00:00Do we have an actual competition on our hands?
00:02Because there's a lot of times you and I, we look into the camera and go,
00:04yeah, it's a competition, quote-unquote.
00:06I'm with the people who are watching on YouTube, like,
00:08wink and a nod that it's a competition.
00:10But hearing Todd Munkin, hearing some of the guys talking about it
00:14throughout the week,
00:16maybe we actually have ourselves a competition on our hands again.
00:20And I don't care if it's because Deshaun Watson hasn't played well.
00:22Like, I've heard everything.
00:24I've heard that Shador Sanders has played much better.
00:27I've heard from a couple of people.
00:29I'm not going to name names.
00:30If you want to, you go right on ahead.
00:32But I don't know if they've made it publicly.
00:33They're going, eh, it's not that Shador's played so much better.
00:36It's that Deshaun has been so much worse.
00:38So that's what I want to get to.
00:40And guys, I'm here to tell you, I'm fine either way.
00:42Yeah.
00:42I'm fine either way.
00:43That's what I want to get to in all this.
00:44I would want Shador to be playing so much better.
00:46I want it more like that because it gives me maybe a little glimmer
00:50of the future of hope.
00:51But I don't care if Deshaun Watson plays terribly
00:54and Shador ends up taking the job.
00:56That's still a plus for me.
00:57We all want Todd Munkin and these receivers
01:01and hopefully a rebuild offensive line
01:03and a normal offseason for Shador Sanders.
01:06We want all that to mean what you just said.
01:10Hey, he's taking a step forward.
01:12I had kind of had fun with the afternoon show
01:14leading the witness when it came to Albert Breer
01:16earlier in the show where they were like,
01:18Hey, Albert, it seems like, it feels like,
01:21Oh, it definitely is.
01:22Yeah, Shador is mounting this comeback and now he has a chance.
01:25And then Albert Breer was like, wet blanket.
01:28He was like, nah, they're both getting their chances.
01:30Like I wouldn't.
01:31And most likely neither of these guys are the guy in 2027.
01:34Well, I'll talk about 2027.
01:362027 gets here even though we keep talking about Brendan Sorsby.
01:38I'm just looking at the way this is now.
01:41But what I've wondered in all of this is,
01:43are we assuming that Shador is taking a step forward?
01:48Is that the assumption we're all making as opposed to maybe Bo Stink?
01:53Maybe Deshaun's played worse.
01:55Whoa!
01:56What?
01:57What?
01:59One of these guys was at one point an MVP level.
02:05All right?
02:08It's, let's call it what it is.
02:10Like if Shador is taking, you're the one who keeps saying to me over and over and over again,
02:14Kenny's a fifth rounder, he's a fifth rounder, he's a fifth rounder, he's a fifth rounder.
02:16Okay, yeah, he's fifth rounder.
02:18144th overall.
02:18And he played like a fifth rounder last year.
02:20He played like a fifth rounder last year.
02:21He played like a fifth rounder who was forced into play when he really wasn't ready to do so.
02:25100%?
02:27It is far worse if Deshaun Watson can't beat a second year, fifth round guy, quote unquote.
02:35It is far worse.
02:37I agree.
02:38And if, because I'll tell you this, if it's that way, I don't want to hear anything about the guy
02:44again.
02:44He's just on the roster because you can't get rid of him and you're moving on to June 1st of
02:48next year.
02:48I assume that was the case all along.
02:50And if that's the way it is, then fine.
02:52Give me, I'm willing to go as far as to say, Shador, and if Shador don't work out, bring on
02:57Talon Green.
02:58Because I'm looking forward to something to look forward to because this, this ain't going to work.
03:03Now, I want to know if that's a real thing to say, though.
03:06I want it because there's been plenty of times we've talked ourselves into, real competition.
03:09Ain't real competition.
03:12Go back to Johnny and Brian.
03:13I'm sure my phone will light up here in just a second.
03:16We're on a 30-second delay.
03:17That wasn't a real competition.
03:19Johnny wouldn't allow it to be a real competition because he acted like too much of a goofball at that
03:23time.
03:24But that wasn't a real competition.
03:26If it were a real competition, let's just say, for the sake of argument, you threw Joe Flacco.
03:31How old is he now?
03:33137 years old.
03:34You threw a 137-year-old Joe Flacco into the mix and it was a real competition.
03:37Wouldn't he beat him?
03:39Wouldn't Joe Flacco beat both of these guys?
03:41Oh, beat Shador and Deshaun.
03:42Right now, if he came in, you saw at times how he played with Cincinnati and their weapons and everything.
03:49Wouldn't he win that competition?
03:50And if that's the case, what does it say about the guys you have on the roster right now?
03:55I don't think anybody's saying, being realistic, I don't think anybody's saying that they think that these guys are going
04:00to be the franchise quarterback.
04:01Oh, I think there's a big contingent or a loud contingent that think we do have the quarterback of the
04:07future on the roster right now.
04:07That's fine. They can believe in whatever they want.
04:09But I think an actual Browns fan, a person who was here as a Browns fan in 2024, says, hey,
04:17this is why I'm so pro-Shador.
04:20It's like, I've been through the Sean stuff before.
04:23I don't need to do that again.
04:25Let's see what Shador has.
04:26If he doesn't have it, fine.
04:27Where's the draft at?
04:28D.C.?
04:29C and D.C.?
04:31See you at the draft.
04:32I don't need to go through all this rigmarole.
04:34Maybe it's in Green Bay.
04:35I keep having, I don't know where the hell it is.
04:37If it's not here, I really don't care.
04:39I'll see you at the draft.
04:40Like, that's where I'm at on it.
04:42But if somebody wants to say that, well, no, you're franchise quarterbacks, boy, I hope he is.
04:47I'd love to set this list on fire here.
04:49I just wanted to know if you think it's a real competition.
04:52And it might be a race to the bottom, but a competition is a competition.
04:55I just don't want to sit there and be making, because we're looking at Jonathan,
05:00and I'm kind of rolling my eyes going, well, I hope, I've talked myself into a lot of hope
05:04before.
05:05I'm an excitable person.
05:06Maybe Jonathan's doing that.
05:08Maybe Nick is doing that to some level.
05:10Maybe I'm doing it.
05:11I want it to be a real thing.
05:13I don't want this to just be some foregone conclusion.
05:15Like, yeah, you guys can get your hopes up, but it's going to go, the tie's going to go to
05:19the veteran and that's it and that's all.
05:20No, I want the young guy to have a chance to play and to play early.
05:25Now, it may benefit Shador Sanders for Deshaun Watson.
05:29It may go very much better for the season and how the season plays out if Watson ends
05:34up starting and then Shador takes over instead of vice versa.
05:36But I think I want somebody who I can think possibly about the future and put off this whole
05:43conversation about my list of quarterbacks right here.
05:46And that's Shador Sanders.
05:47I'd much rather do that, Anthony.
05:50Obviously, I hope it's a real, authentic, legitimate competition because why would he
05:56need to stack it this year?
05:58I wonder if Todd Munkin's turning it into one.
06:00Go ahead.
06:00Why wouldn't it have been that way from the get-go is what I'm asking.
06:03I know there, again, the belief was, and where did this belief come from that, oh, he's
06:09tilting this, he's wading this towards Watson.
06:12I heard a lot of people say that.
06:14You might even have me saying that.
06:15Where did that come from?
06:17Where did it come from?
06:18Natural.
06:19Why?
06:20The natural order of things.
06:21I don't want to turn Todd Munkin into a villain, at least not yet over this.
06:25Naturally, it should go to Deshaun Watson.
06:27If they're all in t-shirts and shorts or shells, which they are, it's naturally going to go
06:31to Deshaun.
06:33There's no real live ammo going after him.
06:35And I think over time, if you are a person who does not want to see Deshaun Watson start
06:41this season, this is going as well as it could possibly go for you.
06:44Because they're still in t-shirts and shorts, and if you're getting these reports, even
06:48if Shador isn't going overwhelmingly, crazily well during this camp, right?
06:54If it's going that bad for the veteran, eventually you're going to sit down at a table as an organization
06:59and going, what has he given us?
07:00He's got every advantage in the world.
07:02He's a veteran in the league.
07:03He was taking 12th overall.
07:05He's getting paid a lot of money.
07:07Even though I hate to bring up the money, fine, bring up the money.
07:09Use that as a feather in the cap as well.
07:11Use all these reasons.
07:13There are so many natural reasons why Deshaun Watson should win the competition.
07:18And if he's not, if it's becoming that close of a competition by the end of minicamp here,
07:24by the end of tomorrow afternoon, I think it's a great thing for the people who really,
07:27really, really love Shador and the bronze fans who just want to see somebody young.
07:31I think it's a great thing for them because it's a workout.
07:36It's based on your experience.
07:37You have one guy who should be learning the NFL and he has to learn a new system
07:42because everybody got fired last year.
07:44And you have a guy who's been a veteran who's played in multiple systems before.
07:48And if that guy ain't able to take the reins of the job and squeeze it and hold onto it
07:52and not let Shador Sanders around it, if this is true with Todd Munkin saying,
07:56it's a good thing for all the Shador fans out there.
07:58It's a good thing for all the Browns fans who want to see somebody different
08:01and have somebody fun and possibly exciting to talk about.
08:06And if it doesn't work out that way, hey, you got that extra first round pick
08:09and you got Jared Verse out of it.
08:11Ain't no big deal.
08:13I'm not going to root for him to lose.
08:14I'll never root for him to lose.
08:15At some point, I think we get into a season where you don't hate it if they do.
08:21I hope it doesn't come to that, but we'll see.
