00:00Good afternoon. Though Tuesday will bring some respite to the recent rainfall, there's still some very heavy rain to come this afternoon with a number of warnings in force.
00:09Here's a summary of those warnings for the rest of Monday.
00:12You can see many areas of northern and western England with rainfall warnings and parts of Wales as well.
00:18And where the rain is going to be falling on very saturated ground across southern areas of Wales, that's where that amber rainfall warning is in force.
00:25We could see up to 100mm of rain falling. Flooding is quite likely as well as fairly major travel disruption through the rest of today.
00:34Now we've seen some very persistent rain due to this similar area of rain, this persistent weather front that's not really made much progress over the weekend and it will continue to move quite slowly through Monday as well.
00:44Moving into parts of northeastern England, more central areas of England as well, bringing some drier weather to parts of western Wales, the far southwest of England as well this afternoon.
00:53But we've still got those warnings in force. Now it's a much drier afternoon for northern Ireland, western areas of Scotland in particular, and it should stay dry across the south and east, but cloudier than yesterday with a fairly brisk breeze.
01:06Ahead of this band of rain, it will stay relatively mild, but to the west of that, temperatures falling much closer to average, if not a little bit below.
01:12And there will be some fairly blustery showers across the north and west of Scotland through this evening.
01:17Now that rain pushes ever so slowly eastwards this evening, lingering across northeastern areas of England in particular.
01:23As it pushes into eastern areas of England, where we've seen very little of this rain over the past few days, it will become a much weaker feature.
01:29But there is a risk of some outbreaks of rain, a lot of cloud as well into this evening.
01:34Further west though, much clearer skies moving in, we've got a ridge of high pressure.
01:38That will bring some of us some mist and fog, parts of northern Ireland perhaps a touch of frost as well.
01:43So a much chillier start to the day on Tuesday, but certainly a drier and brighter one, and Tuesday brings prospect of much more decent weather to be getting out and about in.
01:54There will be some mist and fog around first thing, that should clear relatively quickly, but eastern areas of England will stay relatively murky with some drizzly outbreaks of rain until at least the middle part of the afternoon.
02:04Blustery showers still moving into western areas of Scotland, but for elsewhere, it will remain largely dry through the day.
02:11But it is fairly fresh actually, temperatures just 9 or 10 at best across southern areas for many of us, just around average for this time of year, which makes a difference to the mild weather we've had recently.
02:23And it will remain clear for most of us through Tuesday evening.
02:26Still showers continuing across the north and west, quite an early frost developing as well, more widely cold night to come on Tuesday.
02:33You can see the cloud already starting to thicken across the west.
02:37So after a cold start to the day, to the evening across the north and west, it will become mild as the night comes on as the next batch of wet weather moves in.
02:45So although Tuesday is looking drier, it's a fairly short-lived affair.
02:49We've got further rainfall warnings in force for parts of southern areas of England as well as south Wales.
02:55So further rain to come, more impacts expected through this week.
