00:00Coming up on this episode of Orange County Chopper's Originals.
00:04Dr. Smith and Dr. Gopal are so committed.
00:07Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia.
00:10Suggests making part of it look like a brain.
00:12Maybe we will.
00:19Okay, so what's the problem?
00:21So you guys ready to see the motorcycle?
00:59We'll see you next time.
01:00So typical OCC, Sunday you do an unveil and Monday you're on to the next bike.
01:06Leo is a special guy.
01:08He really wanted to do this bike.
01:10So Dr. Smith and Dr. Gopal, the Byrd Institute, are so committed to what they do.
01:17It's just great to see.
01:19I think the real ultimate goal, though, is to find a cure for Alzheimer's and dementia.
01:30When you say Alzheimer's, you know, what does that encompass?
01:34So Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia.
01:38A lot of times people think those terms are interchangeable.
01:41Dementia really just means that you have changes in memory and thinking and it affects your day-to-day function.
01:46And it's a change from how you used to be.
01:48Thank you.
01:49We are studying risk factors.
01:52So what I mean by that is many, many small changes in our genes create a situation where some of
02:00us have greater lifetime risk than the others.
02:03There are lots and lots of lifestyle changes that we can do now to keep the disease at bay.
02:09Among my age group, you know, I have to say that we joke all the time.
02:13My girlfriend's like, okay, third time walking into the kitchen and can't remember why I'm in here, you know.
02:17And I'm like, oh, only three tries?
02:19Took me four.
02:20But it is the beginning of your brain starting to...
02:23Right.
02:24But some of that is normal aging, you know.
02:26And it can be hard sometimes to kind of differentiate what that line is.
02:30Every time that you take that bike to an event, people may not walk over to a table that is
02:36about autism or Alzheimer's or, you know, but they walk over to a really cool bike and it allows you
02:44the opportunity to strike up a conversation about it.
02:47You know, when you originally may say, you know, I want to put this logo on there, but when you're
02:51into the middle of the bike, we're not, that changes.
02:54My husband wanted to suggest making part of it look like a brain.
02:57Maybe we will.
02:58Okay. I think that we got enough to take back to the shop with us.
03:03From an R&D perspective, you don't always get the opportunity to really see into what a company does.
03:10And I really feel like Dr. Smith and Dr. Goebel shared so much with us and what they're doing and
03:18how committed that they are to making a difference in Alzheimer's and how it plays out.
03:24I personally could have stayed there all day.
03:29When we started the Alzheimer's bike, we already had the frame made.
03:33So we, I found a tank that was close that I thought would work, but, but anyhow, Anthony, I gave
03:42Anthony a call.
03:43He came over the following day, but he cut the tunnel out, dropped the front on there, and it looked
03:49just like it was made for the bike.
03:51Throwing that frame up here?
03:54Not at, not after you spoke to me that way.
03:57Yeah, grab the old axle.
04:00Put it on backwards.
04:01This is nothing, too.
04:05Probably a good spot for it.
04:07The front end's pretty long, you know?
04:08Yeah.
04:09Everything for the front end I'll give you.
04:12Let me get you one under the tree so you know what I'm talking about.
04:15So this goes, this is going to go like this here.
04:18This is going to be like that, right?
04:21So you have these here.
04:23You're going to put it like a little, whatchamacallit here, so when you turn it.
04:27Oh, wait, the weld's up off.
04:28It'll hit.
04:29Do you want to put the motor and the trans in first, set it in there?
04:32Whatever you want to do.
04:34Yeah, because we're going to have to do that to do the chain.
04:51I always talk highly of you, Mike.
04:53You don't?
04:55No, you don't.
04:56You probably don't even speak to me at all.
04:59Your other children and how smart and successful they are.
05:02I'll be honest with you, Mike.
05:04When it's just me and him, he talks about you constantly.
05:07Really?
05:16Mike.
05:16Yeah?
05:17How do you like working with Christian?
05:18It's awesome.
05:19It's nice to me.
05:20Does it remind you of the old days?
05:22Yep.
05:23Yeah?
05:23Even if you're having a bad day, if you're having something going on in your life,
05:26you know what I mean, just spend like five, ten minutes with Mikey
05:29and things just really turn around, you know?
05:33He's one of those guys, if you can't get along with him,
05:36I think there's probably something wrong with you.
05:38Do we want to open up SMT wheels now?
05:42We do.
05:42Wait and see these wheels, buddy.
05:44These are going to be nice.
05:46I got a missed call for Paul C.
05:47Yeah, I did for you.
05:48You don't know where we were.
05:50Oh, man.
05:51Here's the air cleaner.
05:55The thing with his bike is purple.
06:02Get dangerous and closer to that wheel.
06:05These are the theme.
06:07Like these two colors lead, huh?
06:09Or dementia.
06:12Dementia.
06:13Get past it.
06:14Get past dementia.
06:15Think of that wheel.
06:21How nice is that, man?
06:23It's beautiful.
06:24I didn't know you had a beautiful sprocket like that.
06:26Yeah, I wanted to offset it with the other colors.
06:28Nice.
06:29Go get your front wheel.
06:30Let's give him his front wheels.
06:32Here.
06:37Mike, what are you doing?
06:38He was excited with the wheel.
06:40It's very nice hanging out with the old boy.
06:43Yeah, sure, he's getting old.
06:46Tell him I said that.
06:47Yeah, man.
06:48It's nice or that he's getting old.
07:09We put it back together.
07:11I mean, that's good enough to put a chain on.
07:15Mike, do you have the tire?
07:19You want that a little bit?
07:20A little.
07:21Yeah?
07:22Just a little.
07:34Now, we can do one or two things here, Jimbo.
07:38What's that called?
07:39Only your good friends call you Jimbo, right?
07:41They do, Paulie.
07:42That's correct.
07:42You should be honored.
07:43I am honored.
07:45I don't think you are.
07:47I don't think you realize.
07:50The only reason I'm doing the episode is so people can see how honored I am.
07:53Yes.
07:53I want it documented, so when I pass away, people will be like Jimbo.
07:58He was really honored to work together.
08:00We're funky.
08:01We're getting funky, man.
08:02You know what?
08:02Maybe you'd use red for the pinstriping, too.
08:11That looks good.
08:11I like it.
08:25Oh, baby.
08:30It's coming along good.
08:32You know, the chain, we got the, you know, we're going to have to space out the sprocket
08:35a little bit, but that's just standard stuff.
08:37Motor's in the transit, and I think that, I don't know, for the half a day that we put
08:43in, I'm more than happy.
08:46Ah, you .
08:47You wouldn't get on.
09:26I'm just stealing the head pipes off this other exhaust, saving me a little bit of time
09:30today.
09:31Got to get going on baking the pipes on this bike.
09:34I think we're going to do something crazy with the exhaust.
09:36Me and Christian were talking about it.
09:37I wanted to kind of go through the backside of this frame, and I think that'll be a cool
09:42look.
09:43Maybe have it come around the motor like this, you know, kind of do some bends through
09:48here, and then pipe it, the exhaust out the back of the frame right here.
09:53I think that would give it a really cool look.
10:28Yeah, I'm thinking something like that, but, you know, more of a knife.
10:33On top of each other, or next?
10:35Next to each other.
10:36Next to each other.
10:36Like that.
10:39Okay.
10:40I'm digging it so far.
10:42You know what I mean?
10:42Yeah.
10:42I think that would look cool.
10:44And then do those teardrops, and then kick it out this way.
10:47Like it's getting dumped out that way.
10:50All right, we got things to do, Jim.
10:52Get your out of my way over here, right?
10:54Mike.
10:55Thanks, buddy.
10:56I'm going to need you today.
10:57You ever get a panic attack?
10:59Wake up with a panic attack?
11:00Yeah.
11:02What?
11:03You know what really, like, the thing that happens to me quite often, like when that happens,
11:10is I'm in water, and like I'll go underneath the water and can't find my way back out.
11:16So you're like drowning.
11:18Most people's worst fear.
11:20I hate you.
11:21I get nightmares, too.
11:22I'm telling you.
11:23I get sleep paralysis sometimes.
11:25Huh?
11:26I get sleep paralysis.
11:27What's that?
11:28It's like when you fall asleep, but then you wake up, your mind's awake.
11:32Oh, your body's not.
11:34I hate you.
11:35And you think about the same thing over and over and over and over, right?
11:40I don't think people, people don't realize the pressure of doing this.
11:45And it's not just pressure on me.
11:47It's on pressure.
11:47It's, it's, it's, it's, it's pressure on the production team.
11:50It's, it's, it's pressure on everybody because everybody has a commitment.
11:54Where's Mike?
11:56Jump him in there.
11:57What's up?
11:59We're going to work together today.
12:01We're going to do it.
12:01You're going to be an apprentice, my apprentice.
12:04And you'll learn a lot because I've been around a long time and I have a lot of experience.
12:09Oh, yeah?
12:09Yeah.
12:10I believe it.
12:11And every time that you make a mistake, I'm going to put your hand on the table and hit it
12:14with a ball peen hammer.
12:16One finger at a time.
12:17Okay.
12:18With a ball peen hammer.
12:19Smash.
12:19Huh?
12:20Smash the finger.
12:21You'll learn.
12:22Quick.
12:35Now the chain, we had no choice but to run it really close to the tire, off of the tire
12:39but close and I had to cut away more of the rear fender.
12:43And you know, with custom bikes, it's, it's one of those things, it's nothing.
12:46They were just bolts together.
12:48You know, you're chopping it up.
12:49You got to, you got to make sparks.
12:51You got to make stuff happen.
13:09Then you could just round this off a little bit, right?
13:12Yeah.
13:13I can.
13:14I, I, I kind of like that right there, bro.
13:18Ah, you f***ing idiot.
13:20You're ricking it up.
13:22F***ing, why the f*** you got to?
13:24You don't have a good jam.
13:25I got zapped.
13:27This is not grounded.
13:29Can you get me a pair of gloves?
13:30Man.
13:31It's grounded.
13:32You need a pair of gloves?
13:33It's grounded to the-
13:34The fender's not grounded though.
13:36Boy, did I get zapped.
13:38Did that wake you up a little bit?
13:40Hilarious.
13:40You can see his pucker up real close.
13:43Well, the other one was sticking out there.
13:45Maybe cut it like half an inch or something.
13:49It's on there.
13:5097.
13:51Put it, cut it, put it on the lathe and just cut, whack it off.
13:55Like that.
13:58There, I can't see from the back.
14:01It feels like it should be closed.
14:03It's closed.
14:06So when you tack your bottom on on, you've got to hold it in that crispy side.
14:11You can wedge up and down as you move.
14:14And, uh, it's just one of those things.
14:18I don't know.
14:19It should be the standard.
14:21I don't know what to do.
14:21I don't know if we're putting front thrashers on it.
14:23I don't think we're going to tack.
14:24Brush it.
14:24Okay.
14:25Line it up.
14:26You look from the back.
14:27Does he got the thing cut there?
14:28Line it up.
14:29You look from the back.
14:31You've got to pull the bottom over there.
14:34Nothing's set up right here.
14:36Nothing.
14:37Nothing's holding up the fender.
14:38What are you doing over here?
14:40Let me see what you're doing over here.
14:42What are you doing over here?
14:43Let me see.
14:44What are you...
14:45You got that tack to there?
14:47So what are you going to tack it up here now?
14:49Yeah, it's too short.
14:50It's too short?
14:52Can you weld it?
14:53Weld the thing.
14:57What's too short?
14:58I made it too short?
15:00Why are you telling me you cut half of them?
15:01Why?
15:02I don't give a...
15:03I don't care if it's in the center or the frame.
15:05Nobody's going to see it.
15:05Well, it's got to touch the frame so I can weld it there.
15:07It was just touching the frame.
15:09It wasn't.
15:09Okay.
15:10It's got to be in there like that.
15:12Okay.
15:12Yeah, that's where it needs to be.
15:13Okay.
15:14So what's the problem?
15:15Christian, you got a minute over here
15:17and get this thing tacked on.
15:19Paul, he's Paul.
15:20He's a little rough around the edges,
15:21and he just is how he is.
15:24You know, I think he means really well most of the time,
15:27and he's a good dude,
15:29but he's harsh sometimes.
15:53I got a lot from you,
15:55so it's really not you,
15:56you know what I mean?
15:57Yeah.
15:58So I apologize.
15:59It's just...
15:59It's all right, man.
16:00I'm really stressed.
16:02He hung in there, man,
16:03and I think that's what you got to do.
16:05You got to get over the Paul Sr. hump,
16:07and then, you know,
16:09it's a little easier after that.
16:12I'm a pretty hot-headed guy.
16:14Always have been.
16:16The difference today is I realize it right away,
16:18you know,
16:19and I was wrong.
16:20You know,
16:21you shouldn't talk to anybody like that,
16:23you know?
16:24My wife wouldn't let me get away with that,
16:26that's for sure.
16:27But, you know,
16:28I realized I was wrong,
16:29you know,
16:29and I apologize.
16:30You know,
16:31people aren't perfect.
16:32I'm not perfect,
16:33you know?
16:34It's who I am,
16:35and I try to do the best I can
16:39after I screw up.
16:41You know,
16:41hopefully,
16:42you know,
16:43moving on from there,
16:44it seems that we have a better relationship.
16:45Well,
16:46I'm just saying
16:46I apologize for antagonizing you.
16:50You didn't antagonize me.
16:53Well,
16:53I did electrocute you,
16:54though.
16:56You did?
16:57Sorry,
16:57it's a wash.
16:58Yeah,
16:59that didn't help.
17:01And now my hands are wet.
17:02Why don't you come over here
17:02and weld this thing up?
17:12Yesterday,
17:12we had a lot of difficulty
17:14putting the rear fender on,
17:15which we shouldn't have
17:16because we usually don't.
17:17End result was it came out good.
17:19We got the front end on,
17:20we got the fender on.
17:22Drew did a really good job
17:25on the exhaust.
17:26Got to go to work.
17:27Yeah,
17:28I gave Anthony a call.
17:29He came over right away,
17:31and, you know,
17:32he looked at it,
17:32and, you know,
17:34Anthony's just good
17:35with everything that we do.
17:37And then,
17:37this is the ring rolled piece
17:39that I got,
17:39okay?
17:40So you get this up there,
17:42and you're going to cut this in half,
17:44and you're going to put it on here,
17:45you're going to sleeve it into here.
17:46and then leave it,
17:47and then let it go
17:48where I want it to go.
17:49Yeah, perfect.
17:50Okay?
17:50Yeah, perfect.
17:51I mean,
17:52the only thing that we got left
17:54is mounting the front caliper.
17:56I'm not so sure
17:57how that's going to move.
17:59The bars
18:00and the handlebars.
18:01Yeah.
18:02Let's drop it down
18:03for a second.
18:04So that's good.
18:05That's good.
18:05That's good.
18:06Where my hand is here,
18:08like this,
18:11that's probably...
18:12It's good.
18:13Your wrist is pretty straight.
18:14Your elbow's good.
18:15They're going to be, like, out.
18:18You want them that long?
18:19Well, they're going to be,
18:20like, 40 inches wide or so.
18:22I'm just wondering
18:23if the rise is too high.
18:24I'll have to cut it here,
18:26slug it back a little bit like that,
18:27get the curve,
18:28and then at this,
18:30where it gets straight up,
18:31right here,
18:31where the control will have to be.
18:33Right.
18:33And then we'll just kick it forward.
18:35Okay.
18:36You know what I mean?
18:36Yeah, yeah, yeah.
18:37And then drop this down an inch in half.
18:38When I get back from once,
18:39this better be done.
18:40All right.
18:42You heard that, Casey?
18:43You got it.
18:44I'm kind of used to it at this point,
18:46which makes it a little bit easier.
18:48I think if anyone else came in here
18:49and heard the way he talks,
18:50would definitely be put back a little bit.
18:53Honestly,
18:54I think the reason why
18:56there's always so much tension
18:57is because there's not a woman in the room,
18:59because I feel like
19:00if any woman was in the room
19:02with the arguing that goes back and forth,
19:04it's comical.
19:04It's like,
19:05I don't know.
19:08Very interesting,
19:09the things that they get mad
19:10and heated over,
19:11and then it's like that
19:12and done and over with.
19:13Yeah, it's a lot better day today.
19:15Yeah, we were kind of
19:16butting heads a little bit,
19:17but, you know,
19:17we talked it out,
19:18and, you know,
19:19everything's good,
19:20so back to work as usual.
19:35Yeah.
19:36I can live with that.
19:38All right.
19:40Very nice.
19:41Yeah.
19:44Okay, Maestro.
19:46It's like you're busy
19:46doing something.
19:47You know what I mean?
19:48I'm Dr. Dominic Tenari.
19:50I have a practice
19:51up in Spring Hill, Florida.
19:52Just enjoy taking care of people,
19:54and if I can take care of them,
19:55they're like family to me,
19:56so anything I can do to help.
19:57We're kind of like brothers
19:59in a sense, you know,
20:00and he's a real deal guy, you know.
20:02It doesn't matter what's going on
20:04or what's going down.
20:06He's there,
20:07and so there's not a lot of people
20:09I can count on like that.
20:10We'll let all the life's in there.
20:11Oh, good.
20:14Make sure you're all
20:15decent up in there.
20:18Things weren't going as well
20:19as we expected.
20:20I think we overcame
20:20the couple obstacles we had.
20:22Things are going well now.
20:23Drew's finishing up welding
20:24on the bike,
20:25finished tearing it down,
20:26and hopefully can get everything
20:27out to paint and powder cord
20:28in the morning.
20:44So we're finally breaking down the bike.
20:47Right now, we got it all the way
20:48down to the frame.
20:49Drew's got to still do some welding on it.
20:51A lot of it's done,
20:52but he's still got to finish welding that off.
20:54He's got to finish welding the gas tank off.
20:56This is purple.
20:57Okay.
20:58And then whatever you would decide on,
21:00because it's going to get covered.
21:02You're only going to really see
21:03that much of it.
21:03Okay.
21:04So if you want to do it in black,
21:05purple, whatever you want to do that in.
21:06That's fine.
21:06Whatever you've got in the gun
21:07is fine for that.
21:08All right.
21:08Yeah, let's put this in first.
21:10I want to just put this in the back seat.
21:11You got to go in the back seat.
21:12All right.
21:12Got it.
21:14Here, if you want to set it.
21:15There you go.
21:15I'll get you in.
21:16All right.
21:16Let me get on the side.
21:17Yep.
21:21We went to Enclave Motorsports.
21:23I did it once before,
21:25but this was a whole totally different trip, man.
21:35Hey, what's going on?
21:36What's up, man?
21:37We're going to go upstairs,
21:38give you a quick description
21:39of the driving program you're going to be doing
21:41and all the ramp-to-ramp jumps
21:43and hoops of fire that you have to do?
21:45That's why you signed the waiver.
21:48Come on upstairs.
21:49Let's get you started.
21:53Mike, that should be the car
21:54that we have at the crew house.
21:56I know.
21:57Right?
21:57Yeah.
21:58It was the neighborhood.
21:59Everybody there would like me more.
22:00It might take a little while to get to work.
22:02That's okay.
22:06Be careful, Mike.
22:07You got my daughter in the car.
22:17You got my daughter in the car.

33:26Il y a surtout pour la photo.
33:28Oh, ouais.
34:19Very nice
34:19Ken outdid himself
34:20A lot of people are not crazy
34:26About purple but I've always liked it
34:27I was telling Christian
34:29I did a purple bike for somebody
34:31I didn't like it and I wound up keeping it myself
34:33The color contrast is phenomenal
34:35And again you know it's just another
34:37Great paint job that
34:40Ken's done
34:40So I'm really excited
34:43To you know get these
34:44We should be able to mount these on today
34:47And yeah
34:48I'm really happy with it
35:24Nice fit
35:26That's our boy
35:28That's our boy
35:29It's a good fit
35:32Oh does this go on this side of the frame
35:35One goes down and one goes on top
35:38That's what the f*** it was
35:39Oh here we go
35:41I wasn't here when you finished it man
35:43That's my excuse
35:44It goes like this
35:49We were trying to match them down there right
35:52I got it
35:56If we made that work
35:58That would have been pretty impressive
35:59Yeah
36:00You know what I mean
36:02We're about this afternoon
36:03So get your gear
36:05Light that f*** up
36:21This side's not spark
36:32How you doing boy
36:33Hey man
36:34Huh
36:35Any particular name you want today
36:37Chuck
36:38Chuck's good
36:39Chuck
36:40Chuck
36:43As long as we're gas in it
36:44It'll shit fire up
36:45I smell the gas
36:45Yeah
37:04Fire it off immediately
37:07Like probably quicker than
37:08The last four, five, six bikes that we did
37:11Fire it off
37:11And it actually sounded good
37:13I don't think Christian had to adjust the carburetor
37:16I don't think too much at all
37:16But we'll get it
37:18You know
37:19I'll go over the bike
37:21And then we'll take her out for a spin
37:28That looks really nice
37:29It fired right up
37:30Sounded good
37:31So it should be good to go
37:33Yeah
37:34So the night before
37:36The unveil
37:37It wouldn't start
37:50Spark
37:50This side's not sparking
37:54Christian went through the whole
37:56System of what
37:57He thought the possibilities were
37:59And he
38:00Believe me when I tell you
38:01He knows
38:02He's a good mechanic
38:03Christian
38:04Good with electric
38:05He worked for me for a long time
38:07And
38:08He stayed probably another two and a half hours
38:11He was not leaving until he got it
38:22There was getting too much voltage
38:23Dropped to the ignition module
38:25While cranking
38:26This was going below 12 volts
38:27And when I ran a direct lead
38:29From the battery hot
38:30To the ignition module
38:32It'll fire right up
38:32When it's getting full juice
38:34So it was one of those things
38:35Of course it happens
38:37You know
38:38At whatever hour of the night
38:39It is right now
38:40And the bike's
38:41You know
38:41Going out tomorrow
38:47You know
38:48I think people
38:48They have no idea
38:49What to expect
38:50They get a whole different vision
38:52Other than the one
38:53That they had before
39:00We had the opportunity
39:01Here to see what was going on
39:04And I was fascinated
39:05I could have stayed here all day
39:07To see the great work
39:08That you're doing
39:09And I hope that this bike
39:10Will bring more awareness
39:12So that we can have
39:13More research
39:14Development
39:15And let's find a cure
39:16For Alzheimer's
39:17And give everybody
39:18Their memory back
39:19Because that's all we have
39:22So you guys ready
39:24To see the motorcycle
39:41So we just got done
39:42With the Alzheimer's unveil
39:43And it went great
39:44The crowd was awesome
39:45The bike came out
39:46Paul riding it
39:47It sounded amazing
39:48Coming up the hill
39:49You just saw the purple
39:50And teal coming up
39:51And it was amazing
39:52Leo loved it
39:53Everybody loved it
39:54Leo said he just
39:55Always wanted to honor him
39:57His father was this
39:57Brilliant writer
39:59An amazing human being
40:00And it also bring awareness
40:03To Alzheimer's
40:05And dementia
40:05What an amazing bike
40:06I think we're going to
40:08Strike up so many conversations
40:09Get people involved
40:10Another one of a kind
40:11From OCC
40:12And I think we knocked
40:13It out of the park
40:14You can see on the people's faces
40:16How excited
40:17And emotional it is
40:18For them
40:19So when that happens
40:21I always feel that we did our job
40:23I really thank OCC
40:25For participating in this event
40:27We are glad to be part of this
40:29This whole endeavor
40:30I really love that you guys chose us
40:33To be part of this
40:34And I'd like to see where this stays
40:37Actually this quote
40:39Until Alzheimer's is a memory
40:40Is in my email signature
40:42So every time I send a message to someone
40:44That's the message that I'm sending out
40:46So I'm so excited
40:47That the same message
40:48Is going to be on this bike
40:49Going all along the country
40:50The audience here is so engaged
40:53You know this is something
40:54Close to their heart
40:55They're working every day
40:57To make Alzheimer's a memory
41:01OCC
41:02That was weak
41:03Yeah
41:07OCC
41:09Until Alzheimer's is a memory
41:13Like Alzheimer's a memory
41:13I know this is one or three
41:14I know this is a memory
41:20If pensions
41:24To counterfeud
41:24Or Pillow
41:25I can eat
41:25Forrest
41:25Now
41:25I can go
41:25I want that
41:25To start
41:25Another
41:25Communication
41:25You know it
41:25You know it
41:26You know it
