10 June - National evening forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:00Hi there.
00:01A familiar pattern will continue through the next couple of days.
00:05Showers followed by rain followed by further showers.
00:07Now the showers that we've seen across most of the UK on Wednesday tend to ease only briefly
00:13overnight ahead of the next band of rain which will soon be upon Northern Ireland and then
00:18pushing into western fringes of Britain by dawn.
00:21The breeze picking up as well accompanying that.
00:24Now that will lift temperatures through the night, 12 or 13 Celsius for some western parts
00:29first thing Thursday.
00:31But towards the east, 8, 9 Celsius, a fresher start here, even some sunshine first thing
00:37for the likes of East Anglia, it won't last though.
00:39This area of rain and cloud is moving in swiftly, tied in with this area of low pressure just
00:45sitting to the north of the jet stream which is migrating north ever so slowly over the
00:51next few days and that's going to allow something a little drier and warmer to develop for many
00:55places this weekend.
00:56But for Thursday, it's neither particularly warm or dry.
01:02Indeed, it is a wet start to the day, some heavy and persistent rain.
01:05Now the rain becomes more showery across many parts of the UK into the afternoon but it
01:08does stick around.
01:10Drier towards the south west late afternoon and staying mostly dry, albeit with one or
01:15two showers for the Northern Isles and the far north of the mainland of Scotland through
01:18the afternoon.
01:19Some brightness here.
01:20Elsewhere across the UK, it's simply a damp day, heavy rain turning to more patchy and
01:25showery rain into the afternoon and it stays breezy, especially across the south and the
01:30west.
01:30That, despite a more humid feel, will make it feel on the cool side once again, 18 Celsius
01:37at best in the south, mid-teens further north.
01:40These areas of rain do tend to push away through Thursday night but we keep showery, patchy rain
01:47going in many northern and western parts of the country, driest towards the south east.
01:52And with the cloud and with this south-westerly more humid airflow, it is going to be a mild
01:56night, temperatures of 13 or 14 Celsius.
02:00We start off Friday then, not as wet for many places as Thursday morning but still a lot of
02:05cloud out there.
02:06The cloud getting torn apart in places, especially towards the east but thick enough in the west
02:11to continue to bring some outbreaks of rain, especially over western hills of Wales
02:14and England, and for Scotland it's showers coming and going through the day.
02:18Some brightness in between the showers, some sunshine making it through, and with that
02:22more humid feel and a bit more dry and bright weather at times, temperatures will respond
02:28better compared with Thursday, talking about the low 20s in some parts of central and eastern
02:34England.
02:35Nevertheless, going into Friday night, we will see further showers.
02:39Into Saturday they become more restricted to northern parts as a ridge of high pressure builds
02:42into the south, and that will lead to something a little drier and warmer for many of us on
02:47Saturday and Sunday.
