00:01At the start of another weekend, it is more of the same kind of weather.
00:06That means that for areas that have been wet through the week, more rain is on the way.
00:10For areas that desperately need the rain, very little is expected during the next week
00:15or so as it turns hotter once again.
00:18High pressure continuing to dominate across a large part of England and Wales.
00:21Meanwhile, we start the weekend with outbreaks of rain moving through the north and northwest
00:25of Scotland and then into northern and western parts of Northern Ireland by lunchtime.
00:29That rain does move eastwards through the day, albeit slowly.
00:33A few showers reaching eastern and southern Scotland.
00:35One or two showers for parts of Western England, the Midlands, Wales but very few and no substantial
00:42rain at all through the weekend or beyond into next week.
00:46Patchy cloud thinning into the afternoon allowing for strong spells of sunshine and temperatures
00:51higher compared with recent days as the start of the long buildup in temperatures as we go
00:58through the next few days.
01:00Temperatures peaking into the high 20s, most likely high 29 Celsius somewhere around London
01:07could squeeze 30 Celsius but it's more likely into Sunday.
01:11Meanwhile it's going to feel cooler for Scotland and Northern Ireland, a keen breeze for the northwest
01:16of Scotland with gusts of 40 miles an hour or more for the Western Isles along with those
01:22heavy outbreaks of rain as well.
01:23Now these outbreaks of rain spill south into the far north of England overnight but as you
01:29can see the rain does ease and fragment a little during the early hours and some clearer
01:35spells, albeit with a few showers, return to the far north of Scotland.
01:39The southern half of the UK once again dry and clear overnight but it's a warmer night compared
01:45with recent nights.
01:47The humidity is rising and temperatures staying up in the mid-teens fairly widely.
01:54Now we start Sunday with outbreaks of rain across Scotland, Northern Ireland, the northwest of
01:59England but it's avoiding the south and even as this weather front bringing the rain appears
02:04to want to dip south.
02:05It is generally held north so the rain shield that we've seen so often across southern parts
02:12of the UK continues through the weekend and early next week.
02:16Showers, blustery showers for the far north and northwest of Scotland.
02:19These outbreaks of rain though are fairly persistent throughout much of the weekend for central and
02:24southern Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland easing a little later.
02:27In the south it's a much hotter day, now having seen 29, perhaps 30 on Saturday, we're expecting
02:35a couple of degrees if not more higher on Sunday, most likely temperature peaking at 31
02:42to 33 Celsius East Anglia and the southeast, widely the high 20s elsewhere but again into
02:48the mid to high teens for Scotland, Northern Ireland, the far north of England.
02:52Now having seen that rain through the weekend it does turn drier early next week.
02:57Across northern parts of the UK.
02:59The front fizzles away, sinks south but not bringing any appreciable rain to England or
03:05Wales and then high pressure builds and that high pressure is going to sit to the east of
03:09the UK from midweek and beyond for a few days.
03:13Some weather front is trying to reach the west and northwest but they're going to be weak features.
03:18So widely on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday a lot of dry weather up and down the country
03:23and increasingly warm across the whole of the UK by the middle of next week.
03:28We're talking about the mid to high 20s for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland but
03:33for England and Wales, widely the low 30s and in some places by Wednesday and Thursday the
03:39mid 30s are returning.
03:41So the next heat wave is on the way, it's going to turn substantially hotter once again but
03:48no useful rain once more across southern parts of the country.
