00:00Hi there, very high, potentially record-breaking temperatures are expected in some parts of
00:05the UK through the bank holiday weekend.
00:08But for the time being, we've still got some cloud and some rain to talk about because
00:12whilst high pressure is building from the south, weather fronts are skirting around
00:16the top of that high to bring persistent rain to Northern Ireland during the evening, and
00:20that rain then pushing into Western Scotland, heavy for a time, but moving on after a couple
00:25of hours, relocating to Northern Scotland into Shetland and Orkney during the early hours,
00:31turning more showery for the rest of Scotland and drying up for Northern Ireland, Southern
00:36Scotland with some clear spells, extensive clear skies across many parts of England and Wales
00:41away from Western fringes, where there will be some patchy drizzle and mist, and under
00:46those clear skies, despite the clear skies, it's going to be a warm and humid night with
00:51temperatures in places staying in the teens.
00:53So we start off Friday with those temperatures having a head start compared with recent days,
00:59and widespread sunshine for central and eastern parts of England will certainly allow those
01:03temperatures to rise quickly through the morning and early afternoon.
01:07Cloudier further north and west, some medium and high-level cloud drifting in at times, but
01:12the thickest cloud will remain across some of these western coasts of England as well as
01:16West Wales, and more especially Scotland and Northern Ireland, where the cloud will give
01:21some light showery rain and drizzle at times. But it's going to be a warm afternoon for many parts
01:27of the UK, high teens, low 20s widely, and across central and eastern parts of England, we're talking
01:33about mid to high 20s with 28 or 29 Celsius, the potential high across East Anglia and the
01:42South East. Friday night springs with its clear spells once again across central and eastern parts.
01:47There's the chance of a thundery downpour breaking out across, say, central and southern parts of the UK.
01:54They'll be moving away quickly, so flashes of lightning possible, but heavy rain only temporary
02:01before these shower clouds move along. And then clear spells once again in their wake.
02:06Some drizzle and some light showers remains for the northwest of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:11Thicker cloud always towards the northwest of the UK. And temperatures are creeping up day by day,
02:17night by night. These are the overnight lows heading into the start of the weekend, and in some places
02:21we're talking about 16 or 17 Celsius to begin things on Saturday. Some of this medium-level cloud
02:28around first thing on Saturday, that's the cloud associated with any potential thundery downpours.
02:33It moves away, it thins, and by the afternoon on Saturday, England and Wales, simply sunny skies.
02:39The odd mist patch around some southwestern and western coasts. Otherwise inland, it's blue skies.
02:44Scotland, Northern Ireland, parts of Northern England, a bit more cloud, but mostly dry. And wherever
02:50you are, it's settled. It's warm, it's bright, and in some places it's very warm, if not hot. So we're
02:56talking about low to mid-20s widely across England and Wales, with temperatures peaking in the
03:01southeast at 30 Celsius, most likely around London. Scotland and Northern Ireland, not so
03:07hot. Largely cloudy, but still mostly fine, with temperatures reaching the high teens, low
03:1420s. And it's a similar north-south distribution of heat for Sunday and bank holiday Monday.
03:20Towards the far north of the UK, especially for the north and west of Scotland, we've got
03:24westerly breezes, we've got weak weather fronts, introducing cloud at times, and allowing temperatures
03:29to remain around the high teens, if not low 20s. Further south, that's where the heat intensifies,
03:36reaching a peak on Monday. And after 32 Celsius on Sunday in the southeast, there's the potential
03:42for 33 Celsius on bank holiday Monday. And if that temperature is recorded, it would be
03:49the hottest May day, and therefore the hottest spring day on record. We'll keep you updated,
03:55as always, on our YouTube channel. But for now, that's all for me. Bye-bye.
