12 December - National evening forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth
Transcript
00:00Hello, a fine evening to Cumber. Very wet weather is expected to move into northwestern areas.
00:06We do have a number of warnings in force and that's because we will see a conveyor belt of weather fronts
00:12and warm air bringing plenty of moisture as well as heavy rainfall to many northwestern areas.
00:17We do have an amber warning in force for Cumbria. That's where we will see the highest rainfall totals
00:22building up by Monday. We could see over 200 millimetres.
00:27So we are expecting disruption for many north and western areas for heavy rain this weekend.
00:32But for now it is remaining relatively settled. The cloud will just clear the south and east through this evening.
00:39Elsewhere a very clear evening to come. Probably quite a nice sunset for many areas.
00:43Dry overnight as well away from the far northwest where we will continue to see some potentially quite heavy showers
00:48across the western isles. A bit of mist and fog developing here and there overnight and temperatures will fall away
00:54a little lower than they have done lately. A touch of frost across some southern counties as well as parts of Wales.
01:01Further north and west though with the strength of that southwesterly breeze that will hold the temperatures up
01:06and the cloud will begin to build from the north and west through Saturday.
01:09Ahead of that though a fine start to the weekend. Actually through much of the weekend
01:13many south and eastern areas will remain largely dry.
01:17But that's not to say there isn't any wet weather around because rainfall totals will really start to build up
01:22across the north and west. Now the rain spreads into western Scotland, parts of northern Ireland at first.
01:28We do have our first warning across parts of western Scotland through Saturday lunchtime onwards.
01:33But as the afternoon goes on into the evening that rain will push south and eastwards.
01:37So plenty of sunshine across much of England and Wales.
01:40After the chilly has started temperatures just reaching 9 or 8 degrees.
01:44But closer to that cloud and rain will be more like 10 or 11 degrees.
01:49So a damp evening to come and night to come for north and western areas.
01:54The rain will continue to fall across very similar areas through much of this weekend.
01:59And as it moves into northwest England that's where we start to see those brighter colours
02:02and the heaviest rain will start to develop.
02:06Further south and east as I said staying largely dry actually through much of the weekend.
02:09A very different story for many southern parts of the UK.
02:13Now there is an amber warning in force for parts of Cumbria through much of Sunday all the way through until Monday.
02:20Please stay tuned to the warnings if you're in these areas or nearby as they may be updated over the weekend.
02:26So we're likely to see travel disruption as well as quite likely to see some intense flooding as well.
02:32As I said rainfall totals could reach in excess of 200 millimetres by the time we get to Monday.
02:38It is staying mild though wherever you are and you will feel the benefit of that across the south and east.
02:43But it is going to be a fairly breezy day on Sunday.
02:46Now the rainfall will continue to fall as we head into Monday.
02:50So please stay tuned to the forecast through this weekend.
02:53We'll be keeping you updated of course on our YouTube channel.
02:56So please don't forget to subscribe.
02:58Bye bye.
