00:00Hi there.
00:01Exceptional heat and humidity will continue to affect large parts of England and Wales
00:05during the rest of Friday.
00:07But the highest temperatures are shifting east.
00:09They are more likely across East Anglia and the south east of England through the rest
00:14of the day.
00:14So amber and red warnings now in force, but their focus for the highest impacts east of
00:21England.
00:22Now we've seen some thundery impacts overnight.
00:24We've seen lively thunderstorms moving through parts of the north and the west of the UK.
00:30They're clearing to the North Sea, but further storms may well develop during Friday afternoon.
00:34We're talking about heavy thundery rain across central and northern Scotland with the risk
00:38of lightning and hail, some heavy downpours for Northern Ireland as well.
00:42And then as temperatures rise into the afternoon north of England, south east Scotland prone
00:46to some lively thunderstorms with again some large hail, frequent lightning, gusty winds.
00:52Further south, widespread sunny skies once again, away from the west of Wales, parts of the
00:58southwest where there will be some cloud and a fresher feel finally into the west of Wales
01:03as well as the southwest of England, low 20s here.
01:05But east Wales, elsewhere across the west country, still a hot day expected even if temperatures
01:12aren't quite as high as Thursday.
01:14The peak temperatures, the Midlands, the east of England where temperatures will reach the
01:19mid-30s fairly widely.
01:21And then across parts of East Anglia into London, we're likely to see 37 if not 38 degrees.
01:27So there's a chance that Thursday's June temperature record will be broken again third day in a row.
01:34And this is why we have warnings in force.
01:37It's not just the absolute temperatures, although exceptional, it's the humidity as well.
01:42And it's the accumulated impacts through the week.
01:45Of course, we're seeing strains on hospitals at the moment fairly widely across many parts
01:50of England and Wales.
01:51And we're seeing very little relief at the moment by night and by day with high humidities remaining.
01:58Amber warning there for a large part of central and eastern England.
02:01Red warning for the southeast into London.
02:05Elsewhere across northern parts of the UK, yellow warnings for thunderstorms.
02:10And there'll be further storms continuing into Friday evening, initially across northern
02:14parts of the country, Scotland, Northern Ireland, prone to these, especially towards the north
02:18and the west.
02:19And then some storms could develop across northern France and drift their way into the southeast
02:23of England once more with some frequent lightning, hail, gusty winds, torrential rain.
02:28But some uncertainty about the track of these storms as they move out of the continent.
02:33Across the west of England, Wales, a fresher night to come with a keen breeze and a slightly
02:38more comfortable night for sleeping.
02:40We're still in the high teens, however, and we're still in the low 20s towards the southeast.
02:45So really quite uncomfortable here.
02:47And like I say, with little respite by night and with buildings staying very warm, although
02:54temperatures aren't as extreme in the southeast on Saturday, we're still at this amber extreme
02:58heat warning for residual impacts from the week that we've just experienced.
03:03Further west, a much fresher feel for the west of England, parts of Wales with a breeze coming
03:08from the southwest.
03:10Further showers and thunderstorms developing in places, Scotland, Northern Ireland, especially
03:14towards the west of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
03:17And across parts of the Midlands into east Wales, there could be some isolated storms as
03:22we go through the afternoon.
03:23Temperatures on Saturday, highly variable across the country.
03:26We've got this fresher feel in the west, low 20s expected.
03:30Towards the east, still hot, 31, 32 Celsius, but not quite as exceptional as we've seen through
03:37the week.
03:38And that heat and the remaining humidity likely to spark further storms in the southeast on
03:43Saturday night.
03:45And there's the risk of a really significant system moving out of the continent.
03:50You can see it here.
03:51It looks really quite angry.
03:52Don't take this too literally because as these very large clusters of thunderstorms develop,
03:57they take on a life of their own and they can move in all sorts of directions.
04:02So there is that risk in the southeast of England later Saturday of some really quite severe
04:07thunderstorms.
04:08But we will try our best to stay across that and keep you updated right here on our YouTube
04:14channel.
04:14Bye bye.
