10 December - National Evening Forecast presented by Aidan McGivern
Transcript
00:00Hi there.
00:01Less unsettled for many of us tonight and into tomorrow as Storm Bram moves away and
00:08the next low starts to approach from the west, but that's a slower moving low pressure.
00:12So we do have a drier and calmer brief spell of weather, albeit with still some rain and
00:19strong winds for the north of Scotland overnight.
00:21Those gale force winds continuing for a time before very slowly moderating by dawn.
00:27Cloudier skies to the north and west, a keen breeze continuing, but the clearer skies and
00:32the lightest winds will be towards the southeast, 5 or 6 Celsius for many first thing, 3 or
00:374 in some sheltered spots.
00:39Some decent sunshine, albeit with one or two mist patches towards the southeast first thing
00:42Thursday, but it does turn cloudier from the west and from the south as the next frontal
00:47system moves in.
00:48The sunshine becoming squeezed out across the Midlands into eastern parts of England where
00:53just some patchy cloud will move in and for many it's a dry day on Thursday, at least
00:59towards central and eastern parts of the UK, 12 Celsius, but the breeze picks up, outbreaks
01:03of rain move into Northern Ireland, Western Scotland and eventually the far west of Wales
01:07and England.
01:08This is a slow moving weather front, so it's only going to gradually bring rain in across
01:13many parts through Thursday night and the start of Friday, eventually clearing around lunchtime
01:20from the southeast, but you can see how Thursday evenings relatively damp again for Scotland,
01:26for West Wales into the southwest with a strong breeze.
01:30And for Western Scotland and Northern Ireland, later in the night, clear skies return, likewise
01:34for Pembrokeshire as well as parts of Cornwall, eventually western parts of Devon, 4 or 5 Celsius
01:41where the clouds clear, 8 or 9 where we keep the cloudier skies and some outbreaks of rain
01:46first thing, some heavier bursts for a time across the Midlands for example, but this front
01:50is weakening, it's fizzling away, it's going to slowly peel away from the east of England
01:56and cloudier skies replaced by sunnier conditions further west, albeit with some showers into western
02:03fringes, particularly northwest Scotland where they will be heavy with some rumbles of thunder.
02:08Gusty winds here, but lighter winds elsewhere and in the sunny skies, feeling pleasant enough,
02:14temperatures of 12 Celsius in places.
02:17Then Saturday starts dry, still some patchy cloud in the far southeast, but for Scotland,
02:22Northern Ireland, northwest England, it's turning cloudier and we're going to see outbreaks of
02:27rain move in by the afternoon, that rain turning heavy and persistent, particularly over western
02:33parts of Scotland and higher parts of western Scotland especially. Significant rain accumulations
02:39building up here through Saturday and into Sunday. Elsewhere, the rain's slower to push into much of
02:45England and Wales, it does turn cloudier in places, but we keep some decent sunny spells. In the Midlands,
02:51East Anglia, the South and South East, 12 Celsius once again, but with a breeze picking up through the
02:57day, gusty winds for the northwest once more. So, the weather's staying very mixed over the next few
03:04days. Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel so you never miss an update. Bye-bye.
