00:00You know what's going to happen a year from now? People are going to be like, you know what?
00:02I don't know if Manning's ready. This class isn't as good as we thought it was a year ago.
00:07It happens every year.
00:10Why are people going to talk like that?
00:11Because that's what they do every year. They talk like this.
00:15Because, you know, I was smart at one point, but now I'm not.
00:18Eventually you're going to have to draft somebody or develop somebody or have a guy.
00:23So it's okay if you're looking toward 2027, especially if you pick up assets.
00:27This team is so good at kicking the can down the road, aren't they?
00:30Yep. But, Andy, they're not doing that.
00:33I say that for this reason.
00:35Is there a quarterback available who makes you think, yep, available?
00:41Fernando Mendoza is not available.
00:42Malik Wills was the guy. I thought Malik Wills would have been the one guy.
00:44Yeah, well, he's not coming here.
00:45No, I know. I know.
00:46He went to Miami where his former defensive coordinator and former assistant GM are now running things.
00:53I get it. I get it.
00:56Truthfully, I don't think that quarterback that you would feel 1,000% sure about was out there this year
01:01in free agency.
01:01Why would you?
01:03There's a reason they're free agents.
01:04So why would you bring in somebody to get in the way of the two guys who are here if
01:10you don't think they're any better?
01:12So that said, you don't spend all the money they spent on the offensive line and think you're not going
01:18to try and compete and win this year.
01:19Well, you don't want Shadour to get killed, right?
01:21Or Deshaun or anybody else.
01:24You don't want these guys getting killed.
01:24You want Quinjohn-Judkins to have holes to run through.
01:26You've got to put a little effort out there to look like you're a football team.
01:28You don't want things going backwards.
01:31Sideways is okay when you're going into the new dome.
01:33You don't want to be going backwards.
01:35New dome's a long ways away.
01:37Yeah, well.
01:38I mean, they just broke ground.
01:41Yeah, I know.
01:41So I don't see any plumbing.
01:43I don't see any electrical.
01:45Oh, there's porta-potties out there.
01:46You're good.
01:48Construction guys need to go somewhere, don't they?
01:50It's not like they're running over to the airport.
01:52Nothing against the fellas.
01:53I'm not worried about them going potty.
01:56Oh, you were worried about the facilities about two seconds ago.
01:59No.
01:59What I'm worried about is the dome is a long ways away.
02:02Are you going to punt the 2026, 2027, 2028 seasons?
02:07Joe.
02:07Jeff, selling PSLs.
02:10Yes, Steve.
02:11Tom, listen.
02:14Selling PSLs is not that far away.
02:16Selling season tickets is not that far away.
02:18You can't have three god-awful seasons.
02:22That doesn't work in the NFL.
02:24You're selling the product, bro.
02:25It's the NFL.
02:26And if your team sucks, you talk about Patrick Mahomes coming to play here.
02:30You talk about the Bills making the run over to Cleveland.
02:35Zion Johnson.
02:36Elton Jenkins, $24 million.
02:4020 guaranteed.
02:43Titus Howard, $63 million.
02:45That's a lot of money.
02:46Andy, that's not punting to 2027.
02:49That's coming in and trying to compete this year.
02:53Folks, who's with me on that?
02:56Andy's not.
02:56Are the Browns truly trying to compete for this year?
02:592-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-0-9-2.
03:01That's really what this is.
03:02I think they're trying to compete.
03:03I think they're trying to keep their head above water to give you some kind of product to be interested
03:07in down the road
03:09where you're going to be intrigued but yet not have a whole lot of hope.
03:13I think they're trying to compete.
03:15Intriguing is the goal.
03:16That's where the bar is set.
03:17Is that all the goal is?
03:18Yes.
03:19Hey, they could be good.
03:20We do this every year to ourselves anyways.
03:22Wait until next year.
03:22Isn't that what we're all about?
03:24Mary Kay had another thought with the morning guys.
03:26And it involved the two guys who are here at quarterback
03:31and thinking that they are the two guys who are here at quarterback.
03:35Well, he's got the chance.
03:37He's got the opportunity.
03:38And I think the Browns believe that Todd Munkin and his offense and his coaching and his scheme
03:44and play calling will be really good for Shador.
03:46They think that, you know, about Deshaun as well.
03:49But I think they're very, very eager to see what Todd Munkin can pull out of Shador Sanders.
03:55So this is his opportunity.
03:56This is his moment to step up and really prove to everyone that he is as legendary as he believes
04:03that he is.
04:04But it's clearly feeling like Munkin's going to get one year of dealing with these guys at quarterback
04:13and then reassess.
04:16Did Shador take the proper steps to become the guy you think might be the guy?
04:22Or did you pick up another draft pick for next year because you traded down
04:26and you're going after that guy in 2027?
04:28So far, really, really aimed shots in free agency.
04:35But you're looking at an offense that has added three guys
04:39and an offense where you probably needed to add eight.
04:42There's more to come.
04:43Well, it's still early.
04:44But folks, are you okay with what this deal is so far?
04:47You've seen other teams that have gone absolutely duds in free agency.
04:51They've made a lot of moves.
04:53They've brought in a ton of talent so far.
04:55And the Browns haven't.
04:57And again, that's okay.
05:00It really is.
05:02And at this point, it's early.
05:07For instance, the Jets, Andy, NFL.com does a great job of putting out
05:12little information like a thing on where everybody is and everything else.
05:16The New York Jets have 13 players listed on theirs so far of moves that they've made so far.
05:23The Browns have six moves that they've made.
05:28Including the trade?
05:29Yeah, including the trade.
05:32Oh, Corey isn't on there yet.
05:33The Bengals have five, for instance.
05:37But there's more to come.
05:40And that's one thing that's why I'm okay with where they are right now.
05:46Yeah, but I don't have fear of missing out right now.
05:48Like many years, I do.
05:50When I see things happening for other teams and they're moving and they're shaking
05:53and they're doing like this, you get that fear of missing out.
05:56I kind of feel like the Browns kicked the tires on all the big moves.
06:00They tried to get in.
06:01If they did, they did.
06:02If they didn't, I mean, they didn't make a gigantic move.
06:06But it seemed like they were active and they wanted to make a big move if they could.
06:10But they didn't.
06:12They haven't.
06:12In the end, I'm okay with it.
06:14Still could.
06:14I don't have fear of missing out right now.
06:16The fact that they've, and Andy, it's committed $136.5 million to the offensive line.
06:24Okay.
06:25Now, are those guys going to be around the whole time?
06:28That's total contract value.
06:30That's not guarantees if they get cut and everything else.
06:33But they spent $136 million to redo the offensive line.
06:37They're not done there either.
06:39But I'm still concerned that there's nothing at wide receiver.
06:44I'm shaky on the quarterbacks.
06:47But I do think that there are a couple of easy fixes to make the wide receiver group more competitive.
06:55And we talked about those yesterday.
06:56I think there are a couple of, if you were able to get Darnell Mooney or Jawan Jennings or both,
07:05you bring in a professional that can come in and play wide receiver for you.
07:09And we're pretty convinced they're going to add somebody in the first two rounds of the draft.
07:13Yeah.
07:13So that would be adding two guys to that group to go along with Jerry Judy, Cedric Tillman, Isaiah Bond.
07:21And there you go.
07:23That would be an improvement.
07:27Drafting someone within the first three picks is going to be an improvement.
07:30That's all you need.
07:31Absolutely.
07:31But I don't think that's enough, if you want to know the truth.
07:35For the wide receiver group.
07:36I don't think that's enough.
07:38I think you need at least two more guys there.
07:41I assume you're going to draft one.
07:42I think you better sign one.
07:44And again, there are guys out there who are available right now who could come in and help you.
07:50Mooney, Jennings, Stephon Diggs, Debo Samuel, Keenan Allen even, at his age, can still play.
07:57You still can bring in another catching tight end.
08:00I think you have to.
08:01Yeah.
08:02Or draft one.
08:03I think you're going to have to.
08:06And remember, everybody likes Harold Fann.
08:10And Harold was not a first or second round draft choice.
08:13You can find guys who can play later in the draft.
08:16But, you know, you got to do that.
08:19And Andrew Barry's track record isn't stellar when it comes to bringing in people outside of first round.
08:27You could make the argument it's not even stellar in the first round.
08:30You probably could take another running back in the fifth round if you needed to.
08:34You got one that's hurt.
08:35You need three running backs.
08:36There are running backs.
08:37You have three.
08:38Do you?
08:39You have Samson and Judkins.
08:41Judkins might be hurt.
08:42So you need somebody else.
08:43You keep disrespecting my man Rocket Sanders.
08:47Yeah.
08:47Sorry, bro.
08:48Anybody who's got the nickname Rocket.
08:54All I see is Tracy Morgan.
08:56Rocket?
08:57I don't know if you've ever seen that skit.
08:58I actually like Rocket Sanders.
09:01Big.
09:01Strong.
09:03Fast enough.
09:04So you're not bringing in any of them?
09:05No, I'd still bring in somebody.
09:07Okay.
09:07But you don't, I hate to say this, you don't have to spend any kind of a real asset on
09:13a running back.
09:14For a fourth running back, there are guys out there available right now.
09:17You can just go get one.
09:19Guys, running backs need teams more than teams need running backs.
