02:41My story is an Alta story.
02:44I really know I just cared.
02:46It was terrible.
02:47In between a year time, I did that level one.
02:50I completed.
02:50What?
02:51That was so...
02:52That was like a joke.
02:53I'm Alta for a long while.
02:54I'm not lying.
02:55I'm Alta.
02:55I jump out.
02:56I call me challenging.
02:57It was hard, but I fight still.
02:59I started to feel nice.
03:00I started to feel sweet about myself.
03:02Before Alta, I was so nervous.
03:04Never understand a lot of things.
03:06Alta is a nice place to learn.
03:08Like any student in this program, Made in Music, or the other students, will tune and help out that student.
03:17The teachers are very wonderful, which is one thing I love.
03:19The next thing I love about it, it's free.
03:21You can't study what a person is making.
03:24The perception of a person.
03:25You have to focus on what you want.
03:27I am enjoying every moment in Alta.
03:30Today now, I can read, I can write, I can spell.
03:36Get into Alta.
03:37So you can write your story.
03:387-0-8-19-19.
03:54Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
03:56And to our global audience, this is Beyond the Tape.
03:59I'm your host, Whitney Husbands.
04:00And we have entered a brand new week.
04:02A short week at that.
04:04And it's a work week.
04:04It is here.
04:05But not the way we wanted to enter our work week this week.
04:08Because over the weekend, we saw a lot of bloodshed that took place starting on Saturday in Edinburgh 500,
04:14where we saw a Defence Force soldier being gunned down.
04:18And on Sunday, we saw a bloody attack that took place in the Laventhal area, taking three lives in six
04:24hours.
04:24And today, the 16th, in the Kokoreet area, yet another murder.
04:28And all this is happening in an SOE.
04:31We will discuss this and more, of course, today is Monday.
04:34So with that being said, to have the conversation and, of course, give us the tips that we need when
04:38it comes to going into survival mode,
04:40the man, the captain, Captain Ramarat, who is here with me, my course, each and every Monday.
04:44Good evening to you, Sue.
04:46Good evening, Whitney, and a pleasant good evening to our viewers on Beyond the Tape and TV6, by extension.
04:52It's a pleasure to be here once again.
04:54Yes, always happy to be here.
04:54And I'm always happy to be here to share some tips with our viewers with respect to how we keep
05:03ourselves safe.
05:04But I, too, had a look at the weekend news.
05:07And we continue to have bloodshed on our streets and villages and communities.
05:12And certainly that's not the turn we're looking for.
05:16What we're looking for, really, is an improvement in terms of people changing their behaviors and trying to find the
05:24right path to grow themselves properly
05:29and to grow their families in an environment that is conducive to growth and development.
05:35We're not seeing it taking place as quickly as it's supposed to.
05:40And as you spoke about the SOE, we are in an SOE.
05:45The SOE was granted an extension in the Parliament on Friday.
05:50And then, you know, we continue to see murders in our streets and villages.
05:58What are your thoughts on the extension, though?
05:59I thought it was needed.
06:00I have been following the SOE on this program from 2025 until today.
06:09And we've seen that the murders have dropped from a staggering 600-plus to 300-plus.
06:16So that's an improvement.
06:19So the law enforcement continue to credit the work done in the SOE to the reduction.
06:27I mean, some of the work in the SOE takes reduction as well as other strategies.
06:32But, you know, we have to seek ways and means to really keep that murder rate down.
06:41It's been staggering for a long time.
06:43Yeah.
06:43It's almost giving that the persons who are committing the seniors' crimes really don't care if we're in an SOE
06:49or not.
06:49It is clear that we're seeing it any time, any day, any time, any location that is being done.
06:55Yeah, and this is the element in the society that continues to provide problems to Trinidad and Tobago.
07:02Not only problems.
07:04Worldwide, people are following what's going on in Trinidad and Tobago, and it's not a good thing.
07:09And so we still have gangs operating in the country.
07:13We still have persons who've chosen a crime as a way of life and a way to make money because
07:20it's economics at the end of the day.
07:22And they're solving some of their grievances by simply pulling out a gun and shooting someone.
07:29No anger management skills or no anger management counseling.
07:36And all these things are provided for these persons, yet still we have them committing murders throughout the country.
07:43Yeah, no respect for life, but one team that definitely has respect for life, of course, is Captain and Hunter
07:49Search and Rescue Team,
07:50where you were able to rescue someone.
07:53With regards to, I understand, we have a yellow alert when it comes to the high winds.
07:56Where are we with that?
07:57All right.
07:58So, yes, before we go to that rescue, Whitney, I just want to remind the public that we are in
08:03a high wind alert as well as a hazardous seas alert.
08:07Now, with the high wind alert, a roof was blown off in Freeport today as well as there was a
08:15fallen utility pool across the highway in Point 14.
08:18But we have to look at the wind there.
08:21This wind on this tree here, you're looking at it, you're looking like a 40-kilometer-per-hour gust there.
08:28And that was prevalent during the morning period in Trinidad and Tobago.
08:33So, you have to look out for fallen trees.
08:35Keep an eye on your mango tree near your house.
08:38You know, we love our mangoes close to our property.
08:42There are three trees people love.
08:44Pomerang trees, avocado trees, and mango trees.
08:49And you like to keep them close to your homes.
08:51Plum.
08:51Plum trees as well.
08:53Take a look at it and see.
08:54We're on a high wind alert until tomorrow, 12 p.m.
08:58And then with respect to hazardous seas, we do not recommend that you go to your beaches at this time
09:05until the hazardous sea alert has passed.
09:11And that will be until Thursday.
09:12So, we wanted as viewers to keep these hazards in mind.
09:18When you have a hazardous sea alert mixed with a high wind alert, you have to pay attention.
09:24Now, Captain, you said that the alert will be there until the Thursday this week.
09:28That's the hazard of sea.
09:29We have to see.
09:30But when that happens, should you suggest, I'm just asking with your experience,
09:35to not go in until like later on the next week?
09:38Yeah.
09:39And until, I will say until, well, if the weekend meets you and it's discontinued, sure, you can go.
09:45But always pay attention to which beach you're going to.
09:49Go to beaches where you have lifeguards.
09:52And we've done a lot of work on rip currents.
09:55I'm sure by now you're able to spot a rip current.
09:57And that is the cause for the majority of drownings around Trinidad and Tobago on our beaches.
10:04Yes.
10:04Can we speak about the rescue?
10:06And yes, so Whitney, last week he got a distress call.
10:11It was late.
10:12He left 1 p.m., I believe it was Wednesday night.
10:15And the family told us that the 86-year-old father left to go in the garden at 2 p
10:24.m. the day before.
10:25And he never returned home.
10:28And when I spoke to them, it was raining on that day.
10:31So I said to them, we'll be there with you at 6 a.m. in the morning.
10:36And you know when these things happen, families, I got to go to search.
10:40But when Hunter's search and rescue team arrives, this is his daughter here,
10:45we put structure to it.
10:47And this is us moving in a grid formation through his garden.
10:51And after 3 hours and 15 minutes of searching in a structured grid formation,
11:01together with the relatives, we were able to find 86-year-old Michael Ballantyne.
11:07Now, I want to be like him when I get old.
11:1186-years-old, very strong gentleman.
11:13He lost his way.
11:17He fumbled in the back there.
11:19And he was found about 1 kilometer away from his home.
11:23It took us 3 hours to cover that 1 kilometer.
11:27He slept right there on that grass.
11:30He told us he couldn't walk anymore.
11:32So he was creeping on his legs and hands.
11:35And we found him in time.
11:38Many times, Whitney, we found persons in this situation.
11:43We did not find them alive.
11:46And that's why we tried to get out there as quickly as possible.
11:49We were there from 6 a.m. in the morning.
11:51This is the family.
11:52Lots of support.
11:53They were happy that they were able to get, you see the clapping,
11:57that they were able to get their father alive
12:01after a really, really, really good effort and a good search.
12:06And so we're happy that Michael Ballantyne survived.
12:12And when speaking to the family, Whitney, he recovered well.
12:16He went to the hospital.
12:17He suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure.
12:21They had to do some work on that, but he's back home safely.
12:25But like I told the family, keep your eye on him.
12:28He's just like me.
12:30Like hot foot to go in the bush.
12:32To roam and want to do things on their own.
12:33So at least, I mean, in this case, they were able to be alert enough
12:37to realize something was wrong because he will make his trips and be back.
12:42Be back by about 4 p.m. and by 5, 6, you know, they started to, you know.
12:47Yes.
12:47They raised the alarm with us about 11 p.m. the night.
12:51Now, when I open it, shall we mention the shooting incident that took place in Edinburgh 500
12:56where we saw the footage of the fatal shooting of a Defense Force officer,
13:02Soldier Jelani Garcia-Williams, on Saturday, the 14th of March.
13:07When the scene was processed, investigators recovered a pistol along with a magazine
13:11containing 17 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition.
13:15So we know it was not the firearm they came for.
13:20Captain?
13:21Right.
13:21And I read, I'm not, I can't verify this, but I read somewhere with respect to the ammunition
13:28that was used that it had some TTDGFR markings as well as the markings of another unit.
13:35So all that has to be investigated to ensure that, you know,
13:40the investigators get to the bottom of this murder.
13:45So, I mean, we're seeing what is happening and the hardwood, the officers now have to put in
13:50and make sure to find justice because you know it is self-closure for families.
13:54Yeah.
13:54When any situation in this, we're heinous or not, you want us.
13:59You know what, what I think, I cannot stand how these bodies are lying in the streets of Trinidad and
14:04Tobago
14:05and the persons, the perpetrators, they have no care in the world, absolutely no care in the world.
14:12They just set about to take someone's life so easily without a care in the world.
14:18And they're not afraid to throw away their lives in doing so.
14:21Yeah.
14:22Now let's talk about your drivers.
14:23Despite some of the strong and, I mean, I have to say, powerful fears that they put out,
14:31some of the drivers just don't care anymore.
14:32They're still operating how they want.
14:34They do things thinking that it may not affect them in any way.
14:38We could have how many laws in place.
14:40It is still one captain where persons still take the chance because I guess the feeling might get a blight.
14:45Yeah, we take too many risks on the road.
14:48Yes.
14:48And I was addressing someone earlier today and it has to do with maturation and levels.
14:53And you always find the upcoming drivers, the ones without the experience, without that maturity,
15:00trying all sorts of things on your own.
15:02And if they survive that and as they get older, then they begin to see the reason for driving safely
15:10on our roads.
15:11And with that being said, the reason why I brought that up is because, listen to me,
15:16there was an early morning crackdown on Sunday where 10 arrested in early morning DUI crackdown in the Port of
15:21Spain area.
15:22The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Port of Spain Division conducted a driving under the influence operation along Park Street,
15:30Port of Spain during the period of 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
15:36Now, the exercise resulted in 10 persons being arrested for the offense of the breath alcohol exceeding the prescribed limit.
15:45The persons arrested, I want you to listen to the ages, Captain.
15:4835, 41, 40, 33, 37, 37, 41, 60 and 34.
15:55Well, no, no, no, but the 60 is the anomaly.
16:00But I think when I talk about maturation levels, I included that like 50 to 40.
16:06It's beyond that people begin to see reasons.
16:09So I'm not, I'm not shocked that it's 9 between the ages of 31 and 40.
16:14Why do you say that?
16:17That's how men are.
16:18I would know the maturation levels for men.
16:22How are you so sure it was men alone?
16:24Well, correction.
16:26So I shouldn't be broad brushing the men here.
16:29So men are stressed a lot, so they drink more.
16:32They go out and they have a good lime.
16:34I pass through that with me, I will tell you.
16:36I'll be honest.
16:36You're part of you in your days.
16:37Of course.
16:38All right, well, I mean, you're being honest, but at least you had a driver.
16:41Well, at most times, I was always a safe driver.
16:44I'm never a heavy drinker, by the way.
16:46Very good.
16:47That was it.
16:48I'm happy to hear that.
16:49So right now, let's take a look at our updates today for SOE, marking March 16, 2026.
16:54Number of operations, 1,223.
16:58Number of target priority offenders, 497.
17:03Searches conducted, 1,218.
17:06Traffic operations, 681.
17:09Total persons arrested, 502.
17:12Total persons charged, 103.
17:16Firearms recovered.
17:17We're seeing an increase with pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, giving us a total of 30.
17:23Ammunition recovered.
17:24We're seeing an increase with the 9mm.
17:27Also, with the 12 gauge, the 0.380.
17:31Wrongs of 5.56.
17:33And also, we're seeing an increase of the 0.40.
17:37Also, there's an increase of the 0.45, along with the 0.22, giving us a total of 1,053.
17:46And dangerous drug sees, we're seeing an increase of cannabis, grams of cocaine.
17:50And we're seeing, popping back up, ecstasy, which you need to pay attention on.
17:54Now, entering the chat, Molly, Captain.
17:56Molly, yeah.
17:57So, Whitney, you're seeing progress with SOE.
18:01Now, I like it.
18:01Because if you look at the priority offenders, that's a strategy.
18:05That's a crime-fighting strategy that has to continue.
18:08Because as I talk about maturational levels of males, you're looking at improper conduct, right, maybe up to 40, before
18:19reality hits them, right?
18:21So, people will go into jail, come out, commit a crime, go back in.
18:25And they're comfortable with that until a particular age.
18:30So, targeting of priority offenders is important, as well as the seizure of firearms and drugs.
18:37Yes. Right on, let's take a look at what's making today's headlines.
19:31And those were the stories making today's headlines.
19:34We'll take that break and we'll continue with more after this.

22:22Don't drink and drive.
22:41And welcome back.
22:42The phone lines will be open for you to give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 and 1997.
22:49If you're now joining us, I have my co-host each and every Monday,
22:52Monday, sorry, Mr. Rambarat was here with us.
22:55And we're going to dive in more into what is going on with the missing persons as well.
22:59Right.
23:00Whitney, thus far, for the month of March, we've had 11 reports of missing persons.
23:06We were able to locate five, and there are still six outstanding.
23:10Those six persons, Macalon Castillo, who is missing from the Esmeralda Road area in Canopia,
23:18we still have not been able to locate him.
23:22So if you're out there in the Canopia area, and we don't believe he's in Canopia,
23:28we're asking you to please call the Canopia Police Station or 799-1453.
23:35And then, Whitney, we did this last week.
23:38Yes, I remember.
23:39Damien Rees and Alvin Morgan.
23:42Now, I was in touch with Alvin Morgan's wife.
23:46I still haven't been able to get a pity from her.
23:49And I'm in touch with Damien Rees' brother, who happened to be in Tobago when they left.
23:55You know, he didn't know what was going on.
23:57He didn't even know his brother was in Tobago.
23:59So by this afternoon, I'll have a pity of Damien Rees.
24:03But Whitney, today makes it 21 days since they left Tobago.
24:08I've been in contact with the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard every single day.
24:12And they're giving me updates, as well as their counterparts in Grenada.
24:16We've been in contact with Fisherfolk, both in Grenada and Tobago.
24:21They've been conducting searches.
24:23Thus far, we've not found anything.
24:26But I don't give up on fishermen, because I'll tell you why.
24:29There are many stories.
24:30If you Google missing fishermen, you'll see how they survived 30, 40 days on their pierog, right?
24:39Now, we know for a fact they had mechanical issues with the engines.
24:42It was twice, the two encounters.
24:44Yeah.
24:45So I'm thinking now that the boat did not flip.
24:48It had to be that engines, they had engine problems, couldn't repair it,
24:54and they're drifting out somewhere in that open Northern Caribbean Sea area or, you know,
25:00north of Venezuela, Curaçao, Aruba, anywhere down there.
25:05But I'm not giving up on Damien and Alvin at all.
25:08And then we have, we have, we have, we have, oh, yes, we have some information in her hand.
25:19They were supposed to be, we were supposed to be in Port of Spain.
25:23I believe on Saturday we could not make it, so we continue to work with citizens of Grenada and Tobago
25:30to try to locate her.
25:31She's from the Arruca district.
25:33She certainly isn't there now.
25:35She's in the Port of Spain area, so if you have information about this young lady,
25:41please call us at 799-1453 or contact your nearest police station.
25:48And then we have Sherry-Ann Ballantyne and the date on that is correct, Whitney.
25:53She was last seen on the 8th of August 2025 and I am in contact with her brother
26:01and we're working to try to locate her.
26:05But it has been a while, but we'll try our best, true macaque in Lavantyne.
26:10If you have information, please call us at 799-1453 or 555-999 or your nearest police station.
26:19And then we have Anne-Marie Vespri, so hopefully we've asked somebody to visit her home in South Trinidad.
26:30We got some information today on her, so hopefully by the end of later on this evening we'll be able
26:37to declare whether she's okay or not.
26:41So we have hope for Anne-Marie Vespri, we're almost there with this case and hopefully by tonight we should
26:47be able to say that she's safe.
26:49Yes, and once again anyone with information on any of these missing persons, we ask you to please use your
26:54number and contact or you could contact 555-999 to assist in finding the missing persons.
27:00Now, Captain, let's talk about bees. Imagine being bee season, what is going on with bees out here?
27:06Well, the thing about once it's bee season and I declared bee season right here on bee on the tape
27:11and with bee season comes the calls, right?
27:14And we've had four distress calls thus far. And I think I need to explain this because we get a
27:21fear about these.
27:22This is on the gentleman's tree, thus by his yard there. So he called us and I was able to
27:29explain to him, Whitney, that this is a temporary home.
27:33There are workers and a queen bee there. I will explain why just now.
27:37But this is a temporary home. When you find them on your trees in your backyards or inside of your
27:42homes, please don't be too distressed about them.
27:46They become very docile. They're waiting on wood because right now they are drone bees outside looking for a new
27:52home for them.
27:53So they're just resting there temporarily waiting on wood from their field searchers, field searchers like us, who have gone
28:02out to look for a new home for them.
28:05Whitney, bees tend to leave their hives when it's overcrowded. So one queen bee will fly off probably with half
28:12of the population of the hive to try and find a new home.
28:17Or with increasing bushfires, they may become displaced and have to find a new home.
28:22So if you have this, if you see this, don't panic. They are docile at this stage and by the
28:28morning in a couple hours, they will go for themselves.
28:31In this case, the gentleman called me and thanked me and said, what you said was true. By the morning,
28:35they were gone from there.
28:37And additionally, just before I came on the set, we received a call about some bees in the Gullview area
28:46in Gull City, San Fernando, in a pipe.
28:48And so that one we sent our resident. We have a beekeeper on call who works with us and he's
28:55on his way there to help to assist the residents.
28:58So he will remove the entire hive. He will box all the bees. He will take the honey from the
29:06hive as his payment and we'll have a whole set of bees.
29:10So that's how we work. We try to save the lives of bees. Bees are our number one pollinators. They're
29:17very important in our ecosystem and we want to try and save as many of our bees in Trinidad and
29:24Tobago.
29:25So don't kill them.
29:27Don't kill them. But, you know, the one or two, what I would suggest. I don't know. You have a
29:32nine-year-old daughter.
29:33Yes.
29:33So these kids, they tend to have a lot of snacks. You know, they love snacks, sugar.
29:38So sometimes you may throw it in the bendy package in and that will tend to attract one or two
29:44of the honeybees, right?
29:46Now you don't want that around your home. So I wouldn't say anything if you happen to blitz the one
29:52or two to ensure that they don't get on to your daughter or you, right?
29:56So that's reasonable. That is expected.
29:59That's the third back.
30:01Yeah. And the stripes on the back.
30:03The stripes on the back are yellow.
30:05Yeah. So you find, like, around schools a lot, you get a few coming in. Not an entire hive, but
30:13they know how to source that sugar, right?
30:17They know just send it and get taste.
30:19So we wouldn't do anything. Make sure you protect your daughter or your child. And in schools, well, the janitors
30:27know what they have to do.
30:29Is this true? I was told if you kill one, it alerts the others. It's like it gives off a
30:33signal or some sort.
30:36If they're near the hive.
30:38Okay.
30:39If they're near the hive, all right? And one, one, one, they will swarm you if you're near the hive.
30:44And you have to try your best to get rid of them. They will swarm you.
30:49However, if there's one far away from the hive, there's no way they could be alerted.
30:55Interesting. But then how you know, should you stand still? I'm just asking in survival mode here.
30:59Should you stand still if they come at you?
31:01Well, they go based on vibration.
31:04No, yeah. So they're attracted to noise.
31:06So the simple noise you make by walking towards the hive.
31:09Let's say you don't know there's a beehive in the pipe.
31:13Just by disturbing them walking, knocking your cutlass, cutting bushes, it will alert you.
31:18But they begin to make a noise, right?
31:21A buzzing sound before that attack comes.
31:25And you have to be alert now to listen to hear, say, hey, there's bees here.
31:30I need to step back. I need to retreat.
31:32They will give you that warning signal.
31:34Yeah, it's not the wakaman.
31:35Yes.
31:36It's the bees.
31:38All right, ladies and gentlemen, let me take that short break and we will continue with more after this.
31:53How much does a funeral go for these days?
31:55I guarantee the figure you're thinking is way smaller than the actual cost.

38:15Easter season is approaching a lot of families will want to take their
38:19children out because SCA is completed you're talking about 18,000 children
38:23and then you have the end of the term exam you have lovely weather and we want you
38:31to take your children outdoors but please follow me on the tape for all the tips but
38:36make sure that if you're going out there that you spend some time to think about
38:42the safety of your family I want to share a tip with you all yesterday we were
38:48outdoors with a filming crew and I had to dispense two motrin two Panadol I also
38:59had to utilize my safety kit that has a safety pin and a tweezer to get out the
39:07tone from someone's knee so to spend some time always spend some time get your rope
39:14make sure you put it in your vehicle whether you're going to a river or to
39:18the beach wherever you're going Singapore there are floating objects there
39:25how do you call them I am trying to remember the name
39:27floaties yeah floaties selling make sure if you're going to the beach you get those you carry your rope and
39:33you keep your eye on your children in all beaches it's best to be in knee height water that's the
39:38safest thing I
39:39can recommend that you beat in knee height water and that you money monitor your
39:44children take a read up of rip currents if you're going on hikes your hike leader
39:49will be very versed he should have a hospital with him like I do we have a
39:54hospital we carry in a backpack and and make sure that you you wanted the the hunt

41:17you never met a bad police officer yet I have had great experiences with police
41:22officers as I have I in in the work that we do the volunteer work that we do I mean
41:29we in contact with police officers we know that there there are few around you
41:34know of course but really and truly we get a hundred percent cooperation go down
41:40good attitude from them hard work and we get them to go beyond the call of duty so
41:47my experience is similar and our team's experience is similar to the lady who
41:53called we've had really really good experiences and Whitney I always say with
41:59respect to police officers you you have to treat people like professionals so
42:04the person so responsible for paying police officers they need to look at that as
42:09well because they always go beyond the call of duty they place their lives at risk and
42:13therefore the work that they do must always be commensurate with the pay packet they receive
42:19we definitely commanding those officers who work extremely hard and continue to be great officers while they wear the uniform
42:25when we take that break we'll be back

44:16You know, Richard!
44:17Good day, Trader in Tobago.
44:19A safer nation begins with you standing up, speaking out, and doing your part.
44:25As your commissioner of police, I am prepared to do my part.
44:29Are you prepared to do your part?
44:30Get on board.
44:32Are you on board?
44:32I am Bishop Ezekiel Clark, president of the Coover Police Station Community Council, and I am proud to say that
44:41I am on board with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in their fight against crime in Trinidad and Tobago.
44:48I am Panness Dean Galston, and I am Panness Dean Galston, and I am Panness Johan Chukri, and crime prevention
44:52is everybody's business.
44:57Hi, I am Panness Dean Galston, attorney at law, and team lead for the attorneys for the TTPS Community Justice
45:03Clinic.
45:04We support the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in the fight against crime.
45:08Crime prevention is everybody's business.
45:10I am Shiraz Khan, I am a farmer.
45:13I support the TTPS in the fight against crime.
45:16My name is Maldek Maraj, president of Bishop Warner Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
45:21Crime fighting is everybody's business.
45:24We are all in board.
45:39And we are back.
45:40Remember, the 4-9s are still open for you to give us a call.
45:42Now, Captain, could we head to Rio Claro a little bit?
45:45Oh, yeah.
45:46So, I did mention that we were out yesterday.
45:49So, a film company that does documentaries for Trinidad and Tobago in terms of its outdoor species contacted us with
45:56three requests.
45:57What are they saying?
45:58They wanted us to do some wildlife training with them, wilderness training, management training with them.
46:05One, because they go out into the bushes, and secondly, they challenge us to take them to two sites that
46:11persons in Trinidad and Tobago would have never seen.
46:14And I want them to say this before we show what we have to show, but I am happy to
46:18share it with the viewers and be on the team.
46:20What are the two?
46:22The first one is the Rio Claro saltwater volcano located in the dense forest of Trinidad and Tobago area, Rio
46:29Claro.
46:30It is not accessible by the average person.
46:34What you see running there is saltwater mixed with hydrocarbon on an elevation of about 335 feet in the air.
46:43What?
46:44It's one, a unique feature, one of the, we don't think it exists anywhere in the world.
46:49And if you watch carefully, I hope our drone, ah, you saw the bubble there, right?
46:53That's saltwater coming, and it's forming a surface that we were able to walk on the surface.
47:00It's what you call tufa or calcium carbonate, which is a deposit from my saltwater mixing with limestone rock, which
47:11is way beneath.
47:11The glare on the left?
47:12Yeah, yeah, you're seeing that big bubble there.
47:14Yes.
47:15So we had to use the drone to capture these images.
47:18Now, you cannot go there on your own, Whitney.
47:20You have to contact Hunter's switch and rescue team.
47:23It's team's captain, knows the location.
47:26You can't walk on that, right?
47:27One.
47:27Yeah, we walked on it.
47:28We did.
47:29Yeah, we walked on it.
47:30It's too far.
47:31It's a hard coral-like formation deposit, right?
47:36You can drink it?
47:37We had the crew tasting the water to confirm, so the salinity there, you see right there where that big
47:44bubble occurred, the salinity is 3.2.
47:48Sea salt water is 3.5.
47:52Okay.
47:52And if you want an explanation from a geological perspective, that has trapped seawater from millions of years ago.
48:01That is now coming up through, you know, natural pressure, the surface of the earth, and it's a combination of
48:08hydrocarbon and things.
48:10Now, the reason why it's inaccessible is simply because the area is famous, has always been famous for trap guns,
48:19illegal hunting, marijuana plantations.
48:22So, I have to make sure that I speak to the relevant persons in the area to clear the area
48:28for us to go in.
48:29Rich's line point.
48:29But it is, you know, I did say I would want to bring it to the viewers.
48:34This is beautiful.
48:35The viewers on Beyond the Tape to see this firsthand.
48:41It's an address check, by the way.
48:44Anything that is, you know.
48:46And remember, it's two sites they asked for, right?
48:49Right.
48:49So, it meant hiking, getting to that site, filming, doing a training inside, and things like river crossing, showing them
48:59how to cross rivers, get over logs and stuff, and then go to another site.
49:04Yesterday, you know.
49:05Right, but we go into that next site.
49:07Quickly, before we go to that next site, any of the, any unique living organisms would be found in there?
49:13Hopefully, by next Monday, I could get it.
49:15Okay.
49:15Because there were guppies living on the slope where the salt water runs, so we were able to get a
49:22film there.
49:23But I didn't get it this morning or during the day.
49:25But I would share it with you next week, Monday.
49:28There are guppies living there.
49:29And that in itself is evolution.
49:32Yes.
49:32Before we go to the next location, I understand we have a caller on the line.
49:34Caller, good evening.
49:36Yes, let's hear you with me.
49:37Good evening.
49:39And the horseman.
49:41Yes, Captain.
49:43Captain Ramakar.
49:44Yes.
49:46Mr. Minister, I believe we could trap that, that, that, that, that, you know, from the ground,
49:51they have made some kind of, some kind of natural gas or something.
49:55I believe that some value.
49:57Anybody ever do our research, they're really amazing.
49:59Anybody ever do our research on that, what if it's used for?
50:03I'll just know.
50:03I'll probably be the captain.
50:04Dr. Lawrence, we'll get a nice and black tonight again.
50:06Thank you so much, sir.
50:08Well, caller oil is 100 plus dollars per barrel, so let's not tell anybody.
50:14You get together with me and let's go and have it.
50:17I like that one.
50:17But I want to tell you about a year ago, I took a senior geologist there for him to do
50:24the science beast work.
50:25Because I am science beast, I wanted to know what it was.
50:28And yes, there's a presence of hydrocarbon there.
50:32And I am sure because he works with an oil company, they would have an interest in this site.
50:38All right, we'll wait and see.
50:39I mean, Captain, next location.
50:41Right.
50:41I'm excited to hear about this one now.
50:43Let me hear from the callers if you've ever seen a more beautiful pasture than this in Trinidad.
50:48Let me see this.
50:49Few people have seen this.
50:51This is Trinidad?
50:53This is in Trinidad and Tobago.
50:54It's a 2,000 acre pasture located.
50:59I don't want to reveal the location.
51:01Please don't.
51:02This is Buffalo.
51:03So if you remember this story, Dr. Steve Bennett would have come up with this type of cattle.
51:10And it's good for meat and milk as well.
51:13And you're looking at 2,500 acres that looks just like this.
51:17And this is just part of the herd.
51:19Listen to this.
51:19They have 3,500 buffalipsos on this site, right?
51:28I don't want to disclose the site, but it was the second place we took the film crew to yesterday.
51:35And I have additional images that I will share with you.
51:39On Monday, if you're interested in seeing a little more with actual persons down there, right?
51:47Whitney.
51:48So I thought I'd bring this to the viewers and beyond the team.
51:54This is just a few parts of our 3,500-strong buffalipsos herd in Trinidad.
52:04And it was a pleasure.
52:05So we did two tough assignments yesterday, included training.
52:11But that is how hunters, which are rescue teams, operates.
52:15We get the job done.
52:17Buffalipto wings?
52:19No, that's buffalo wings.
52:21No, no.
52:21But no, buffalipsos.
52:23It is sold in Trinidad and Tobago.
52:24You know, the meat here is good.
52:26It was developed by Dr. Steve Bennett from the local water buffalo.
52:34And, of course, he would have altered the genetics, maybe.
52:37And he came up with a good breed of animal for, one, for its beef, the amount of beef on
52:46the animal, as well as the rich milk that it produces.
52:50Let me just share.
52:52He sold some of these to Italy and they have the largest stock in the world of buffalipsos.
53:00Well, that's what I was not going to ask you.
53:00So what's created in Trinidad and Tobago?
53:03And we only have 25 that we know of.
53:0525,000?
53:07No, no.
53:07No, no.
53:08These some were sold to farmers and things.
53:10But this animal's milk is what produces mozzarella in Italy.
53:17And I was wondering why we don't get into mozzarella production, cheese production in Trinidad since we have such a
53:25large herd.
53:27But he exported it to Italy and it's also present in large quantities in Venezuela.
53:33You know the Venezuelans use the white cheese.
53:36They don't consume, really, unless necessary, our local cheese, what we call market cheese.
53:44Yes, which is the more yellow block type cheese.
53:47So that's why when you have these contraband seizures, you get cheese.
53:51You ever wondered why they bring in cheese?
53:54Why they wanted cheese, yeah.
53:54Because that's white cheese.
53:56The Venezuelans only know about white cheese.
53:59They don't know about our market cheese.
54:01So that's why.
54:02But so we have potential for a whole cheese market in Trinidad and Tobago.
54:07There's a ready market with all the pizza shops.
54:10Listen to me, Captain.
54:11Our country is so beautiful.
54:12And the things you are able to witness and see and bring for us, it just goes to show how
54:19unique we are being part of this beautiful Trin Island.
54:23And we take it for granted most of the times.
54:25And I tell you, less than 100 persons have ever seen both together, and that farm may be more of
54:32the farm, but the one with the saltwater volcano, there's a handful.
54:36Yes.
54:36I'm sure persons will be calling you to find out how they could experience something like that.
54:41I don't, I can't ask any favours, guys.
54:44I'm just saying, you know, you may have to contact the captain personally and see if he is willing, but
54:49I think that would be perfect for young people.
54:51Oh, yeah.
54:52You see, the thing about it is that I would have shown these because one, I'm not a gatekeeper.
54:58Yes.
54:59Right?
55:00That's one.
55:01And anything that we could do, you could do, Whitney, to encourage the young people to learn about the geography
55:09of Trinidad and Tobago, the geology, anything.
55:13Get out there, read, learn, and come and explore.
55:17And it will, anything that could change their behaviour is important.
55:21So, when you get out there, you will then realise, hey, I now understand why the captain doesn't destroy a
55:28bee or the team doesn't destroy a snake or an ocelot.
55:34We are out there to preserve the environment, but we want to bring these things to Trinidad and Tobago for
55:41the young people to see.
55:42Going forward, Whitney, instead of having a marijuana, a small patch of marijuana plantation or doing illegal hunting,
55:50and you're going quite deep in the forest to do that, to get some little animal for $800.
55:57Togayden, the film industry, getting foreigners to come and visit your sights.
56:03As I said, that's unique to the world in my view.
56:06I've researched it.
56:07The geologist, he has researched it as well.
56:10There is no saltwater volcano in the world.
56:13This is the only one.
56:15This is the rich resources we have in the country that the young people can create a life, a livelihood
56:22from, or part-time work from, take people there on a weekend.
56:28Because it was Sunday yesterday and we did too.
56:31And you were moving quickly.
56:32We have a few seconds.
56:33You have to wish anyone a happy birthday.
56:35Oh, yes.
56:35So there's a member of our team, Mr. Christopher Shigobin.
56:39He has been with us.
56:40Just after we formed the team, he's a member of our central crew.
56:44So, Christopher, I want to wish you a happy birthday.
56:47He's just started his family.
56:48He got married while he was with us.
56:50And he has been doing extremely well.
56:53Captain, we'd like to thank you so much and your full team for, you know, of course, working extremely hard.
56:57We appreciate all you work that you continue to do.
56:59And every Monday, you will see Captain Rambo out here with us.
57:02We get ready for news coming up next TNT.
57:04Have a safe and a blessed day today.
57:06We'll be back tomorrow, same time, same place.
57:08We're out.
