01:26This challenge is taking that concept to an entirely new level your looks will be presented to the judges and

01:35also the nighttime black light lighting like this

02:14Sherry-Ann and transitions lenses are the reason that we're doing this fun challenge today
02:21That's right Tim transitions lenses not only correct vision
02:24They adapt to changing light from clear to dark and every shade in between to enhance how you see the
02:31world
02:31I remember back in the day if you wanted shades you had to flip that lens thing down
02:35If you want shade it happens to your glasses
02:39And personally I know how great this product is because I wear transitions lenses and I love them
02:45And now look your lenses are perfectly clear indoors they adapted to meet your needs
02:49And Sherry-Ann has some very exciting news
02:53The winner of today's challenge will appear with their designs in an exclusive spread in Marie Claire magazine
03:02Oh my god they spread in Marie Claire would be absolutely amazing
03:06It's gonna be seen by the whole entire world
03:08Over here to my right we have provided ultraviolet reactive materials
03:14Also an ultraviolet flashlight, a blacklight
03:18And you will bring this to mood with you because you're going to be testing fabrics
03:23And we've outfitted a special room in the back with black lights for you to test your look
03:28And please take advantage of the brother sewing room

03:45The first thing that I thought about was that change from daylight to blacklight
03:49And I'm kind of thinking like daytime like sweet like
03:51And then at nighttime it's like sex bomb
03:54Yes let's have fun with this
03:57The inspiration behind my look is my fiancee
04:00Sometimes I call my fiancee Stacy my wife because we've been together for an eight year relationship
04:05But we're really just engaged and she's technically my fiancee
04:09She would wear something really funky
04:10So I start to draw things that are good on her body
04:14Creating texture as I sketch
04:16Playing with style lines to allow the eye to jump
04:19Breaking up the pieces so that when the blacklight hits it it jumps out even more
04:28All right designers you know the challenge daylight to blacklight head off
04:35With the blacklight challenge things that will go wrong is if you pick the wrong fabric

04:45Finally I see these fabrics that have like all a multitude of colors
04:50A red and a really dark dark pink
04:53But when I put the light on it it gives me hot pink
04:56I'm like oh this is most definitely it
04:59I'm not a big fan of neon colors

05:03This might be a game changer
05:05I'm already thinking sheer cause I kind of love that element of non-reactive
05:09So when it goes to blacklight you wouldn't be able to see it
05:11You would just see the bra underneath

05:51The biggest trick is to not make it look tacky AF

05:59My dad came into my life and was like come to Boston
06:02So he kind of rescued me from the land of the Mormons
06:05So I moved out there and I was a dental assistant at Harvard for five years
06:08And then I applied to Mass Art
06:11It was like the only school I applied to
06:12Because it was like affordable
06:14So I was just like actually you can make money from being an artist designer

06:46And so as soon as the blacklight goes on the top disappears and it's just like a skirt and a

06:50So it's a complete personality reveal
06:53Yeah cause it's kind of like you know sometimes you want to be slutty sometimes you want to be sweet

26:21a little bit more fun and casual for the summer and I hand-painted intricate
26:26flowers I have to say I love this look I love that it is hand-painted on the
26:31coat to me the whole look just worked head to toe thank you the way that you
26:36so delicately created the flowers and how you built them up and then let them
26:42drop away that's a really challenging thing to do and you just hit the nail on
26:47the head the fact that you did it on this transparent material and the
26:52highlight of the edging mm-hmm when the black light hit it gave it a very
26:58interesting look and then you did the painting on the hem which looked like it
27:04was paint splattered on space right sweet thank you this felt fresh by adding that
27:10kind of Blade Runner plastic trench with very beautiful handwork I mean you should
27:15go into embroidery right first or picked it up from spectacular Anna oh so you do a
27:21henna paintings right well I mean it's professional this is my fourth design
27:25three hours left to work and I came up with this idea and I just immediately
27:29started working and so I painted everything and in the morning I came to it a
27:34little bit peely but I kind of liked that lace look gives it dimension right yeah
27:38subtle I worked with it thank you Jenny Kimber tell us about your look I just
27:44started creating more of a line and like off fraying and hand-painting like the
27:51flowers I saw so when this dress came out you know I got very excited because
27:56it's a very wearable cute dress and I saw this print and I was expecting it you
28:00know just saying like let it glow and it did not not only did the party was very
28:05very subtle once the lights went all down it didn't have the bang that a great
28:10floral can okay Kimber are you happy with I mean I love the dress myself cuz it's
28:16totally me I don't wear fitted clothes and I didn't think there was a lot of
28:21effort in this I don't really need to see another little shift dress yes it's
28:26perfectly fine but this is a design challenge thank you Kimber thank you
28:34Cornelius tell us about your look so it was inspired by either a doctor and a party
28:39girl at night so this is the doctor and then at night she becomes like this wild
28:44Japanese emojis kind of girl I loved it in the black light because I do think
28:50that it's so very now it was magical you know what I loved about this dress I
28:55love the element of surprise the transition was like wow when the black
29:01lights came on this dress came alive it was a phenomenal transformation Rick tell us
29:10about your look I was really inspired and taken back to my actual raver days and I
29:16did want to use fabrics that I seen within that which was denim and kind of
29:19like cordying and neon but also kind of elevate it you know to a new modern take
29:24this is so spot-on but for me totally not modern spot-on the problem is is that
29:31she looks like a stripper yeah because of this the bows are like you can't do that
29:37I think the top looks very well made thank you I think the bottom with the
29:41wrinkles is scary it's a heavyweight fabric you have spacing you've lacing it's
29:46pulling it up like curtains and then when he turns the light off it's kind of like a
29:50Christmas tree because you've a dazzled her from head to toe wherever you could
29:55you've a dazzled her it is a little over designed up I agree Aaron tell us about
29:59your look I was kind of thinking of this idea of like this sweet little angel and
30:03then when they would go to blacklight it would have this outline of just like the
30:06bra and the skirt I was trying to have that kind of like naughty girl when it
30:11went to blacklight I love this look it's fashion-forward it's something that I
30:15haven't seen before and this is a wow piece the first thing that struck me was
30:20that it was this combination of demure and sexy but still with this ethereal
30:26feeling and when we was in the blacklight it almost felt like we were under the
30:32ocean looking at a jellyfish it was really extraordinary I liked it very much
30:38thank you you have a great sophistication you understand sensationalism you know
30:44your play of material in regular light and in blacklight worked incredibly
30:52Majin tell us about your look first well this is my second look so I wanted to
30:56create something where when she comes into the room they see texture but then
31:01when the black light come on all of the detail that I put into the dress in terms
31:04of the painting and sculpting her body I want that part to glow well this caused a
31:10lot of uproar with the judges when we saw it with the daylight it looks fine but with the
31:17black light it just looks like there's a crime scene why did you put the pink where you put it
31:24at first it was all white and you couldn't see anything and and I thought that the pink would do
31:29the same thing so when I came out and I saw that it didn't I just tried to so that
