00:52by saying this
00:54is not your usual
00:56comedic sense of life anime
00:58it's a more
01:00okay the start of the anime
01:02is centered around an average teenager
01:04as
01:06he goes through his
01:08usual life and his family with his
01:10sister in particular
01:12now
01:14when i tear up this show
01:16you have some idea
01:18of where this is going to and to be fair
01:20it does pull up that direction
01:22actually if you are familiar
01:24with that but not as you
01:26expect it's a bit more complicated
01:28than what sounds like
01:30let's start with the characters
01:32before i get into the story
01:34okay you got
01:36kosuki
01:38he's the main at the center of the story
01:40he's probably the closest
01:42representation of
01:44an average high school
01:46protagonist in anime
01:48he's not a muscular guy
01:50you know he's not gifted with any
01:52superhuman abilities
01:54you know he's just average
01:56guy going through family drama
01:58he's lazy as
02:00fuck and he
02:02constantly dropped the ball in a lot of situations
02:04okay it's very frustrating
02:06seeing this
02:08fucker
02:10but yes other than that the other
02:12next character was the next main character
02:14is sister karimo
02:16you know she is this
02:18cute sister
02:20that a tail cat is referring to
02:22and if we're all being honest
02:24i will say she captures the average
02:26high school girl to an extent
02:28and she also captures
02:30a sister
02:32body relationship in a sense you know being
02:34annoying, snoddy and having a
02:36uterical persona in a way
02:38then you have their parents
02:40and friends
02:42and the side characters
02:44those guys aren't really the mains in the story
02:46they
02:48were much more likable than anything
02:50to watch and see the two mains
02:52in the show
02:54although they really need to know much about
02:56these side characters
02:58earlier i said this anime is not your typical
03:00comedic slice of life
03:02given the premise and where it goes
03:04and here's why
03:06Karimo
03:08the girl
03:10she has a turn on for
03:12which is a type of game
03:14which doesn't sound all that
03:16weird until you look up
03:18Iroji's and realize how fucked up
03:20it looks
03:22well i'll give you a quick look
03:24rundown on what Iroji is
03:26Iroji is a type of romance game
03:28with mostly younger
03:30size and don't know where that makes it out
03:32to be some romance novel
03:34but in reality
03:36it just comes off as weird and perverted as hell
03:42and this is coming from a guy who likes to watch
03:44Matsu and Sumo
03:46okay just saying
03:48and the thing here is an actual journal
03:50centered around this and it's
03:52quite different now than any circles
03:54now let's get into
03:56the meat of this bizarre plot
03:58plot
04:00and what works
04:02because there is stuff that works
04:04and what doesn't
04:06now believe me there is
04:08the start of this show does
04:10do some good
04:12so i'll start with the first season
04:14since you have two seasons
04:16throughout the first season you have your main man
04:18Kasuki trying to get along with her sister
04:20with her having a hard of a road to use on MOE
04:22while putting up with life in general
04:24the two meanings
04:26they're also going to do like
04:28adventures with a side character
04:30which includes
04:32writing a manga
04:33to writing a game
04:34okay now that's not so bad right
04:36sort of like a typical
04:38slice of life
04:40anime with anime references
04:42in that sense
04:44except it has that stain of
04:46incestuous relationship going on
04:48even a possibility
04:50or
04:52that given the romance between the two mains
04:54being pushed
04:56throughout the show
04:57now here's where the shit part comes in
04:59but before i get into that
05:01i had to point out the positives
05:02real quickly
05:03the relationship with
05:05Kunimo and Kasuki
05:07like the way they treat each other
05:09and how they act with their personalities
05:11it's more realistic
05:12and much more plausible here
05:14as opposed to a lot of other
05:16enemies that depict
05:18um
05:19you know sibling
05:20rivalry relationships
05:22and how it
05:24you know relates to their parents
05:26here it's actually
05:28more realistic
05:30and like how
05:32compared to like people in the real world
05:34so i'll give them props
05:36for that
05:37you know
05:38for being more grounded in that sense
05:40yeah that's pretty much
05:42the only part i think i can come up with
05:44for this anime to be honest
05:46let me get into the negatives okay
05:48Kosuki this man is
05:50lazy as fuck okay
05:52that's why you
05:54would not feel any more disappointed
05:56seeing your main protagonist
05:58than you would with this guy
06:00he just drops the ball with so much stuff
06:02and it's
06:04it's really fun right
06:06because normally you are constantly seeing like
06:08in these
06:09these like slice of life types anime
06:12you're constantly seeing the main guy being
06:14someone that's more
06:16outgoing or energetic in a sense
06:18this dude is nothing like that
06:20it's funny because they do give a bit of a backstory to when he was kids
06:24with Kunimo
06:26and how they used to act
06:28and he was a different person as a kid
06:30so i i do
06:32give them props for
06:34portraying like you know
06:35the difference in his character
06:37as he grew older
06:39it also
06:40does
06:41contemplate their relationship
06:43right
06:44the reason why you know
06:45there's a sort of like
06:46steen on their relationship
06:48and you know
06:49when it comes to like
06:50how they
06:51had this stuff going on
06:53Kosuki and Kunimo
06:55they were separated
06:57when they were kids
06:58and they
06:59did
07:00end up like
07:01meeting back
07:02years later
07:03and
07:04with that
07:05there's a sort of like
07:06there's a sort of like
07:07emptiness there that
07:08is being filled
07:09and it's being filled in a very
07:11weird way
07:12because you have the
07:13the game
07:14right
07:15i also had to point out
07:16with
07:17with some of the stuff that they do in the show
07:19right we have the characters
07:20they go and do these
07:22random stuff
07:23and such
07:24it's not
07:27done in a
07:28over the top
07:29sort of way
07:30so
07:31i can
07:32say that
07:33at least i might know
07:34it's more refreshing
07:35but it's also still very weird
07:37because in a sense
07:38if you
07:39watch the show
07:41you know
07:42especially from the title
07:43and
07:44where it's
07:45going
07:46you
07:47you know what the outcome is
07:48and
07:49it's really weird
07:50and like i said
07:51no it's coming from someone who's watched
07:53shit like monster munsoomi

07:56so
07:57i've seen the down bad in anime before
07:59but
08:00this is just a different type of down bad

08:03it's not just me saying this but also
08:05people in the anime community
08:07can agree on this as well

08:12and discuss the ending quick
08:14because

08:17give a proper view on this without talking about the ending

08:22but then again you probably
08:23more likely don't care about the spoilers because
08:26i have a feeling most of you guys
08:28i'm really gonna be checking this out

08:35so this is where you

08:38watch out the anime first

08:43coming on to the second season
08:45first of all i have to say
08:46this is probably one of the few anime stories
08:48why i can't say
08:49the first and second season is probably about even
08:51in terms of the quality
08:53and writing
08:54but
08:55here
08:56the second season towards the end
08:57the show takes a bit of a
09:00dive
09:01like
09:02you're not sure the show if you're
09:04watching it
09:05you know the whole stuff
09:07like the relationship between the two mains
09:09you know
09:11you're left wondering if it's really going there
09:14or
09:15it's not gonna go there
09:17they're playing with that
09:18you know
09:19whole scenario
09:20but in the second season
09:22going down to the ending
09:24they actually end up going
09:26straight in that direction
09:28and
09:29it's a weird way how they set it up
09:31they
09:32they bite the butt
09:33they went straight into that direction
09:34and i was like
09:35whoa
09:36so you're really gonna go here huh
09:38they're really going in there
09:41but then
09:43it was really like
09:44i think like the last two episodes
09:45they sort of like
09:46back out of it
09:47and you know
09:48they sort of reveal like
09:49oh
09:50a temporary thing
09:51okay
09:52you know
09:53the whole part about the promise
09:55was
09:56you fake it
09:57till you make it
09:58right
09:59i know just like for a few months
10:01i could say at the most

10:03remember the timeline correctly
10:04so you rejected all these girls
10:07one of which would have been a perfect match
10:11for your lazy ass
10:13just for this stupid
10:15fake out promise

10:18let that sink in
10:20that level of stupidity

10:24i couldn't for the life of me

10:33setting this thing up

10:49and then you decide to actually bite the bullet

11:17it's a big cop out like you
11:19push in that direction
11:22and you played it up
11:24and then all of a sudden you decide to
11:26cop out after just going right into it
11:28and i'm thinking

11:32from the beginning
11:33if that was the end result
11:35like why even bother you know

11:40it was a big waste of time to be honest

13:13they went all in
13:15and that's the point i'm making here

13:18if you're gonna tease that
13:20and you're gonna set it up
13:22commit to it and go straight in

13:26don't pull out the ending
13:27that's what the point i'm trying to make

13:32even if you
13:33they did commit right
13:34and it turns out they actually did get married
13:37and they
13:38they went in that direction
13:39and everyone was like
13:40what the fuck

13:42at least
13:43you actually committed to it
13:45you didn't pull out

13:47you actually went all in
13:49and in that i
13:51i can actually respect and admire
13:53that
13:54you know commitment
13:56at least
13:57even if i
13:58generally don't like
13:59the outcome

14:03the annual itself
14:04but that's not what you did

14:08you teased it
14:09you played up that direction
14:10and you pull out the end

14:12to be honest i kinda know exactly why
14:14after reading two reviews
14:16checking out
14:17the
14:18the
14:19other
14:20stuff like the light novel
14:21the game
14:22yes
14:23and this is
14:24a game
14:25for this
14:26with alternate endings
14:27i've come to the conclusion that
14:29the writers only did that
14:31you know
14:32the anime and such
14:33so
14:34you can
14:35play it up for marketing
14:37to be honest
14:38cause if you remove
14:39the whole
14:40incestuous
14:41aspect of this anime
14:43you'd actually have a pretty decent
14:46entertaining slice of life anime
14:50now with
14:51two siblings
14:52and their friends and such
14:53because
14:54i'll be honest right
14:56when
14:57this show wasn't focused on the whole sibling
15:00stuff
15:02like when it was focused on like
15:04the endeavors with
15:05you know
15:06the side characters
15:07it was actually going pretty good
15:08like i'm not gonna lie
15:10i actually really
15:11find it was actually pretty
15:13good
15:14for the most part
15:15and
15:16it's
15:17that whole
15:18stuff there
15:19it makes
15:20all the more
15:21frustrating
15:22knowing that
15:23this is where
15:24this all ended up
15:25like
15:26going
15:27through all that
15:28right
15:29all this different stuff
15:30throughout the first and second season
15:31and then it all comes down to this

15:34whole
15:35stupid
15:36stupid
15:37copper promise
15:38it's just
15:39basically two whole seasons of saying
15:41it's just a prank
15:42bro
15:43that's pretty much what you're doing to the whole audience
15:45when you're doing that
15:46right
15:47so my
15:48take here is
15:50either
15:51you commit and go all in on that
15:54and get heated by everyone
15:55right
15:56for doing that
15:57but at least get respected by people for
15:59you know actually committing to it
16:00or you just completely remove all incestuous part and just focus on you know their relationship
16:09and just enjoy this stuff and regular drama and hanging out with their friends and such
16:16but if they did that you wouldn't have anything any angle to market the whole anime on
16:23right so that
16:25it's pretty much a
16:26sort of a double-edged sword here right to be honest
16:30so there
16:31now
16:32outside of that
16:33i was gonna go into the technical stuff for this anime
16:36the
16:38animation quality it's
16:41average
16:42to be honest
16:43right
16:44this is from 2010 so it's a while back
16:46and there's nothing standout about the animations
16:49the
16:50soundtrack
16:52it's
16:53i would say it's
16:54good
16:55right
16:56nothing special but it's
16:57it's good for what it is
16:58right
16:59so
