04:01So we're all ready to по.
04:02We've been it and serve on every Monday to the checklist.
04:03Well let's open up all of our morning什麼 why
04:04ृ.
04:05welcome to Beyond The Tape.
04:06I'm your host, Mark Bossand, welcome viewers across Trinidad and Tobago and of course our global viewers.
04:12global viewers. Two days before the long weekend, and of course, the TTPS and the media still
04:17continue to work while everybody else looks forward to the long Easter weekend coming
04:21up. Of course, some people are traveling, some people probably just going across to
04:25the sister isles as well. Wherever you go, please, we encourage you to be safe. And
04:31of course, today with us is Acting Sergeant Kevin Greenidge of the Community Oriented
04:37Police in the unit. Welcome, sir. How are you? Good afternoon, Mark. Good afternoon. Once again, a pleasure to be here. I like how you started with safety and vigilance for the long weekend. You know, we love to revel, we love the excitement, we love the beaches and so on. And we have to ensure that we are safe and return safely to all of us. Yes, certainly. And I know, you know, with the youth club up in the Northern Division there, I know you have a handle up there. I know there are probably
05:07a lot of activities planned for the Easter break for the children from all different age groups. Definitely. When we started two Saturdays ago, we use sports a lot. We use sports a lot to engage and encourage membership, right? And then we use the activities of sport to try and recondition minds and modify, positively modify behavior.
05:34So, two weeks ago, we had a tournament for adults. Right. Adults called Money in the Pot. Right. And the trophies actually shaped like one of those school pots. And all the teams that came in had to put $500 in the pot. Winner takes all. We want to congratulate the team from the West Valley Boys.
05:57All the boys. Came all the way from Pity Valley to win $4,000 cash. Oh, nice. From in the pot. Right. It is, of course, utilized to engender that feeling of public trust and camaraderie in the police. Right.
06:12Right. Right. We had even police officers participated in the football. So, they were able to show up their skills or not, as well as engage positively, climbing, talking with residents from communities all over Trandombego that participated.
06:29I saw the money in the pot there for a minute. I thought it was real flames there. I said, I'll have money to play. No. I wish we did.
06:37Yes. But, Sid, it's a very interesting, you know, concept, of course, and encouraging persons to come out and be part of that building. Sports always build that kind of camaraderie and companionship.
06:50And, obviously, you know, it helps the younger ones to interact with others that they meet from different areas and get a handle and understanding of what they might be going through in terms of something differently to another area and being able to have a conversation about it as well.
07:08Most definitely. We always speak about music being the universal language, but sport is also a universal language.
07:16Right. Right. And it is one of the periods nationwide. We see we come together and it doesn't matter, party, race, creed. We just support the red, white, and black.
07:28Yes.
07:28Right. So, we're trying to give the children that sense of patriotism, teamwork, and understanding their role and function in their team, their strengths and their weaknesses and so on. And it has been bearing a lot of fruit.
07:42This looks like, where is this? In the Oropun area?
07:44That's Oropun Gardens, yeah.
07:44Right. And I know that you have done a lot.
08:08What's any last?
08:09What's any last?
08:14We're going to start over that good show intro. They probably want a break.
08:23Awesome.
08:30Okay. So, it seemed like we had, you know, some kind of power outage there, but we apologize for that breaking transmission, of course.
08:38And you were talking about the programs, of course, and you being in that area there intrinsically.
08:46Yeah.
08:47And what are some of the planned activities going forward within the last, within the coming days, that is, for the children?
08:55Okay. So, for the entire Northern Division, all the police who club with clubhouses continue to do what we do every vacation.
09:05We have something called Operation Safe Space.
09:08Right. A lot of these children come from single parents' homes, and there is a challenge with supervision.
09:16So, the club leaders within the Northern Division open their clubs and their hearts, and the club itself becomes a surrogate home for these children.
09:27Right. So, it's their safe space.
09:29And the reason, Operation Safe Space, they cook, they eat, they involve themselves in, it's like an informal camp.
09:35Yes.
09:36Right. A home away from home.
09:38And what this does is that our observation before practicing or engaging in this Operation Safe Space is that there's a transitional period when school reopens where we have to fight to get back order in the schools.
09:53Right. But when these children remain in a controlled environment throughout the holidays, the transition back into school is much easier and much quicker.
10:03Right.
10:03Yeah. So, that's one of the activities. We have some of the clubs includes WPC Jocelyn in the Brazil, San Rafael, WPC Ross in the Trinity Dinsley, WPC Lewis in Maloney.
10:18We have WPC Roach and myself in the Open Police Club and several others, right, where the children are there daily engaging in activities.
10:32Right. It could be a little stressful, a little exciting, but it is good to know that we know where they are.
10:38They are not in the hands of the gangs and the criminals.
10:40They're not engaging themselves in any of the various activities.
10:43They are, in fact, in a safe space, as I said.
10:46Yeah, certainly. And I know we really want to commend you guys, you know, what each of you all do, keeping these youths on the straight and narrow path and teaching them all they need to know, not just about life, but about camaraderie and teamwork and so on.
10:59Those are very important qualities as you get older to be able to understand when you transition into the workplace as well, where you will be able to apply some of these skills.
11:10Of course, because even in the workplace, you meet various personality types and you have to find out the way and means in which they get along.
11:18So, as then, show that there's productivity.
11:20Yes.
11:21All right.
11:21Additionally, on Good Friday, we see our under-12 football team from the European Police Club competing against several teams from across the country in the Easter Fiesta football tournament.
11:36Usually, you don't hear under-12 playing for cash prizes, but the first prize of this tournament is $5,000.
11:43Second prize is $3,000.
11:45And the third prize is $2,000.
11:47The entire $10,000 prize, cash prize, came courtesy of Mr. Inshan Salamad of Better Business, Triondebago, who has been an ally for the club for the entire year.
11:59We really want them to know that we appreciate him.
12:03Better Business, Triondebago, speaks of an avenue in which young entrepreneurs can go on online.
12:10I think we spoke about it prior.
12:11Yes, we did.
12:12And obviously, we want to commend him for his continued effort in encouraging the youths and contributing in the way he does.
12:20All right.
12:20Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:22Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:22Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:23Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:23Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:24Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:25Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:26Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:27Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:28Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:29Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:30Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:31Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:32Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:33Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:34Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:35Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:36Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:37Let's take a look now at our headlines.
12:38So those are some of the headlines within the past 24s and we continue to see the
13:08police's engagement in trying to get firearms off the street.
13:13We had a headline there, somebody will sell what a loaded firearm and I know the figures
13:17as of Sunday was 205 firearms, quite a haul for a very short period of time, 105 days
13:25and I know the commissioner hoped to get to that number of around 240 but even if it's
13:31really a really considered effort by the police to continue their drive to get illicit firearms
13:38drugs and persons who are involved in criminal activity off the streets.
13:43What stands out for me as well Mark is that we are seeing a lot of teenagers being arrested
13:48and charged for firearm offences and unless we really increase our efforts to get it right
13:55with our youth, we are in a challenging position, right?
14:00Hence the reason why we are asking parents, our citizenry.
14:04It don't have to be a police group club, it doesn't have to be a police group club but
14:08let us get our children involved in positive activities, give them options to the gangs
14:14that I'm romancing them every day to join and become a part of it.
14:18Yeah, that's a very powerful message because as you said we are seeing and they don't get
14:24these firearms by themselves most times, it is handed to them by somebody, an adult, which
14:30you know, you do a particular favor and you're paid a particular sum of money, you know?
14:38So we hope for that, you know, those numbers will drop and decrease and the young persons
14:44out there listening, you know, there is a life outside of crime that you can pursue and you
14:50can be successful, especially if you have a talent, or even if you want to learn something
14:55new, you know, go to one of the police youth clubs and, you know, engage with them and
15:00they might be able to help you to find your untapped talent.
15:03Most definitely.
15:05All right, we're going to take a short break and we'll be back.
15:07Stay with us.
15:08The following is a paid political advertisement.
15:26At the age of 12 years old, I attended Bishop Anstley High School.
15:31At the time, I didn't have access to a laptop and my mom couldn't afford it.
15:36But thankfully to the UNC government, I was able to have access to one and it was so much
15:43easier to not have to worry about setting in my assignments on time.
15:48I'm so grateful.
15:50Thanks, Anticam.
15:51When UNC wins, everybody wins.
15:57That was a paid political advertisement.
15:59Disasters can happen at any time and seconds can be the difference between life and death.

17:38The Express.
17:38The Express.
18:08It's an instant fiesta.
18:13Good Friday.
18:14Get ready for an effort.
18:15What's going on?
18:19Slems.
18:22Yes, I can hear them saying, why stop living in the past?
18:26Where can I find that energy, the raw, raw magic that comes down from the grassroots?
18:32Yes, you are from a place where soaker, the resounding power.
18:35You could feel any time, any hour sunshine or summer.
18:40You will feel it tiny when you look, and it reads like a story.
18:43I come from when grung used to carry it.
18:47We used to carry it when it grung used to carry it.
18:49We used to carry it when it grung used to carry it.
18:52We used to carry it when it grung used to carry it.
18:55You all sit in a car in a tournament there, boy.
18:57I know you were talking about it earlier,
18:59but I'm sure that ad would pique the interest of a lot of youngsters out there across the country.
19:04Definitely. We have been getting calls even from children in primary schools
19:08asking to join a team.
19:10And we are explaining to them that it's not to join a team,
19:14but it's to bring your team to represent the school, the primary school, whoever,
19:18with the opportunity, of course, with the cash prize.
19:20It's very rare we hear of children under 12 playing competitive football for a cash prize,
19:27so we're really trying to blaze a new trail,
19:30and it should also assist with new development in football,
19:34which would benefit our country as a whole.
19:36How many teams are you looking at so far that have registered for the tournament in question?
19:42Right. So due to the fact that it's a one-day tournament,
19:45and we have a challenge with lighting, we're looking at 12 teams.
19:50Which will give us three groups of four.
19:52Right.
19:53Right.
19:53Wrong Robin, and then, of course, you move out to the knockout phase.
19:56And due to start at approximately what time?
19:588 a.m.
19:59Wow.
19:59That's particularly for the...
20:00Yeah, we need to...
20:01I'll still be in my bed.
20:02Light.
20:03Right.
20:03We really need to organize light.
20:06Hopefully one day our facility will have lights of its own where we can not worry about time.
20:11But as soon as we have to take in the consideration
20:14that we do not want the tournament to go into darkness.
20:17Yes, certainly.
20:18And, of course, for those persons who are willing to sponsor in the future,
20:24maybe some lights, the assistants have some lights at that particular ground in the urban area
20:29would go a long way in promoting, you know, sometimes a little later the tournaments.
20:34Definitely.
20:34So we look forward to that as well.
20:37And we just want to take you now to a road exercise involving licensing officers and police officers
20:46as they continue their exercise in the San Rafael area a couple days ago.
20:51Good morning, ma'am.
21:00I'm out of vehicle officers from License in Karani.
21:03All right.
21:04So this is my ID, right?
21:06My identification, right?
21:08So as you can see, this morning we are doing a...
21:11That's like a road check we're doing.
21:13We come out here today to inform the public of you need to have any offenses if you have it,
21:18if you have any on your vehicle, right?
21:21So the driver's permit and the insurance, right?
21:23The vehicle impact.
21:25Right.
21:25Nice.
21:26Let me see.
21:28Insurance.
21:29Good.
21:30This.
21:30Good.
21:31Sound the horn for me?
21:33Mm-hmm.
21:34Nice.
21:35Let's put on your hazard light.
21:36I would have noticed that you have two lights affixed to your bumper.
21:46Do you have an authorization letter for those lights, ma'am?
21:51Sorry?
21:52All right.
21:53So the two lights that you have fixed, you have the bumper in the vehicle?
21:57Yes.
21:58So you need to have an authorization letter from the transport commissioner to have those lights.
22:03Huh?
22:06You have to remove it?
22:07All right.
22:08So today, as I say, everything is our learning experience.
22:12You need to have the authorization letter for the lights.
22:14If you do not have it, you need to remove it from any motor vehicle.
22:18Because those lights are 750 and it comes at 3 demerit points.
22:23Do you know how much demerit points it takes to be intended for disqualification?
22:27Right.
22:27So it takes 10 demerit points to be intended for disqualification.
22:31Either way, I get disqualification.
22:34You know, so this is where we come out of the day to do.
22:37Right?
22:38So other than that, everything seems to be clearly getting new vehicle.
22:42You have inspection.
22:44You have the inspection certificate.
22:45Yep.
22:56All right.
22:57So if you do have the inspection certificate on you, I want to inform you that that is required to be in the vehicle.
23:04So just like how you have your driver's permit and your insurance, you must have your inspection sticker and the, um, the certificate.
23:11Because they're both works hand in hand together.
23:13Right?
23:14So have a good day, ma'am.
23:16Enjoy your day.
23:16I am out of vehicle officer Snaggs from license in Canada.
23:30Yeah, that is not a problem, ma'am.
23:32Yeah, driver's permit, insurance.
23:34Nice, on the one for me.
23:37Yeah, it's funny as I like.
23:38Company vehicle, this is your company or you're working for someone?
23:49All right.
23:51You see, everything seems to look good.
23:53So, means that if you're working for a company, you're working for a boss, you always have to make sure that you have insurance.
24:00You have your insurance policy and you have the inspection certificate.
24:04Because if you don't have the inspection certificate on you, you can get a ticket because it works both hand in hand.
24:12Right?
24:13And maybe you might not really want to get a ticket, but we can, we can, someone's the boss that comes to court.
24:20Because it's his vehicle, right?
24:22You ain't gonna want to charge your employee.
24:25We just try nothing.
24:27Right?
24:28But they're just informing you to let your boss know.
24:30Even if he does not want to leave the original one inside the vehicle, then it doesn't have to pay for it.
24:36So, you're only supposed to have your original thing in the vehicle.
24:40Yeah?
24:40At least something to show.
24:42Right?
24:43So, the boat inspection and the certificate, what do you do?
24:48Nice.
24:49Right?
24:50So, rather than that, I've had a decent.
24:52Yeah.
24:53All right.
24:59So, in the first case there, I think a lot of people have the misconception that fog lights are A-OK.
25:07Yeah.
25:07And I know now when you're purchasing a vehicle, if it happens to have that type of lights, they give you something that is signed off by the transport commissioner, so that you have to carry that in your vehicle at all times, so that if they are stopped, you can show that you have been approved to have those types of lights.
25:25Because some of them come with the vehicle.
25:27Right.
25:27It's an authorization letter.
25:29Yes.
25:29And, of course, just like insurance, it remains in the vehicle because it specifically speaks of that specific vehicle.
25:38It's him.
25:38I want to commend the licensing office on his high level of professionalism, courtesy, and the time he took to edify the public in terms of what they were doing around.
25:51Right?
25:51We would like them to keep up the good work as we all seek to change our country and perform our duties with pride.
25:57And dealing with the second one there as well, we saw that, you know, you might be working for somebody, a business, you know, and the man alluded to your boss.
26:09That's not an excuse to ensure that the vehicles that you own, the fleet of vehicles, are in proper working condition, even though it has been driven by somebody else and it's owned by you, your company.
26:22The owner says on you to ensure those vehicles are safe enough and road worthy enough when your employee is using it.
26:30Of course, in the best interest of your drivers and your fleet, you have to ensure that all the prerequisites are met before hitting the road, so to speak.
26:38Right?
26:39So, again, it was an excellent presentation there by the licensing office and alongside trying to be a police service.
26:47And we hope we continue to show that level of professionalism in the lawful execution of our duties.
26:54Yes, certainly.
26:55And we want to encourage motorists, of course, if you haven't had your vehicle inspected, you know, there was a road exercise in that set area as part of the video we showed earlier on early last week.
27:06You know, persons are not adhering to the inspection.
27:10Every five years, once you have to go and get your vehicle inspected, and there is no excuse for it.
27:16Some people might forget, but as soon as you remember the dates, these are things that you should write down so that you don't forget and have it in your vehicle to check.
27:23Right.
27:23It's a period of time.
27:24I mean, we live in an age of technology, right?
27:27So, there are things you can put on your calendar on your phone to give you a gentle reminder, right?
27:31My insurance is coming, expiring soon.
27:34I will need to organize that and so on.
27:35So, we could use technology as well to give us a reminder because life happens, and we know we are presently living a very hectic lifestyle.
27:44So, we could depend on our devices to assist us in getting the job done.
27:48All right.
27:49Okay, we're going to pay some bills, and we'll be back after this.
27:52Stay with us.
27:53Stay with us.
28:23Stay with us.

30:46Welcome back to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host, Mark Gossant, joined today by Acting Sergeant Kevin Greenidge of the Community-Oriented Policing Unit of the Northern Division.
30:57We want to remind you of the numbers to call 623-1711, Extensions 1996 and 1997.
31:06I know we do have a particular feature involving Commissioner, Transport Commissioner, explaining some further information to motors.
31:17So let's take a look at that now.
31:18Good afternoon. We just spoke, right?
31:36Yes.
31:37Do you realize your vehicle is not inspected?
31:41Yes.
31:42Also check your record and saw you got a ticket for inspection last year.
31:46Yes.
31:47Also recognize it wasn't paid?
31:48Right.
31:49So when I went to paid, in all of this trucs that we have misunderstood, started with PNP for a report, right?
31:57With the information.
31:58When I got paid.
32:00So when I went, Mr. Marcos joined and paid me to report the interest budget.
32:06I wanted to call Mr.Pay to ц Aristarева.
32:09When I got married, Mr.Tarrion.
32:12When I got married, Mr.Tarrion.
32:14All right, let me make this simple for you, right?
32:19A ticket could be paid at any Tittipo site.
32:22You simply present a Tittipo site?
32:24Well, when I went to Tittipo, it was tested.
32:27They said that I blocked a Tittipo at Tittipo.
32:30When I went to Tittipo, they told me when I paid NLTX.
32:35When I went and paid NLTX, they said I wanted to pay late on the payment.
32:43All right, let me take your time to Tittipo.
32:48NLCB does not receive payment for these tickets, right?
32:52That's for the whole system, right?
32:54The older ticket will be before May 2020.
32:57So your ticket does not fall within the NLCB category.
33:01I suggest if you need more information on that,
33:03that you visit the Chapman Portman Center Academy, right?
33:06Let me also let you know, in spite of that you received a ticket for inspection in 2023,
33:11you still have not gotten inspection, right?
33:14So what we're saying though is that you have received a ticket and you still have not learned.
33:17If I put it up, you listen to me, right?
33:19So days are there, however, we've taken the opportunity to inform and educate persons about the dangers of the offence they commit.
33:26So it's not my intention to give you a ticket today, but to give you a warning and to advise you to get your vehicle inspected.
33:32Because in the event you have some major defect on this vehicle, you could find yourself in problems.
33:38And not just you, but innocent pedestrians or bystanders or other drivers.
33:42So continuing this offence is not a healthy thing, right?
33:46So I want to advise you when you get your vehicle inspected for your safety, for your family's safety,
33:51and more or less so for your other fellow man's safety, right?
33:54So let's exercise due care and try to get this vehicle inspected by tomorrow, okay?
33:59Because if you are found on the road, you will be penalized.
34:03Because what we will do is simply put a flag on your system so we will know you have been warned, okay?
34:09So try and get it rectified as soon as possible, right?
34:12Do dry safely, do have a good day.
34:14Do dry safely.
34:29Three hundred dollars it takes to get your vehicle inspected.
34:33And you don't even have to go to the licensing office.
34:35There's an authorized inspection base that are sanctioned by the Transport and Licensing Department
34:42that you can go to at a convenient location and get your car inspected.
34:46And we were talking about that even before this feature.
34:49Yes, we were, right?
34:50Again, I want to commend the Transport Commissioner and his team for a job well done.
34:56They say to be forewarned is to be forearmed that the enemy approaches.
35:00But in this case, it's to be forearmed that licensing approaches.
35:04So we would ask all drivers please ensure that we do what is duty bound by us
35:11before we proceed on the nation's road to travel through and from our respective destinations.
35:19Yeah, it's really important because when you think about road safety,
35:22not just about how you drive, but the machinery or in this case the vehicle that you operate
35:28ensuring that its road-worthiness in terms of its brakes, its tires, even the structure of the vehicle
35:35that all these things are important, you know, to avoid injury to yourself and even to pedestrians or other motorists.
35:43It will be unfortunate if because of our neglect we have to live with the fact that we may or me not have taken a life.
35:50Yes.
35:51Right, so of course we're asking drivers let us do the necessary and proceed with due diligence
35:56in terms of the rule of law when it comes to road, the motor vehicles and road traffic act.
36:03And if you looked at the statistics over the last SOE, we would have seen over 16,000 traffic offences detected for 105 days.
36:17There are those who would criticize law enforcement for the numbers of tickets.
36:23But I think it's a more reflection of how lawless we have become as a society, right?
36:28There ought not to be 16,000 offences on the road if we were really adhering to the rule of law in such a small space of time.
36:38And if you do the math, you know, 105 days, 16,000 plus, that's more than maybe 1,200 or so if you want to equate it to days on a daily basis because that's a lot.
36:52And as I said, I think we need to seriously look at, you know, the road would use of your vehicle, ensure your license is up to date
37:01because people are driving with an expired license, they're driving with expired insurance, and if God forbid something happens, they hit someone, there's nothing to be gotten by the other party.
37:13We're also driving with a disqualified license, we are driving under the influence, the law weekend is fast approaching us.
37:19Yes.
37:20And we're asking persons who intend to line and revel to ensure that they have a designated driver.
37:27Do not be found wanting by law enforcement whilst you're trying to enjoy yourself.
37:32That's pretty important, you know, as we go into this long weekend.
37:36But another thing too is that we talk about these expired license and so on.
37:40Now, with this digitization upon us where you can renew your license online, a couple days ago it became something of a reality.
37:50We will follow these very easy steps there guiding you through how to renew your permit when that time comes.
37:56And, of course, you can get some semblance of evidence of that as well.
38:00Right.
38:01So what we are doing is minimizing the bureaucratic red tape to get the things done.
38:05So you don't even have to go and line up anymore.
38:07Yeah.
38:08Right.
38:09There is, in fact, convenient means in which we could abide by the law now.
38:13Right.
38:14So if you end up being prosecuted, you ought not to say, well, there wasn't any opportunity for you to do better.
38:19Yes.
38:20Exactly.
38:21All right.
38:22We have a call on the line.
38:23Caller, good evening.
38:24Yes.
38:25Good evening.
38:26Hello.
38:27Good evening, sir.
38:28Go ahead.
38:29We're hearing you.
38:30Yes.
38:31Yes.
38:32Good evening, Mark.
38:33I want to make a comment on your program this evening concerning the licensing officers and even for police officers, you know, ensuring that the drivers and them are safe on the road.
38:46It's something I've been looking at for the longest while, the white lines on the streets, which is very important.
38:53There's little or none.
38:54And that makes it very difficult to drive.
38:57And I would like to see something like even the licensing officers or even the police officers in their capacity have some sort of system to report these issues on the road.
39:11Maybe the authorities in charge of maintaining the road will quickly listen to them and have these things rectified.
39:20I mean, the police officers and the licensing officers, they are also using the roads and I'm quite sure they experience these same sort of difficulties, you know, in driving with all these guidelines.
39:32Thank you very much.
39:33Thanks a lot, Kola.
39:34I just quickly want to comment.
39:36You know, the Ministry of Works are obviously responsible and I'm sure they have people that actually go out there and have to oversee looking at various roadways in terms of painting, etc.
39:46Infrastructurally, of course.
39:47Signage.
39:48Yeah, and signage.
39:49And, of course, it's a good suggestion that perhaps maybe the police and by extension licensing could become a little more involved in maybe ticketing something and putting it, pushing it to the Ministry of Works so that they are cognizant of that.
40:02Excellent point, Kola.
40:03I'm certain that some of the powers that we are in fact listening, so hopefully we'll see some results in the nearby future.
40:12All right.
40:13We're going to take a short break and we'll be back.

43:23Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
43:38I'm your host, Mark Musan,
43:39joined today by Acting Sergeant Kevin Greenidge
43:42of the Community Oriented Policing Unit in the Northern Division.
43:46And we have a caller on the line.
43:48Caller, good evening.
43:49Good evening, sir.
43:50Good evening, sir.
43:51Just to make your comment on the present situation
43:54in the motor vehicle traffic at Coquilla at Tobago.
43:58Firstly, the chaos that is supposed to be implemented
44:04at various locations of the transport commercial department.
44:08Right?
44:09It is referred to because I understand it.
44:12It is comfortable with motor vehicle traffic at Tobago.
44:16For the first time, the machinery and machinery did,
44:18we could have given assumptions.
44:20But now we cannot give an assumption.
44:22It's so complicated.
44:24So technology now becomes our brain that could manage such procedure
44:29for all vehicles using Trinidad Tobago right now.
44:32Also, for the festive season, people using the rules of Trinidad Tobago
44:37especially, special road traffic or impossible route and highway.
44:42You have to monitor because it has persons now driving.
44:47They don't drive it through Trinidad and Trinidad Road.
44:51They don't drive it license and insurance upon demand properly
44:57and other circumstances.
44:59And thirdly, I would like to know if the chaos during the transference
45:12of the certified copies, is it doing some of the technology
45:22You have to do written proposals, written on subject, like any transformation.
45:29The transformation like, for example, you use the chaos and then it print out that
45:36the other parties have to use, have to sign, or you slip, whether that be
45:41that it will come out of that, or you have to use the form.
45:46The form for the transfer.
45:49Okay.
45:50Or the certified copy.
45:51You still have to use the form.
45:53The only form that is you write out on your arm.
45:57Yeah.
45:58Or subject of writing.
46:00You still have to use this.
46:03Well, we will definitely try to verify that caller.
46:06But I understand what you're getting at in terms of if you, if this is going to be digitized
46:11in some way going forward.
46:13Of course, I know that they have rolled out certain things, but I think it's, it's on a phase
46:18by phase basis.
46:19So we'll have to wait and see.
46:21Yeah?
46:22So, you did raise the point of...
46:25Yeah, an excellent point, of course.
46:27Yeah.
46:28If we are proceeding with technology with everything else, and why not?
46:31I think the word he wanted was the transfer of certified copy, transfer of ownership, where
46:37vehicles are concerned.
46:38All right?
46:39All right.
46:40I will get income, I will communicate with the transport commissioner on some, well,
46:44through the ranks.
46:45Right.
46:46And get the information from him as to, if they have begun or do intend to digitalize
46:52that aspect of their transactions as well.
46:55Yeah.
46:56And it will be very important that, you know, all the motorists are with this new website,
47:02so that they can go on there instead of having to go and line up.
47:05Yeah, definitely.
47:06All right.
47:07You have another call on the line.
47:08Caller, good evening.
47:09Yes.
47:10Caller, good evening.
47:11Hi.
47:12Pleasant.
47:13Good afternoon.
47:14Hi.
47:15How are you?
47:16I am very fine.
47:17Go ahead.
47:18I am...
47:19Good afternoon.
47:21Yes, ma'am.
47:22Just mute your television and you can ask your question quickly.
47:33Okay.
47:34Go ahead.
47:35We are listening.
47:36Okay.
47:37I am calling to say that I am calling because I would like to say I appreciate Mr. Greenidge
47:43a whole lot.
47:44Thank you, ma'am.
47:46Okay.
47:47We try.
47:48And, of course, you know, as an officer of the Trinavigo Police Service, we cannot do
47:56the job without you all.
47:57We really, really need the support of the young public.
47:59So, we are very appreciative of you all as well.
48:02Yes, certainly.
48:03And, you know, as I said, you do, you meet a lot of people every day and then you interact
48:08with a lot of children and their parents.
48:10So, definitely, you know, what you do is very invaluable to the society and, by extension,
48:17you're building the young minds of the future.
48:20We have another caller on the line.
48:21Caller, good evening.
48:22Hello?
48:23Yes, good evening.
48:24Say, go ahead.
48:25You're live and be on it here.
48:26Good day.
48:27I'm trying to get this program for you longer so I can't hear.
48:31I'm a retired police officer, having served 40 years in the Trinavigo Police Service.
48:41In October of 2023, the Minister of Finance said that he had given the police officer,
48:52police service, monies to pay the back pay.
48:56And that back pay will be paid by December of 2023.
49:03I didn't think that was possible.
49:06So, I didn't have a problem with that.
49:10But today is April 15th and retired police officers are still waiting to hear from the
49:20Commission of Police.
49:21Whose favorite word is assiduously.
49:25You already talked about assiduously.
49:28October 2023 to now.
49:31Could that be assiduous?
49:33And whenever you call, you are not getting any proper responses as to the payment of officers.
49:39And let me tell you.
49:40Most of the officers who are waiting are first division officers.
49:44Waiting for their back pay.
49:46Election is coming up.
49:48What will happen?
49:49So I'm asking.
49:50The Commission of Police, I hope that is listening.
49:55What is the position with the back pay for the senior officers after, you know what,
50:0112, 6, 8, going at 19 months?
50:04So why aren't the back pay being paid?
50:07What is the position with the back pay for the officers?
50:11Why use the word assiduously?
50:12Because it is not assiduous, it is not expedious.
50:16What is the position?
50:17That's my comment this evening.
50:19Thank you very much.
50:20Well, thanks.
50:21And I know a lot of officers, retired officers, have been exclaiming about that situation for
50:29the last couple of months and I guess since 2023.
50:33And I know you don't want to put yourself in a position to make any, you know.
50:39I'm almost certain that the powers that be who can in fact give a response would be paying
50:44attention to the program and of course will treat with it in a timely manner.
50:50Yes.
50:51So we're hopeful that those retired officers will be given the outstanding monies.
50:56All right.
50:57So we're going to go to a short break and we'll be back.
51:00Stay with us.

53:51Welcome back to Beyond the T.A. Family host, Mark Bussain
53:58Welcome back to Beyond the T.A. Family host, Mark Bussain
54:14And joined today by Acting Sergeant Kevin Greenidge
54:16Of the Community Oriented Policing Unit
54:19Of the Northern Division
54:20And quite quickly before we go
54:21We have a few minutes
54:22I know you just want to reiterate that point
54:26About, you know, it's election time
54:28And I know that the Commissioner
54:29Acting Commissioner of Police have spoken
54:31About persons on social media
54:34Inciting violence
54:35One person has already been detained
54:37And they're looking at various messages
54:40Not just in a physical sense
54:42But also on social media
54:44Alright, so
54:45The first thing I'd like to tell the public is
54:48No matter the outcome
54:51Life goes on after the general elections
54:53Alright
54:54We as police officers
54:56Will still be required
54:57To execute our lawful duties
55:00To the best of our ability
55:02And so would the entire population
55:04Right
55:06With great power comes great responsibility
55:09And one of the greatest powers we have
55:12Is in fact freedom of speech
55:13Yes
55:14Right
55:14And it's something that we cannot think lightly
55:16Likely we ought to ensure that
55:18We are responsible
55:19When utilizing any form of communication
55:23Ensure that it is somewhat positive
55:25And it does not put us in a position
55:27Where we have regret
55:29Even after the general elections
55:31Because I assure you that
55:32If you are arrested and charged
55:34To leave for an offense
55:35With regards to the campaigning
55:37After the general election
55:40You would still have that court matter
55:41To treat with
55:42Yes
55:42Right
55:43So we need to take that into consideration
55:45Before we decide
55:46To allow our emotions
55:48To write a check that
55:50Our freedom cannot cash
55:52And not just
55:54In terms of insight
55:55In violence
55:56But also in what you say
55:57About persons
55:59That might be deemed
56:00Slanderous
56:02Yes
56:02Or defamation
56:03As the case may be
56:04Of the defamation of Karakna
56:05Right
56:05You do not want to put yourself
56:07In a position
56:08Where you have to find
56:10Money
56:10Things already had
56:11To compensate someone
56:13For destroying their
56:14Their image
56:15Their personality
56:15And so on
56:16Yeah
56:16Right
56:18With lies
56:18So we need to be mindful
56:20Of that
56:20We need to check our facts
56:22Make sure your facts are straight
56:24Before you come forward
56:25In any public domain
56:26And speak ill of anyone
56:28And I think that's
56:29Extremely important
56:30As we
56:30As practicing
56:31Media
56:32Personally
56:33Have to be
56:34Extremely careful
56:35Definitely
56:36All throughout
56:37But especially
56:38At this season
56:39When there are so many things
56:41Being purportedly
56:42Pushed out on social media
56:44And I just want to
56:46You know
56:47Let my colleagues know
56:48We always have to continue
56:49That verification process
56:50Just like the police
56:51When they get
56:52Sitten information
56:52In terms of verifying
56:55That information
56:55Ensuring that it is
56:57Accurate
56:57Before you decide
56:59To act
56:59In some measure
57:00Yes
57:00Right
57:01So there must be evidence
57:02There must be proof
57:03That what the person
57:05Is alleging
57:05Is factual
57:06He who alleges
57:08Must be able to prove
57:09That's what the law states
57:11Yes
57:11Certainly
57:12You know
57:13And I just
57:14I just want you to
57:15With just about a minute left
57:16Just give people
57:17Some direction
57:18On how to care about themselves
57:20In this election period
57:22All right
57:22So as I said before
57:24Life goes on
57:25After the general election
57:27It doesn't matter
57:28At this point
57:29Who is in power
57:30We still have to go to work
57:31We still have to ensure
57:33That our nation is safe
57:35From a policing perspective
57:37Right
57:38So
57:39As a nation
57:41We should
57:41We should live by
57:42Our watchwords
57:44Discipline, tolerance
57:46And production
57:46And ensure that we
57:48Even though we may
57:49Have different political views
57:52It does not
57:53It does not destroy
57:54Relationships
57:55Right
57:56And we ought not
57:56To be so passionate
57:57That we destroy
57:59Family life
58:00Friends
58:00Whatever the case may be
58:01Because of our fallen
58:02All right
58:04Thanks a lot sir
58:05For those
58:06Parting words
58:07Of course
