Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05We've seen some welcome sunshine today.
00:07Not for everyone, there were showers around.
00:10Low pressure certainly firmly in charge as we head through Tuesday evening
00:14with showers tracking across the country.
00:17You can see the blues across most of the UK
00:20and that's because the jet stream is to the south of us
00:24so we're on the cold side of that jet
00:26and that's one of the reasons why those low pressure systems are slow moving.
00:31But as we head through the next few days, that jet stream nudges further north
00:36and what that means, further outbreaks of rain are likely extending across the country
00:42as we head into Friday as well as the weekend.
00:46So all in all, the weather remains mobile,
00:49showery for the next few days, a band of rain for a time affecting us
00:53and then more wet weather into the weekend.
00:55Showers actually tracking across the country through this evening.
00:59Strongest winds western Scotland where they could merge to form longer spells of rain.
01:05Clearer skies inland even with some mist and fog across central southern parts.
01:09Those showers continuing across southern and western facing coasts.
01:14Overnight, temperatures will fall.
01:16It's going to feel rather chilly as we enter the day on Wednesday morning
01:20even with a touch of frost across the glens of Scotland.
01:23Temperatures dipping down as low as 2 or 3 degrees Celsius in some spots.
01:28So Wednesday morning starts bright for some yet again with some sunny spells.
01:33Showers from the word go across western Scotland.
01:36Irish seacoast seeing them as well.
01:38And this is a band of showers which will extend from the west towards the east.
01:42So expect some wet weather as we head through the morning across the northern half of the UK.
01:47Further showers then tracking in across the coastlines.
01:51And again they could push inland with brighter skies reserved for inland areas where we see some drier weather.
01:59Those showers will be frequent across western Scotland.
02:01But notice towards the west here's another weather front moving in.
02:05And it's going to come in through Wednesday evening.
02:08Before that though temperatures rising to around the seasonal norm for early part of December.
02:15Now through Wednesday evening this band of rain will track again from northern Ireland,
02:20west country Wales, western Scotland quite quickly eastwards.
02:23We could see some sharp bursts of rain through the early hours of the morning across Scotland, northern England, Wales, the Midlands and then further east through into the early hours of Thursday morning.
02:34Showers will follow and a wet start to the day across eastern counties of England, central and eastern areas of Scotland.
02:42However it will move fairly quickly northeastwards and for most we'll just see a day of some brighter weather but also those showers particularly across the north as well as the west.
02:52And here's your outlook through Friday, a lot of cloud, some brighter breaks towards the east at the same time we will see some rain towards the west.
03:00More details of the weather through the next few days and beyond, check out our deep dive and this week it's with Annie and I'll see you again soon.
