00:00Let's get to it.
00:01Miles Garrett gets his contract adjusted by the Browns.
00:05What do you make of this, Coach?
00:06And where would you maybe think about the Browns trading Miles Garrett?
00:11I'm a hard no on Miles Garrett.
00:12And, once again, a couple things that people have asked me about a couple of days,
00:17like player compensation and all these things that, like, player value and draft value,
00:24like none of that stuff means anything to me.
00:26Like, I don't know.
00:26Well, if you're trying to win football games and you're going into a draft and, like,
00:30I just don't understand.
00:31For me, this is, once again, I listen to other people's views.
00:34But the idea of getting rid of your best player, then trading down not to take a best player,
00:39just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
00:41And I understand the draft capital and we're rebuilding.
00:44But coaches don't rebuild.
00:45We're trying to win right now.
00:47So, like, I hear all that stuff and it makes sense to me.
00:50But it makes absolutely zero sense to trade Miles Garrett and then trade down.
00:54And, you know, take a go-get a game changer, keep Miles Garrett, and try to win some games.
00:59Yeah, you are the last person on planet Earth I would think would be in favor of that.
01:03I was like, when I knew we were having you on, I'm like, he's going to go so far no
01:07in regards to that.
01:09Because you just want to keep players, keep good players.
01:12But you also have a belief, it sounds like to me, Coach, and I've worked with you enough to believe
01:15it,
01:16that you think everyone should be trying to win at all costs every single season.
01:19And I just don't know that that's what the Browns are trying to do here.
01:21And I think if you traded Miles, I think they'd be telling you pretty confidently that 2026 is not a
01:27winning season for them.
01:30Then that's something you can't turn off.
01:32You can't turn on, like, we're going to bomb this year and we're going to reset.
01:36That didn't seem to work the first time they did it.
01:39And I mean, I don't know enough.
01:41I just like to watch the film.
01:42But that doesn't seem to be a really popular thing that works very well for anybody at any level.
01:47But I will say this, if the Browns are going to get rid of people and they're going to not
01:53try to win,
01:55that trickles over into more things than just tanking or saying you're tanking.
01:59That's practice habits.
02:00If you're trying to win, then you're creating good practice habits.
02:03If you're trying to win, then players know that when they come to your organization.
02:08That's how you, the attention to detail, watching film, how you lift, all those things,
02:13how you take care of your body, recovery.
02:14Those things all start with, I think we can win every game.
02:18When people say, how many games are the Browns going to win?
02:20They're going to win the first one.
02:21And if they don't, then they're going to try to win the second one.
02:23So for me, I just don't, if they were to get rid of Myles Garrett,
02:28obviously they're gaining grass capital.
02:31At some point in time, you draw a line in the sand and say, I'm going to win week one.
02:34I'm keeping all my best players and I'm going to go draft some really good players
02:36and we're going to try to win week one.
02:38Just the idea of not trying to win, I just can't compute.
02:42And I won't, and I won't try.
02:43I don't want to ever think like that.
02:45Now we're talking the same language there, coach.
02:47Just a couple of football guys here.
02:49I do want to get to Caden Proctor out of Alabama.
02:52I think he surprised a lot of people.
02:54He's down under 360.
02:56Apparently he's been able to maintain that weight.
02:58He did start for three years as a left tackle.
03:01Some are suggesting not only could he be in play at six,
03:04he could be in play as high as three with Arizona.
03:07Do you think Caden Proctor could be a left tackle in the NFL?
03:11Yeah, I do.
03:12Obviously the weight is going to be a concern.
03:14Tell me about it, coach.
03:16What's that?
03:16Tell me about it, coach.
03:17Power through.
03:19So if you think about what happens when you're that size
03:23and it's happened to big tackles, you create bad habits with your feet,
03:28you create bad habits with your hands because of the fact you can get away with it
03:32at a certain level.
03:33Then you get to the NFL and you can't.
03:34Even if you could do it in the SEC, you can't do it at Alabama.
03:37Now, to say he's going to be top three or four, that does not match the film I watch.
03:41It's really good.
03:42But if he's going to be top three or four,
03:44it would be one of the teams that are analytic people, right?
03:46The numbers, the wingspan, the size, the lateral movement, the 10-yard split,
03:52all that stuff means absolutely nothing to me.
03:55When I watch him on the film, is he trying to knock the guy down?
03:59And he's not.
04:00And that's just not a style.
04:01Now, can he be successful?
04:02Yes, because he is a tremendous athlete.
04:04Does he have top three, five traits?
04:07Absolutely.
04:08It goes back to like Jed Wills, Tristan Wirfs.
04:10Wirfs is just nasty.
04:12When you listen to him, he doesn't sound very happy.
04:14That's how you kind of want your offensive lineman to be.
04:16I just don't see it in Proctor.
04:18I think he's okay.
04:19I got him 10th on my board at tackle.
04:21So it's just that one-two and that nastiness that I haven't seen out of him
04:26in the film I watch.
04:28Wow.
04:28Okay, so that's not nearly as high as what I think a lot of people are expecting there.
04:32All right, what do you have with Blake Miller?
04:34Because he's another one of these tackles that we just have not discussed much about,
04:37but it feels like it's gaining momentum.
04:39Well, you know, he's out of Clemson, kid out of Strongfield.
04:42They've had, you know, his brother's really good too.
04:44He's a guy who's good in pass protection.
04:47Again, he's not a mauler.
04:48He's a position blocker.
04:49He's a waller, not a mauler, so he's going to get his backside between the ball carrier
04:53and the defender and where the ball's going.
04:55But he does a really nice job.
04:56The problem is he doesn't have functional strength when he's blocking,
04:59so he rarely gets any vertical displacement.
05:02So if you're running zone, you're going to have to get inside of him.
05:05If he's double-teaming, that guard's going to have to take most of that double.
05:08He'll kind of bang that hip and get to the two-backer.
05:10He's not a super, super physical guy, and I'm not sure why,
05:16but he's pretty good in pass protection.
05:17His ability to kick is pretty good.
05:19A lot of these tackles, they don't actually kill you in the run game,
05:23but a lot of these guys have really good footwork,
05:25Blake Miller being one of them when he passed that.
05:28Lance Rislin on the Make It Right Call Kyle Wright hotline.
05:31I'm actually curious about the Toledo kid, the safety, Emmanuel McNeil Warren.
05:36There's been a couple mocks I've seen having him go 24 to the Browns.
05:41There is a thought that the Browns need a safety.
05:43I know you're a big Caleb Downs guy.
05:45What do you think about the kid out of Toledo?
05:48Well, you know, if I cut 6'3", 209, he kind of fits that one high hat persona.
05:52Toledo's had a lot of really good football players.
05:55I would say the thing is that when you're that tall,
05:57it's sometimes hard to get in and out of your breaks.
06:00Your hips aren't as fluid as you'd like them.
06:02Now, the good thing is when you're one high hat,
06:04your job is to make sure that he has really good clothes because at that height,
06:08he's not real super fluid in his movement.
06:11If it was a stop and start guy, he was put cover.
06:14But if you keep him at the one high hat, you know, he can be a really good player.
06:18But I'll tell you what, there's some really good safeties in this draft.
06:22Like, for example, Bud Clark you can get, who I think is better.
06:26I have him ahead of the kid at Toledo.
06:28You can get him out of TCU on day three.
06:31Same kind of thing.
06:32You know, when you're this one high hat safety defense,
06:34you can get some scheme-specific guys that are really good in what you do.
06:39Is Shador Sanders better than Ty Simpson?
06:45Yes, I think he is better than Ty Simpson.
06:47I think, but I think Ty Simpson has a pretty good ceiling.
06:51You know, once again, I'm not, the idea of can Shador Sanders do it or not,
06:56I think it's the extremes that everybody's in.
06:59You know, he's either going to be all pro after week three
07:01or he's the worst quarterback ever.
07:03And the reality is, with the people he had around him,
07:06his offensive line, the scheme, Kevin Stefanski obviously having issues,
07:11there's a wait and see.
07:13So I am, though I'm not giving him the keys to the car,
07:16I would like to see what he can do.
07:17I thought, you know, people ask me what I thought he did best.
07:20I thought he had a good impact, way beyond the numbers.
07:23I thought Samson played better.
07:24I thought Bond played better.
07:26I thought some guys played better when he was in the game.
07:29And that's kind of that it factor that he has.
07:31Now, if you put some guys around him, they've attacked the offensive line.
07:34If they go out and get some skill guys and he stinks, then you know.
07:37But right now I would say it's hard to tell.
07:39I think Ty Simpson, I'm not nearly as high on Ty Simpson.
07:43I have Garrett Nussmeyer as my number two, as most people.
07:46But, you know, Ty Simpson has a pretty good ceiling, coach's kid,
07:50you know, that kind of thing.
07:51But once again, I think Shador has a chance to be pretty good
07:55if the guys around him play well.
07:57All right, coach.
07:58We appreciate you, buddy.
08:01A little disappointing in your beer taste, just between us friends.
08:07So, you know, I need a little zip in mind.
08:08I need a little hoppy zip in mind.
08:10Wait, I need to find out what's the disappointing thing,
08:12because all I know about coach's beer taste is you like IPAs,
08:15but more importantly, you like things with the most alcohol by volume.
08:17So he does like that, but he loves hoppy beer, like overly hoppy beer.
08:22His favorite beer at a place we both have been,
08:26his favorite beer is so hoppy I couldn't finish it.
08:28He's told me about it.
08:29And then I went searching to try to pick it up,
08:32and then I decided against it.
08:33Yeah.
08:33Yeah.
08:33So.
08:36Well, I'm sorry.
08:37I'm speaking on his coach.
08:37I'm sorry.
08:39Were you afraid of it?
08:40Like, what happened?
08:42Did it scare me?
08:43Yeah.
08:43He actually.
08:44Was I spooked by it?
08:45He called me, and he's like, Nick, I think the beer's going to get me.
08:48I am shaking in my boots.
08:49I don't think I got this one.
08:51Coach, be good, buddy.
08:52Appreciate it, Coach.
08:52Absolutely.
08:53See you, boys.
08:54Lance Reisland there, 92-3 the fan.
