't it really being able to move around on the bike
18:08is one
18:08thing and muscle it around here which is a physical track but you just don't want to come off the
18:13bike
18:13that's that's the thing when you've got an injury like that it's true and as a rider though you you
18:17never think that way actually once you're on the bike you you only think about going fast you never
18:22think of the aftermath if something happens but it's great to see him back and to see him back
18:27on great form and john mir let's just have a little chat about john because he was joining luca in
18:32q2
18:32which you know you've got to try and beat your teammate and he knows that both of them fighting for
18:37positions uh in 2027 aren't they really yeah well luca's been super strong uh yesterday all day long
18:44and uh yeah join me making it count we saw him every time he was on the on the on
18:49the camera he's on
18:51the limit on our honda the bike was shaking and weaving and he's just pushing it forcing it to make
18:57the apexes look at this into turn 10. yeah very very lively and joined me super late on the brakes
19:03making the most of it making it count a great lap time and uh yeah joining his uh his teammate
19:08so a
19:09very well deserved uh place into q2 yeah and uh god i thought the way i thought the wind had
19:14stopped
19:14but it's just it just seemed to have picked up again uh just recently it just seemed to be warming
19:19up a little bit you you get the sense that perhaps the sprint later on this afternoon it will be
19:24a little
19:24bit warmer but in terms of these conditions from what you've seen and who's gone through you know
19:30what do you expect in q2 well that's a that's a tough one it's gonna be tight and it's gonna
19:35be about
19:36who manages to get the feel with this cold the temperatures you're right susie though the sun is
19:42almost like it's almost coming through now yeah yeah it's really trying hard and the forecast actually
19:48is for this afternoon to we're gonna see a little bit of sun so it's gonna get better but right
19:51now
19:52they've got to activate those tires they've got to go out full attack mode with a lot less feeling
19:58a lot less feedback from the front end especially compared to yesterday so they're gonna have to adapt
20:03i still think that the guys that were into q1 will have a little advantage so this is great for
20:08aldeguer and mia yeah yeah exactly uh talking of fermin aldeguer let's go down to the christine
20:12garage then and find out the latest news and what they're thinking for q2 nat
20:19well michaeli fermin working very hard once again then to get into q2 and that we've got different
20:24conditions that medium front for for fermin and for joan may working well in that session
20:29yeah it was a shame to donald entry directly yesterday with fermin but uh yeah it's true that
20:35we we made a good choice with the front tire we managed the medium we know that we we we
20:41managed
20:41well the medium also it's more uh more stable and can we keep doing all the all the session and
20:48i
20:48think that we will continue with the medium a fast crash for alex in that warmer ball hands to the
20:53deck on the bike how easy is there a lot of work to do yeah it's good for the moment
20:58yeah we have
20:59only one bike in the garage but i think that we have to made a hard reset and start to
21:04with a good
21:05mentality with the qualifying thanks michaeli thank you hi guys and we wish them the very best uh with
21:12their qualifying and we're just going to say hello to elder judy hi ciao ciao what fantastic work you've
21:22done oh we're doing a little dance okay thank you um with the beautiful livery for vr 46 yes tell
21:30us
21:30can you talk us through the inspiration a little yes yes i i will try in my with my bad
21:35english uh we
21:37made this kind of job because you know the relation between me valentino and uso they asked me to make
21:43uh a special livery for that race in us and uh the project was to be in new york yeah
21:51to have the
21:52unveiling of that livery and was fantastic so it's a kind of uh uh present i made to the two
21:59guys that
22:00i know from a really long time so i made something handmade and now the bike is the real support
22:07of
22:08i don't want to say uh one artistic job but but it's like it feels like it has a pop
22:15art kind of feel
22:17is that fair to say that we can see the the circuit of the america's tower and the the american
22:22flag and
22:23inspired by by this track yes there are the iconic elements of the track and uh the colors for sure
22:32that the the most important is the yellow and everything is made to to have the feeling of of
22:38what will happen here in in texas but uh back there is uh as i said the the relationship i
22:47have with uh
22:48with utzo and valentine which was absolutely and still remains to be fantastic thank you very much
22:53for your thank you very much guys and we and we like the clothing as well that goes with it
22:58yeah
22:58i will find one for you thank you very much thank you great to see you you're not having one
23:04it's just
23:05me uh no i'm just kidding right so q2 then let's have some predictions for for front row pole positions
23:11well mark you know mark on the time attack yesterday was looking comfortable and we know he's got that
23:16advantage as well in the braking zones he's so strong in the stop and go stuff here with that
23:20the return of the of the standard michelin car case tire so yeah i think mark is the favorite
23:27bezeki was looking good as well and but he had that small tumble this morning so how is that going
23:31to do with his confidence uh we're going to find out we're going to find out very soon we're going
23:36to
23:36find out right now i wonder gav it's if it's going to be this ducati aprilium battle feels like it
23:42doesn't it but don't forget pedro costa is there in the mix and has looked good again this weekend
23:48um mark marcus has qualified on pole in eight of the 11 motor gp races he's taken part in in
23:54austin
23:56so you have to say coming in here is the fastest rider heading into the session he starts as the
24:02favorite but as we've just seen neil in q1 timing's going to be everything here getting your timing out
24:07getting out there quickly respecting your front tire as well and not going too early there you can
24:13see matched his record from the saxon ring here in austin yeah and he's been on the front row in
24:21both the races so far this year but he's not been on pole position second in thailand third last weekend
24:27in brazil but he will fancy he'll be backing himself right now don't you think he's covering off
24:33bezeki who in turn is behind his teammate in bagnaya though i think we're going to need to give
24:38themselves a little bit of room here i was just thinking the same a lot of bikes in the same
24:43part
24:43of the racetrack but they're all shot out aren't they they've just seen in q1 people miss a chance
24:47to go two times with their second tire this new part of the asphalt again got to be so wary
24:55of it
24:55look at marini talking about it just feels different like the track hasn't cured enough in that
25:02uh turn 12 area see from the overhead shot the different colored asphalt in there this is down
25:07to turn 15 this is where market has been making up time isn't it through that third sector yeah
25:13absolutely black say breaking on angle into that first gear corner marks now just drop back a little
25:17bit from bez to do exactly what you said trying to create a gap to chase out there's nothing worse
25:23than risking everything and then getting three quarters of the way around or even to the last corner
25:27and being held up we know that uh it's going to be tight really tight at the top times are
25:35close but
25:35if you do that and you just roll off that little bit you're not committing you're not giving the heat
25:39in your front tire it's just all a warning if you're giving yourself that room can you trust your
25:45tire down through turn two up the hill for jorge martin you're about to find out and we are everyone's
25:50about to find out and this is the place this is the part of the track if you've not pushed
25:53on the
25:54out lap enough you're going to find out maybe nervous just watching it there's bumps galore
26:01turn three though we're told there's a big bump in the middle of that corner just see the different
26:06lines through there was it acosta attacking the way you tacked to the apex there are you can take
26:11different lines through there it's such a technical part of the track hoge martin got it all wrong there
26:17you upset the bike on change of direction missed the apex by a mile so and that affects everyone behind
26:21exactly because now everyone's too close to him look and then the way that s's is the fast three
26:26four five and then six are fast and then it tightens back on itself doesn't it as it starts to
26:31then
26:31sort of climb up again yeah it's it is so technical it's the problem with that part of the track
26:36is you
26:36fast in slow out so you have to be patient but you're always tempted to throw it in and try
26:42and gain time
26:43and then you've got a big blue bike in your front or a big black bike there for alex marquez
26:47that's just
26:48stopping your progress through those corners uh pedro cost to be thankful for the slipstream he just
26:55sort of said up to turn 10 it's fine said after that oh it's having a look on the inside
27:01there we
27:02know he turns in early anyway the executives get held up held up by i who's had is it three
27:09crashes
27:09this weekend yeah yeah two this morning one yesterday bez had one just before in free practice
27:14this is qualifying for the usa grand prix here at the circuit of the americas and you know what
27:20they've all gone out together because this track's so unusual you need a marker you're not doing it
27:25just for a slipstream it's no one knows this track like you like you know the european tracks where
27:31you can go out and do the laps on your own so if you can get someone to chase down
27:35with all these
27:36heavy braking zones we've talked about them there's a lot lot to be gained well pezeki had to have a
27:41lunge then at the end didn't he on ayagura who really was feeling his way into the session bez goes
27:46top but he's replaced by francesco bagnaya peko bagnaya takes over at the top with a new all-time
27:53lap record so bagnaya it is in provisional fall from digi in second mark marquez is in third you feel
28:00like
28:01that was a feel your way through for mark marquez as bagnaya sat up there we are it's gone maverick
28:09vinales is record and it's gone the way of peko that's quite unusual for bagnaya to go out on his
28:15very first flying lab he's normally feels his way into it absolutely so that's that's really positive
28:22positive signs from peko you can't see on your screen on the tower on the left-hand side but on
28:27our
28:27timing screens five riders have gone quicker through the first sector one of them being mark marquez
28:33others are pezeki acosta mia and marini we're watching from the overhead shot of mark marquez
28:42as he drops down towards turn 11 here yeah and this is where he gains time the bobby pin as
28:49they call it
28:50yeah and he is all he's already under on his teammate and now he gets stronger doesn't he for sector
28:56three
28:56yep yeah this is oh he's gonna go wide yeah but he was if he'd have followed bastionini the lap
29:04was done
29:05the lap was he had to risk we released a bit of brake pressure throwing it to the apex but
29:11as soon as he got
29:11there the corners of that tight around that part of the track and this part of the traffic has cost
29:16him
29:16there cost pezeki on his first run and it's cost marquez but pezeki oh he just lost in third sector
29:22the yellow flag now joan mia oh it's bastionini while he was out of sorts in turn 12 he's gone
29:28down
29:28at turn 15 but he's mia oh mia it's just going to have gone through that yellow flag that just
29:34about
29:34sums up joan mia's last sort of three seasons i hope he was in the same i hope he was
29:40there as
29:41bastionini went down because this could put mia towards the front row of the grip he goes into
29:47pole that's a lap time by a quarter of a second swan mia on the honda and a little shake
29:52of the
29:52head as if to say well that felt good look at that that is a smile inside a honda garage
29:58ladies and
29:58gentlemen it's a collector's item these days that's rare especially on mia's side that's incredible what
30:04like from sort of nowhere i mean mia once he knocked off there he's knocked to 1.1 seconds off
30:11from
30:11yesterday well he came through q1 what do we say if there's a little bit of an advantage that he
30:18gained
30:19just it's that because the track conditions are so unusual at the moment being so cold and
30:23that wind's blowing so you're breaking markers at the end of that long
30:281.2 kilometer long straight when was his last pole
30:33has he had one in moto three was his last pole position
30:39wow never had a pole in moto two he only had one season of course 123
30:44moto gp grand prix for the 2020 world champion and he's never been on pole position wow
30:54that's yeah i'm speechless could it happen today for run it well he's got a fair advantage there i'm
31:02going to say i think they're going to go faster on the second rooms everyone mark marques though i reckon
31:07he's going to have to come into the pits isn't he i mean he's on a better lap here mark
31:11yeah his
31:12his second lap was effective just look at the time though yeah he's going to yeah is he going to
31:18come down
31:18pit lane i think he'll finish it off i think he'll come down pit lane i think you have to
31:22don't you
31:22yeah we're made up to fifth and he has rolled off there
31:31more traffic is it is this right now why he's rolled off he's shaking his head
31:38i think it's because of the traffic yeah was this with the moment oh yeah
31:45yeah and he's not happy there because i think he feels they're people on in laps yeah
31:56what's your take on it neil yeah absolutely that's it's qualifying you can't be on an in-lap
32:02cruising on the racing line that is the stewards will be looking at that that could be a it's a
32:07little
32:07telling off i think be one of those won't it yeah doubt it no the weight that speed that's what
32:12i'm
32:12about to say what's the top speed on that straight only only in that in this session about 215 miles
32:19an
32:19hour so it's fairly slow yeah yeah the last thing you want and there you those riders were on the
32:24racing line 216 actually oh that is fast though 215 isn't i'll dig it on a great lap if we
32:35can keep this
32:38oh wow that's what the limit looks like ladies and gentlemen and it's uh it's another weekend
32:46where going through q1 is definitely an advantage you'd want to peco bagnaya back out onto the track
32:54already he's done well here as peco getting himself out of sync and he should get two
33:00goes at it i'm not sure if many others will mark might he'd have to race out though now
33:08so for me and aldegar has just lost in the third split now
33:13are we guessing then that aldegar is just sticking with the one tire
33:18the problem you've got is you need to keep your spare tires don't you and he can't throw another
33:23tire at it he's used two tires basically in q1 there two soft tires you only get one extra by
33:29progressing through to q2 and he'll need to keep one for the sprint later you need to keep a spare
33:34for
33:34the sprint later but you'll also want one for sunday won't he yeah and just pretty close wasn't it yeah
33:43they will be having a look at that
33:47i mean besecki in turn besecki in turn was because of the honda that's in front
33:52he was happy yeah he was on his fastest lap market up to that point and i know we said
33:56look
33:57it looks like he's going to come in to put a fresh tire on but but that's two laps balked
34:00isn't it
34:00there was one with bastianini before when he messed it up that one was a bit more organic wasn't it
34:05tell you what bagnaya then looked unreal through there talk about commitment
34:13so having a look at trying everything the problem he's got here is look at the traffic in front of
34:18him it's messy as acosta was attacking marini and agura you wouldn't think around one of the longest
34:24tracks in the moto gp calendar that traffic would be an issue but it could well be an issue here
34:28for
34:28bagnaya because from here they're all going to be trying to separate themselves up on the racetrack
34:33exactly right that's what's going to happen because like yeah and they're not aware of someone closing in
34:39at an alarming rate oh he is going to get bought here massively what a shame for bagnaya they need
34:44the blue flag out for these riders now but it's oh they're already he's just on the back now but
34:49they're all in a train here yeah this is costing bagnaya time and you feel for him he's not gonna
34:54be
34:54able to squeeze through on the inside it's not an easy place to pass it'll be fuming it'll be absolutely
34:59fuming they're all on our backs so now you have to calm down and that's it and roll off yeah
35:05yeah i know i know tire then you're thinking yeah yeah but yeah they're the catty ride there's
35:10a little bit of stymied here you need to look over your shoulder make sure you're not going to
35:13bork someone make sure that gap's big enough yeah i'd want a bigger gap as well because there's so many
35:18bikes on track in front of you now right here we go mark marquez is across the line and setting
35:24off on his
35:25lap is here at the front of a group no he's got people in front of him i thought he
35:31ended up at
35:32the front of it did he get to the front i think you're right actually yeah he was behind his
35:36brother
35:36he's at the front yes because bagnaya was the last rider to pass the line before him and obviously
35:41that's a full lap round yeah so mark marcus has clear track in front of him now and he will
35:45get two
35:46goes at it oh he took a lot of curb there remember it crashed here by taking too much curb
35:51on that part of
35:52the track that was damp then on that occasion wasn't it damp curb but still it's brave and he's under
35:58through the first split already his brother's following with him his brother is quicker martin
36:03is quicker besecki is quicker digi's point three up in the first split so the bagnaya and augura
36:10incident under investigation i mean it'd be harsh to have a go at augura for that one when he's behind
36:1510 other bikes exactly
36:19digi a long way up through the first split
36:23they'll get two goes at it look at where digi is though he's goes behind me not a bad rider
36:28to be
36:29behind i would suggest oh someone it sounded like it sounded like an engine cut out in our headset
36:35as mark marquez drops anchors into 12. digi he's gonna get it stopped was his eyeline taken a little
36:42bit there yeah he went a little bit wide but still i think that was all right third split comes
36:47out of
36:48turn 15 so marco besecki has a quarter of a second underneath mir halfway round mark marcus providing the
36:55lead out for all these riders jorge martin also on a decent lap here mark under through the third sector
37:03but
37:03bez is really motoring did john antonio almost identical lap times three quarters of the way around
37:09we will have another go at it after this one though this is a great qualifying session we're
37:14getting at the us grand prix the circuit of the americas a honda currently on pole that could be their
37:20first
37:20pole since mark marquez was on a honda in 2023 to the line marcus second and besecki takes over at
37:28the top
37:28but quickly did john antonio supplant him on the vr 46 pack digi top bed second across the third
37:35mia fourth digi's done digi is done but other riders will be pushing on their second flying lap
37:42a cost has done both on the front row as things stand first split comes up out of turn six
37:50these
37:50markers is done mar marcus is done marcus is done and he's currently in fifth place i could get worse
37:57couldn't it yeah so second row of the grid for mark marcus at one of his favorite grand prix's
38:02big smile smile because you know obviously he's always the threat
38:08besecki first sector is off dijan antonio's time hey i think it might be that that might be that
38:14because everyone's pace is just not going to be enough here
38:18no there's only banyaya who looks like he could improve i feel for banyaya i really do yeah he's
38:25currently in eighth place
38:30looking down the order besecki yeah quarter of a second off through the second sector
38:35and you look at banyaya's qualifying so far he was 13th in thailand and he was 11th last weekend in
38:41brazil so fabio gian antonio waited a long time for his second pole and and the light buses gav have
38:49a link
38:51poor position last weekend could be back to back unless peko banyaya can conjure something up
38:56in the third sector i hope it is he catching up it's it's high isn't it obviously in front of
39:00him he could go
39:01front row with this jiji dalena watches on third split comes up for him still could be on from
39:11drawing timing screens are coming up late here because that was well out of where the uh split is
39:17could put him on the second row could he go front row though with a great last sector here for
39:22banyaya
39:25into the final corner needs this just like he needed in brazil and in thailand and it wasn't to be
39:32what's it going to be for banyaya this time he goes second row
39:39but that's that's decent you have to say for banyaya he's got decent pace on the medium tire on sunday
39:45will be a threat on sunday it means he's on the second row with mark marquez juan mir sandwiched in
39:50between them but your front row of the grid three different manufacturers and it's fabio di
39:55jan antonio who goes back to back with pole positions he's in pole for the us grand prix
40:01marco bizzecki the championship leader alongside him and pedro costa who led it after the opening
40:06round in thailand he lines up in third we have got some sprints coming up later on because i i
40:14don't
40:15think any of us can call it no hey and what a time for fabio di jan antonio to find
40:20this
40:20form we know that the majority of the factory seats have already been taken for the next two
40:25years and fabio's name was one of those riders where maybe not the favorite favorite child in the
40:31vr46 squad the talk is they signed out the gate yeah already already next year so which is a perfect
40:36example and the pressure was on at the start of the year no guarantees of work this could be his
40:42last
40:42here in grand prix racing and he's on the form of his life very impressive
40:50oh see that's that's that is going to be a penalty well mark mark is there was saying no i
40:56was offline
40:56but no he wasn't though he was he was turning into the apex cruising look he's cruising he's definitely
41:01cruising
41:06it's a lot of have been going on hasn't there it's one line through that part of the track it
41:10really is
41:12there's gonna be some arguments going on with the stewards yeah and i tell you later on this afternoon
41:16mark mark is on the second row of the grid if he gets a penalty
41:20if he gets a penalty then other people will be getting penalties won't they but yeah you're right
41:26it's a messy session yeah it really is but like you just said though as well hard to call like
41:32who's
41:32got the best race pace it's tight between bez and uh fabio digit and antonio bez looked good on soft
41:41tires yesterday didn't he look really really good but he's not a sprint man no that's true
41:48so far this year in the sprints obviously uh in thailand crashed out brazil was fourth
41:56digi of course was second battling mark marquez to the finish pedro costa won the sprint in thailand
42:05pedro costa's record of out qualifying his teammates on numerous is it was it with 50 something
42:13continues yeah yeah continues i mean for a lap pedro costa gets the most out of his package
42:23that cannot be uh denied
42:28like you said banyaya unlucky catching traffic mere impressive on the honda
42:33mark mark as well we get my market caught traffic on two of his laps didn't he on the first
42:37one and then
42:38he's bought bastianini potentially so lots of uh simon crafer and mark marquez relationship is it
42:46going to continue to be a bit frosty spiral out of control
42:56the us grand prix he was hoping for
43:04this man though has turned up yet again and consistently there that's the important bit
43:09yeah and wait till you see this bike with a new livery for the race i'm assuming they're just going
43:13to use it tomorrow are they yeah that's what he said yesterday okay sunday he's got the helmet out
43:18today he's got the helmet basically the bike matches the helmet he said it's frustrating if you
43:22see all the bits in the uh in the back ready to go on the bike and you want to
43:26use it but uh
43:27they're saving it for sunday it's perfect it's going to be on pole position for them
43:34they got the doldrums a bit last year didn't he fabio question marks about where he's really at
43:45but wow as he bounced back very impressive sits fourth in the championship
43:54i'm just trying to think back of mark as his qualifying positions here over recent years
43:59second row is a rarity it means he's going to be coming back remember him trying to fight back when
44:03he's on the grassini fight back through the order and crashing out so yeah it's uh well fascinating day
44:08we've got for us now mark mark is on the second row with mir and bagnaya front row pedro costa
44:13third
44:14mark of the second and back to back pole susie the family john antonio and vr 46.
44:20yeah what a lap for fabio and it must be these new liveries and this new kit that they keep
44:26turning
44:26up with at these uh special events because a brilliant performance from digi absolutely destroyed the lap
44:33record what a lap he's on the form of his life i mean great start of season super strong in
44:38brazil last
44:39week and here we know he likes it he was on the podium here last year but he's making it
44:43count i
44:44mean yeah obliterated at one point i thought we're going to see the first 159 under you know just under
44:49two minutes but uh yeah it was close that would have been something shall we have a look michael at
44:53hello by the way uh howdy uh shall we have a look at that that one lap where it all
44:58came together for
44:59so many of the riders then obviously it was quite a busy section of the race track joan mir was
45:04providing a
45:04little bit of a marker for digi he had to make that overtake at the end of the street but
45:08it didn't cost
45:09him anything bezeki's got his teammate jorge martin watch how bezeki pivots here on turn 15 it just
45:15sort of floats around the apex you can see digi in the background both these riders are moving fast
45:20digi was so committed all the way around red indicators are a plenty here you've got digi bezeki
45:25mark also on a lap at this point that could have put him up front and pedro costa the quiet
45:31one in that
45:31session didn't get involved in the mix but got it done for uh a solid start tomorrow but yeah bezeki
45:37here i
45:37thought he's put it all together but digi just keeping coming sylvan called it he's very good
45:42in the last two corners really good in that final sector and nailed the whole position so he keeps
45:47the ball rolling digi's the man on form at the moment and the br46 team are really providing
45:52the tools for him to deliver these type of lap times and i think he's probably the favorite for
45:56the sprint this afternoon yeah he's looking so good and so cool out there isn't he when we talked about
46:01that traffic there and it was pretty intense at various different points and obviously there was
46:05coming out there was going in on um in laps out laps all happen at the same time it seemed
46:10like mark
46:10was getting embroiled in in everything that was happening on the track you had to feel for him
46:15early doors uh because he you know it did obviously affect his first lap yeah he was on the on
46:21the
46:21receiving end to start with um it's funny because it's a big big track here really really long and
46:26they managed to get all all together yeah mark marquez there but initially he was on a good lap there
46:33he had to release the brake to uh to come pass and that ruined this lap and then he uh
46:38he went for
46:38another lap when all the other guys were sort of an in lap and they never saw him coming so
46:43we don't
46:44know yet if it's going to be some uh penalties for that but there'll definitely be some words there
46:48because mark was on a on uh on he was improving his time and uh yeah he had nowhere to
46:53go there with uh
46:54with bezecki and uh was it me or marini marini yeah so um um unfortunately that for my wasn't
47:02able to uh to improve that put him a little bit on the back foot um and he had to
47:07go for that for
47:08that last time i thought then he got in the way over there yeah i mean this one is not
47:12so clear
47:12because mark we saw on the on board we saw mark looking back he knows that any is coming leaves
47:17a
47:17bit of a gap leaves a really small gap though so look at it now he's looking back he knows
47:22but
47:22bassanini is coming leaves a bit of room if you're bassanini though if mark is not completely off the
47:27line you always get the doubt and you commit a little bit less and so by the time you're already
47:31thinking about it you think ah he's um you know he's he's made me lose like a time for two
47:36so you
47:36you sort of like roll off and uh yeah this one is not a clear cut no um where do
47:41you stand on this
47:42in terms of you know what could happen now because obviously under investigation we know from
47:47simon crayfar on the team they will look at every camera angle the on board that they will have from
47:53mark spike the fact that on the outside of turn six he was able to see it now he made
47:57the decision
47:57to cross the track and try and stay off the line but i don't think he got off far enough
48:01he could
48:01have rode the white line to the right side not tipped in and then that means that they doesn't feel
48:05there's a threat of of mark coming in and taking the line away so i think that simon and the
48:11guys will
48:11have to deem that that he has impeded in a bassinini on that lap whether then they take
48:16mark's scenario into the equation that he was impeded twice earlier in the session and then go
48:21leniently how does it work i don't know do two wrongs make a right i'm not sure it'll be interesting
48:27to see what what happens there but uh we had an invigorated peco bagnaya out there and actually
48:33you know it you had a feeling that he could have got himself on the front row even in maybe
48:38pole
48:38position today yeah it was close it looked good on the back the bike looked really sharp and it
48:43looked like like the old peco and we've not seen that peco for a long time
