01:11two starting caliber quarterbacks on their roster because I don't know that I agree with that, but he's going to
01:19have to pick one of them.
01:21So, and good luck to whoever that's going to be.
01:25So, in your estimation then, when he says every day he leans one way or another with quarterbacks, it's not
01:29because one quarterback is taking it.
01:32It's more the idea that each quarterback is just kind of not really grabbing it.
01:37One day it's Deshaun that looks good.
01:39The next day it's Shadour that looks good.
01:41Then the next day it's back to Deshaun and then back to Shadour.
01:44And I think that that's just, you know, the way it's gone, and certainly that's understandable.
01:48It's not a live practice.
01:49These are just OTAs.
01:51They're in short shirts and helmets.
01:53But, yeah, I don't think that either one of these quarterbacks has taken this thing over, and that's why Munkin
02:01isn't sure whether or not he's going to have a guy picked for the start of training camp or not,
02:06or are they going to go into camp and have to figure this thing out?
02:09Because, yeah, I mean, it's just it's been a little inconsistent, and part of that is they are installing the
02:15offense.
02:16They are working on some stuff.
02:18The run game looked good today.
02:20That was a positive development, and I think that's something they probably should really lean into early in the season
02:27is trying to run the football with authority.
02:30But, yeah, these quarterbacks, and like last week, Deshaun had a really good practice.

02:39You know, so, yeah, I think that's why Todd Munkin finds himself in the position of talking about his view

05:13So, I really think the NFL just needs to get over themselves and let the players have the numbers they

05:23when, you know, the rookies had to go through him to get whatever number they were going to wear.
05:29Kevin Stefanski was the big decider on what jersey number you got.
05:33I mean, can you micromanage that anymore?
05:35So, yeah, I honestly don't care what numbers these guys wear.
05:40If that number makes you happy, you should be able to wear it.

06:03Yeah, I loved him talking about how he's not here to fill Myles Garrett's shoes.
06:07He's here to be his own player and be the best defensive player he could be and aspire to be
06:13the best defensive player in the NFL on the best defense in the NFL.
06:17I thought he was fantastic.
06:19It was a great introduction.
06:21I really appreciated that he did not gloss over his disappointment in being traded.
06:27Not so much that he was traded to the Browns, but that he was settled in in L.A., going
06:32into his third season, really liked it out there.
06:35And I respected the candor of him expressing that he was really angry that the Rams traded him.
06:44But on the other hand, he was grateful that there was a team out there that really wanted him.
06:48And he also ended up in a trade featuring Myles Garrett, right?
06:53So that obviously is a compliment to him in some ways as well.
06:58I thought it was a fantastic introductory press conference and I have a feeling that we'll be hearing plenty from
07:06him in the weeks, months, and years to come.

07:11Obviously, the Browns trading Myles Garrett has brought out the cynics.
07:15And the fact that they're probably going to be looking for the quarterback in 2027 has brought out further cynics.
07:21Well, they should be looking for the quarterback in 2027, but we already knew that.
07:24When can Browns fans expect the Browns to consistently be good or winning again?
07:31When they find that quarterback.
07:33Nailed it.
07:33I mean, it's the missing piece to the puzzle here.
07:37You've got a good young core, which Verse fits in well with.
07:42He's in that age group.
07:44He's in that experience level.
07:48But until they have a quarterback, they're dead where they stand.
07:51I mean, I hate to be that negative for Browns fans because they deserve a winning team.
07:57It's been a long time coming, not just a winning team, but a consistent winning team.
08:01And not just, you know, a playoff berth every 10 years.
08:05And then you've got to suffer through nine other double-digit lost seasons and, you know, have the NFL draft
08:10be your Super Bowl
08:11and cling to the hope that the GM is picking good players that can, you know, help get this on
08:16track.
08:17I think that they've got a good quality nucleus of young players right now.
08:23But the only way, I think, for them to elevate to a level that has them competing where, you know,
08:32fans would like to see them compete,
08:33and that's, you know, the postseason, they've got to have a quarterback.
08:36Now, I did like what Jared Ver said today about his first impressions of the Browns because, again,
08:45he's coming from a team that was a player or two away from making the Super Bowl, right?
08:49And the Rams have been a consistent winner out West for the most part.
08:54I know they had a couple of tough seasons after they won the Super Bowl, but they have bounced back
08:59organizationally.
09:02And him basically, and I'm paraphrasing, but essentially what he said is,
09:06that's not a losing football team that I practice with today.
09:09The way they practice is really, really good and reminds him of winning teams.
09:16He likes how they get after it.
09:18Is there a chance he was lying based off of what you said happened at practice today?
09:21Well, I think he's talking about the defense more so than the offense.
09:26But I do think that that was, you know, that was nice to hear.
09:32And, you know, hey, maybe he is trying to make a good impression and doesn't want to rip his new
09:35teammates.
09:36But I do think that there's some truth to that on his side of the ball
09:39because that defensive side of the ball has been pretty good the last couple of years.
09:42And the question is now, without Miles, can they still maintain that level?
09:46Will Verst be able to come in?
09:48And I don't expect him to be Miles Garrett.
09:51I don't expect him to have the same impact that Miles Garrett had.
09:55But, you know, I do expect that he's going to be a good player and he's going to make some
09:59plays.
10:00So, you know, once they get the quarterback, they'll be set.
10:05But I just, I don't know when that's going to be.
10:07I wish I could tell fans it's going to be next year, but there's no guarantee, right?

11:22I thought the forced marriage thing was a pretty good line, that that doesn't work in
11:26the NFL, but his account of how that whole thing went down and what I've heard, as far
11:32as how that whole thing went down, differs just a little bit.
